Ah, that's why I have to disguise myself with makeup, well, I have photos of at least a couple of you guys I think,

ellenkpa · 17/05/2007 13:51

You're just so efficient. It must be the effect of having a first child, I'm just getting a picture of the organisastional skills I need to develop, I'm a secretary and have occasionally held the PA job title as well, but this is far harder.

ellenkpa · 17/05/2007 14:01

don't be so sure, i'm a very 'relaxed' parent, and an absolutely shit housekeeper
or should that be

hi all

still in agony here. had a rotten day yesterday The boob with masitis has a huge crack in it which is soooooooo painful to feed from. bf counsellor friend said that i need to feed from it though to clear the masitis. It's agony And T seems to be having a feeding frenzy the last couple of days too. Last night i didn't leave the bedroom from 4.30pm-9.30pm. I felt like i was going nuts! He was on and off the boob all night, with a brief break for a bath. dh was out and it was a real struggle feeing ill as well.

thank goodness my other boob is fine. I expressed 4oz in 5mins from it last night, but can't save it at the mo because of the antibiotics.

just had a quick look at that claire verity stuff. She's terrible not to mention dangerous!!

Right, going to try to have a quick sleep coz T seems to have finally finished feeding

thinking of you all xx

runnyhabbit · 17/05/2007 14:06

mammyjo - primatesanctuary

and have you been to the working farm on 5 mile lane to Barry, called Amelia Trust Farm? farm

eca · 17/05/2007 14:31

runny - i just came across this for boosting breast milk supply. Thought you might be interested. xx

I was on their site ordering this in a desperate attempt to try anything to get this crack to heal!!

runnyhabbit · 17/05/2007 14:49

Thanks for that. He's gaining weight really well, but I'm getting frustrated that there's not a lot left over to express!

Are there any good breast pads, or am I better off getting reuseable ones? Have tried 3 so far - cheapo pack my mum got from a pound shop when he was first born (ok, but didn't really absorb) Johnsons (useless, the fibres came off on my nipples!) and tesco (quite itchy)

eca · 17/05/2007 14:55

Runny - i've been using tommy tipee slim ones from boots. They seem really good and when I've really leaked they are still dry next to my skin. They're a bit pricey - £3.99 for 36 (i think). Only tried them because dh got the more expensive ones by mistake and then saw them in boots last week on offer for £2.99, so stocked up!

maveta · 17/05/2007 15:16

Hi Elkiedee, good to see you and glad you´ll be getting home soon

Mammyjo - oh that was a complete one-off and I only managed it because N was sleeping and I was having a (rare) burst of energy. It´s the first cleaning I´ve done in 2 weeks (apart from laundry!) As for expressing, I´m still experimenting with when the best time to do it is.. I got 3ozs in 20mins at about 5am this morning but would prefer NOT to make a habit of doing it at that hour!!

Sadly I think I´m back to doing the 4/5am feed (makes me feel like crying just at the thought of it) because I don´t think he´s taking well to the bottle of ebm at that hour.. poo. Am not convinced the thrush is clearing up and tomorrow is supposed to be his last day of the daktarin gel. Not sure what to do??

maveta · 17/05/2007 15:19

Oh and Eca - so sorry the mastitis hasn´t cleared yet.. that sounds like some feeding frenzy.. I don´t know how you are doing it!

Pinions · 17/05/2007 16:14

Love the name dipster, superboobs wish I had some of those. And some replacable ones so that I can go to the ball.

Emmymummy · 17/05/2007 16:58

Oh it is so comforting to read through the posts on here and to realise we're all in the same boat! I can soooooo sympathise with the total lack of any night / bedtime routine, even when trying to impose one. I absolutely detest the night feeds and try to fill Sophie up during the afternoon & evening, but to no avail. Why is it that during the day she will feed for 15 mins then fall asleep, but at night she'll feed forever and then fall asleep for an hour and then wake demanding more? WHYYYYYY????? I know it's still early days (she's all of 12 days old ) but doesn't she know I need to sleep too?!!!

Oh well, went out for lunch with dh today and bf'ed in the restaurant. Was very proud of myself about how discretely I managed to do it!

Em got a trampoline for her birthday - can see her boinging up and down in front of the kitchen window lol!

WaspElly · 17/05/2007 17:07

feelingv proud today - went sailing for 1st tine in over 6 months last night - woo hoo a whole 3 hours off!! This is a VERY important milestone for me, and is hoefully to continue.

Feel so much more ;ike the real me today, so, Pinions, you really must go to the ball - remember the nipper's joined your family not the other way round, and if you DO start leaking just go & express & bin whilst at the do to relieve the pressure...

Tamsin seems to be having eating days and sleeping days, and we'er not even at the 6 week growth spurt yet (quite!) must remember to express extra this week if possible & freeze, as she's managable now but iremeber the depression of coping with a frenzy just after you think you''ve got the hang of it all...

LovE to all & can people remind SOKL & AngeG for me should they pop on later, I've emailed 'em too... thaaaanks!

Short notice SOKL & AngeG but I can have my dest friend look after Cameron tomorrow pm for a couple of hours so could meet up for lunch/coffee if you want? Fancy a country pub for lunch?

