Hi all

We're also not attempting any form of routine yet, didn't with Jake either, probably start at about the 3 month mark.

Have text Smole today, she says they are "fine although Jesse still only 6lbs 10oz due to medication he's on. People think he's premature coz he's tiny"

Just though I'd update you all.
Hope everyone ok. xx

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 30/05/2007 19:08

Good evening ladies!!

Commune by the sea, eh!!? I like it!! Definitely recommend Eastbourne as a place to set up base - but thinking my humble home is perhaps a little on the small side to accommodate us all .... Perhaps we could all sell our current properties & club together to buy somewhere HUGE & fabulous ..... I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Head is feeling "stuffed full" atm, can't think straight..... so just going to stop waffling now .....

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 30/05/2007 19:11

Thank you for the update from dear smole. Ange - have been thinking of her & wee Jesse, bless 'em. Glad they are doing ok - praying J puts on some more flab ....

mammyjo · 30/05/2007 19:12

Evening CD! Hope you have had a good day.
I am desperately trying to get F to go to sleep as she has been awake since 6.30am except for two ten minute naps through the day . She is quiet now so fingers crossed. She has been beside herself as she is so tired and is really struggling to settle. Have tried through the day to get her to sleep but she was having none of it!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 30/05/2007 19:15

Right .......

Now I just want to post the hugest THANK YOU!!!! .... to all of you beautiful, wonderful, kind, lovely, gorgeous mummies / laydeeeees who contributed towards the Monsoon vochures that I recieved in the post this morning. I am truly over-whelmed -I really do not deserve your generosity & kindness - Wow!! Thank you all so, so ,so ,so much - esp to Ellie for setting the whole thing up. I really cannot say THANK YOU enough - This truly is one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. I am really looking forward to spending them .... it will be soooo nice to have something gorgeous to wear to SIL's Wedding in 2 weeks ...... THANK YOU!!!!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 30/05/2007 19:16

Sexonknackeredlegs · 30/05/2007 19:58

Hi ladies, lovely to see you all.

Ange, thanks for the update re Smole and Jesse.

Yvie, as others have said, just go with the flow re routines. It will happen. x

CD, really pleased about the vouchers - enjoy spending!!

Bugmum, thanks for your post. It is "good" to know other's lo's have similar problems.

All ok here today, tho K has a sticky eye. Have been wiping with cotton wool. Has anyone else's babe had this? Did you get drops from the gp? Fortunately we have the 6 week check tomorrow, so am going armed with a long list of things!

Right, need to go, as pizza is done and dh and I may get to eat it at the same time as each other!

Love to you all. xx

mammyjo · 30/05/2007 20:00

CD, have a wonderful time spending the vouchers. I went into my local Monsoon the other day and they have some beautiful stuff in there so you will be looking gorgeous at the wedding! Its one of my fave shops although I dont go in there very often! I have £50 of vouchers that I was given at Christmas but didnt want to spend them until after I had the baby. Burning a hole in my pocket now though!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 30/05/2007 20:12

Same here MJ - I love Monsoon, but never go in there as normally can't afford to look, let alone buy - VERY excited about my next trip though ............ Shame I've got no one to take with me for my retail therapy though.

SOKL - GP will give you drops for sticky eye if you go & see him / her. Just keep washing out with warm water & cotton wool - from inside of eye, outwards ..... would recommend that you squirt a little breast milk in each eye, as that miraculously clears up most sticky eyes; but you can't as you are FF ..... happy to send you some of mine in the post though!!!!????

mammyjo · 30/05/2007 20:17

Ffion has had very sticky eyes. I have just been using cooled boiled water and cotton wool. Agree with CD to wipe from inside out using each piece of cotton wool only once and on one eye only. Its definitely cleared it up for dd.

mammyjo · 30/05/2007 20:17

Quite literally titter CD!!

runnyhabbit · 30/05/2007 20:24

sokl W has got a sticky eye. Dr took swab to be tested first, and now has ointment which we have to put in his eye 4 times a day - great fun, not!

J really not himself atm. Not much of an appetite, and quite tearful and clingy - not like him at all. He's also been waking in the night, crying, and wanting to come into our bed. Maybe he's realised that W is here to stay. Even though he still gives W kisses and cuddles. Who knows?
He's in bed now, W is having his "big" bedtime feed, so hopefully I'l be able to get some housework done before I hit the sack
(so if you see me on here, tell to put the dishwasher on, or something)

Sexonknackeredlegs · 30/05/2007 20:27

CD, pmsl! So, Aptamil won't do it then!?

