Morning ladies! Finally - DD's all where they should be so I've got a brief window of opportunity to catch up before HV descends at 11am! This will only be the 2nd time P has been weighed since she was born nearly three weeks ago - have hardly had any health people coming to see me - only one MW visit since leaving Birthing Centre - They really don't give a crap once you've had a couple, do they!!!?

Oooooh, meet up for SE in Brighton sounds fab to me!! Shall we start organising / set up a thread?? I can do any Sats or Thurs / Tues during the week. I'll set up a thread in a mo - Loving the idea of West Whittering with families (and DH's / DP's????) during the summer - Used to live in Chichester and was down the Whitterings all the time - Gorgeous place!!

Hoping everyone has lovely days today ..... DH has gone to pick up our new car this morning!!!!!! Exciting!!!! Then this pm we're either going to Miniature Railway (not raining) or Paradise Park (raining) with the Evil Ones - who are going home tomorrow ..... Whooooo! Hooooo! Busy weekend ahead - Hen Do for SIL tomorrow (DH is having all 3 girlies!!!! ) and DD2's 2nd Birthday on Sunday - then DH's Birthday on Monday .... Madness!!!!!!!

on the subject of leaking norks - I made DH go & sterilse my pump and a bottle last night cos I was literally soaking the bed at 3am ..... Niiiiice!!

"Just call me "Super Boobs"!!!!?

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 18/05/2007 10:36

I'd go for B, Liath, most definitely!!!

liath · 18/05/2007 10:37

My thought exactly CD . He's so gorgeous - despite the spots.

LesleyR · 18/05/2007 11:44

Morning all.

I too have a snuggly baby sleeping on me as I post this. I really should go to the supermarket but it looks miserable outside.

Thanks for the advice re baby acne. It actually looks to be improving today and I still think he's gorgeous even with spots.

Really should go as glazier coming this pm to measure for replacements. The police told me that some of the neighbours had stones thrown at windows on same night, but ours were the only ones broken. Mindless!

Have a good day.

WestCountryLass · 18/05/2007 12:43

CD, was it you that was looking for a changing bag?

I just went to TK Maxx at Cribbs Causeway and they have tonnes of them I bought a Samsonite one, it is denim with a white and red lining for £12.99! It's got a changing mat and thermos type bag thing inside for bottles.

They had loads of other styles and all for about the £12.99 mark. If it was you that mentioned it, I know someone was buying it for you but you could get something else you need with the money for that price ;)

I was in said TK Maxx and Leo was crying, I was carrying him while I looked around and this old biddy said "that baby needs feeding", I said "he really does not as I have only just fed him", she said "do you want me to hold him", me "no thank you, thanks though ", she then said "he is really hungry, he needs feeding, he is growing" and I said "he is baby number 3, I do know when to feed them thank you", she then scuttled off muttering to herself (silly cow).

This other woman in there said "you just don't need it, people should mind there own business, babies are aloud to cry" and we had a bit of a laugh about her Some people are, well, strange aren't they?????

Sexonknackeredlegs · 18/05/2007 14:58

Hiya ladies, quiet on here today!

WCL, some people do not know when to shut up do they! Honestly, I would have decked her!

CharnCoCo, what a lot of milk! How much does CoCo weigh now? Mind you, we are making up 5 oz bottles, of which she has 6 in 24 hours and Katie will take 4 or 5 oz's each time!

How is everyone else?

K has been great today thank God. She even spent 10 minutes on her play mat and 20 minutes in her bouncy chair so I could inhale my lunch!

Just been to Marks and Spencers as I felt like spending some money on ME! Couldn't find anything I really fancied.

Never mind. At least K slept the whole time and I had lots of lovely comments about her !

Hope everyone is well, aches and pains are not too awful. Thinking of you lots. xx

maveta · 18/05/2007 15:26

Hi all, quiet on here today, no?

Zazas - do you mean the swaddlebees leaks onto the wrap or does it leak as far as the clothes (i.e. could it be the wrap that´s not covering it properly??) sorry if stupid question... I haven´t noticed it leaking but I have a boy so maybe the main area of concentration of pee for us is different? They are very cute aren´t they?

My lo has been an angel today, no doubt knackered by being up so much last night! Can sympathise, dh and I have just had an hour siesta and are feeling much more human. Have decided that I need to approach the night feeds a lot more positively. Going to get up and feed in the sitting room or kitchen and not try to feed in bed. I think it´s a psychological thing that we want him to feed as quickly as possible and get back to sleep but that´s not fair on him so going to try a new more patient approach and see if that helps... (gotta give me credit for trying, no?!)

runnyhabbit · 18/05/2007 15:34

Afternoon all

Both ds are asleep - hurray

Going to try some Milk Maid tea to help my supply. Had a look at an old thread in the BF section, and most seemed to think it helped.

