Hello...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Myrtle1 · 15/06/2007 19:48

Bristols, congratulations! Did you win the £6 from your post-natal group on who would be pg first?

fairysnuff · 15/06/2007 21:18

Oh dear, maybe I shouldn't have said that, I don't want you to lose money munki

Am really keen to get preggers but really nervous about being so sick again.
Still BF DD, I don't want that to end before I can move her onto cows milk. I would be so proud to be able to say she never tasted formula.
But as AF has not visited yet, I think I am prob ok not to take any precausions (sp?)

Glad to hear you are getting used to the idea a bit more Bristols. It wil be a great thing.
I have a close friend whos children are exactly the same age difference as your two will be. She also said it was not easy but V rewarding cos they are closer now. They are only 2.5 and 1 ish

fairysnuff · 15/06/2007 22:39

They say I will be able to feed DD whilst pregnant, as long as she is happy with the change in taste.
But if I end up as ill as last time, I will be lucky to sustain myself let alone two others!
I lost a stone and a half before I was hospitalised!

But I really want to believe that I can do both.

I really want my body to be able to settle after taking the pill but don't like CDms but am maybe a little scared of really taking the plunge.
of your happy accident Bristols
That is soooo selfish of me, sorry.
please forgive my honesty.

MunkiBaby · 15/06/2007 23:03

Fairy ~ i've yet to have AF as well. I suspect i just might have one soon...but with the mini-pill, even though i'm weaning ds off boobie (), i probably wont have AF very often. Hell, its ben so long, i've forgotten what i've missed!

and on that note, i'm nearly complete in my boobie weaning process. its very sad but i think he's ready to come off. tonightm i had to pump as i was becoming engorged..i've never seen my milk sooo clear! and greenish in colour! sorry if thats tmi. plus i've noticed its been just suckling, not really drinking...its still sad, but it needed to be done. :::::sigh::::

And may i comment on (hope no one is eating) the poop changes?!?!?!? no one ever told me forumla poo was soooooo rank and vile compared to boobie fed poo!! i can smell him from a long distance now! its frightening.

fairysnuff · 15/06/2007 23:15

Sorry if nosey but why did it have to be done?
I am in no hurry to wean DD and I reckon only a really bad start to 2nd pregnancy will stop me. If I can, and if she wants, I will continue thoughout.
Until she starts sticking her hands up my tops, thats when it has to stop

mrsharrypotter · 15/06/2007 23:34

Congratulations Bristols! There's 16 months between me and my sister and we were the best of friends growing up, we even did twinspeak (although at the time we were the only documened case between non twins)and as we moved a lot it was nice to take my best friend with me. You'll be fine

Marls, sorry about your cat

Grrrr "dh isn't very experienced". Leave them with him a few times and he'll soon catch on [evil grin]

HH, we tell ds it's fine to play with his willy, get it out, but only in the privacy of his bedroom. He's realised that it changes when he plays with it and it's not really something I want him doing in the living room!

bristols · 16/06/2007 10:44

Myrtle - I think that the girl who got my name out of the hat will get the £6. Well remembered!

Fairy - no problem with your honesty. Hopefully it'll happen for you soon.

I only had one period before getting pg again (still seems wierd writing that) so by the time DC2 is born, Feb 2008, I will only have had one period since Nov 2005! And I recently bought a mooncup which I never got to use LOL

Am going to Skype Mum and Dad this morning. Have decided to tell them because I just won't be able to keep it in. I'm worried Mum will think I've been silly or reckless (which maybe I have) but I'm hoping they'll just be excited. I'm quite sure they'll be shocked!

Funny weather here. Raining, then sunny, then raining etc etc.

Using the miserable day to catch up with some housework. DS had become really frightened of the dyson. Proper tears and everything. I also need to go and get DH a present for tomorrow.

fairysnuff · 16/06/2007 12:40

What's a mooncup??
Just trying to think on what it might be, you don't want to know some of the answers that are coming into my head

I know what you mean about telling your parents.
I was worried about telling mine first time round, cos I had put my application in to do a post grad in teaching and they were so proud of me for that, that I thought they would be disappointed cos I was throwing it away with getting pregnant.
But they couldn't have been happier.
I have told my mum that I am planning no2 within the next few months (all going well) so she is prepared for it.
Though, when I first told her, she thought I was planning too far in advance and that I ought to just let things happen.
But I can't help it, I gotta plan!!
It's a compulsion!!

