I use dr Browns and my friend came over with her baby who was around 6-8 months , she had forgotten a bottle and used one of mine without the vent and she said the milk gushed all over her lo?!
I don't get how though because surely it's like a normal bottle without the vent ? I guess that doesn't help much haha but that's the reason I haven't stopped using the vents .
Where do you get grows from ? A couple of my tk maxx ones have shrunk , I rate next ones they haven't shrunk . I've got mamas and papas and Asda ones in 6-9 so will see how they go . Smile

MotherofA · 07/09/2017 22:21

I've seen some amazing outfits in Sainsbury's for DD oh and sleeping bags which I want to get . Really don't need anymore clothes but they are so cute I can't help it .

Abacha · 07/09/2017 22:28

About to start dressing the twins in 6-9. I must have been in a fog when they were born because I thought I didnt have vests and gros and was just about to buy some, only to find 23 vests and 16 gros that they got as presents.

I'm stopped a lot when I'm out with the twins and I genuinely do not mind at all, when we go out for a walk, they are normally dressed in vest and babygro, well today, a woman stopped me and asked how old they were, I told her, she smiled, looked at them some more and said that they are now old enough for outfits and that baby gros should be for sleeping at night. I had no idea what to say to her, so I just mumbled something and left.

MotherofA · 07/09/2017 22:35

WTF Abacha !! You should have said "be at mine at 8 am sharp, you can wash , dress and feed them both at the same time with no assistance " Grin . You know when it comes to babies and pregnancy no one holds back with their judgments do they ?!

Great you found all those sleepsuits etc ! Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/09/2017 22:43

Twins /two it's diffeeent and harder

Must admit I've always changed dd from. Any gro into clothes after breakie and then Obv clean babygro after tea /bath but I wanted her to get to know Day and night iyswim

Most clothes George Asda. They are well priced. Wash and wear well

coupester · 07/09/2017 22:45

I love M&Co clothes, they are so soft and don't seem to shrink. I think some of the Asda stuff may have shrunk a little but it's so cheap and they have so much choice! Not as keen on Matalan.

Abacha you can dress your twins in whatever you like! Everyone has an opinion don't they?! I find it so difficult to work out what to dress DS in at the moment because the weather can't seem to make up its mind!

MotherofA · 07/09/2017 22:55

It must be so hard with two I don't know how you do it.

I feel the same coupester, don't know what to put on myself most days never mind on baby ! To coat or not to coat ? Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/09/2017 23:45

Layer

So trousers /skirt then short sleeved top and cardi /jumper if chilly. Then can take off easily

Dd doesn't fit into coats easily as has chubby arms and they don't fit :(

Have huge cardi and might be getting puffa jacket when winter

PLus has a lovely wrap blanket which goes round her in the car once buckled in so doesn't get chilly

MotherofA · 07/09/2017 23:54

That's what I tend to do blondes , I do have a light weight jacket for when it's super breezy too . Thinking it's time for summer clothes to be bagged up . 😢

Carolann8584 · 08/09/2017 00:12

Well that was a first. I came up with the feed and Nurofen at 8:40. Head killing me. I thought I give it til 9 to see if she wakes again then check her temp and give feed etc. Just woke up! Head still sire behind my right eye but we both slept through her feed! Which I've had to chuck away as made it 3 and a half hours ago!

Thanks for the advice ladies

Oh she's in 3-6 but I go off the weight. She only start in the next size up when she was 4.5 months and then it was the length which made me take her up a size

Carolann8584 · 08/09/2017 00:38

No temp. The beep woke her, she only had half the feed. All smiles as my OH started making funny faces and voices had to remind him no talking or playing!!

MotherofA · 08/09/2017 00:46

Glad she's ok bless you both Smile

troodiedoo · 08/09/2017 06:43

Blimey Abacha what a cheeky thing to say! Dress them in whatever you like.sleep suits are the most comfortable. And easy to change nappies

Dd is in 6-9 which is a bit loose but 3-6 too short and a bit snug. Mostly the t shirt and leggings sets from asda which I've found to be the best fit. Annoyingly bought a load of long sleeve t-shirts from gap recently in preparation for autumn size 6-12 and the arms are really tight.

Lol naughty dh carol!

Hugh sorry I'm going to pick your brains. When you use a pram suit, do you also have a closet toes on pram? Also what do they tend to wear under the suit ?
We just bought our cosey toes and it's so think I feel like she will sweat in there lol.

I can't believe someone said that to you , what's wrong with people !

purpleviolet1 · 08/09/2017 08:15

@MotherofA - I've read that it can gush out with the blue vents because those bottles have always to be used with the vent. The options bottles with the green vent can be removed as they 'grow with your baby' whatever that means ha. I've just given ds his first feed today without the vent and it didn't leak will report back if he starts getting trapped wind!