We had quite a good night last night. Ds1 must be feeling better because he didn't wake up, and ds2 had a big feed at 8pm (lasted for an hour) but then didn't wake til 1.30 for a feed, then at 5.30. Even though its only happened one night, I feel positive that a routine is starting, because ds1 followed a similar sort of pattern (once the days were sorted, the nights followed)
The only problem is getting him to sleep on his own during the night. During the day, he'll pretty much sleep anywhere, but in the night, its got to be on one of us. Have tried putting things that smell of me in with him, but no joy. Any advice?

Bramshott · 18/05/2007 16:12

Hi all. No brain or time but just popped in to say Hi while DD1 is watching the pile-of-shite that is Lazytown!

Well I got through the night without DH and it was mixed - put her down at 11ish and she slept till 4.00 ! Then wouldn't settle after her feed and so I was up and down until 5.45, at which point I fed her again and then left her in my bed until the morning as I had lost the will to live by that point . Has scotched my theory that however much she yells she will settle in the end though, as clearly she didn't, so next time she pulls that stunt I will try something else (feeding her more probably, although I don't think that was really the problem, she just didn't want to go to sleep, and especially not in the moses basket ).

Sorry to hear you had a bad night too Maveta. Orla went through a phase of being much worse at latching on at night, and the midwife I saw said it wasn't uncommon, as you are more bleary and probably try to rush them. I was trying to latch her on lying down at that point, and now I sort of lean on my elbow so I can hold her head while she latches on, and then I can lay down once she's got going. Now (7 wks) she's nearly getting to the stage where she can latch on with me lying down, or at least re-latch in that position when she comes off.

octo · 18/05/2007 17:07

quick hello - hope you are all okay

WCL/birdie etc - are we ready for a south west meet up yet? Could meet at Cribbs again.

Trying to find cottage in Lakes for Oct half term for 9 people aarrgghhhh!

Things were pretty bad at night at start of week but back to decent sleeping last night - lets hope it continues!

Boys driving me potty - need to go to bedroom and chill!

eca · 18/05/2007 17:42

really quick post to say maveta babies have a growth spurt at 3wks ish - maybe that's part of the night feed trauma last night??

right, T needs feeding as ever

mammyjo · 18/05/2007 18:32

Hello everyone. Hope you have all had a reasonable day. Dd has a cold, took her to the GP today as she sounded chesty. Her chest is actually clear but she is very snotty and has been throwing up snot which she has swallowed - delightful!

Lol at the name CD, or should I now refer to you as the super one!

Runny, thanks for the link to the monkey sanctuary. I might take ds there during half term. Not too far away from me and I am sure he will enjoy it. Have been to Amelia trust farm before but not for a while so may pay them a visit too! I looked at the link someone posted for you for boosting milk supply. I was thinking of getting some of that stuff too although I dont think my supply is too bad. Does anyone know if its ok to use just to enrich the milk?

SOKL, sorry you are still having a tough time with K. F had a screamy night again last night. For me they always seem to follow a day where she has only slept a small amount (like today), so am waiting with baited breath for tonight.

Mmk, good to see you and really pleased that the bf is going so well for you this time.

Take care all xxx

WestCountryLass · 18/05/2007 19:39

Octo, yes!!!! I am up for a meetup We have been back to normal since he was about a day old

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 18/05/2007 21:31

Not just you WCL!!

Evening - How is everyone doing? The Evil Ones (aka mother & grandmother) went home today .... has actually not been too bad having them around this time; relived they are going though ..... can get back into my "normal" routine now .....

Manic weekend ahead of me ..... SIL Hen Do tomorrow; although I have suddenly realised I have been a complete idiot - We're supposed to be spending the a/n at the David Lloyd Centre doing the pool, spa, sauna, steam thing .... AND I CAN'T!!!! I am still bleeding - arse, arse, arse ..... There's NO WAY my bleeding lasted this long with the other two - HV said it is because I am not getting enough rest to order to let my body completely recover from the birth - Unfortunately I ain't never gonna get that rest with 3 under 3.5yrs ..... So I am wondering if I'll ever stop bleeding!!!!? Any of your guys bleed for a long time this time round???

Bugger.

Not sure what I should do now - don't really want to pay £14 for the priviledge of sitting in a cafe with a bok for 5 hrs.

I am SUCH a monkey .......

Emmymummy · 18/05/2007 21:42

Well have had the day from hell...very briefly have spent 5 hours in A&E this afternoon/evening as Sophie has a rash on her body, head, legs, arms...pretty much everywhere. We were seen by 3 different Drs, all of whom asked the same questions, checked her heart, lungs, ears, throat etc etc. Only the final Dr decided that she is OK, no other signs of problems apart from the bizarre rash. So we were finally sent home at 7pm. Sophie then would not settle, and am anticipating a night from hell (to go with the day from hell).

