Morning all - new thread as the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts limit.

Not so great this morning - feel like an egg-bound chicken IYSWIM. Grrr - especially as I managed to avoid it all the way through pregnancy. And not sure if there's anything I can take for it while I'm feeding?

Can't remember who said what and I'm typing onehanded but

DD has a dry cough and keeps being sick. She's also got a really bunged up/ runny nose, so it seems to be "normal" at this age?

I've just heard today that DS2's DLA is to be renewed at the same rate until 2011 (hooray!). They sent me the form in November and I put it away to do on Maternity Leave. As it turned out with the drama of the breech I didn't get time to do it so was faced with trying to do it with the baby. The form is ghastly and takes hours to fill in. I was trying to do it whenever she slept but the strain of having it not done was immense. I'd photocopied the last one but we had a tidy up a few months ago and I put it somewhere safe. Heaven knows where! This time I've put the copy straight in the filing cabinet!

We did the mile for maude in Folkestone. The organiser was lovely but none of the other mums were at all friendly, so I hope they weren't mnetters. Luckily I'd taken the DSs and made DH join us- I'd hate to have been alone with the baby and nobody speak to me.

kiwibella · 16/05/2007 13:57

ditto... off to find that mail list Foxy . Glad you found a bargain or two Blonde .

I'm not sure what a DLA is Evenhope but I'm glad it is good news.

I don't only want to lose a bit of weight - I would like to be healthier! My diet is crap and I don't exercise. The school run would be an ideal start however we are usually running so late that the girls get thrown in to the car.

foxcub · 16/05/2007 14:12

Evenhope - well done doing Mile for Maude

I throw the kids in the car each morning too, but "power walk" to the afternoon pick up. Its about a mile and a quarter uphill so 2.5 miles return journey. I often do it twice a day (as DD finishes at lunchtime). But not eating bread has made a massive difference - I still do carbs but the bread was really making me bloat out. I eat ryvitas and oatcakes instead now.

Kiwi www.Jojomamanbebe has brilliant seconds sales too in various venues. I have got some lovely clothes form them in the past at their seconds sales. I once drove from my sister's in Wiltshire to the Jojo sale - in south Wales!! I didn't realise you had to pay to cross the toll bridge, but when I told them I'd come over from England specially they gave me an extra discount and refunded the £5 toll as well!!

NCT sales are brilliant too as most NCT members are very middle class and buy nice expensive clothes for their kids, which I like to buy off them second hand for next to nothing

CallieNewMum · 16/05/2007 14:47

Fox, I went to the JoJo factory outlet when I was pg to get some bargains and got a speeding ticket from a very dodgily placed roadworks camera! I must go back and see what bargains I can pick up for LO - it was all maternity clothes the last time. I lived in the skirt I found there .

Jay, you poor love. My heart really goes out to you. It sounds like Jensen is a very hungry baby. If I was feeding Jordi myself, I think I would be in the same boat, as until just a few weeks ago all he did was cry when he was awake either for food or having wind after it, and that was on formula. It was very wearing and depressing. It sounds like he's not getting all your milk - maybe a bf counsellor could help? Or if you could stand it, express after you feed him and give him the rest in a bottle? So sorry it's so tough, and that your other little one is poorly too. big hugs.

Can we still call you Rosy, Shrinkinglily???

Hello NewMum24 . My DS should have been 10 weeks tomorrow but is actually 18 cos he was premature.

I'm to admit this, but I'n not sure what the mile for Maude is. It is something to do with cancer?

kittyhas6 · 16/05/2007 14:48

Hello all [
Evenhope I believe that piffle is also having to fill out a DLA form. It sounds like a nightmare. I'm glad you've found a way to make it less so.

Shrinking and Foxy I need to join you on the needing to lose weight front. I have a yucky ring of solid fat round my middle and I've still got a fat back . I too love butter and cheese and bread and crisps .
I thought I should get the double bug out, put both babies in and push it over the downs. Have been meaning to do that for a while though.
I don't know how much I weigh, haven't had any scales in the house for ages. I think it would depress me too much. My clothes tell me I've a way to go, as do my enormous love handles!!

Well done on doing the walk. Was it good fun?

Jay, so sorry you're still having a bad time. Ronnie is much calmer in the mornings but still feeds hourly during the day and 2 hourly at night. I have no idea at what times he wakes up though I just work out how many times I've changed boob!

Diva are the new tablets helping at all?

DollyPopsOut · 16/05/2007 15:00

Good to see you Kitty . I know what you mean about fat back - i hate the extra roll under the back of my bra. I'll start a thread in a minute for the fatfighters amongst us.

Callie - Maude was the daughter of a MNetter who died from cot death in Jan, I think. She was 2 and the walk was in her memory to raise funds for the FSID. Writing about it makes me feel ashamed that I didn't get myslef together to do it.

Would any of the London/SE based crew fancy meeting up at some stage? THere are quite a few of us in the same general area and it might be nice to hook up and have a cuddle with the babies. Just a thought - I am SE london (Dulwich) but can get to anyone in the centre or out towards Clapham, Battersea, Richmond etc etc.

foxcub · 16/05/2007 15:01

Callie - you were in a hurry to get to the sale then?

