My night wasn't great but DS slept through it all!

Found a massive splinter in my foot so had to remove that then got woken at 2am by the sound of one of the dogs weeing in the lounge! We then discovered one of our smoke alarms was beeping intermittently which was possibly the cause of the wee as the noise had stressed both the dogs.

I couldn't get back to sleep for a long time so I'm tired this morning and DS doesn't want his nap Sad

Sounds like your night was worse though, purple. I hope DS managed to settle in the end and I hope you both got some rest.

I'm glad your night was better, carol.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/09/2017 10:25

@carol our clinic is the same tho am 930/11. I get there 915 to be first one and out usually by 935 😂 and then her for dd for an hour

@purple sorry to hear ds unsettled and sick

@hugh glad X-ray showed good results. Dd can roll back to front. Doesn't do it a lot. Doesn't really like tummy time. Too nosey. Has never rolled front to back

@100yrs. They can have up to 20. 10 am and pm. The gastro expert I spoke to in London. said they prefer to start off with high dose and if improves to cut down slowly

Rather then low dose and keep raising slowly all the time while baby unhappy

Cute pic @carol

Having nice time. Dd doesn't seem bothered by heat and still in same routine tho is waking slightly earlier and bedtime varies

Either falls asleep in buggy at 7 while we eat and then wakes 830 and awake smiling having cuddles in the pub then sleeps when back at appartment

Or awake and has carrot /bread while we eat and she crashes 830 and in buggy asleep

And just transfer her when home

But still likes 9/10 and sleeps either in travel cot or buggy and we have breakie then go for walks - round pool - in car etc

Loves being outside in the shade - not so keen in the pool. Tad chilly

Thank you so much purple! I'm going to book an appointment for her! X

Carolann8584 · 21/09/2017 14:00

Cute pick blondes

Just had another battle putting DD down for her nap she seems to be getting more and more distressed each time. Not sure if it's teething or being in her room alone. I've had to put a muslin square over the side of the cot so she can't see out coz she just stares at the door

Carolann8584 · 21/09/2017 14:01

Pic auto correct

100yearsdotcom · 21/09/2017 14:06

Thanks name and blondes! Definitely going to push the higher dose then.

Such cute squishes! March I'd obviously the month for gorgeous babies! Wink

DD is between sizes too - her Buddha belly is in 6-9 but her legs are 3-6 still so leggings etc are really oversized on her!

purpleviolet1 · 21/09/2017 14:17

Wasn't too bad a night overall, he settled and slept till 7am. Think I'll do that - offer feed if he not settled by 30 mins. Don't think he actually hungry but just needs it to settle him iykwim. Poor soul feel bad he had all the allergy/ milk issues and now teething. All fairly normal though I guess. We had a good third and fourth month but the rest of time he been having either restless nights or needing a feed during the night. He's such a happy baby when he's ok, went out to the shops and he was loving all the attention. So many giggles! Make it all worthwhile...

Ah love the pics of the beautiful babies Grin
Aren't we all so lucky ?

Have to admit, I'm finding things a lot easier now DD is a bit older and eating food plus I know her cries etc . Still not the most chilled person but a lot better .

I am going to get my hair done tomorrow, my sister is babysitting. I always get anxious leaving her but kind of enjoy the space and these roots are not a good look !

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend ?

I dress DD in tights and dresses or loose trousers and long sleeved tops then a coat when we go out .

coupester · 22/09/2017 09:55

@MotherofA I hope you have a nice time at the hairdressers.

I'm off to my sisters today until Tuesday. DS is coming with me, as is my mum, DH is staying at home with the dogs. I wrote a list of what I need to pack for DS, it's ridiculous! Good job I have an estate car Confused

MotherofA · 22/09/2017 11:41

Haha ! Thanks coupester . I hope you have a lovely time too . Travelling with a baby is ridiculous!

purpleviolet1 · 22/09/2017 12:50

Ooo lovely! Enjoy both of you Smile

I've not had my haircut since ds has been born Shock

No plans really just a few things around the house and shopping. Hopefully get a chance to put my feet up at some point!

