I must not spend all day on MN tho, I have to get my pit of a house into some resemblance of normality

SOKL - 10.30 until 05.30? That's fantastic! I dream of getting a stretch of sleep like that! No sleeping pattern here whatsoever unfortunately - am getting pretty knackered. Will def have to start having daytime naps when dh back at work next week.

Hip is ever so slightly improved this morning -the pain killers are Volsaid(?), but have resisted taking the co-codamol so far due to the constipation warnings...

I thought the weather was supposed to be OK today? Its raining and shite and we wanted to go out for the day . Let's hope it picks up as dh's pat leave is fast running out...

Ho hum, Sophie hiccuping away contentedly next to me, better go grab a shower while she's quiet.

Bramshott · 17/05/2007 09:55

EM - good to hear from you, and really glad to hear that things are improving on the hip front. Hope it hasn't blighted your week off with DH.

Well I've tried to introduce a bedtime routine here for the past two days, and I don't think it's going well. First night, got her down by 7.45, but then she woke at 9 hungry - not the plan! THen last night was a bloody nightmare - got her ready for bed by 7.30, fed her in a darkened room until 8.15, by which point I was desperate to eat, so took her off (figuring she couldn't really still be feeding after that length of time when she's normally pretty quick), then she yelled all through dinner, with us popping up and down the stairs, got her up again at 8.45 and brought her downstairs where she sort of fed on and off until 10.00 - certianly no sleeping going on. Brought her back upstairs again with us at 10.00 and fed her again until 10.45ish - then put her in the moses basket - cue more yelling and us up and down. Finally screamed herself to sleep at about 11.30 .

So know I don't know what to do. Should I persevere, or is it just too early to expect her to go to bed in the evening? Mind you, I know lots of you are achieving it, so I think I've answered myself there. DH away tonight so maybe will put us all to bed at 7.30?!? I'm also unsure with the bedtime routine, who I put to bed first? If I do Niamh first, Orla yells or grizzles all the way through stories etc which isn't nice, but I don't see how I can do Orla first if she's going to take 45 mins+ to feed?!

nuttygirl · 17/05/2007 09:58

ARGH...just popping on cos I had the computer on. I'm waiting for HV to arrive. Got up this morning and my kitchen ceiling was soaked. Bloody shower in bathroom has been dripping and seeping through ceiling. Luckily next door are having a bathroom fitted so we nicked their plumber and he says the shower is faulty. Focus are sending someone out to assess it but they want to see the receipt and warranty . I have a bank statement proving I've paid for it but can't find the reciept. If they're funny about it I'm gonna kick off with them. Poor DH will have it all to deal with tho and he's not the best and complaining.

maveta · 17/05/2007 10:16

morning! well i´ve been v. productive this morning, washed a load of nappies, tidied the whole house, vaccuumed and mopped all the floors, now sitting down and hoping I get 15 mins quiet time before N decides it´s time to do something.

We tried again with the ebm for the middle of the night feed, I had 4 ozs expressed but I don´t think it was enough for him . He settled okay after eating but woke up 2 hours later for a feed at 7am and then 3 hours later at 10am.. he´s pretty regular already at eating at 4 hour intervals (a routine he has set himself, am not imposing at all) so this kind of indicates to me he was hungry after the night feed?? So have to try and top that 4 ozs at some point today If I manage to get more out and he still wakes early tomorrow I think dh will have to give him the bottle at another time of day, even though it´s saving my sanity not having to do that feed myself, at least while we´ve still got this thrush.

Love the new name CD!

Oh I can´t remember anything else and N is grizzling x

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 17/05/2007 10:34

Morning! Peace & Quiet at last! Not for long, I'll bet .......

Head is soooo sieve-like atm; but [[hugs] to all those struggling with grizzly babies / demanding toddlers / lack of routine / sore hips / meesy houses ..... I'll 2nd all of those!! It is just good to have somewhere to come & vent.....

I felt quite "Blue" this am, not sure why, bit odd; feeling better now I've got a wee patch of time to myself .... Desperately trying to find an Antenatal Teacher to do our June course as current Antenatal teacher just cancelled on me - v.stressful! Bugger.....

Glad you like the new name - makes me giggle every time!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 17/05/2007 10:45

Hi ladies, Maveta you are well organised!

CD, love the new name.

Bramshott, sorry the "routine" hasn't kicked in yet. It is impossible isn't it with 2. I bathed K and fed her by 7.15 and had hoped she would drop off so I could sort B out, but as per my earlier post, had to sort B with K in my arms - not ideal. K just doesn't seem sleepy at tat time of day - probably because she sleeps so much during the day! Plus, we are v lucky in that she sleeps well from 10.00 ish until 4.00 or 5.00 even.

EM, glad your hip is feling a bit better.
Was he being a pain?

B was ok this am but then I had to ask her 10 times to brush her teeth, and in the end I am ashamed to say I dragged her in to the bathroom to do it. I feel so guilty, but she just doesn't listen, and I so need her to be helpful.

Ellie, hope you have a good minus Matthew!

EM, yes, really lucky to have such a long sleep. TBH once she has got over the colic or reflux issue at that particular bottle, she usually sleeps for 6 hours!

The weather is pants here too. Have to take K for her hearing test soon, so hope the rain will stop. As I have typed that the sun has come out!!

Hope everyone is ok. Need to get on and wrap some bday presents. See you later ladies. x

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 17/05/2007 10:47

Hi SOKL!!!

nuttygirl · 17/05/2007 10:49

Oh dippy I didn't notice the new name , has made me tho!

