Dragonhart · 26/05/2007 20:14

Shit. Just remembered it is my MIL's bday today and I spoke to her her earlier and I forgot to say happy birthday! Bad, Bad, Bad DIL!

2Happy · 26/05/2007 20:52

hey PCF, same middle name!
good hair, lal
hattie - fat face is just the best!
welcome mandapanda
wilkie - well done rolling boy! used to feel lots of "movements" before i got pg again, it was freaky!
dh - naughty dil!!
jodie - i just used your trick of opening wrdpad and writing personals as i read instead of scrolling up nd down - v good idea!!

i am on my own with ds2 now, have sent dh to bed he was knackered, lol! no plans for the weekend, no doubt will be on here lots then!

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 26/05/2007 21:16

How is ds1 doingin his bed now 2happy? Luke has started leaping about after we put him down and I have to say I have no patience with it!

Been returning him but he keeps laughing. Wouldnt be so bad if he was crying but it is just a game. Sorry, that sounds terrible, wouldnt rather he was crying but at least would not get so cross with him which of course does not help.

2Happy · 26/05/2007 21:22

Well we're hving a run of him actually going to sleep when we put him to bed - now the 5th consecutive night I think - which is great. Up until then he was just as you've said, treating it like a game. And I totally agree, it sounds harsh but him seeming ti enjoy it actully made it harder to tackle. When he was jumping in and out and we kept putting him back at least we were doing something, but when he was just singing and talking, wht can you do? (Plus the crying tired him out and made him more likely to sleep [bad mother])

I guess in a few months we'll be looking back on this as just a short phase, but it's a bugger at the time isn't it?!

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 26/05/2007 22:49

He tricked us by being good to start with but now he has realised the fun he can have. Esp with his books! Keep going in to him and he has books everywhere and just says 'oh dear! A mess' as if the book fairies did it! Luckily he was so tired tonight that it did not last long.

Hi all.

I've been having a nice weekend so far. LO slept for the longest yet on Fri night - 8pm until 3am. We were at IL's and unfortunately I was disturbed several times so no such length of sleep for me but I did hand LO over to PIL as soon as they woke up so DH and I could have a cuddle together which was nice.

We've turned our pliko into a pushchair for the first time today when we went for a walk in the rain. LO seemed to like it cos she slept for the whole walk bless her.

Shimmer · 27/05/2007 18:47

Hi all. You've all been quiet... hope it's cos you've all got really exciting bank holiday plans?

I'm just recovering from an evil evil cold i've had for the last 2 days. I was convinced it was flu Friday/Saturday but i do seem to be getting better today, so praps it was just a cold after all. Luckily DP's off today and tomorrow and he's actually been pretty good getting up with Freddie this morning and entertaining him today so i've just been chilling out on the sofa and sleeping

Well done J for rolling over! F's still really good at rolling from back to front, but then gets stuck and needs pushing back over! He did manage to roll back once today... but thats only once out of about 500 times of rolling back to front!

Wilkie F moves around loads in his cot too, though it doesn't seem to bother him. I went in in the middle of last night and he had completly turned arund - head where his feet were when we went down! Also, the last 3 mornings in a row F has woken us up by turning his mobile on!! It's attached to the cot bars right down at the far end of the cot, but he sort of shuffles down and kicks at the control thing until it goes on! Of course i assumed its more by luck than judgement, but he has done it quite consistently now. So coincidence it could be... or i could just have a little baby genuis!

Gorgous hair Lal. Good luck with the dreaded spinning later. I'm actually very impressed that you're still going!! I've just joined a 'buggyfit' class in an attempt to get fit by walking round Hyde Park. Not nearly as hard core as spinning!

laughalot · 27/05/2007 18:59

Spinning nightmare !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vino I sent that email so god only knows what has happened to that. I see we were both born in derby hee hee. We were in headingley last year at the village hotel and I have also stopped in the village hotel in brombrough [SP]we stop there alot when we come up for the grand national.

theUrbanDryad · 27/05/2007 19:09

meant to say - Z rolls round a lot in his cot. he's in his travel cot tonight (the one that MIL said she was never going to buy us, not never) and i've just been in to check on him and he's diagonal! bless!

Wilks - i too am feeling phantom movements in my womb! was quite freaked out at first, but then realised that it was probably just things getting back to normal. Z got his hand stuck in the cot bars yesterday, i have to admit i laughed before i freed him. he didn't cry, just looked at me very reproachfully!

Dragonhart · 27/05/2007 20:05

Went to my uncle's for sunday lunch today. It was a bit of a nightmare as I was on my own (DH was still on old boys weekend ) and Luke decided to be a monster and was awful at the table.

It is really not like him so dont know whether it was because he has suddenly become really independent and wont let me help him with his fork, even though he is not that good at using it or just because I was stressed and his dad was away. Got indigestion afterwards so even though the meal was nice, I felt crap after.

Had a nice day despite that though and I am def going to escape for afew hours tom to have a cake in M&S with my mum. Only fair as DH has been on a jolly all weekend! He is actually expecting me to give him sympathy for having a hangover and hurting himself playing rugby when he knows he is too old to do it now! Men!

ellieandhattie · 27/05/2007 20:17

evening well its been chucking it down here all day, dh played footie this morning and since 1pm the girls have been 'his' so I haved read the paper/lazed around etc.

