Hi it was very quiet here at the weekend. I was goning to post but couldn't get past the tumbleweeed blowing by!!
Fingers crossed for your exam bienchen.
I'm not sure how much baby weight I still have to go but a fair amount of my clothes fir now so I am also not oo worried about it.
I went back to work today .... This morning I sat giving DD her last feed and said to Dh ... I don't want to go but once I was there it was as if I had never been away (don't know if that is good or bad)
DD and DH had a good day and tomorrow she is at the childminders. My head has said we can do the handover at the gate which will be great

Isla slept last night and was only up once Total fluke I'm sure.

She won't stop rolling though - It's really driving me mad. I lay her down and she's over onto her tummy then sometimes back over onto her back. aaarrrghghghgthghghg

Sallyallyally · 02/07/2007 22:58

Lost all my baby weight and more besides, looking younger and more rested by the day. Henry is walking and working on 6 word sentences. He puts himself to bed now at 6:30 and sleeps through, then amuses himself with a few pages of a book until we wake up.
Off to the window to watch the pigs flying past......

suzi2 · 03/07/2007 11:05

pmsl sallyallyally!

Regarding baby weight... I've lost mine [smug emoticon] and have about 5lbs to go before I get to my pre DS weight. Then another stone or two to get to my preferred weight. I highly recommend Paul McKennas "I can make you thin book". I've lost 18lbs in 9 weeks and I've eaten anyhting I want.

Sallyallyally · 03/07/2007 19:14

Suzi...I have 29lbs to go!..nope..not mistyped! It'll come off...but hey...curvey is sexy!

andyrobo237 · 03/07/2007 19:56

Sallyallyally - oh sooo funny!!!! I was almost suckered in!! I was thinking - how smug...... and then the punchline!

I have decided to take T out for a long pram walk 4 times a week come rain or shine (and we all know which one it will be!!) I have dug out my waterproof coat with a hood, dug out the trainers and I'm all set for tomorrow!

T has been a little angel today - managed a 1.5 hour sleep this afternoon - on his playgym, which is very comfy -I had towake him to go for DD from school.

Has anyone thought about or started weaning yet? T looks longingly at our food, but I will wait another 4 weeks as we are away at the end of July and milk is far easier! He is 20 weeks today and managing well on milk!

babydriver · 03/07/2007 22:04

oh this bloody rain!! Washing out and in and out and in and all over the place, garden an unexplored jungle and so sick of wearing jeans and trainers and going to indoor play places with DS1 cos the playground's too wet.

I have decided that Evan is simply completely erratic. He screamed utter blue murder at lunchtime when I was putting him down for his nap - spent half an hour settling him as he was obviously knacked and then just left him as I had to get lunch for me and DS1 (luckily v quick so cd go back without leaving him too long). And yet this evening, I just put him in his cot and came downstairs and he went to sleep without a peep. I just don't understand him at all.

Can't decide about weaning. DS2 is 5 months tomorrow and given his erratic nature I'm wondering whether a bit of food might help. He seems interested in what we're eating, and wants to sit at the table with us. So I'm tempted to crack open the carrot sticks at the weekend and see what happens (am going to try to avoid all the pureeing if poss).

Good idea abt the walking andyrobo - I definitely notice the days I've gone out for a long walk and those I haven't, it really makes a difference.

peachygirl · 03/07/2007 22:35

Hi
sallyallyally I also PMSL. DD had a great day with the childminder and Work was good for me too I was pretty much mobbed on the staircase with shouts of 'peachygirl your back' which was lovely... obviously they don't call me peachy - first names at our school.
I'm also proud to say the expressing is going well I do it at dinnertime - locked away in the sensory room, and off one boob while dd is feeding off the other when we get home at about 4pm and today I got nearly 200mls out.
I'm really holding off weaning although some of my antenatal mates are going for it. I don't want to give Dh anything else to worry about besides the bottles while he has DD and really want to wait for the summer hols so we can take our time with it. DD is also 20 weeks, we have had a bit of night waking recently but I hoping it's a phase!
I think I may be off to a farm tomorrow so fingers crossed that the weather won't be too terrible

Sallyallyally · 03/07/2007 22:55

Re weaning. I would say each to their own! DD1 was weaned at 15 weeks (ok to do so 8 years ago!) and is a tall, healthy girl with no digestive problems or food allergies. Have given Henry the odd taste of apple and stuff, but nothing concrete. (probably a bit too chewy!)...but he is now having a good go at sitting up, seems very interested in food and weighs nearly 20lbs on breast milk alone, so at the 20 week mark (today) I shall try him on a few purees and introduce finger food at about 24/25 weeks. Frankly, whatever works for you and you are happy with I reckon

suzi2 · 03/07/2007 23:20

Regarding weaning, I'll stick some cooked veggies from DSs plate in front of DD at about 6 months if she's sitting unaided and let her get on with it. I'm not too worried if she doesn't eat much (or anything lol). I was sooo worried about the whole weaning thing with DS and I just don't need that stress or see the point in stressing this time! I am keen to not do it before 6 months as we have every allergic condition going in this family. And I'll take it really slowly, as I did with DS. Though I can imagine that DD will get chocolate before her 1st birthday... I won't be so strict lol.

