Morning all or afternoon just realised the time.

DD had a better night than the last. After she woke a couple of times she slept until about 4 when she thought it was morning! Baby babble and raspberries for her next 2 hours. All the time chewing everything mostly my fingers and nighy vest. I offered a bottle but she didn't want it even after I put some teething gel on her gums.

She went back to sleep at 6 for an hour. She had 2oz of her morning bottle and ate all her porridge. Put her down for her nap at 9ish which started her mini meltdown no amount of teething gel, teething ring, cuddles or Nurofen helped. Normally if she's tired she would put her head on my shoulder as soon as I picked her up but not this time she kept shaking her head and rubbing her cheeks on me. Took her 40 mins to go to sleep. Woke up after an hour and a half a completely different baby. All smiles, no chewing, those little rosey cheeks gone down Grin 11:30 bottle guzzled down followed by peas.

Thanks purple, she's on omeprazole and I've been told she can only have the same in mg (I think) as her weight in kg so she's on 8 at the moment as she's 8.5 kg. I think she could easily do with having 10 though....

100yearsdotcom · 20/09/2017 13:17

Thanks coupester

100yearsdotcom · 20/09/2017 13:24

Thanks blondes I'm going to ask about a higher limit I think.

DD has two bottom front teeth that came through at 5 months and one tip of an incisor that came through in the first few weeks then has just stopped!

purpleviolet1 · 20/09/2017 14:12

Nooo 100 that's not correct!

bnfc.nice.org.uk/drug/omeprazole.html

For Child 1 month–1 year
700 micrograms/kg once daily, increased if necessary to 3 mg/kg once daily (max. per dose 20 mg).

DS is on the max 20mg. If your LO is suffering go back. If you don't want to say you have read it yourself just say you discussed it with the pharmacist.

DD still following the same curve 16lb 14oz Grin

troodiedoo · 20/09/2017 18:14

Evening all. We are also teething Confused it's hard going isn't it.

Carolann8584 · 20/09/2017 19:11

Yep. Battle with DD for bedtime has finished just like this morning's nap no amount of gel, teething ring, cuddles, patting, shh-ing or Nurofen would do. Still asleep by 5 past 7 but was screaming with distressed tones for a while even when cuddling and she's only done that a handful of times in the beginning with trapped wind and then with this morning's nap. We were out when she had her afternoon nap so no problems there.

These past couple of days are worst she's had for teething

Carolann8584 · 20/09/2017 19:57

Good luck tonight ladies

Hmm the dummy fairy has snook in a taken my DDs dummy. She cried for it just now and I couldn't find it anywhere, bare in mind she is alone in the cot in a sleeping bag, checked all round her and underneath the cot. Well did my best in the dark.

purpleviolet1 · 20/09/2017 20:26

Good luck tonight too ladies.

I'm feeling horrendous, throat in agony and aching body. In bed after taking some night nurse and strepsils. Hope I can sleep but I fear my throat is going to be that dry way where you can't breathe properly without irritating it....

Been a rough day. DS missed his 4pm nap.

Forgot to ask - I have been dressing ds in shorts tshirts and those one piece things (short sleeves and short) but now the weather is changing I'm struggling to find comfortable chilling wear. He had jeans to wear with long sleeve tops but I feel they aren't very comfy. Any suggestions?

Carolann8584 · 20/09/2017 20:43

DD spends most days in leggings and a top if its a cold day i might change her to jeans and a long sleeve top or a dress with tights.

Can you get some little joggers and a t-shirt?

NameChange30 · 20/09/2017 20:47

Sounds like a lot of us are having trouble with teething. Hope things improve for everyone soon! We give DS teething granules twice a day, give him a cool teething ring to chew, and apply teething gel when he seems to need it, but when that doesn't calm him down I do resort to ibuprofen. I don't want to give him too much but don't want him to be in pain either, it's sometimes a tough call. He was grumpy this afternoon and evening, and wasn't feeding properly, so I gave him some ibuprofen at bedtime.

Does anyone have tips for containing the mess of weaning?! I need a big non-stick placemat (our high chair doesn't have a tray so it's pushed up to the dining table) and preferably something to put on the floor as well... DS is definitely more interested in playing with the food (whether it's finger food or purée on a spoon) at the moment!

