RGee · 11/05/2007 20:28

Wilkie - just to down the mood again, my uncle died at Flixborough .

Wilkie · 11/05/2007 20:29

Seriously? What was his name????

Allan Lambert was DHs uncle - his dad may know your uncle

OP posts:
canmummy · 11/05/2007 20:43

We chose Abigail because it sounded nice especially with our other girls names(the meaning was nice as well but I've forgotten it something to do with fathers (and by our third girl we were running out of options!) She didn't get a middle name until 3 weeks after she was born because we just couldn't decide.

RGee · 11/05/2007 20:46

Pippa - (great middle name btw EAH!! I don't hear it very much) when choosing names, DH and I separately drew up a top ten list and this was on both our lists.
Holly - my fav girls name

If she was a boy she would have been called Dylan (great name eh Lizz!). Middle name Jared but wasn't sure about that so might have gone for Lewis.

JodieG1 · 11/05/2007 20:48

Rgee - we're all ok apart from Ethan bubt he's on the mend now

Can - Hi we're aiming for 6 mmonths too at least

Liz - lol, I don't blame you, I don't want to rush into solids either!

Carrot - Ethan has been watching me eat too and trying to grab food from my plate, he grabbed a roll the other week but it didn't
make it to his mouth anyway hehe.

Galmum - my ds2 is also big, he was 17lb 4 at 15 weeks and is now 17 weeks so I'm thinking about a pound heavier as that's what he gained in the
previous 2 weeks from then. I think finger foods and BLW are pretty much the same too really. I think the whole gist of BLW is allowing them to eat what they want and not trying to shovel food in iyswim. Just offering food for them to pick up and get into their own mouths. I've read that some also use spoons but only held in front of the baby and if it leans forward to eat it then it wants it sort of thing, something like that anyway. The blog has more in depth stuff on in.

I really hope they find that poor girl alive too, Morgan is 3 years old and I keep looking at him and thinking what if and it breaks my heart. I just hope that if she's alive that she isn't being hurt

Wilki - dd's name I've loved since childhood and turned out dh loved it too, she's Caitlin. Ds1 we had from when pregnant with dd if she had been a boy as we both loved the name. Ds2 was a tough one as we had lots of girls names and no boys names that we both liked. We ended up with a couple of names and didn't decide until a few weeks before he was born which was much too late for me really as I like to think of them as their name. He was Ethan They all have middle names of family members.

canmummy · 11/05/2007 20:49

If I'd had boys they would have been called Toby, William or Nathan. Isn't it funny we didn't stick to the same choice each time?

LadyTophamHatt · 11/05/2007 20:50

After 3 boys already it was bloody ahrd work finding a name we both agreed on.

Everything I liked Dh hated and vice versa.

I wanted Frasier as the 1st name, but DH hated it.
DH wanted Tom and all I could think about was teh rhyme "little tommy tucker, the dirty little f*er" so there was NO WAY to was having that!!

A happy coincidence is that my Dad's oldest brother is a George too, and although I had forgotten(he died whe I was very young) my lovely lovely lovely Grandad (dads dad)was a George aswell.
My uncle george kind of think George is named after him and Grandad which is cool but not entirley true.

canmummy · 11/05/2007 20:54

LTH - someone was asking us today if we'd have 4 and I had to say jury was out (as dh was next to me and it was his work colleague I'd never met before). I'd seriously consider it but sometime soon ie next couple of years - give me some positive points?!

ellieandhattie · 11/05/2007 21:05

If Ellie had been a boy she's have been called Fletcher or Joe (with the middle name Richard after my grandpops)

If Hattie had been a boy she'd have been Freddie after chris's great grandad fred (good choice shimmer!) or Jack with middle name Thomas cause we both liked it!

JodieG1 · 11/05/2007 21:06

Can - I always wanted a big family but dh was happy with 1, we now have 3 and that's it as he had the snip after Ethan was born. I'd still love more if he did but he doesn't I did agree with him for the snip though as he really didn't want anymore and our 3rd was a surprise so I felt it was only fair that we decided on this. If he ever wanted more then I'd be up for it but that's not likely anytime soon. We're both 28 though so have time yet if he did change his mind. I'm not expecting that though so am thinking this is it for us and family.

LadyTophamHatt · 11/05/2007 21:07

oh god...how long have you got?

I could simply say it's the best mistake I/we ever made but we all adore our babies so thats obvious.

Having 4 is no harder work than 3 IMO. Once you have more than 2 people think your mad so having 4 sets me in a field almost of my own
It's just lovely being so far from the norm (ie 2 children. No offence to those of you with 2). The older ones absolultey adore having a baby at home and so do I.
I never in amillion yrs thought I'd have any more children after ds3 so having George has made me so happy its quite impossible to describe.
Nothing is ahrd work, nothing is ashock becvause you've done it so many times before taht you could do it all with you eyes shut and hands tied behind your back.

I could go on and on...

Having 4 rocks !!

LadyTophamHatt · 11/05/2007 21:09

it does destroy your typing skills though

ellieandhattie · 11/05/2007 21:11

I can still remember your thread when you discovered George was on his way I hadnt been on MN long and remember someone accusing you of being a troll!

