Thanks for the messages

The problem is its the bank thats charged me for stopping the cheque, not Bump to 3. They told me to stop it but wouldn't cover the fee because they said there was no cheque in with the order but I know there was. The thing is I didn't want to risk them finding it and banking it when I've re-ordered with someone else. I probably will write and complain but it's annoying that I have to and I bet they won't refund it. It's a shame really because I like their products but I went to Great Little Trading Co instead and they were really nice and their customer service was brilliant.

Bristols - I would definitely recommend reading the HP books, if nothing else it's sheer escapism for a few hours a day. I'm totally hooked and sad that they are coming to an end. I'm looking forward to the new movie, anyone know when it's out? I have to book a babysitter!

HenriettaHippo · 21/06/2007 16:48

In cinemas 12 July. oooh, not long!!

Bummer about the cheque, I see now what you mean. I agree better to be safe than sorry. I'm surprised it costs the bank anything to stop a cheque that hasn't been presented though... they want their pound of flesh...

Off to do nursery pick up now. Then tomorrow DH and I are off to the other side of the country (near Louth) for a wedding on Saturday - a night in a pub tomorrow night (nice one!!), and hotel on Sat night. The children are staying here with my mum and dad. hurray!!

Coriander73 · 21/06/2007 17:22

HH...feeling just fine today, much brighter & like my old self! The sun is helping that's for sure.. I seem to have calmed down a bit (internally IYSWIM), taking things in my stride & trying to accept new chages etc. Change is hard at the best of times isn't it?

Mabel, J is rather clingy moreso than DD ever was-tends to cry when I leave the room etc. At nursery he is fine but the minute he sees me when I pick him up he bursts into tears! Apparently according to the book I'm reading (Raising Boys by Steve Biddulph) boys have much greater levels of seperation anxiety than girls! Mummy tends to be the main person in their lives until they are 6...& they just don't like being apart from her. Whether this is strictly true I don't know but reading it J seems to be following the pattern thus far..! Quite agree though, it is very taxing....esp as I'm just not used to it with DD.

I read all HP books until the last one when I got stuck at about page 20 & just have never picked it up again. Don't quite know what happened tbh as I loved all previous 5. Perhaps I should make an effort to re-read in anticipation for number 7!

Both DC in nursery today for last full day until I get another job (if ever!). From next week it's just two mornings a week so DH was off today & we managed to sort the house out a bit, I made scrummy lunch & we sat in the garden with a bottle of rose in the warm sunshine...total bliss.. I have to say I was up for an afternoon of uninterrupted BD but I did my back in some what this morning at the gym so have gingerly been walking around with one of those deep heat patches on...- well with hindsight just as well as the less BD we have the less chance of number 3!!!! Poor DH, doesn't ever really get it does he?!

bristols, are you on the yahoo site? compo, up to meet? Mabel, I might be in Nottingham soon....

OP posts:
compo · 21/06/2007 18:55

Hi Cori - just had another read through of the messages and saw there was one about meeting... sorry about that.
It's a bit tricky getting to Bluewater from where I am on public transport but would love to meet up.
How is being a stay at home mum going? An afternoon in the garden with a bottle of rose and yummy food sounds much more my thing at the moment than an afternoon in bed
Sorry to hear about your back, I wake up every morning all stiff at the moment, these babies they've made us all into old women before our time

Coriander73 · 21/06/2007 19:24

lol compo!! How can we get you there then? I assume you don't drive? We'll definitely have to work something out..

BTW, does anyone's lo's watch In the Night Garden? Stumbled across it yday & tonight it was DH who suggested that DD watch it if she wanted- which she did & really seemed to enjoy it. Seems a tad eccentric surely it's made by the same people who did Teletubbies right?!

Off to have a hot bath, see whether it'll ease pain a bit - this does remind me of how awful it was when I had constant sciatica with J....hmm...perhaps it really is a good idea to call time on the children? So hard to difinitively say no though isn't it?!....

mabel1973 · 21/06/2007 20:07

cori - your lunch sounded great, you must have had better weather than us because it tipped it down here this afternoon. Let me know if you are in notts, it would be lovely to meet up...oooo how exciting!!