I am sure your parents will be overjoyed but prob worried about the same things you were. But their joy will no doubt be a great as yours in the end.

Oh god I am rambling again!!
You know what I mean though?

bristols · 16/06/2007 12:46

Fairy - I do know what you mean. Mum and Dad were delighted although not as excited as when I told them about my first pg. I suppose that's to be expected. Mum said "It's meant to be" and she's right.

mooncups Don't be too shocked! I am a bit of a tree hugger so I thought I'd give it a go. Lots of MNers use them. That's where I found out about them.

I know exactly how you feel about planning. I am exactly the same. I think that's why this pg is such a shock and that I'm finding it so hard to come to terms with. I wish I was more laid back. You're not a virgo are you, Fairy??

mabel1973 · 16/06/2007 14:55

congratualtions bristols - i didn't expect to read that when i came on here...how exciting

Ds2 has had awful nappies for the last 3 days, his bum is so sore, i don't know what's causing it, he is eating and drinking fine and is happy enough, i thought maybe a teething thing, but he;'s never had nasty nappies before with his teeth. I know if i take him to the doctors they won;t be able to give him anything and as he is still ok in himself they will probably tell me to 'keep an eye on him'....i am worrying though.

mrsharrypotter · 16/06/2007 15:03

Mabel, try the BRAT diet (banana, rice apple and dry toast) to get your lo's nappies back to normal.

Bristols, forgot to say, GET A PHIL AND TEDS! I love mine, it's great, you will love it, It'll become an extension to your arms, you'll never know how you lived without one. I think you may have got the msg now!

kreamkrackers · 16/06/2007 15:27

hello everyone

dd2's now taken over one of dd1's toys this one she loves it

mabel - what nappies are you using? if disposable put a slight layer of metanium and a layer of sudocrem for each nappy change and you should see big improvements. also you probably know to leave the nappy off as much as possible which i think is probably the best way of clearing nappy rash up.

i've switched dd2 to reusables and i love them. now waiting for dd1's to come.

dd1 still can't walk and now dd2 is crawling it looks so funny as dd2 looks like she's in slow motion compared to dd1. been thinking about what it could be like in a years time with them, they'll either be at the same level or dd2 will have over taken dd1 developmentally. it will look strange if i go the local shops and have the bigger child in the buggy and the little one walking at the side. i don't feel down about it, it's just one of those things that we'll have to go through but dd1 will as an adult hopefully be an independant person and i'm grateful for that.

hope everyones having a good weekend.

mrsharrypotter · 16/06/2007 15:41

kk, which nappies did you get in the end? I love mine too, the best thing I've ever brought. My ds has something like that toy and dd loves it.

tassis · 16/06/2007 15:55

just caught up with this...a huge congratulations to bristols!! Lovley news, hope your parents were exicted for you and you're beginning to come to terms with it all. We need all the details so no abandoning us for Feb 2008 girlies!!

...on the pushchair front, how do you find the loola? i keep seeing them and think they look perfect (would like a rear facing stroller) but they've got not great reviews here on MN...

Munki - hope the weaning is going OK

mabel - we've had grim nappies the past few days too, I'm thinking there's a top tooth on the way...

kk - well done for switching to cloth!

tassis · 16/06/2007 15:59

ooh bristols...just seen a wanted thread - someone's after a loola if you were thinking of selling...

kreamkrackers · 16/06/2007 16:40

i got these for dd1 but i'm now a bit worried as there's a thread about them leaking. i've oredered some wool wraps from flame but will be using dd2's at first.

dd2 has poppered bambineos in pink and cream (from flame) and some motherease airflow wraps and some wraps from here . also got some wipes from there. i'm tempted to buy again even though i don't need any, it's hard staying away as they're so cheap and so so lovely.

bristols · 16/06/2007 19:40

My parents were pleased but shocked!

I like the Loola although it is quite heavy to get in and out of the boot. On the plus side, it does do rear facing (unlike the P&T's ) and folds in one piece (unlike the bugaboo)

Am going to hunt out that wanted thread. Thanks, Tassis. It definitely has to go!