LadyTophamHatt · 11/05/2007 21:12

and I told them to fuck off.

It sthe one and only time I've lost my rag o here....not bad for over 4 yrs service

ellieandhattie · 11/05/2007 21:15

Didnt you start the due in jan thread?

canmummy · 11/05/2007 21:18

Wish I'd joined here when I was still pregnant I was on another parenting site and they weren't half as friendly as you bunch on here

LadyTophamHatt · 11/05/2007 21:19

Yes, the very first one I did.

LadyTophamHatt · 11/05/2007 21:20

I've just popped onto this thread as I'm supposed to be doing homework for DS1 (they have to find an interesting fact that happened in each century from 1200's if anyone has any ideas ) and I have been through the whole spectrum of emotions in just a couple of minutes, actually laughing at Lizz describing herself as a feeder and then the next thing crying over Maddie. Isnt Mums net incredible.

vinorouge · 11/05/2007 22:03

Phew what a lot to read from today! I've spent all day at my mums which finished off with a roast chicken dinner...yum yum...but sadly no dessert a la Lizz...

Lizz - I can recommend the chocolate orange cake from Nigella Feast. It might be the clementine cake others have mentioned??? You boil 2 oranges whole for 2 hours, let them cool overnight and then whizz them in the processor with ground almonds, eggs, sugar and cocoa. Its sooo nice especially with lots of cream and raspberries (I use tinned ones cos of cost too!!!!)
AND CRUMBLES RULE !!! They are the pudding of choice bewteen me and mates - we seem to have apple and blackberry crumble quite often. I had always had it with custard as a kid but quite partial to it with ice-cream these days.

Jodie - I am still BF but going to start with one bottle this week. Am so pleased I've got this far (17 weeks) but my third nipple ailment has meant I've had enough. Starting with one bottle a day this week. Like Rgee I am looking forward to making purees and stuff for weaning.

Rgee - are you amazed at my third posting in a week ???? And that I've copied you and done personals???

Wilkie - We chose Ellen's name just because we liked it. I had always wanted to call a daughter Evangeline cos when I was younger I loved watching The House of Elliot (anyone remember it ??? It was on Sundays on BBC1 about some fashion designers in the 20's). Anyway decided Evangeline was too long for the poor thing to learn to spell and Evie has been v popular lately. DH not keen on Edith so Ellen it was. Dorothy is after my gran who was my fave gran and died 4 years ago. My mum was 'made up' (a particular northern phrase - DH is a scouser) when she heard the middle name and gave me a ring of my grans for Ellen.

Ellen has quite a lot of hair but not as much as Pippa I have to admit. She was born with dark hair but its slowly turning blond- 2 tone at the moment - and she has a BIG bald patch.

EAH - don't buy too many photos!

Dragonhart · 11/05/2007 23:00

I am still bf Jodie (as you know!!- thanks for your help last night) and not planning on weaning anytime soon. Part laziness and part due to health prob in the family.

Gave Ruth an extra feed today as so worried about her weight. She took it hapily but was quite wingy and sick today, which is not really like her. Hopefully it was a bad day.

Going to a party tom. For a 2 year old (oh how my social like has changed!). Got to drive to birmingham and cant be arsed tbh. Sure will have a good time.

Welcome back Shimmer xxx

Sorry, really too tired to do proper personals. Will catch up properly on Sunday xxx

Dragonhart · 11/05/2007 23:05

BTW Ruth's hair is falling out and she has a scally head. She pretty much only has hair in a crescent around the back of her head with a really bald bit where it rubs when she is lying down. Every morning her mattress is covered in hair and so is her brush!

RGee · 12/05/2007 08:43

Morning all! Hope you had a good night.

Hi Kat - I am not the oldest, I am not the oldest, I am not..tra la laaaaa...tra la laaa...

Vino - you again!! I'm amazed! But I did pmsl at your 'third nipple ailment' cos it's sounds like you're a freak with three boobs If only we had three boobs, I could've almost put up with the pain

PCF - hope you had a good night out.

Lizz - how did the pudding go down. Or is that tonight?

What's planned for this weekend then everyone?

Dragon - you're spending the time driving to Birmingham then! I so hope it's a good party for you and lo.

LTH - have fun doing your mile.

Wilkie - enjoy the in laws. Look forward to hearing all about Flixborough.

I'm going out to my fav restaurant in Leeds (sous le nez for those who know the area) with my dad, step sister and a few others. I am really looking forward to it (DH is babysitting) but i'm missing Eurovision. (BTW, that's sad as in 'unhappy', not sad as in 'get a life'). I loooove the cheese of Euro-vision. On the up side, we could only get a table early so should be home by about 9pm so can watch most of it. Hurrah!

Tomorrow DH is running Leeds half marathon which comes near our house, so we'll head out to watch, before heading over for a bbq (in the rain I fear) to celebrate my dad's birthday. DH is on driving duty too so need to go steady on the old vino

Hope you all have a good one, and catch up later.