DS1 is a big 'in the night garden ' fan, i think it is a lovely program and would've loved it when i was small, when Bagpuss and Camberwick Green were the thing to watch! so much nicer than a lot of the childrens tv shows that are on (DS1 hates things like lazy town and BRum i think they scare him!)

I managed to get in to town this afternoon and the sales have just started and i managed to get a dress for that posh wedding we are going to. It's from house of Fraser and is a Coast one, kind of browny black (sounds gross i know) all drapey in a kind of jersey, it is very flattering and looks great on, as soon as i tried it i knew it was The Dress! and only one left in a size 12...Fate!!!

mabel1973 · 21/06/2007 20:08

oh and it was reduced freom £89 to £59 - yipeeee!

fairysnuff · 21/06/2007 20:32

Ooh, bargain Mabel! Well done you!

I watched 'In The Night Garden' today, funnily enough!
It's a bit random, isn't it?
My nieces had mentioned it, so I thought I would watch it cos it was just coming on as I was flicking through.
I liked the tumblyboos!
What was the first line of thier silly song, I didn't catch is so jusy keep singing the last three lines to myself!

Tumblyboos sit on the floor
Tumblyboos touch your nose
Tumblyboos that how the song goes
tada!!!

What was the munki thingy called again? Or am I getting all confused!

HP fan here!!
But I can never remember how they all go together now.
I read through them all in anticipation of the last book coming out, reckon I will have to do it again though cos I have forgotten again!!!!!
oh dear

Coriander73 · 21/06/2007 21:02

fab bargin Mabel!! Obviously meant to be.. Will definitely call you when I'm up there.....

I did think that the music (for in the night garden) was rather lovely...almost magical, made me feel quite nice..lol!!! Yes, random is a good description but then again the Teletubbies are rather random too aren't they & they're become such a huge sucess. DD really really liked it, so much so she's asked if she can watch it again tm! DS was on the floor getting changed for bed when it came on & he just seemed mesmorised & giggled in parts.....the creaters obviously know they're on to something! Yes, DD doesn't watch a lot..she loves Fifi, Balamory & Big Cook but that's about it. Isn't really into anything else & I don't really like the "bigger" catoons for her quite yet....but it's funny how she now asks for the television when before she never did - just passed it by.

Personally, I rather like the little red people, what are they called? They all go to bed at the end in a little house, in matchbox beds. Very cute. Also the Pinky-ponk and his mate, whose name I can't remember either... DS1 watched it tonight as well (we were all doing the same thing at the same time - spooky...). When the carosel closed up after the "story" DS said, "oh the roof is going back to normal now", as though it was perfectly natural, and something that happens all the time. It was nice and gentle, perfect for 6.30, and I like the soft music at the end and the night sky. Getting carried away, aren't I ? As DH is still away, DS1's been watching it each night after their bath, while I give F his milk in the quiet of his bedroom. Sooo much better than the horrible horrible Tweenies...

Mabel, congrats on the dress! I'm wearing an outfit to the wedding we're out that involves white linen trousers (got to be v. careful with the underwear - good job I went for waxing today eh? ), and a top that requires a stick on bra. I haven't worn it since before I was pregnant with DS1, so that's nearly 4 years. Suddenly thought today what if the stick on bra doesn't fit any more, after all, last time I wore it, I could still fail to hold a pencil under them. Now I could keep a whole pencil case in place.

I'm so glad you lot are here listening to me! Feel like I haven't spoken to an adult all week...!! Although did have a friend round last night - she's doing a beauty therapy course, so was practising makeup on me over a pizza and salad.

zmandaz · 21/06/2007 22:31

Erm, I do believe it's the Ninky-Nonk but I could be wrong. DD quite liked the Night Garden but loves Teletubbies and for some reason Peppa Pig. She always giggles when they snort! She also loves puppets especially the cat puppet on Step Inside. It's funny to hear her laughing at things like that. Some of the presenters on those programmes are a bit weird though. I'd love to see their audition tapes!