Runny, sorry to hear J is off colour.

Hi Mammyjo!

mammyjo · 30/05/2007 20:51

Hi SOKL, how have you been? Better day today?
F is still bloody awake! Dont honestly know how she is keeping her eyes open. Think I will go up to bed and take her with me.

Runny, ds went through a couple of really naughty weeks at home and at school. They put it down to the baby being here. He has totally settled down now so maybe J is just reacting to the new situation. You just never know how their minds work do you?

Sexonknackeredlegs · 31/05/2007 07:10

Hi all.

Mammyjo, much better day yesterday thank you. Started off pants, but that was down to B being an utter pita.

K seems much more settled. She was asleep by 7.15 in her basket which I propped up with a cushion, and she slept until 4.30 a.m. had a bottle and went back to sleep, and hopefully will be in that state until 8.00ish.

Hope F dropped off in the end and you got a good night.

How is everyone else today?

Just grabbing some quiet time before B gets up, although I can hear her already whinging and whining through K's monitor!

Katy44 · 31/05/2007 08:29

Morning everyone
been up and entertaining since half 5
zzzz

weeonion · 31/05/2007 08:42

morning folks - lie you katy - been enertaining since early. i have become an expert at waving rattles and black n white toys with ne hand whilst propping up my head with the other.... yawnnnnnnnnnnnn

Katy44 · 31/05/2007 09:03

T is still not interested in that, he likes going for loooong walks around the house, sitting up in my arms, looking out of windows and at pictures. Just what I want to do while half asleep!

mammyjo · 31/05/2007 10:01

Morning! Feel for you being up since half five Katy. The only good thing in the summer is that it is light. Much worse in the winter when it is still pitch black!

SOKL, glad you had a better day yesterday. F finally went to sleep at 9.30pm last night. I was already in bed by then as I took her up with me to watch the apprentice. She slept through until half five which was lovely. Not surprised really as she was totally exhausted!

Hope everyone has a good day. Not sure what to do today as its raining at the moment but looks like it may brighten up.

Katy44 · 31/05/2007 10:19

That sounds lovely mammyjo! (the sleep I mean, not the rain)
I shouldn't complain really as I do get plenty of sleep, normally 6 or 7 hours, but although I think of myself as a morning person that's just a bit too early for me

claricebean · 31/05/2007 10:22

Morning,

Hugs to the early risers: katy, WO and others.

SOKL - glad you had a better day yesterday.

Sounds like you had a good night in the end MJ

Ruby did her usual thing of taking an hour of entertainment before dropping off at half midnight. But then she does sleep through till half 8.

She had her 6 week check up yesterday and is 11lb 5oz so I'm very chuffed with that. BUT she has thrush in her mouth AND a fused vagina. This sounded very shocking to me but I have done some research (good old MN) and apparently it's not that uncommon. I've been given some oestrogen cream to try and open it up. If not she may need minor surgery to open it up. Apparently they open up in puberty anyway, once the hormones kick in, but it's better to open it now to help prevent UTIs / other infections. The good thing is it obviously isn't causing her any pain.

I wasn't surprised about the thrush as she does have some big white patches around her lips in particular, but she is feeding without any apparent pain so a bit strange. I went to my GP (they have specialised pediatric GPs here, so you have to see a different one yourself) and she looked at my nipples and said I didn't have thrush and that in fact she'd never seen any mother with thrush in her nipples. I'm not in pain, but can I really not have it but R does?? Anyway, have liquid nystatin for her.

Happy Thursdays everyone

Katy44 · 31/05/2007 10:22

I'm going to ask a question that's completely going to show me up as a first time mum.
T is 5 weeks, and other than feed, bath and change him I don't feel I do very much with him. I do take him round the house looking at stuff, but only do that for 10 mins at a time, and every so often I shake a rattle at him or dangle his baby gym close to him. I also give him tummy time on our bed, but again that only last about 5 mins while he turns his head and crawls with help. At the moment, for example, he's sat in his bouncy chair with a muticoloured hedgehog that he's showing no interest in while I'm on MN
Is this normal or am I a Very Bad Mum? Will it get easier to play with him when he's a bit older?

Katy44 · 31/05/2007 10:24

oh cb, that sounds awful (mainly cos I've never heard of it), glad it's not really anything to worry about

oooggs · 31/05/2007 10:30

Katy that is all I am doing with dt's, its ds1 who runs me ragged and dh of course

oooggs · 31/05/2007 10:30

how about going for walks, good execise (sp?) and fresh air for both of you and of course shopping. Train them young