Only amusing part of the whole episode was being asked to collect a urine sample from her. Babies do not pee on demand, and trying to catch a random pee in a small pot is a great game. In spite of the seriousness of the situation dh and I were in hysterics - me holding S in the air with dh waving a small plastic pot beneath her bum for 1/2 an hour....great game, you should all try it at home!

Emmymummy · 18/05/2007 21:45

Hello Dippy. Still bleeding here too, mostly at night strangely. Haven't got a clue how long it lasted last time. Do you have to go tomorrow?

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 18/05/2007 21:48

Awwwww, EM, so @ your crappola day sweetie. [[hugs]] REALLY hopig tonight isn't as bad you fear it might be ... LOL @ trying to collect the urine sample though .... Did you manage it in the end????? I am sooo glad the rash doesn't seem to be anything serious though and that DH was still of work and could join in the trauma!!

No, I guess I don't have to go tomorrow; but it is sort of all "arranged" ... Feeling a bit stupid.

AngeG · 18/05/2007 21:56

Hi all

Sorry to hear you've had a stressy day emmy. Hope Sophie is ok tonight. We had a similar experience of collecting wee from Jake when he was a baby.

Dippy I bled for about 4.5wks this time and then came on...great.

Had a bit of a crap day today. When for our 6 week check...mostly all great, except Izzy wouldn't follow the doctor with her eyes, so we have to go back in a week to check that again and referral to opthamologist(sp) if she doesn't/can't do it next week. Needless to say I have spent the rest of day, trying to get her to do it...and have now convinced myself that she cannot see properly if at all and have got myself into quite a state about it.

Can I ask how many of your lo are smiling on demand now? Izzy does smile, but not very often and it's quite hard work and I'm wondering if it's because she can't see.

Sorry to have such a self absorbed post, but I am really concerned

Emmymummy · 18/05/2007 21:59

Yes, I was thinking to myself what a nightmare it would have been if dh hadn't been there too. We did manage to catch a really small amount of wee - luckily just enough for them to test. This was after both dh and me were peed on though. Ho hum!

I hope you manage to have a good day tomorrow if you go along. I know what you mean though, I really fancy going for a swim (am usually a v keen swimmer), but not sure if I should yet...

Well am heading to bed. Better grab any sleep I can before my poor boobs get chewed to pieces during the night. Also need to try to get some enthusiasm together for a clothes shopping session tomorrow in preparation for the party on Sunday. I just know it's going to be a demoralising exercise in self-loathing. Nightie night!

octo · 18/05/2007 22:00

rofl at wee sample - had enough trouble collecting my own emmymummy - rashes are so freaky - I was convinced the other night that ernie had a pin prick kind of rash on his head but decided as had been up 6 times and was currently approx 3.30am may be slightly delusional and when looked in morning it had gone! Not saying you were imagining it obviously - just that it is way too scary. Glad all is well and back home safely xxx

WCL - great - after half term - with or without siblings? I can do thurs/fri without siblings and we could go to the mall window/actual shopping or with siblings to Jump - ds2 not a born shopper LOL!

Have treated myself to two glasses of wine - must now go and dilute my bloodstream asap!

I am still bleeding on and off too and it is 5 weeks on monday - in fact I am starting to compile a list of stuff for the doctor at my 6 week check!

I have eaten 18 chocolate bars in the last two days

octo · 18/05/2007 22:08

Oh AngeG - try not to worry too much - ernie enever looks us in the eye but seems to gaze at our hair LOL! I do remember ds1/2 doing the same though which is quite reassuring - one thing you could try is doing incy wincy spider in front of her or twinkle twinkle and see if Izzy follows your fingers. Ernie has smiled about once .... I keep trying to elicit more smiles but he is Finn - you have to be one/related to understand LOL - think stubborn/single minded/boffin engineer - very serious looks and one hell of a frown!

CD - what are you going to do? You could just stay poolside, take a magazine and dangle feet in jacuzzi???? Saring would be good too.

octo · 18/05/2007 22:09

a sarong would be even better

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 18/05/2007 22:09

Glad the lengthy bleeding is now just me .... are you BF or bottle feeding Ange?? Arse at getting your period just after finishing the post-birth load of bleeding ....

"Go Octo, Go Octo...." - Am impressed with your chocolate eating!!

Right, DH home from Tesco, need to crack on with cake ......

AngeG · 18/05/2007 22:12

Thanks octo I know what you mean, I think she can see some things, must keep perservering. How old is Ernie?

Dippy, I'm BF that's why I was so annoyed about it.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 18/05/2007 22:12

Ange honey - Try not to worry too much , DD3 failed her hearing test today so we've gotta head up to the hospital for further tests ..... Bugger. I am sure it is all fine though - These little tinies are only very weeny so I am sure it will be fine sweetie .... Totally understand your anxiety though & sending you Super Boob [[[hugs]]

I am going to go & meet up with people for the lunch bit of the hen do & then enjoy a nice a/n with DH and my girlies ...
