Not sure if a thread exists already. If so, point me in the right direction.
Here's a place to celebrate our bundles of joy and find support for everything from stitches to breastfeeding, partners and sleep and anything else we may come across in the early days to challenge us!

My babe is waking more because of the heat! A bit cooler here today thank goodness!

My baby is waking more in the heat too. He can't seem to nap for very long in the day and then gets tired and grumpy. How is everyone managing comforting a hot baby when they are so hot themselves. I am getting really hot and bothered and losing patience even though it's not his fault.

Lavenderdays · 24/07/2018 12:20

Welcome Avocado x

Anyone else with older dcs not venturing far in the heat? Summer Hols are upon us here and I am feeling exhausted from poor sleep (last night was slightly better). It puts me off driving very far (I think my general anxiety has ramped up due to tiredness) plus heat. Ventured to the park this morning (lovely park in semi-rural location), there were absolutely no other children up there (so no other adults to talk to whilst children let off a bit of steam). Would have thought it was the perfect morning for the park as today we have cloud cover etc. All I can do is imagine people getting about and visiting exciting places whilst just getting to the park with 3 dcs felt like an achievement!

avocadoincident · 24/07/2018 17:08

Well done you for getting out. We are reclusive between the hours of 10am and 6pm as it's too hot to go out.
I do have an older dd but she's 19 so a bit of an age gap and no park outings for us any more.

I am taking an adventure on a bus tomorrow though as I'm trying to not use my car whilst on maternity leave.

Anyone heading back to work soon? Some of friends are returning soon.

avocadoincident · 24/07/2018 17:09

Re: hot babies, we go round the house pretty much naked and I've bought a clip on fan to go the pram from amazon

Smurf123 · 24/07/2018 17:12

We also bought a clip on fan for pram and when we are in the house ds is just in a nappy
Im a teacher so I went back the last week of term in June and will start back properly around the 3rd week of August.

Lavenderdays · 24/07/2018 20:25

sahm here, have been for years, likely to continue to be one for the next few years at least.

blinkineckmum · 24/07/2018 22:12

I'm also a teacher but going back June 2019!!

avocadoincident · 24/07/2018 22:39

I'm a teacher too!!! But I'm having a career break for a while. We will be soooooo poor but hey ho!

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight😩🤞

blinkineckmum · 30/07/2018 18:50

Oh my... baby is 4.5 months and moving! Commando crawling. Can't believe it! Very proud. On the other hand I have prolapse symptoms... wasn't there someone else on here in the same boat? Hope everyone's well.

OP posts:
Vickylou78 · 31/07/2018 09:50

There was someone with prolapse issues... can’t remember who though. Make sure you get yourself to gp and get referred to a woman’s health/pelvic floor physio. I’m seeing one but for my separated abdominal muscles. Is it possible you’ve got a separation too and so when using your core you are over engaging to compensate and causing prolapse? Anyway hope you can get it checked out x

Vickylou78 · 31/07/2018 09:52

Ps. Amazing you’ve got a crawler already! My little one isn’t crawling yet but did roll over from her back to on her front yesterday!

MrsL2016 · 31/07/2018 11:21

Wow crawling! I have a roller here too. Been rolling from back to front for a couple of weeks but just done front to back this morning. I think he just hates tummy time haha.

blinkineckmum · 31/07/2018 11:46

Good work rollers! I had a third degree tear which healed fine but meant I had a very good postnatal check. They identified very weak pelvic floor and I also have separated stomach muscles. So I have been having physio too, thankfully!

Lavenderdays · 31/07/2018 22:17

My little one rolls over. It's funny with my older dcs, I couldn't wait for them to crawl/walk etc. which they both went on to do at an early age. Now, I am in absolutely no hurry for baby to be on the move because I know it's then that all hell breaks loose: stressful for me because I've got the older dcs toys lying around - bits of plastic tat and lego etc. It's going to happen sooner or later and probably sooner than later!

For anyone who has had a C-section. Was your scar area a bit tender for a few months after the op? I think the scar is healing alright but I think I've got a bit of bruising there. DC2 is just the right height to give me cuddles that make me feel tender (and I tense up to protect). Should say I am nearly 5 months on from having baby.

RayM · 03/08/2018 20:45

Oh my gosh I haven’t checked in here for so long! It’s been good to read about how everyone has been getting on! The last 4 months have been a blur!

@Lavenderdays re c section: Yep, soooo tender and sensitive. My husband only has to give me a cuddle from behind and I’m squealing and pulling away in shock 😂. I’m not sure when that goes away! That whole area is still just so strange to me. Still wearing huuuuge knickers and leggings to go over it. Can’t stand anything even near to touching it.

