My DD hasn't even had her 16 week jabs! They keep cancelling it.

troodiedoo · 18/09/2017 20:15

6 month vaccine what's that for? At 16 weeks they said the next one was a year?

No idea. Been sent 2 appoinments so far and they've both been cancelled the day before

Carolann8584 · 18/09/2017 22:26

Am braving my first baby group tomorrow. There's one on a Tuesday at 10 am. DD normally wakes from her nap at about 9:30ish and it's just round the corner so perfect 😊

coupester · 18/09/2017 23:16

Me! I don't like parsnips!

DS went for a nap at 4 and was still asleep at 5:30! Didn't mean for him to sleep that long but I was busy getting tea ready etc. He didn't want to wake up and was ever so upset web having food and bottle

@Carolann8584 good luck at your baby group tomorrow! Also hope you work out why DD feels cold, maybe there is a sneaky draught coming from somewhere.

Carolann8584 · 19/09/2017 00:13

Just given DD her df. 5oz as usual. Her room is still 22 degrees she felt fine but I still tucked her in a blanket

purpleviolet1 · 19/09/2017 03:00

Ds been wriggling all night as if he is uncomfortable and woke crying at midnight. Gave him nurofen and he settled but woke hysterical just now too. I've applied anbesol on gums, gave him the teether to bite on, homeopathic granules and generally comforted him. Also gave him the dummy and he enjoyed sucking on that but I don't really want to keep doing that. I hope this is it and the teeth are about to cut through! This is the worst he has ever been with teething.

any other tips most welcome

purple DD was the same, from midnight the longest sleep she had was 3-5. Very uncomfortable most of the night

Carol, is she cold on her chest and back or just on her head and hands (cold not icy)? If it's just her head and hands you don't need to worry as babies' heads and hands/arms cool when sleeping compared to the rest of their bodies - I think this would apply to feet too if not in a sleeping bag/under covers. If they feel warm on their chest and back that is their true temperature. If she was cold she would probably wake crying and 22 degrees sounds plenty warm enough with the layers she's in. Optimal temperature is between 18 and 22 for the room and you need to be more careful of overheating than cold as it's harder for them to wake from heat than it is from cold so she wouldn't necessarily be able to cry and tell you she was too hot. It might help to put your mind ay rest to take her under arm and ear temperature with a thermometer so you can see what's actually going on though as that's what I had to do as I was getting really stressed cos DD is such a hot sweaty baby but has very cool hands and head when sleeping! x

Carolann8584 · 19/09/2017 08:17

Thanks 100 yes it's just her head and arms that are cold. I do worry about overheating as well. I put a blanket on her and her head started to get hot so took it off again. Was only on for about 30 minutes

purpleviolet1 · 19/09/2017 08:56

Thanks Hugh a Muslin would work too? He doesn't seem to like holding anything cold! How do we get around that??

Carol enjoy your baby group, sorry to hear you had a rough night also. I feel like a walking zombie Sad

coupester
Thank you for asking, the holiday was good thanks. DS's nights seem to be improving a bit in that he is sleeping for slightly longer chunks of time and waking up less overall, although we've just had a couple of bad nights due to teething. He now has two bottom teeth that have cut through the gum! My baby!! Shock
Tbh I'm feeling a bit down because we had a much better night on Saturday and I was hoping it might be the beginning of an improvement but no such luck Sad
On the up side I have started the first step in my very gradual sleep training... usually I wait 10 minutes before putting DS down after he's fallen asleep, but I only waited a few minutes, so he woke up when I put him down, but instead of picking him up again I just laid down next to him and put my hand on his chest/tummy. He wasn't crying so it was easy. He thrashed about and clawed my face a bit (!) but fell asleep in less than 10 minutes!! My plan is to do that for a few nights and then gradually put him down earlier until I don't have to rock him at all. 🤞

Btw coupester whereabouts in France are you going? How are you getting there? Happy to share my packing list if it would be helpful (Basically: SO MUCH STUFF!!)

Blondes Glad your holiday is going well so far - enjoy!

purple and Carol Sorry you both had a bad night, hope you can get a bit of rest today. Enjoy the baby group Carol!

NameChange30 · 19/09/2017 09:46

Reread my post and realised it was a bit contradictory... I meant that DS's nighttime sleep has improved very slightly but nowhere near as much as I had hoped based on Saturday. He is still waking every 2-3 hours and sometimes less. I still feel like death warmed up and am desperate for a decent stretch of sleep. But it is a bit better than before when he was waking every 1-2 hours.

Carolann8584 · 19/09/2017 10:03

Well as DD had a bad night I think she's making up for it with her morning nap. She normally has 40 minutes at 9am. Which is just even time for me to shower, Wash night/morning bottles, fill steriliser etc. She's still asleep. Class has started. Its still on until 11:30 so could go a bit later if she wakes. She's not due her next feed until the end of the class so not really in a hurry to wake her

100yearsdotcom · 19/09/2017 10:15

It sounds like your DD is fine carol but I know it's really worrying when you touch their hand in the night and it's cold.

DD is doing well with weaning but since starting her reflux has gone so much worse! It's quite stressful as I don't think her meds can be upped yet Sad

Carolann8584 · 19/09/2017 10:25

Sad 100 sorry to hear DD is suffering. When can her dose be changed?

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2017 10:49

@hugh. Very strange Ireland gets an extra jab. What is it?

@purple sorry ds poorly

@coup parsnips are yummy. !!!!

@carol. Hope baby group goes well and at 22* and a babygro and 1.5/2 grobag baby should be fine

You don't want to over heat

Saying that it's 28* here and air con on and dd in a vest and .5 gro bag

Carolann8584 · 19/09/2017 11:06

Didn't make it to my class Sad DD turned her 40 min nap into a 2 hour one, still snoozing. Will try and fine another one tomorrow

I didn't think it was what she was eating Hugh, we've started her on avocado then Banana then both together, but maybe it is. The thing is it's not when she's actually eating that it's happening, it's all the rest of the time and still milk rather than the food that's coming up.
Thanks carol, I think she has to have gone up to the next kg so shouldn't be too far off but she's really struggling with the pain of it and ends up wrestling cos she wants to be held but is arching and throwing herself about Sad
Seriously considering seeing the doctor and pushing for an early increase in meds.
