Hi all,
Sorry I have been absent for a while!
I have an interview for a job tomorrow that I really want, so have been:
A- preparing for it
B- settling Sefton into nursery
C- getting in as many activities with him as I can before I go back to work

I have quickly scanned but cant find the meet up details, can someone please repeat them? (sorry to be cheeky!)

gotta dash

usandnosleep · 14/06/2007 07:21

Good luck tomorrow Sleep xx

All well here. Zack was in a grumpy mood yesterday so sat here hoping today is better

Have had a bit of a breakthrough with my work so I'm feeling a bit better about work.

Thank you for telling us about your smear fears, it has made me book an appontment for my long overdue test.

Lysettes, so sorry to hear about your mum, really hoping it's not true.
It's weird when you don't get on with your mum and something like this happens. I have a terrible relationship with mum but her diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis means that contact hasn't been broken completely.

HC I'm hoping you're having the best time x

How's Pinkdolly? Are you still reading this? x

Hi First

jacobandlysette · 14/06/2007 10:22

good luck sleep!

where is everyone? have you started a new thread without us?????

i would be surprised if the diagnosis on my mum isn't right , and tbh it does really explain a lot of things over the past 18 months or so. have done the obligatory googled research already

jacob had a terrible night last night. he's drooling and streaming nose so i know why, but he went down at 730 after 3 goes, then woke at 830, 930 when i gave him and dh brought him out into a darkened bedroom with a double bed in it and let him play on that till he tired himself out at 1030, then got a good lot of milk into him and some medised and he went till 330. then woke again screaming and crying (crying so much that when i held him against my shoulder his tears dripped down my back , got some more medised into him and milk and he went again till 520, then more hugs and then back till7am. i am shattered! his nose was so stuffed up the poor little guy - he was trying to suck his thumb back to sleep but couldn't breathe at the same time.

and of course this morning he's now in the best ever mood! he could win happiest baby in london today

HC hope the weather is holding for you!

Hi All,

Lysettes-fingers crossed for you this month. Also, hope you don't feel too tired today after Jacob's nocturnal activities.

Numpty- Happy belated birthday hun.

HC-hope young Sophie is feeling better today, and that your AF probs sort themselves out soon. My last AF lastest 10 days and I have a mirena coil which is supposed to make your periods lighter???

Annie-hope the beetle police haven't caught up with you yet.

Bloss- did you try them with a later bedtime last night? If so I hope you managed to get a bit of a lie in.

KZ- add my name to the list for Warwick. Just hoping my clapped out car will get us there.

Will try to carry on the rest of my installment later on when the child goes to bed.

Catch ya'll later

Jeanie

Hello ladies. Would like your opinions please. A job has come up hundreds of miles away from where I live (it's Inverness Wallace!). It's somewhere we've been looking at for ages but there have been no opportunities. Problem is the job is fixed term until May 2008, but the job description reads like it will be for much longer. Many of these types of jobs start off as fixed term and then get extended/go permanent. My job, although permanent, isn't all that secure as we're due a huge reorganisation in two years. It's related to what I do now, but the other side of things - more software related so I'd have loads of swotting to do. Would love your input on this one. What would you do? It's pretty scary.

DH is a SAHD KZ. The work he used to do is hundreds of miles away in the other direction so he's not been doing it since we had DS. He's started doing mountain leader training - you can't get a better place for that.

I think it tells me something that when I read the beginning of your post I thought you were going to say I'm mad and my heart sank. Those gut reactions are very telling I think.

I mightn't get the job, or even an interview, of course. I'm going to ring them next week to get a bit more background and try to sound them out on the longevity issue. I'm banking on there being not too much competition, judging from the reactions of colleagues who saw the advert. Like I said, it's not my specialist area so I really have got a huge learning curve to climb between now and any interview. But the work involves much less stress than my current job, as mine's all reactive with loads of really tight deadlines.

I'm getting quite excited at the thought now as I type.

Twinklemegan · 14/06/2007 22:52

x posted. No offer, or even interview yet KZ. I'm pretty certain I will apply, but me being me I want to make damned sure I have a good chance of being successful if I do.

Sadly there'd be no chance of influencing my work in that way. It's public sector and completely inflexible in that respect. The current situation has made it abundantly clear that the powers that be have no interest in retaining good, experienced staff if it means paying them a proper wage.

FirstAtForty · 14/06/2007 22:52

ooh Twinkle - seriously consider it if you're not happy where you are! Scotland is fab. I'm sure the Scottish contingent will be along shortly to agree

Us -

Tee hee on the hand relief Kayzed, I've oftentimes had a snigger about that one

Lysette, sorry to hear about your mum , and yours too Usandnosleep

Sleep - how was the interview?