TBH ds only has 3 baby gro's just now - he hardly wears them, only if we are out at bedtime. They are from
Mother care but think they will be too snug length wise very soon. At night he is in a long sleeved vest and sleeping bag. During the day I choose easy outfits as I find getting him dressed a faff and also want him to be comfortable.

Girls clothes are so cute so I don't blame you!

@Abacha so bloody rude!!! None of anyone's business how you choose to dress your LO's. Wish people kept their opinions to themselves.

@Carolann8584 glad she's ok. Hope you feel better too.

@HughLauriesStubble what a weirdo.

Can you guys tell I've just discovered the @ lol ! Grin the things that brighten up my day these days...

DS is still having multiple wakeups during the night but is self settling. He is so wriggly and noisy as he sleeps that I'm still getting up and watching him until he nods off again. I can't relax. I guess babies like adults toss and turn so to speak but I feel like he should be sleeping flat out?! What are your LO's like?

Had a bad night with DD woke every hour from 3 then was awake for about half an hour each hour. She still doesn't have a temperature. Offered her a feed at 8 she had her usual 3oz. Gonna start introducing some porridge in the mornings I think.

She seems a little quiet today she's usually very chatty but the way her throat sounds I'm not surprised. Still smiling and very active

NameChange30 · 08/09/2017 09:07

Just catching up!

purple
Thank you, wasn't sure where to start with weaning but I was encouraged by everyone on here!
I agree with Mother that you've done brilliantly to manage your DS' allergies and sleep train as well!
Btw, I've read that it's totally normal for babies to stir, wriggle and generally be a bit noisy at night.

Hugh
Thanks for the suggestion but I think I'd prefer to work on independent settling before putting him in his own room, otherwise I'm just going to be getting up and going into his room all through the night Sad But I would like to start putting him in there for naps to see how we get on.

Mother
I love that your DD wanted more olives! Very sophisticated taste she has! Grin
As DS is enormous he's been wearing 6-9 month clothes for a while. We have a few 6-12 month things and I've just bought some 9-12 as well. I find it a bit sad how fast he grows out of things Sad
I try and put him in an "outfit" (just t-shirt and joggers) but will happily just put him in a babygro when I can't be arsed (which is often, lately!) My favourite ones are footless (as he doesn't grow out of them so fast) with a zip (easier than poppers!)

Was it Hugh who mentioned poo-stained clothes... if you hang them outside on a sunny day, the sun bleaches the stains out. It's really effective.

Carol
Sorry your DD is poorly and had a bad night, hope she improves soon.

So DH made a plan before we went to bed last night. I thought DS has probably been feeding at night for comfort not hunger. So we decided to try and cut down the feedings and DH would try rocking him instead. The plan was to do "shifts" so at certain times I would feed (so he wouldn't go from feeding all night to nothing at all) and at other times DH would rock him. Well it was a nice plan in theory!! Worst night yet. DS woke up 7 times 😱 When DH tried to settle him (by rocking, cuddling etc) he was screaming on and off for about 20 minutes and wouldn't go back to sleep. I've come to the conclusion that maybe he is hungry because he was properly feeding (not just comfort sucking) for 7+ minutes each time. I wonder if he's going through a growth spurt? I don't know why he has to feed at night though and can't feed more in the day! We will persevere with the weaning.

Those of you who have started weaning, which foods do your DCs seem to like the most (especially to begin with)? Apart from olives Mother Grin

NameChange30 · 08/09/2017 09:08

Correction: DH and I made a plan (I'm not the sort to let him make a plan without me Grin)

Thanks, it did actually upset me more than I let on. Its easier for me at the moment to keep them in gros, we have the boring unisex ones for night times and nicer ones for day time, so . When they wake up at 7.00, I top and tail them, change their outfits before their 1st feed of the day and in the evening they are changed before bedtime. I have bought a few leggings and long sleeve shirt for dd from next sale and some joggers for ds.

I wish people would keep their opinions to themselves. I don't think I've mentioned it before but dt are my rainbow babies. My 1st son passed away in 2015, I was breastfeeding him when he was 2hrs old in recovery room after c section and he stopped breathing, he passed away 5 days later and after inquest and autopsy it was classed as sids. I blamed myself a lot as I think my breast squashed him (another reason why I'm comfortable with exclusively pumping for the twins) I got counselling and I thought I was managing ok, but as of late I've started second guessing myself, and so throwaway comments like these affect me more than it probably should.

On a lighter note, we're going this weekend to buy ikea high chairs, someone mentioned doidy cups on the other thread, do you recommend them? Im going to puree for a couple of weeks before offering them finger food. What spoons are others using?

coupester · 08/09/2017 09:41

Urgh, just burnt my toast - I'm really not doing well at the cooking side of things!

Didn't want anyone to know so I ate the evidence 😆

Name and Carol, I'm so sorry you both had bad nights. Hopefully weaning will help Name, I know that going from bf to formula made a huge difference to DSs feeding pattern, so hopefully the weaning will have a similar effect for you. Carol I hope your lo feels better soon and gets her voice back!