Hi Kitty - yes we must get round to starting a slimming thread (hopes someone else will do it)

foxcub · 16/05/2007 15:04

Dolly = x posts

I was thinking that yesterday - about a meet up I mean (getting of those northern girls)

How about a picnic at our house at half term or is that a bit too early for people to travel with young babies etc?

As long as its sunny we can sit in the garden and if its rainy we can picnic on the living room floor

Anyone else interested in joining Dolly and I?

kittyhas6 · 16/05/2007 15:21

I'd love to, don't know how feasible it would be though. Dolly, I was born and brought up in Dulwich.

Foxy, does cutting out bread make such a difference?. I'm addicted to the stuff but I bet it's really loaded with cals, especially with the amount of butter I trowel on!

Piffle · 16/05/2007 16:21

even hope thank you I had forgotten I had phtocopied dd's application 2 yrs ago
much of it is still exactly the same...
Thanks god that will make it easier

divastrop · 16/05/2007 16:52

i wonder if i could lose weight just by giving up breadi eat loads of the stuff as well, especially when im waiting for Elsies bottle to warm up at 4am

kitty-i feel better than i did a few days ago,but i dont know if its the tablets or if my hormones were all over the place.i think im going to get af soon so it could have been a bad bout of PMT.i will have to wait and see.

how are you feeling now?

wheres mossy today?i hope she and bertie are alright.

DollyPopsOut · 16/05/2007 17:04

Ok girls - weightloss thread here step away from the cake

foxcub · 16/05/2007 17:42

Bread discussions on new fatty's thread please

sazzybee · 16/05/2007 18:35

Hello everyone

jaysecond - sorry you're having a mare Don't know what to say to make you feel better except that it will pass. That's what I keep telling myself anyway when I feel like shoving Elliot in a drawer and getting in the car. But please don't stop coming here - I hope it helps you to talk about it.

E's not too bad on the feeding front - goes 2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 at night. He's been on my boob almost continually for the last 4 hours so has been getting really cross as surprise surprise, they're a bit empty now. And now he's gone to sleep after being awake all afternoon so I just know he'll yell all through The Apprentice

I saw a friend I fell out with about 18 months ago today but she didn't see me. She sent me a card after I'd had the baby saying she'd love to meet up and I've been debating whether to get in touch. Do you think it's a sign? Or is that utterly ridiculous?

I'd be well up for the fatties thread - when I suck my tummy in, nothing happens anymore. It's awful. And I caught sight of myself in a shop window and was truly shocked. So I'll see you over there.

And I'd be up for meeting up with fellow southerners

muppethasakitten · 16/05/2007 19:09

oooohhh yes Sazzy... the apprentice! Who do you want to win? Katy? She's hilarious!

kittyhas6 · 16/05/2007 19:24

She looks like a spitting image puppet of a horse. I like Christina best.

sazzybee · 16/05/2007 19:52

Katy is scary! It's a toss up between her and Tre who provides the most amusement

CallieNewMum · 16/05/2007 20:01

On the body front - is anyone still doing their pelvic floors? I sometimes remember when I go to bed.

foxcub · 16/05/2007 20:10

Callie - I have always been rubbish at remembering to do them and hence have a bladder like a sieve

Can anyone vouch that the actually work - were I to do them like?

divastrop · 16/05/2007 20:29

fox/callie-ive been doing my PF excersises religiously since i was pregnant with ds2.i cant say they've had too much effect on the leakage front(but i suppose 5 vaginal births are going to take their toll on anyones 'bits')but i do find...erm...well,i can feel more iyswim

better go to the fat thread.

foxcub · 16/05/2007 20:31

Diva - you're making me very

I've been married for 16 years! LOL

divastrop · 16/05/2007 20:46

well im that you are married!

we cant afford it

Shrinkinglily · 16/05/2007 21:24

Callie yep call me Rosy and/or I like Shrinky Rosy is my real name so I got bored of being so straight!

Evenhope what a shame the women weren't friendly on the mile for Maude, there was only 5 of us on ours so we had to get to know each other which was great. I hardly ever meet new people these days.

Would love to come for a picnic in Foxys living room, oh well, maybe one day I'll pop over!

My hv said I didn't need to do pelvic floor excercises when i told her I had jumped on a trampoline 2 weeks after birth with no 'side effects'
All the same I'm sure I should do them, but it's so boring and annoying so I usually do one or two when anyone mentions them....zzzzzzz

spongecake · 16/05/2007 22:12

hi all

rosy, lol at your trampoline story.

have joined the weight loss thread, and feel very down about my weight when i think about it- ie when i catch sight of the fat bird in shop windows will have to change my chat name as its got cake in it

baby is really down today as he had his jabs.he has screamed in agony most of the day and i have given him grpe water and calpol and he could have been creaming about his wind as well.. am now terrified have poisoned him and he will get kidney failure. love dp but wish he was here more and didn;t work so hard

know keep hopping on and off mn but its so nice to be able to and no one minds??

TheBlonde · 16/05/2007 22:30

Hi all
Had a bit of a better day today and managed to have a mid afternoon nap

I would be up for a London meetup

Still doing the pelvic floors here though not daily, just when I remember
Fox - if they don't seem to help then you may not be doing them right! I wasn't