MunkiBaby · 21/06/2007 22:41

i've watched the "night/garden" ...maybe a ocuple weeks ago. i found it very interesting. i dont think ds was awake at the time...so that he can get a glimpse of it, i've set the reminder for tomorrow, 6:20pm.... i'm sure ds will be momentarily intrigued. and if not him, then i'll watch it. heheheh

so, as of last monday, the weaning has stopped completely. and ds has taken to the tommee tippe "nipple-teat" bottle very very well. and now, he wants a bottle before bedtime and naps, which when i think about it, isnt much diff from when he was boobied...

they certainly havent let down yet. how long does this usually take (to dry up)? also, is there something that i should be doing or do i just let the process happen naturally? unsure.

and on to the diet front...started monday, and so far, 9 pounds down!! ok well, not a shock really because its a very low cal diet so its to be expected. i'm hoping once i'm down to healthy bmi, i will have learned how not to eat. ;)

eek! baby dude is awake and suddenly screaming /...better go!

hope you all are doing devine!

p.s. zman, very well done on the stone!!

compo · 22/06/2007 07:51

blimey Munkibaby - can you post a quick summary of what you're eating for the rest of us with some to lose still!
I had an idea about meeting up in Bluewater for anyone who fancies it. I can't get there on public transport with double pushchair so I thought maybe we could meet up for a day's shopping, gossiping, lunching...... without kids! Maybe on a Saturday? What do you think Coriander?

Coriander73 · 22/06/2007 08:55

compo, sounds great...I'll just have to coordinate with DH work etc but don't see a problem. I need to buy some bras for my saggy boobs (lol at pencil case HH!!!) at John Lewis & a new hoover (how sad)..lol..

How spooky that we all seemed to be night gardening last night!! Yes HH, the red people whatever they're called are rather cute, DD likes them but wants to know why they are in the tree.. I cannot abide the bloody tweenies, think they are ghastly, I wont let DD watch them.....is that terribly mean of me?!

OP posts:
MunkiBaby · 22/06/2007 10:52

Compo, i couldn't agree with you more about the tweenies. everything about it annoys me...the way they look, the songs they flippin sing, and especially the IRRITATING voices!

egad! that sounded harsh...sorry to offend anyone who likes them, The Tweenies are just not for me. But i will be night gardening later this evening.

compo, if i was actually eating food, i'd gladly share the secrets...however, there isnt any food involved. purely liquid. very very tolerable and huge selection of flavours. the "drinks" give me exact amounts on all nutrients, including carbs, to survive the day so that the fat stores are used for energy.
but the harder part is missing the texture of food. so when i prepare food for dh and ds, i tend to spend the duration of the feed with my face in the bowl, inhaling the aroma! ha! ((tried every other bleedin' diet out there and i could never seem to beat the inner munki, wanting to eat everything insight! dont know why this one's diff, but i've stuck with it 100% ...so far. ))

mabel1973 · 22/06/2007 11:21

Well done on the diet Munki - although i have to admire you for being strong willed i could not manage a liquid diet...i would miss food too much.

The little red people on night garden are the pontypines i think?? DH has just discovered re-runs of the Crystal Maze on one of the cable channels and Ds1 absolutely loves it! it is one at the same time as night garden so we'e not watched it this week.

HH - white trousers and stick on bra - you are a braver woman than me!

On the photo front, i have to say I am quite shocked at how much people have paid for pictures to be done at Venture, if DH charged that much we'd have no money worries. My advice is find a good local independant photographer, and get it done much cheaper and just as good, incidentally we have just had a canvas done of the DS's and you just send your jpeg to this website and for a 2ft x 4ft canvas we have paid £80....pretty good I think?

zmandaz · 22/06/2007 11:33

Mabel - is that Photobox? I've had a few prints from them and they seem very reasonable. I love the collage you can do. I've been uploading photos of DD but am going to hang on until her first birthday so I can do over her first year. It's such a lovely way to display pics. My best friend got one of her DD and it's lovely and only costs about £20. I agree Venture is extortionate. I will just be getting my free pic but they make it very hard for you to say no! You haveto go to a preview where they put all the pics on a projector, play music and give you wine etc. I'm going to be brave though as I really can't afford their prices. I've just been into Mothercare and they have a photographer coming in a few weeks and you can get a nice pic for £4.99 and their huge ones only cost about £100. I know they won't be as arty as the other place but they'll still be nice I'm sure.