My LO has had a couple of episodes of a really sore bottom with broken skin. I used Bepanthen on it and it cleared up in no time. We use totsbots for him.

mabel1973 · 16/06/2007 19:55

Thanks for the advice, i have been giving him a fairly bland diet for the past 2 days, he must have done at least 7 nasty poo's today although the last one although not exactly solid was less stinky (sorry if TMI), I usually use cloth nappies (tots bots) but the way he's been in the last few days i am afraid i couldn't face washing them and resorted to disposables, i am slapping on the sudocrem though...poor love, i hope he is better tommmrow

one word on the p&t's double, my neighbour just sold hers as she found it fine when her DS2 was tiny, but once he got bigger he kept dragging his hands on the back wheel when he sat in the back seat, and also a pain that she couldn't recline them..which i guess is only necessary if your DC's sleep in the pushchair, she has traded it in for the out n about double, which is the one i've got...and have been v happy with. I am sure there are plenty of P&T's fans who will tell me I'm completely wrong

Coriander73 · 16/06/2007 20:24

bristols...what on earth on you on with those mooncups???!!!!!!! ...I'm glad you are pg so you don't have to use them....they're hilarious...

mabel, maybe he's just had a bad reaction to something he's eaten? Too much citrus maybe? BRAT diet is good though...worked a treat for J last week

I'm going to collaspe on the sofa...had two glasses of wine & feeling very sorry for myself as DH has been in bed for two days with a "headache" & for feeling very tired ....I'm F*CKING knackered......not that that means anything to him.....as I just have to soldier on...as us mothers tend to do......grrrrrrrrrrr

OP posts:
mrsharrypotter · 16/06/2007 21:16

KK, I really like the swaddlebees, they look cute on top of everything else.

Bristols, you've made me broody best not to tell dh

Cori, Poor dh life's so hard for men. I've been doing all the overtime I can get yet dh still does nothing around the house, even if he is on a day off and I'm working till midnight. I end up steralising at 1am and then I'm up with the dc's at 6am. Men! (rant over)

Mabel BRAT worked for Elizabeth when she had a tummy bug last week.

MunkiBaby · 16/06/2007 22:39

fairy ~ i've been a bit hesitant to reply about the weaning TBH... i think i'm afraid of being judged or seen as selfish for not devoting the boobie 200% to ds.

well. the truth is, i'm incredibly unhappy with my weight and have alot to lose. no, not just baby belly etc. so without going into the psychology and depressing bits, long story short: i've never been more desperate so once ds has comfortably moved on to Hipp follow up, i will be starting a very structured, very low calorie diet and it will probably make me 'dry up' anyways.

One might think that i'm taking him off too soon and could be missing out on this time with him. But i have to see it as becoming a healthier person so that I can be around for my ds (and future children ) for a long long time.

i'm sad about stopping, but i'm very pleased at how ds still likes to touch my face and have cuddles when i give him a little bottle.

MunkiBaby · 16/06/2007 22:46

forgot to add: if my health wasn't an issue, i'd probably bf for at least 12-13 months, without a doubt.

kreamkrackers · 16/06/2007 22:48

munki - it's not selfish at all, you do what's best for all of you. he's had the best start in life.

i was telling people how i've now got dd2 to drink from a bottle. they all assume i'm going to fully stop. i didn't answer back as every single one of them went on about how horrible it is when older babies bf, she's still a baby to me

it makes me think is it time for me to stop? because she was early it was so so hard to get her to bf and because of dd1's health problems she was never able to bf (even though she had a little go at the beginning and i expressed for about 10 weeks) so i don't want to give it up. but if i change my mind in a few months time it could be more upsetting for her.

i don't know what to do.

how long does everyone else plan to bf for?

MunkiBaby · 16/06/2007 22:54

oops! while i was taking soo much time thinking about the best way to word my last post, DH cheesecake was slowly spilling over and burning/smoking the bottom of the oven! !!! couldve been disasterous. ((i've put together a baked NYstyle cheesecake for Fathers Day...)) well, that is...if it isnt burned or totally on fire by the time the timer is up! hehehe

kreamkrackers · 17/06/2007 10:05

yummy cheesecake

ok, today i get up and dd2 doesn't seem to be feeding as well as usual, she even bit me

now i'm worrying i've done the wrong thing in giving her some bottles as my milk supply seems to have gone right down my boobs feel completely empty. now i'm not sure whether to switch back to full bf or just give in and give her full formula.

she was feeding 4-5 times a day before this, now with only twice a day maybe it's not going to be possible for me to do