Haha she’s only my first but I already get where you’re coming from - I was sooo proud when she was rolling. But now I just want her to stay still for a moment!! She’s also taken to sleeping on her tummy which is causing me no end of stress!

@blinkineckmum Wow!!! Crawling!!!! Strong baby! My little girl has been rolling forwards and backwards for a couple weeks now. She’s tucking her legs under and pushing but not there yet!!

I’m enjoying motherhood more the older she gets. I get so much enjoyment from teaching her new things and seeing what she picks up herself. Now that she’s not so fragile it’s also been good for me 😊. But saying all this I’m still shocked to see my little baby grow and long for the newborn days again - shockingly, because they were SO hard!!

I reluctantly gave up on breastfeeding very early on (around 8 weeks) because it just wasn’t working for us. That’s the biggest thing I’m still struggling with.

RayM · 03/08/2018 20:48

@avocadoincident hello!

Shehz21 · 03/08/2018 20:51

Hello everyone. Can I join?
Baby was born 14 March 2018 and currently 4.5 months. Going through the dreaded 4 month sleep regression ever since she hit 16 weeks and it's basically a nightmare for us.
Had an almost 3 rd degree tear which healed fine but SORRY TMI a very dry vulva nowadays... Haven't had sex ever since I had baby! DH isn't keen with the heat thankfully....
Hope everyone is doing great!
Oh and my LO is sitting unaided but hasn't yet rolled! Definitely far from commando crawling..

Lavenderdays · 03/08/2018 22:49

Hi Ray...thanks for the insight re C-section, I am sorry to hear that you are sensitive in that area too but it is reassuring to know that I'm not alone in a long recovery.

blinkineckmum · 05/08/2018 08:48

Welcome Shehz! Our babes have the same bday! Wow, sitting? Mine can't do that yet! I had a 3rd degree tear. It healed fine but I am paranoid about my pelvic floor, so no sex here either... though dh is very keen! I have a lot of scar tissue so just generally nervous.

LoveRainbow02 · 05/08/2018 21:29

Hi everyone mind if I join?
My ds was born on 14th March and is now 5 months old and cut his first tooth last week! How is everyone else's little ones sleeping? My ds seemed to hit the 4 month sleep regression but is slowly getting back into a routine. Hasn't had a night feed for a few weeks now. I also started weaning early for reflux and he's taken to it brilliantly. He rolls over onto his tummy when on the bed but won't do it on the floor on his mat lol.

Lavenderdays · 05/08/2018 21:55

Hi Everyone. My dd (nearly 5 months) seems to not be sleeping very much...wondering if it is heat related but the house is fairly cool. She would nap a fair bit in the day but not so much over the past few days. I plan to finish breastfeeding at the 6 month mark and hoping that when she has solids, that she will start sleeping better. She's not sitting up yet, so not hope of weaning until she does. The ongoing lack of sleep is not good for any of the family...I am enjoying her don't get me wrong but I desperately need to sleep, it is so hard when you have two other children to look after.

Smurf123 · 05/08/2018 22:39

Hi lavender I hope you start getting more sleep soon.. My ds is 5 months old today.. We are just about getting back to a bit better sleeping at night. He had gotten himself into a bit of a routine and was going to bed at 10 and then feeding around 2 and 6 before getting up along 7/8. Then about 4 weeks ago he went back to feeding every 2 hours throughout the night. That last until about 4 days ago .. He slept from 10-4 then to 7, then the next night was feeding every 3 ish hours then another good night 11-2 then to 630 last night was back to being every 2-3 hours... But tbh still an improvement on the past few weeks..
He can't sit up independently bit can sit and hold his head up really well either in the high chair of on your knee.. I tried him with baby porri a few days ago and he didn't really eat any.. Hadn't tried again until today when he ate a whole tablespoons with and looked for more (although he didn't get more than that) he has been showing an interest in food for a while though and I'm not pushing it..I'm a little undecided in it all but I don't want him to be going hungry either..

blinkineckmum · 06/08/2018 20:27

LoveRainbow, hi! Another 14th March! We also got teeth this week! Can't believe you get a full night's sleep though!

OP posts:
LoveRainbow02 · 06/08/2018 21:12

@blinkineckmum - it's a hit and miss with sleep the now. He used to go down at 8 every night but has recently changed to between 8.30 and 9pm. He usually wakes around 1 or 2 and takes his dummy and sleeps until between 5 and 7, takes a bottle and goes back down until between 8.30 and 10.30. His sleep has gotten so much better compared to recent weeks but I still have some nights where he wakes frequently and will take some water. I've tried him with night feeds and he just isn't interested. How is your lo sleeping?