I agree on the tweenie front! DD quite likes it but only when they sing and dance. I bought her a Barney DVD to see what she made of it but she's not really interested in that either.

I haven't been brave enough to take DD swimming yet as I'm very self concious of my weight but have decided to take her on holiday and see how she likes it. I just bought some Huggies swim nappies and can't believe how expensive they are! Has anyone else used them? I hope their worth the money!

compo · 22/06/2007 11:40

No, wasn't me who doesn't like the Tweenies. Never really sat down and watched it I have to say!
Munkibaby - is it Lighterlife your doing? The only liquid diet I could do is wine and gin

MunkiBaby · 22/06/2007 11:43

zmandaz, i have been reluctant to take ds swimming and to experience the water for the same reasons. you are not alone there! but soon, fingers crossed, we'll feel better about it. keep up the good work with the losses!

oh and mabel...i have never ever ever ever had willpower...that has always been the issue...ok that and a plethora of other things. (stress, pregancy, boredom, emotion, blah blah blah) i DO miss food...i'm terrified that i'll miss it too much.
i cant explain it because i just dont know why myself, but i just dont know where this will power has come from...

mabel1973 · 22/06/2007 12:53

Mandaz - it is a guy called 'The time man' based in leicester. i am not sure what else he does, but our canvas came this morning it looks amazing we are going to put it on the stairs i can't wait to get it up.

It is absolutely tippingit down here. I have to leave the house in a few minutes as it is DH's bro's birthday today and we are having lunch at MIL's....so i have got to get two children, presents, cards and a huge chocolate cake that me and DS1 made in to the car, with my freshly straightened hair.....hmmmm!

MunkiBaby · 22/06/2007 16:40

just wanted to share this Photobox offer with you all..i just registered and am taking advantage of the free prints...

hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right?
have a LOOK.

Coriander73 · 22/06/2007 19:37

Can I just have one proud Mummy moment?!! Pretty please? Well, as you are all aware my company was recently taken over by a big international company. As part of their marketing campaign etc to link our company with theirs they decided to run a beautiful baby competition open to their employees world wide with the top three winning a photo digiframe box. Anyhow, they had about 800 entries across the world &....J came in 3rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never done anything like that before but I was so bored & peeved with work about 5 weeks ago that I just decided on a whim to send in a photo....can't believe it really

OK, moment over.....

fairysnuff · 22/06/2007 20:16

Muccapucca!
That was the one.
His name made me smile!

I agree, it was crazy that we were all watching at the same time!
Those pontipine things kept farting I thought!? So took against them

So glad I am too far away from anywhere to be tempted by mega exspensive pics.
My wedding photographer has become a friend so I will be able to get her to take pics soon, she will love it, she is just so enthusiastic about taking pics!! I keep telling her to charge me but she just says, ach! later.
Shrug emoticon, what can you do with that!!?

LOL at he pencil case trick too!!
Oh my God, I just tried a pencil! I didn't realise I could do it!!
BF so good for her, so not good for my poor boobies
So brave with the stick on bra. I was so gutted to try on bras the other day, only for my boobs to flop down into the cup instead of filling it had to go down 2, 2, cup sizes!!!!

bristols · 22/06/2007 20:51

Ascot was brilliant although it would have been nicer if it wasn't raining half the day.

Can't believe how busy it was on here and how much I missed in one day!

Glad the diet is going well, Munki.

Definitely up for a weekend meet at BW. Cori - If you still fancy meeting next week, we could do that too.

Got to go, DS crying. V unusual, don't know why...

Have a good weekend, all.