Must get on with packing, see you all soon! (well hopefully anyway)

Kneehighinnappies · 17/05/2007 10:59

Tee hee hee love the new name "captain dippy super boobs", you sound like a super hero!

Zed is still constipated, poor little mit just seems to spend all day straining away with no luck, I didn't think BF babies got constipated

We have just discovered that Lola can smile so DH and I have been ignoring the other 2 to try and get her to smile for us, she is a funny looking little dude.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 17/05/2007 11:32

"She's a funny looking little dude" .... LOL!

runnyhabbit · 17/05/2007 12:10

morning all

have read everything but forgotten most of it

CDSB - lol at name change

at those who have had things vandalised. What is the point?

Weather is rather nice here today. Bright and sunny, but not esp warm - still, at least I can put washing out

Ds1 has hand foot and mouth, again. But at least he's still got his appetite, thank god, just means he can't go to nursery til the spots clear up.

As for expressing - I'm lucky if I can get 4oz a day Doing it by hand, because its more effective than the pump (have even considered selling the pump) Am trying to express more in the hope it'll increase my supply iyswim. Anyway, I know he's feeding well cos he was weighed on Monday and is now 9lb 14 - not bad considering he was 7lb 3 at birth (which was 5 wks ago!)
Daytime routine going pretty well, he's usually feeding every 3 hours, and I try and make sure he drains me as much as poss. Nights are a different story though, although thought we were doing well last night until dh woke him up when he came to bed - so with him.

As if on cue, ds2 has woken

take care all

xx

mammyjo · 17/05/2007 12:50

Morning all. Good to see you Runny, glad you are doing ok. I was looking at breast pumps in mothercare this morning but dont honestly know when I would find time to express as dd feeds every 2 hours throughout the day. When do you all find time to fit it in?

SOKL, shame K was unsettled again last night. at you getting 6 or 7 hours of unbroken sleep though. I thought I was doing well getting up to 5 hours some nights! Have you thought about an osteopath for K? I know you dont think its colic though so maybe not. Ds went to see one when very small as we had tried everything else. Made a noticeable difference after just one session, may be worth a call to ask their opinion?

Maveta, how do you find the time to do so much round the house. I have managed to put the hoover over and mop the kitchen floor today and nothing else whatsoever!

Bramshott, your bedtime routine sounds like mine when I tried with Ffion! I have given up for now and decided to try again a bit later on.

EM, glad your hip is a bit better. Hopefully its finally on the mend.

Cant remember anything else now. Take care all xxx

elkiedee · 17/05/2007 13:28

Danny and I are still in hospital, much happier than I was but suffering severe internet deprivation symptoms, have escaped to Archway Library next door to Whittington for a very brief attempt to poke head out and say hi, but have to go soon.

Part of today's mad schedule among expressing, breast and supplementary bottle feeding is a brush with the North London media! Will ask Mikey to post more details later.

Luci

elkiedee · 17/05/2007 13:29

Oh, and I hope to get home soon, maybe before the weekend is out, we're definitely being prepared in that direction.

Missing talking to you all and reading what's going on in everyone else's lives, hope all mums and babies and siblings doing ok.

runnyhabbit · 17/05/2007 13:30

hi mammyjo

I express a little at each feed. Mw said it was ok to add to expressed milk, as long it was all within the same 24hrs, and refrigerated between feeds (hope that makes sense!) I've got the Avent manual pump, but it just seems hard work compared to using my hand. I generally keep the expressed milk for dh to use at the weekends!

btw, don't know if you know about this, but a friend of mine told me about a primate sanctuary about 15 miles from Swansea. He said its a really good day out, esp for children. And has got some wolves there, as well monkeys.

oooggs · 17/05/2007 13:35

dippy - love the new name

Bramshott & SOKL - I can relate to your bedtime dilemas.... with dh on lates this week it is really hard to juggle getting DS1 to bed with stories at the right time around dt's feed otherwise they sqwark and whinge and general ruin it for him. ok when dh is around.

Also find I am rushing stories etc... when I have a quiet window, ds1 wise to this and tries to stall me which winds me up and I end up shouting at him how do they know which buttons to press at such a young age????

hope everyone else is good and getting sleep. Erin decided to 'party' last night. She wanted to play and no one else did just got her settled at 5am and ds1 came in, so trouped him backed to bed and fell asleep in there. Was woked by "breakfast please mummy" at 7.30am and had to rush up when I heard him trying to unload the dishwasher .

catch you all soon x

ellenkpa · 17/05/2007 13:37

elkiedee
if you're still there, hello

are you gonna be on TV

OP posts:
runnyhabbit · 17/05/2007 13:43

ds1 has just fallen asleep at my feet

elkiedee · 17/05/2007 13:44

Not tv, local newspaper in Islington, my boyfriend contacts the media in his role as trade union rep about the council attacking his members' jobs and terms and conditions, and cutting local services that council workers work to provide etc. This time, he's written in about how great paediatrics ward is and they want a picture and story on us all - feel good local people stuff. Hope there might be an online link at some point as they have a website (Islington Tribune) and story should appear tomorrow.

This should be so hilarious, and I will have to go soon and put on my make up!

mammyjo · 17/05/2007 13:44

runny, do you know where it is exactly? Never heard of it but it sounds like something ds would enjoy! Or if you know the name maybe I could look it up. Thanks for that, always looking for things to do on weekends and especially with half term coming up!

ellenkpa · 17/05/2007 13:44