DS still refusing solids. Been about 4-5 days. Had a fever on and off. Milk intake is a bit lower as well. He's in a fairly good mood though.

Finally ordered a footmuff for our stroller. Has anybody attached theirs yet? Does it go over the hand/cross bar or under it. I don't know the proper name for it. The bar that goes in front of DD. We have a Hauck Shopper DLC

NameChange30 · 22/09/2017 20:33

coupester
Thanks for the weaning mess tips! I have bought a wipe clean tablecloth and just need to get some tablecloth clips to keep it firmly secured so DS can't drag it off the table! Like you we have got a bib with sleeves plus a silicone one with a pocket to catch everything he drops. Just need a mat or something to go under the high chair now.

Blondes
What a cute picture! There is something so adorable about chubby babies in sunglasses Grin

Mother
How was your haircut? Hope you enjoyed it and are happy with the new cut. I made the mistake of taking DS once which was an error! Much more relaxing without him!

Carol
I think it's called a bumper bar... our pushchair doesn't have one though (which is a bit annoying as I'd like one to attach toys to). Haven't started using the footmuff yet as it doesn't seem quite cold enough. I just put a hoody on him and a little blanket over his legs. It will probably be footmuff weather soon though Sad

Two updates from me...

Weaning: still not much success with vegetables (solid or puréed) but DS seems to enjoy Ella's melty puffs! I also managed to persuade him to eat some spoonfuls of baby rice with banana... and then someone told me rice has arsenic in it?!! Confused

Sleep training: we're on night 5 of leaving DS to fall asleep in his crib at bedtime. Seems to be going reasonably ok so far (touch wood), a bit of crying tonight but managed to soothe him pretty easily. I am still feeding him when he wakes through the night but have started trying to cut down by unlatching him early. Also DH did once of the wakings last night and managed to rock him to sleep (after lots of crying... DS not DH Grin) without me having to feed him. It's hard work but I feel we are making a tiny bit of progress. Here's hoping it will pay off and we will be getting more sleep soon!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2017 22:35

@coup. Travelling with a baby is a nightmare. Car is def better then plane and 20kg

@purple. Poor ds. If temp and feeding doesn't improve maybe pop and see gp

@mother. I looked so scraggy I had to have hair cut maybe 8w after giving birth. Tho had roots and toes done just before so I looked semi ok

@name well done on sleep training. Things are def heading in right direction

And yes avoid rice. Also it tastes rank and can understand why babies hate it

Sweet veg like carrot parsnip peas bns sweet potato all good to start weaning

And thanks about dd. She is melting everyone's heart in tenerife. She's such a happy smiley baby and when someone smiles
Or talks to her she smiles back even more

The locals gibber away to her and stroke her legs and cheeks. Assume saying she is a chubster

MotherofA · 23/09/2017 08:37

Hey all . Thanks for asking how my hair went . I took DD once when she was 8 weeks too and that was awful . It went really well I had a cut and colour . I recently found a new hairdresser and he's really good at what he does so I'm happy with my hair for the first time in ages !

Name that's really great about the sleep training ! You must be so relieved .

Carol I have a Bugaboo and on that I had to remove the bar thing to put the Footmuff on . It didn't look right otherwise .
I have had it on for a couple of weeks because we walk to school most mornings and it's very windy sometimes. Never really warm first thing but I unzip and pull it back if she is in it later in the day .

Ah purple bless him . At least he is in a good mood I guess !

People keep saying how big DD is which I find funny because she's petite for her age (despite eating lots)

purpleviolet1 · 23/09/2017 09:42

So happy to hear that there is progress for you namechange! Really great news. Just keep going. Other sleep lady suggested we do the same for settling at night and night wakings. So after you've fed him during the night can you do the same as you do at bedtime? It won't be confusing for him then.

