Hello everyone. My DS2 was born on July 4th and I have been waiting for a "Babies born in July" thread since then, but none has appeared! (at least I don't think it has). So I thought I should start one, I didn't have Mumsnet for DS1 and I wish I had. I thought it should be July/August since almost all of the July babies were/are late! How is it going for you all?

littledonkeyrach · 15/12/2004 16:20

It can be a godsend!!!!

But apparently if you do not give the recommended min dose it can have a hyperactive effect.....not sure where I read this.

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 15/12/2004 21:49

I used to give my eldest dd medised, it was a godsend.Emily has araging cold.hacking cough etc poor thing, she is due to have her final jab tomorrow.Does this mean she cant have it?I dont know whether they give it with a cold or not, shall I just take her up there and see what they say?She doesnt have a temp, but I dont feel happy letting her have the jb, trouble is I had to cancel it last week cos I was ill( and still am, ear infection, sinuses etc)

littledonkeyrach · 16/12/2004 10:27

Evie missed her first lot as she had a cold. The dr wanted us toi have it done, but I said no! I thionk it is best to see what you think, as the hv said, mums know best!!

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 16/12/2004 12:13

we have phoned the drs up and they advised leaving it for a week, said they didnt want to give her something else to fight off aswell as her cold, feel quite relieved! she is coughing like mad and had abad night last night,

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 16/12/2004 12:21

I still cant beleive that this time last year Emily was a tiny dot on a scan(after an ectopic scare)and that I couldnt even keep a glass of water down, god where does the time go?

RudolfsGotToothache · 16/12/2004 21:13

MerryKittyMas - That's sounds fab! Definitely get in touch when you move. How come you are returning to the Chosen Land? Can't blame you though.

I have been blessed this time with a child that seems (for now) to know the difference between night and day! Ds is 3.5yrs old and still wakes through the night!! He was still have 2 night feeds at 8mths old and sometime just stayed awake for hours. Dh and I were distraught. This time Dd has settled into a sort of routine really well. She goes to sleep and 8pm (on the sofa.... I know I know... ). She then does stir until about 4-4.30am. Takes a bottle then back to sleep until 7.30am! We have the odd bad night, but mostly okay. I didn't believe Mothers when they told me their baby slept most of the night.... After the experience with Ds I thought that was impossible!

As a result I am now supping a wee glass of wine whilst Mumsnetting! Ds is at Granny's, Dd is asleep, Dh is at work....... BBLLLLLISSS!

Makes me want another baby.

HelloMama · 16/12/2004 21:26

Has anyone else been swimming with their little one? I started taking Ruben to lessons a few weeks ago and he really loves it, even going underwater! I have been doing an induction week at work this week, whilst DH has been a stay at home dad. I needn't have worried as they have really enjoyed their time together. In the new year DH will be at home every Thursday. I've told him that mumsnet is always there is he's ever in a crisis and can't get hold of me!

RudolfsGotToothache · 16/12/2004 21:31

Hellomama - I haven't been swimming yet, but I really want to! Not feeling too great about my 12stone frame at the moment. I don't think I'll even fit into my swimsuit! I'm not vain, just really paranoid about it. I'd love to pluck up the motivation too though.

HelloMama · 16/12/2004 22:09

oh i know what you mean about the swimming costume issue! my pale legs (which i have not had time to shave) quivering in the water.... the things i do for my son!

Harrysmom · 16/12/2004 22:41

Hi all.
Im new to Mumsnet, and a little late posting a message on this already huge thread - hope you dont mind- My DS Harry was born on July 18 this year and weighed 7lbs. He was rushed through for an emergency caesarian as he had a knot in his cord and it was lowering his heart rate as he came down the birth canal...but all well in the end. He is still only a little boy at 13lb, but gorgeous, bright and chatty. Am enjoying reading all of your messages, Mumsnet is great for first time mums like me who know sweet Fanny Adams about babies!!

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 17/12/2004 09:14

welcome to mn harrysmom

littledonkeyrach · 17/12/2004 10:14

Hi, harrysmom, soon you'll be addicted too!!!

merrykittymas · 17/12/2004 10:41

Welcome Harrysmom my DD was born 20th July and she's just a tiddler at 13lbs 4 last weigh in.

Toothache - we have to move again because of space and we were looking around and thinking don't want to live here etc then we went home in October and we just thought "why are we down there when everyone else is up there" we just miss it too much. It means I have to give up a great well paid job but there is more to life than money, also means DD gets to see her family a lot more. We always knew we would move back eventually. I've applied to do teacher training next year so fingers crossed they'll let me do it.

DD has the night sleeping cracked she goes 11-7 most nights wakes has a feed then goes straight back to 9 or 10. Lucky I know, daytime naps are a different story altogether!

I'm too scared to take DD swimming at our local pool it's really scummy

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 17/12/2004 11:13

well if any of you have read due in august thread you will see that im expecting again!just found out yesterday, so will be able to write on a babies born august thread next year too, ha!ha! hasnt sunk in yet.

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 17/12/2004 11:16

Oof course I didnt mean funny ha!ha! more ha! ha! as in how stupid can one get?

littledonkeyrach · 17/12/2004 13:40

You're really not stupid, maybe unlucky.
Have you decided wqhat to do yet?
Do you have family aroung that can help you?

Eshay · 17/12/2004 13:56

Can you believe I have not been able to find this thread for ages? I thought no one was talking for a while but then decided that it was just too long. I did a search and discovered we have moved. Maybe it was mentioned somewhere but I missed it. I will take the rest of the afternoon to catch up on reading everyone's messages

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 17/12/2004 17:14

no my family all live in wales, I intend to carry on but am seeing the docs on mon

merrykittymas · 17/12/2004 22:02

i know eshay i had to hunt around for it too

congratulations spacecadet is this number 5 part of me is jealous cos I can't have another until at least 2006 now

RudolfsGotToothache · 17/12/2004 22:28

Am worried about you spacecadet. Are you okay. Surely by the time you get to number 5 it doesn't impact that much. My Mum said that about No4! They just kind slot in nicely. Good luck. I'm sure it's just the shock and your DH will come around.

Sweetkitty - The house prices here are still high, but are MUCH more realistic. You'll get a brand new 3 bedroomed semi-detached in a really sought after area for around £100k. 4 bedroomed detached are probably around £175k. Good luck on your house hunt.

MrsEvs · 17/12/2004 23:08

Congratulations space cadet, hope you are feeling OK. I'm sure it will take a while to sink in but hope all goes well at the docs.

Phoebe just lovely at the moment. Just had to buy her a proper car seat as she has just outgrown her carrier thingy, can't believe she has got so big so fast!

Still sleeping like an angel, now goes down about 8/8.30 and wakes at 7.30/8 in the morning - I can't tell you how many lucky stars I have thanked!

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 18/12/2004 10:47

yes it is no 5!! should have paid more attention in biology!!!we will have to extend our house or think about moving, trouble is house prices are astronomical round here.em is suffering with her cold. kept us up all night last night, she cant breathe , bless her, she is covered in snuffle babe!

merrykittymas · 18/12/2004 16:13

hi all

I'm sure everything will be fine for you spacecadet this baby is meant to be!

DP fed Abbie today for the first time and she had carrot for the first time and I think they both loved it. He couldn't believe how she kept opening her mouth for more bless her. I bought her a few more little toys from ELC today as well but thats me finished my Christmas shopping.

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 18/12/2004 18:24