I put DD in the Learn n Groove yesterday. I had thought she'd be too short for it but her feet are flat down and she LOVES it. Wayhey - another babysitter toy

suzi2 · 03/07/2007 23:21

Oh, anyone with older ones know anything about climbing frames??? Don't know what to get DS for his 2nd birthday!

Maazaa · 03/07/2007 23:37

Hi everyone

Just a quick hello as I haven't been on since May ...it's getting harder to sign on and with Jacob being 2 months too old on the thread, I am not in sync with anyone!

Anyway, just a quick update in case you're interested! Jacob just turned six months and despite his early start he's not too far behind. He's rolling onto his side from his back and onto his back from his front! We've been giving him food for a few weeks now and I've surprised myself with making healthy veggie purees. We try meat in the next week or so. He weighs 16 6.

I am fine, back to work in week and dreading it for many reasons, not least how it was for me before I had him. Sorry to hear about your news DCYM - haven't caught up on everything else, trust you all ok?

forgottenfreetime · 04/07/2007 15:12

Congrats to Peachy on a sucessful few days at work - another milestone as a mother I reckon. I have just found out about 'keeping in touch' days. Basically means you can get paid for upto 10 days work wiothout losing maternity leave and pay so will be investigating this with my boss soon. I have lots of friends at work so have been keeping up with developments but may as well be getting paid for it! DD is definitely not ready for weaning yet, can't sit alone yet and wobbles precariously when propped! She's never slept through and is not feeding more frequently so it's not as though it's an issue yet. I think my attitude will be different this time to when I had DS. He was soo small that it felt really important that he actually eat food whereas with DD it will feel ok that she is just playing experimenting for a while.

peachygirl · 04/07/2007 17:42

hello
I will sort out he final meet up list a bit later tonight. We have a man coming to give us a quote for double glazing soon.
DD had a great time with the childminder she's back to daddy time tomorrow

Hello all.

Haven't posted in a while... but not that much to report ! Sandy is growing like a weed (he was 18lbs 4oz at 19 weeks last week, he's just this week developed a passion for standing up holding on to my fingers (and I can't get him to sit in his tummy tub or anywhere else now). On the down side, he had his 3rd set of immunisations this week and he's currently got a sore leg and a temperature, not helped by the horrible muggy weather. However, I'm sure he will be over that in a day or so.

Quick question on that... what sort of temp does he need to get to before you worry about it or call in the doc ? Also, I've got one of these in ear thermometers and if I take his temp 3 times I get 3 different readings, usually higher each time, so which do I believe, the highest or the lowest ?

We are also hanging off weaning till after our hols at least when he will be about 22 weeks. He does seem fascinated by food and he is bfing a lot these days... and I have developed a huge carb craving in the last couple of weeks... I'm not safe alone with a packet of biscuits.. I'm still swithering between baby led weaning or the more standard purees route. Is it possible to do a bit of both ? Baby led ideas seem to make sense, but I'm not sure I can hold off giving him extra till he's old enough for that. He is a big boy for his age (91st centile) and I'm already wondering if he's getting enough nourishment from me ????

MoosMa · 05/07/2007 09:18

Suis I'm sure that if he wasn't getting enough nourishment from you, he wouldn't be the size he is! I'm waivering between puree and BLW too, not sure if it's standard practice for bottle fed babies though, so I think I'll play it by ear. It would be nice to avoid the whole slop phase!

I think 39 is the official 'start worrying' temp, but not sure.