Sorry your DD's suffering with the reflux Sad Sounds like asking the GP to increase her dose could be a good idea - good luck.

coupester
I had to look up Cherbourg Blush Good that you can throw everything in the car and you won't have much driving to do in France!

purple
Sorry you're feeling so ill Sad Hope your DS sleeps well so you can too! Get better soon Flowers
I have been dressing DS in t-shirts (long sleeves now the weather's colder) and jogging bottoms. Vest underneath. And hoody over the top if we go out. A couple of people gave us jeans as presents, and I think he's just about big enough for them or, but they look uncomfortable and difficult to take on and off. So I will probably just use them if and when we see the person who gave them to us Grin

Hugh
No I haven't noticed much difference with feeding now his teeth have cut through, they're only poking out a tiny bit and they're on the bottom so I guess his tongue covers them... no biting or chewing my boob yet, touch wood!
DS is the same with rolling btw, he can roll back to front but not the other way. I think when he's on his back he swings his legs for momentum. But he hasn't worked out how to push up and over when he's on his tummy - he really hates tummy time, and when he cries I usually take pity on him and help him to roll over, which has probably hindered him doing it himself Blush

NameChange30 · 20/09/2017 20:52

I need a big non-stick placemat

Oops. I meant to write non slip placemat. It needs to stick to the table so DS can't yank it off!

Got a silicone bowl and plate thing that are supposed to stick to the table but they don't. I need one of those suction bowls I think!

Now I know why most highchairs come with a tray...

She did start off on her side so it could have worked it's way through the arm hole. Won't know until morning. Or if she needs changing during the night (rarely happens)

She hasn't woken since 🤞

I normally give her DF at 10/11ish and she wakes at 5:20! But doesn't want a feed at that time, last night I dosed off and woke at 1 so gave her her DF then and she woke at 4! Based on her logic of the early feed later wake up I should have df her at 9 lol!!! I know there's no logic

Carolann8584 · 20/09/2017 21:54

DD took a selfie today.... So cute!

troodiedoo · 20/09/2017 21:56

Oh @carol she's adorable 😍

NameChange30 · 20/09/2017 21:56

She is so cute i could eat her Grin

coupester · 20/09/2017 23:42

@NameChange30 DS has mostly had puréed food and baby porridge so far and I've found that he's gotten neater at eating really quickly when it's something he likes! I've got one of those silicone bibs that has the bit at the bottom to catch things (couple of quid from Asda) but I tend to put a big fabric bib underneath as he was still getting in a mess!

I also put something over his legs as it can go everywhere especially when he holds the spoon. We've got a wipe clean table cloth that we could put his high chair on but haven't yet.

I learnt that I need to have baby wipes next to me when we do food so that I can clean up asap and stop sticky hands from going everywhere!

coupester · 20/09/2017 23:47

@purpleviolet1 our house is quite warm so if we're at home then DS still wears a short sleeve bodysuit and joggers. We got given some nice, casual joggers/trousers from Tu at sainsburys. If we go out anywhere I just put a jumper or cardi on but we have tonnes of knitted ones from my mum.

He seems to be quite a warm baby so I'll probably just add a long sleeve t shirt to the current outfit when it gets a bit colder.

purpleviolet1 · 21/09/2017 00:20

Thanks for the advice ladies appreciate it. We do have two pairs of joggers but like you our house is warm and feels like they would be too warm! But obviously can't go out in anything cooler lol. I find he is in between sizes as well right now - not quite 6-9 but 3-6 is too small now.

Had a hysterical wake up, third night in a row that he has woken up hysterical around midnight. Wonder if it's because the nurofen he has been having before bed has worn off by now? Just gave him some more nurofen and applied anbesol and gave him the teethe also and he calmed down once he properly woke up after seeing me if you know what I mean. His gums seemed hot when I applied the anbesol! Hopefully he will settle for the rest of the night.

My throat in agony couldn't sleep so dh kindly popped out to get me a throats spray. Got me a random one from asda which isn't as good as covonia but has helped a little. Covonia is so strong my eyes water when using it but the stuff is brilliant.

Keeps nodding off then intermittently crying Sad

OP posts:
purpleviolet1 · 21/09/2017 01:44

Had another meltdown and cried until 1.15 when he fell asleep and then kept crying intermittently in sleep. Offered him a feed as I thought it might help him to settle enough to get off to sleep properly. Maybe in hindsight I should have offered him a feed after he had been awake for 30 mins? Just laid him down now so hopefully he will sleep....

Carolann8584 · 21/09/2017 09:16

purple hope you managed to get LO settled and some sleep yourself

Found the missing dummy. It was well hidden between the wall and bars of the cot at mattress level so good hiding spot!!

Had a better night with DD she had her df around 10:30 then she woke at 4:25 Had 3oz and went back to sleep at around 5 and woke with us at 7. So all in all not a bad night at all.