Bloss - how's the new dishwasher, is it here yet?!! I started a dishwasher advice thread yesterday, so hacked off with our crappy thing (felt like a bit of a saddo though )

MIL here this weekend, so mnetting prob a bit curtailed. Emma fine, loads of upper teeth and drooling going on, on fine form otherwise. She is completely bonkers - full of the strangest noises and facial expressions, (but totally gorgeous at the same time of course). Oh and proper crawling - finally!!!

Have good nights all xxx

I'm so selfishly caught up in my thoughts that I missed that one. Congratulations to Emma! Did I ever tell you that Aidan's crawling properly now, and he's pretty speedy with it. And he's now pulling himself up to standing all the time. They're growing up so fast aren't they?

Morning

Erm...... sleep has been RUBBISH!! I think he has a virus, no definite symptoms but incredibly grumpy and sensitive.
Never mind, it is a step in the right direction.

How are you Pavlov?

Well done Emma! Bet you're giving mummy the run around

Twinkle, I too would go for it. It sounds like fate to me, the probs with your job, you have previously considered the area and DH's training. How does your other half feel about it?

KZ- LOL at hand cream, I've never thought about it that way [angelic emoticon]

Hi Jeanie

Lysette, I hope jacob is feeling better, poor wee soul.

Zack does 'all gone', holds his hands up and says "bon" So cute!!
Also said "dada" for the first time last night DP was over the moon.

Have a good day all

Ceebee74 · 15/06/2007 07:08

Morning all - you can tell it has been ages since I last posted as the thread has disappeared off my 'threads I'm on'

Lysette/Bloss - about your mums. Hope things are not as serious as you think.

Twinkle - definitely apply for the job, as Us said, seems like fate to me and Inverness is so lovely (if a tad cold ). You don't have to make any final decisions but certainly worth putting in a form. Josh has also abandoned the 'pull and drag' crawling technique in favour of proper crawling - so much quicker!

First - big congratulations to Emma - now the fun starts

We bought the ELC toddle truck yesterday - Josh managed 10 steps with it last night - so very cute! But now he appears to have abandoned the walking on his feet and pushes it round on his knees!

This is just a quickie before I have to get ready for work - will catch up later.

x

PS - Happy 11month birthday to Jacob for yesterday

PPS - Isn't it quiet without Annie around

TheGoddessBlossom · 15/06/2007 08:15

morning.

Where's Kbaby? Wanna know if she is pregnant or not. And to tell her that my rocking crib looks like it is selling for £27 on eBay which is a right result, especially as the waoman is going to come and get it so I don't have the faff of packaging it up to post.

No dishwasher. Got vetoed by DH as he is skint this month with holiday coming up and I feel guilty that he is paying our huge mortgage on his own, so backed down. In fact we are thinking of moving to a smaller house that needs renovation with extention potential, and a better garden, so that the pressure of me going back to work is reduced. And the bedrooms aren't great here, even though I love the location.... we will see. It's so ironic isn't it - you buy our dream family home to have your family in, have your family and then you can't afford to live in it! Things aren't that bad but it does make financial sense to sell, have a smaller mortgage, a house to do up when I have a builder husband and still have savings in the bank....

Whisper it, but H slept till 6.30am this morning! Toby still woke at 5ish, but pottered for an hour (hasn't found the toys in the bottom of his cot, the weirdo) and then had his bottle and dozed for a bit longer so even though I have been awake since 5ish I have'nt had to be UP since 5ish which is bliss. Fingers crossed. Not that hopeful TBH cos yesterday morning was dire. But I did manage a nap in the day too KZ, as they both had a two hour kip at lunchtime yesterday! Now THAT was civilised...

LOL at name tags KZ - I am thinking T-Shirts....................

jacobandlysette · 15/06/2007 08:34

twinkle deffo apply!

well done to emma and aiden

happy 11month birthday to josh for yesterday - someone asked me how old he was yesterday and i had no idea of the date, so i said - "coming up 11 months!" bad mummy!!!

jacob slept from 700 till 430 this morning! then had some more nasal drops to clear his stuffy nose, a bit of milk and then back to sleep till 7am! I feel human again . really do think there are some teeth on the way - i can see them all in his gums both top and bottom. of course he's the happiest thing during the day, it's just at night it all comes out. And when he's not feeling great he also gets a bit of separation anxiety.

bless roshi! she's really coming along brilliantly isn't she - i can't wait for jacob to be standing on his own. we are not bothering to baby proof this place as he is not too mobile yet and we will do the new place as soon as we get in there.