Just dropped my brothers girlfriend to a wedding reception (she couldnt go to the day do as they werent together when invites were sent) she is so nice alays asks after e and h and her little boy is so cute (his with his nanny tonight) this is the first time she'll meet meet my mum (met my dad a few times when he has been doing stuff at my brothers) my mum is lovely but can sometimes fire 20 questions at new people so I have tried to let my mum know a few of the basics and warned g/f (shes is worried that my mum won't like her because she has ds) think everything be fine and I know my mum will love her ds when she meets him because he is so adorable you couldnt not love him. We were laughing that if they get married they have page boy/flower girls sorted although I have just bet dh that my xmas 08 they'll have had/be having a baby

DH working tomorrow so going to go to my mum and dads in the afternoon and one of my aunties is coming down to see the girls as she hasnt seen them since March so that'll be good

TheShopaholic · 27/05/2007 22:12

Evening all. Had mum and dad and bro and SIL (to be) over for dinner so they've just left. Am knackered after cleaning all day and being up most of the night with DD. She managed to wake us up every hour last night. Finally gave in yesterday and gave DD her first taste of "proper" food. Was very emotional after being determind that I wanted to BF her exclusively til 6 months but she was getting more and more intrigued by what we were eating so gave in and she loved it!

UD - what kind of travel cot have you got Z? I posted another thread yesterday as I can't make my mind up. Was thinking about one of the tent ones since they are so light.

Anyone got any exciting plans for tomorrow? DH is off so we're just planning to go for a wee walk if the weathers nice enough.

vinorouge · 28/05/2007 08:03

Shopn - I'm going to get one of those tent travel cots too. We've had one of the little pop up ones that has been brilliant but its only up to 6 months.

Its not raining here today so DH will be out in the garden laying our new patio. I need to get LO some cough medicine and take back some of her clothes - went a bit shop happy on Saturday.

the house needs tidying too.....

RGee · 28/05/2007 09:11

Morning folks!

Hope you're all having a lovely Bank Holiday. It's been a bit hectic here, what with all the drinking and that....Went to the cricket on Saturday whilst in-laws babysat and had a fab day. Was pretty drunk by midday . Had a lovely lie in yesterday and today (in laws looked after lo yesterday morning whilst DH and I lounged) amd this morning, she didn't wake up until 7.30. DH still in bed though - was sure it ws his turn to get up, but at least it gives me a chance to catch up here! Nothing planned for today. Weather a bit cold and miserable, so I may go and do a bit of shopping. Might go and look at highchairs - Wilkie, did you ever make a decision on a highchair? Think I'm going to start weaning in the next week.

So...what's been going on in my absence?
Am loving the quiz responses. Must have a closer look and start questioning the responses!!!

EAH - your photos are gorgeous - you must be so pleased. Ellie is so pretty, such a cutie (I would say the same about Hattie, but obviously Pippa is the same age and I wouldn't want you thinking H was the loveliest female baby on this thread )

Wilkie - no phantom movements here. You're not 4 months preggers are you . Although looking at my jelly belly there could quite easily be another couple in there!!

Mandapanda - heelo there! Welcome. You've not been scared off yet then?

LaL - your hair looks lovely! Although I pmsl at your grumpy expression! How's the legs today?

Dragon - well done on putting them both to bed! Who got kicked out of Joseph btw?

Hattie - hope work is going well. I do my water in my bottles in advance then add in the pre measured powder from those compartment thingies (as Wilkie said I think). She drinks her milk at room temperature so I don't have to bother with warming. Thought all was well until I read LTH's stuff and now freaked out by salmonella....

UD - glad all is going well with MIL.

2Happy- have you found anything to keep you entertained this BH weekend?

Vino - you've turned your pram around!! Most exciting. Hope E is enjoying her new view of the owrld (when she awakes from slumber!) Might bump into you in town later!

Shimmer - hope you're feeling better today.

Hello to the rest of you - Carrot, Shop, Lizz, LTH, Jodie..who've I missed?

theUrbanDryad · 28/05/2007 10:35

rubbish weather here. we're just off for a massive greasy fry up, even though i weighed myself this morning and i come in at a whopping TWELVE STONE!!! i was 9 when i got pregnant!

LadyTophamHatt · 28/05/2007 11:04

really UD?

are you sure your scales aren't broke?
how much do you put on during the PG?

MrsCarrot · 28/05/2007 11:36

Join the club, Ud, I'm 1lb shy of twelve stone at thr moment, but I was 10.12 to start with so not as much of a difference. Thing is I only went up to 12.when pregnant so I've definitely put lots on while breastfeeding. Trouble is I'm ALWAYS starving!

Morning everyone. Crap weather here, as is everywhere? Have just booked our summer holiday in Cornwall, a tipi in a private field. I'm really excited about it. We love camping but haven't been for a couple of years and I cannot be bothered to gather all the paraphernalia with a baby. Just drive there, and it's all set up. We can even have a fire. Fab! Have you got summer plans yet?

hattie2 · 28/05/2007 12:09

Ooh you lucky thing MrsC, I've always liked the idea of those tipi things in Cornwall!

No plans for summer yet - hoping to get a week away somewhere before the school holidays though. Feel a bit cheeky asking for time off when I've only been back at work for 4 days though!

I have been very organised though and booked our flights to go away for xmas - we're off to visit my sis who lives in Dubai.

I can't get my head round this bottle preparation! Like RGee I used to add the powder to room temp water but apparently that's not safe. LTH - if you use the 'Hatrick' method how do you know that the water is above 70 degrees? How hot is 70 degrees anyway??? arggggghhhh - bf'ing was simple in comparison!

LadyTophamHatt · 28/05/2007 13:33

I experimented and let the water cool by 30 minutes to see how hot it felt and was surprised to find it almost at the temp G likes it. I thught it waould be MUCH hotter.

It is a fraction hotter but not by much.

I leave 4oz of water in the bottle and add 2oz of boiling water and its pretty much the same temp by touch( I haven't actaully tested it with termomter though).

UD, sorry deary, I reaslise my "really UD" comment sounds alittle "OMG you fat cow"I didn't mean it to sound like that. I just thought you photos look alot slimer