Mother and blondes - thanks. Took ds to GP and she said not to worry, ears and throat look fine. Must just be teething. She said he will take solids when he wants to as he's just off his food with the uncomfortableness. I feel really stressed though that we are going to have to start all over again with the weaning?! He wasn't fully established although we had got up to 3 meals. When I offer him solids he just whacks my hand out the way and turns his head, gets annoyed. Please reassure me?! There's nothing I can do about it anyway... so I just have to accept it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2017 17:30

Give him a few days @purple. Having just milk will be ok. Or offer him chunks of cooked veg and see if will take that

troodiedoo · 23/09/2017 20:54

Hello all Smile

@Purple we are having similar feeding woes, dd took to weaning like a dream but has a cold this week and is refusing all spoons. Think possible teething as well but not sure how you're supposed to know for sure unless you see teeth. So hard not to get frustrated. Keep reminding myself that she's just a baby and therefore acting like a baby. There will be ups and downs!

troodiedoo · 23/09/2017 20:56

Well done on the sleep training @name sounds promising!

NameChange30 · 23/09/2017 21:37

Thanks everyone! Smile It's slow progress but I've chosen to take it slowly and minimise crying so I'm happy with it so far. One thing that I find really weird is how DS can be asleep, or on the verge of falling asleep, in my arms and then as soon as I put him down, he is immediately awake - eyes wide open, smiling, wriggling around. He thrashes about for ages and it seems as if he's never going to fall asleep and then he suddenly goes still and drops off. Babies are weird!

Blondes
"Assume saying she is a chubster" LOL Grin
They are probably saying she is gorgeous!
Thanks for the veg suggestions, we've tried most of those without much success so far but we'll keep trying.

Mother
Glad you're happy with your haircut Smile

purple
Glad your DS isn't ill or anything, although the teething and fussiness is still hard work, at least you don't have anything serious to worry about. Try not to stress about the weaning, if I had to guess I would say you probably won't have to start again from the beginning - it might take him a little while to get back into the swing of things but probably not as long as it took in the beginning.
Thanks for the suggestion regarding night feeds and sleep training... I am inclined to agree and have tried to unlatch DS and put him back in the crib to fall asleep there, but it's tricky in the middle of the night as he falls asleep so easily when feeding and I sometimes fall asleep myself Blush It's also harder for him to fall and stay asleep from about 4am onwards - according to the Baby Sleep Science people that's normal - so I am usually less brave from that point onwards and just do whatever to get him to sleep until 6-7am!!

troodie
I have to remind myself the same thing, babies will be babies, with ups and downs! It is hard to be sure about teething sometimes - in my (limited so far) experience the telltale signs are red cheeks (often just one cheek), gums feel hot when you touch them (I tend to massage them a bit when applying gel), and DS is very fussy when feeding - he seems hungry as he latches on enthusiastically when I offer the breast, but he quickly stops feeding and starts crying. He also chews everything with even more determination and ferocity than usual - but he chews things a lot so that last one is harder to call!

purpleviolet1 · 23/09/2017 21:48

Thanks blondes and troodie!

Troodie remind me, this is your first as well? Not that I want you or anyone else to suffer but it's good to know someone else is going through it as well. I'm quite sure ds is teething as he is gnawing everything and has has a fever. He bites really hard when he gnaws and you can see him getting relief. He's not really had rosy cheeky. Just to be on the safe side the GP checked his ears and throat so no sign of infection.

I think what worries me is that he got used to eating and we were past that stage where he wanted to rub the food on his face etc and make a big massive mess etc as he got the hang of it going into his mouth and swallowing. Hope we don't go back to that very messy stage Blush I find the mess really stressful Blush

purpleviolet1 · 23/09/2017 21:50

Thanks for the comforting words namechange Smile

Agree re the sleep training you are doing really well! Just do whatever to get through. It'll all fall into place very soon.

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 23/09/2017 22:02

Thanks so much, I hope you're right and it does fall into place soon! More sleep would be lovely!

We are definitely still at the messy stage with weaning, it is stressful but I'm feeling a bit better now we've bought a few things to contain it better (a bib with sleeves and a wipe clean tablecloth!) Havign a baby has definitely challenged my neat freak tendencies Confused

purpleviolet1 · 23/09/2017 22:06

Same here!!!!

Had a busy day and got a headache so thought I would get to bed early and it's already 10 Hmm hoping for a quiet day tomorrow...