YvieE · 17/05/2007 17:09

EM - I totally echo what you are saying about the day and night feeds.
Maveta - know what u mean abt boredom the weather has been pretty crap lately so have been chained to the house.
a red rash appeared on Sarai's face and gradually spread to her body - took her to the dr and she's been diagnosed with eczema. It appeared out of nowhere over 2 days and looks so painful, do you think me eating peanut butter sandwiches whilst bf caused this?

Eddas · 17/05/2007 17:11

Emmy, whixh trampoline has she got, might get dd one for her bday. Hope you don't mind me being nosey!

DD still i'll today so not much time to catch up, will try to post again later

WaspElly · 17/05/2007 17:21

YvieE don't go torturing yourself abou this - if it is a food allergy it's easily avoided at least! I think the advice re: peanuts has changed recently, and I think you're just more prone top deevloping it congenitally.
I'm sure you've frantically researched everything but a quick resume on what has always worked for me and thus baby too:
don't wash in perfumed stuff (I HATE Johnstons - even their sensitive range) In fact probs don't need to wash much at the moment, and definately not much soap required!
Make sure everything is non-bio washed - when I was bad I could tell within 5 mins of sleeping in a strange bed whether they'd been sone in bio opwder!
Keep her moisturized if it's a dry eczema, as often a day as it takes I've found DIprobase a really good one recently for mysef, although E45 either as the light lotion or the thicker cream just fine...
And please don't beat yourself up about it

Emmymummy · 17/05/2007 17:38

Eddas - it was this trampoline. not too big & rectangular shape means you can turn it on it's side and lean against a wall to get it out of the way!

Eddas · 17/05/2007 17:43

Looks nice emmy, bit too much for us at the moment as we're not too flush, are we ever?!

I've bought this one but dh not too sure about it. and she'll probably grow out of it a bit quick so we might take it back. Mind you it's only cheap so doesn't really matter if she only uses it for a year or 2.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 17/05/2007 17:48

Popping in quickly before DH gets hrom from work accompanied by my other 2 tiny terrors!!

Poor little DD3 has the most terrible cough - poor wee mite, she has been waking herself up all day with coughing fits which make her cry (think she is scared ) Hoping she'll shake it off asap. She has been awake a lot today, so hoping she will sleep a bit better tonight.........

Yey to going sailing WaspElly - Good stuff!

Am thinking the SE Laydees should meet up soon - Any suggestions as to where and when??????

Right, going to start running bath for me little ladies .....

Sexonknackeredlegs · 17/05/2007 17:56

Just a quick one, Waspelly, I haven't had your email. Did you send it to [email protected]

Anyway, I am free to meet up tomorrow. Where do you fancy?

Be great to meet your dd!

Hope everyone else is ok.

Yvie, I woud echo Waspelly. Also, I would recommend Oilatum Junior - we have the bath emolient (sp?) which you add to the bath - duh! and also some cream, and it is great. K had really dry skin and it was cracking in the creases poor mite, and it is much better now.

Need to run, but as dh is back - HURRAH - will be back later. xx

Bramshott · 17/05/2007 18:15

Thanks for comments about my abortive attempts at a bedtime routine. Am wondering whether I should just let it go for now and try and introduce it in a few weeks time. Would so love to have my evenings back though and not be stuck on the sofa with a baby permanently attached to me . . .

SOSKL - hurray to your DH being back! Mine is away tonight and in a wierd way I am sort of looking forward to it - at least I won't worry about waking him up when I am up and down in the night. I will nodoubt regret this once I have wrestled Niamh into bed, although she has been very good today (they both have ).

Yvie - I don't think eating peanuts can cause ecxema, and tbh, the jury is out over whether they can cause peanut allergy, so don't beat yourself up.

CD - yes, I was thinking that too about another south east meet. We were thinking of Brighton weren't we? It would be great to meet all these little girls. How about we try for a meet up with the babies soonish (does that have to be a Saturday for others to be without the big ones, or can we manage it on a week day?), and then maybe another one with the big ones too (West Wittering?!) over the summer?

Bloody wedding on Sat - I have so far spent over £100 on clothes I don't really like, and am now thinking I will take them all back and wear an old outfit I have in the wardrobe and ignore the fact it is exactly what I wore to DD1's christening 4 years ago. Arrggghhh! Whatever I wear, I will probably get sicked on, and everyone else will be younger and more glamorous with flatter tummies, so I don't know why I'm bothering.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 17/05/2007 18:59

Bramshott, hope you are ok without your dh. And I know what you mean about getting the evenings back. K never seems to drop off to sleep after her 6.30 bottle for more than an hour, and then we have to put her off from wanting another bottle for 3 hours, as if she has it too soon she just pukes it back up. So, we spend the evenings eating in shifts and pacifying her. At least I don't have her strapped to my norks all evening though. !

YvieE · 17/05/2007 19:51

Thanks WaspElly, SOKL and Bramshott - Dr did prescribe diprobase and oliatum so will perservere.

liath · 17/05/2007 20:21

Yvie, ds is developing a spotty rash too & has very dry skin. I think it's baby "acne" as dd had it too and it can be a precurser to eczema which dd has (mildly). Dd's only lasted a few weeks though it looked awful. Canestan cream can help, bizarely!!

It's not a good look, am meeting friends to show him off in the next few days and he'll be all crusty & covered in spots, poor little dude !

No routine here yet, but he does sleep reasonably at night - usually feeds 10pm, 3am, 8am overnight so can't complain. Might try a routine at 8 weeks or so.