We've had a crappy week here, I've had a cold and both DDs have got it now too. DD1 woke at 2am 2 nights in a row too which is unheard of, but calpol and cuddles soon sorted her out

Sallyallyally · 05/07/2007 15:01

Suis...I think a bit of both is probably nice!! Early days, the food is not really for nourishment, more to get them used to tastes and textures so really whatever works for you and babe, no need to worry about it. Henry is a big breast fed baby too, and I have noticed an increase in the frequency of feeds recently. Have popped him the odd spoon of apple/pear/banana and baby rice and he seems dead pleased!
I agree that 39+ is the worrying temp, but first advice is always to give calpol etc and see if that works. If temp is controllable, and baby settles then should all be fine. DD1 used to spike big temps of 40 and had us worried to death, 30 mins after calpol she would be cooing happily and we'd meet the emergency doctor with slightly embarrassed faces!

suzi2 · 05/07/2007 20:23

Suis, technically for BLW you can't spoon feed them. Though they can spoon feed themselves if you load the spoon or they can use their hands for purees. It's about them being in control of what/how much they eat. That's the purists answer I guess. But I reckon you can pick the best of both worlds. DS was a spoon refuser but I still tried to shovel a yogurt in now and then when he was in the mood. But other than that he fed himself. I have to say that them feeding themselves is awfully easy. I can see the huge advantage now I have an older one too.

Temperatures - Dr told me that consistently about 38.5 and not reducing with calpol it's worth getting checked over. Above 39 and you should seek advice. I'd go with the hottest reading you can get as you tendd to find that the lower readings are because it's not quite in.

peachygirl · 05/07/2007 21:09

Maazaa I didn't post to you before but I hope work will be OK for you.

babydriver · 05/07/2007 22:15

Thanks peachy - I'll send you an email.

Well done to everyone who's made it into work. I don't think I cd function in a fully adult environment at the moment, so hats off to you.

Evan seems a little more settled last few nights (now I've gone and jinxed it...). We decided to drop the dream feed as it didn't seem to help him sleep through, and he's certainly been waking less without it. Now just doing 6:30pm, 1:30am and 5:30. I don't mind doing these if he's not waking at lots of other times in the night too. Still dithering about solid food. He seems fascinated by any of us eating - will break off from the boob to gawp at me if I try and snack at the same time as bfing. I guess I'll just see how we feel over the next week or so.

Take care all.

Bienchen · 06/07/2007 17:40

Hi Peachy - thanks for the update. I can do the Midlands one if nobody else is desperate. is everybody ok to CAT me?

Off to Kew this w/end if the weather holds as it is one of the few rare w/ends when DP is having Sat and Sun off! And he is finishing his %$&!?! assignment today! Hooray, as I was beginning to crack up having to entertain DD nearly by myself 24/7.

No weaning here - have tried but not v interested, so we have shelved idea for now and will try again in a few weeks. She seems contented with milk and sleeps well, so I am happy enough.

SBN - the Beehinds are great but DD christened them immediately with the worst poo ever (sorry if tmi...) - thank goodness it came out in the wash

Have a great w/end!!

peachygirl · 06/07/2007 21:09

Thats great bienchen Thanks for that.
Baby driver I have moved you email so will get back to you over the weekend
I now have 10 days left at work til the hols!
I bought two new BFing bras to day , trying out M and S ones. (TMI alert) does anyone else find they get very sweaty??
My child minder has dropped DD off at work and several people said she was a 'bonny baby' which I love. It's a phrase my mum uses and it really made me proud

Hi all, hope eveyone is preparing for a lovely weekend. Dh is in Germany so I'm home alone for three days now so have lots of things planned. Went on a playdate today for DS, so he was happy. Tomorrow my mum is babysitting so I can go out with some friends and I plan to take them swimming on Sunday. PLan is to wear DS out soi he can't get up to mischief! Have just signed him up for playgroup in September also. It seems a bit scary but I think he will benefit from something a bit more structured since he is a bit of a tearaway! Also (saving the best news for last) he has done two poos in the potty this week and one wee! Hurrah! One at my mums and one at home tonight at bedtime. Am contemplating starting to potty train properly, have only been saying would you like to sit on the potty at bedtime at the moment! It will be bliss to only have one set of nappies to wash, and bf poo is sooo much nicer! (Although I guess that's only for a few more weeks now). What an exciting life I lead!

MoosMa · 06/07/2007 23:16

FFT I'm hoping to potty train DD1 soon too! She's getting very good at weeing on demand and does most poos in potty too, but she still seems so young. She's 22 months now, how old is your DS?

suis · 07/07/2007 00:11

Thanks to everyone for the help with the temp thing.. Sandy was vvv grumpy yesterday, just wouldn't let me put him down and would not sleep at all through the day, though he exhausted himself enough to conk out early at night and sleep soundly. He's still a bit warm today, but I can now feel little bumps of teeth in his gums so I am reassured that this is all just teething related, even if it is a touch early.

suzi2 (& J9 & HairyCaterpillar if you are looking in) we must get organised and have our Scottish meetup in Stirling... if the folks down south can set one up, I'm sure we can too...
