Hugh oh no hope you feel better soon Brew

Good plan carol.

Are you only supposed to use puréed food for a short time before moving onto lumpier and more textured food?

I've just come across these and they look great, might order them

Has anyone used Mamia baby food pouches?

Thanks Hugh Smile we'll be doing some finger foods as well

NameChange30 · 13/09/2017 20:54

DS is 6 months and we've been trying purée and finger food, I think we are doing it "wrong" to give both according to official advice Confused but I wasn't sure which to do and I figured we might as well try a bit of both.

troodiedoo · 13/09/2017 21:07

I think once they hit six months you can go for it with pretty much any foods. I have an official start for life booklet from hv and it says you can give purees and finger foods.

I don't think there's anything wrong with taking it slowly. Food before one is just for fun, as I hear many times at baby groups!

Seriously don't sweat it, they'll all be eating chicken dippers when they are 4, regardless of the journey they take.

Mamia do food pouches you say? Smile

NameChange30 · 13/09/2017 21:20

Thanks troodie Smile

purpleviolet1 · 13/09/2017 21:26

Yes troodie! Apparently same quality as Ella's kitchens (organic) but half the price..

Does anyone use talcum powder? I seem to have collected three l..

troodiedoo · 13/09/2017 21:44

I'm planning a trip there tomorrow to see if they've got any knock off jo malone candles. Will check them out.

Yes I've always used baby powder on dd despite it being on a level with giving her crack it seems 😁 gets her folds nice and dry.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/09/2017 22:03

Agree it's good to get babies to self settle from an early age Makes it much easier in the long run

If they wake and you always feed then often why they wake

Many on mn will disagree but generally from 6mths or so babies do not need feeding at night

Key to sleeping at night is enough milk and sleep daytime. Then solids which makes them full

Sorry it rained lots but hope had a nice break

Roll on home and sleep training. Sounds worse the. What it is but as @purple can verify it's a few nights and does get results

M&T - mother and toddler

I go to two. Both at churches. M&T usually seem to be at churches /halls and often run by little old biddies who make cake and tea in exchange for cuddles :)

There's a fab free app called hoop and tells what is on within a 1/5/10 mile radius of where you live

And gives you details for today tomorrow next eeek etc - whatever you put in filter

Well worth a look

Most libraries do free song /ryhmne time

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/09/2017 22:08

Try telling dd food is for fun. If she was only allowed milk she would starve 😂😂

I do purée as imo blw they don't get enough food In and swallowed - but I do often give dd a wedge of cooked carrot parsnip etc and she knaws on that but lots isn't eaten - hence I worry blw doesn't get enjoying

Talc - please don't use. It has dust particles that babies can inhale and cause damage to their lungs

MotherofA · 13/09/2017 22:22

I think both is a good idea really name . I give main meals blended and give her bits of veg / melon to chew on .

Stopped using talc with dd1 when I read how harmful it is to lungs .

Carolann8584 · 13/09/2017 23:01

Thank blondes what a great app. I feel quite bad I've not made any effort to go to any groups.

I take DD to baby splash and I meet up with the other mum's from my pregnancy yoga class our DC were all born within a month of each other but that's it

Need to make more of an effect I think

coupester · 13/09/2017 23:12

Gosh, so much to catch up on!

I looked at the Mamia pouches the other day but they only seemed to have fruity ones and I'd really like to start DS off with veg for a while. I've got a ridiculously sweet tooth and I don't want him to be as bad as me!

We've got a new, bigger Aldi opening tomorrow that's even closer so hopefully they'll have more veg/savoury pouches. I'm quite excited to start weaning but feel I should probably read up on it a bit first I still haven't completely read the leaflet from the HV...

I still feel rough. No idea what's wrong with me really! @HughLauriesStubble I hope you and family all get over the lurgy soon!

@NameChange30 glad you managed to have at least one good day and it sounds like the sleep is improving a little. Good luck with the sleep training when you're back, hopefully it won't take too long and then you'll be able to get a good nights sleep!

Now that we've got the hang of baby carriers DS does tend to fall asleep in them - I took him out in it the other day because he was tired and I knew that if I took him in the pram then he wouldn't sleep! I'm glad this worked for you.

Oh and btw, the present from DS was a book called 'reasons children cry' or something similar. A book full of the weird and wonderful reasons small children will burst into tears! I must've told my mum he wasn't getting me anything though, as she'd wrapped a box of ferreros with a label from DS and helped him hand it to me!

Also DH let DS have a go with the pen when writing the card, so he did actually 'sign' his card to me Smile

coupester · 13/09/2017 23:12

Apologies, that was super long!

Abacha · 13/09/2017 23:34

Hey, just caught up... I gave the twins porridge for the first time today. Ds loved it and was impatient as I was trying to feed dd. It was easier for me to feed with one bowl and spoon and make them take turns. Dd didnt like it as much, well she was not swallowing with every spoonfull so a lot was dribbling down.
Both had a good nap of 3 hours so can't complain. I will start with peas on friday.
Name thanks for the link, I will have a read later

Regarding groups, my childrens centre only has a session on wednesdays and I wanted to do something else, I attended a session of hartbeeps, but the instructor wants me to attend with another adult which is not possible. The twins hardly every cry and if they do I can soothe them quickly, so in groups, I normally have them on the mat and pick them up in turns to do an activity with them but she said the babies will not be getting the full range. Baby sensory in my area is £90 for one baby plus 50% discount so £135 for 10 weeks . I was so close to booking it but it seems a lot of commitment.
I will check out hoop thanks for the tip blonde

Carolann8584 · 13/09/2017 23:50

Hmm DD refused her 11:30 feed. She woke for it cried a little not much, pushed the bottle away so offered her dummy she took it closed her eyes and went back to sleep. Wonder what time she'll wake for it then??? Sad

Abacha · 14/09/2017 00:00

Hopefully she will sleep through

coupester · 14/09/2017 00:07

@Carolann8584 hopefully she will sleep through, fingers crossed for you.

Forgot to mention, DS had a 2hr nap this afternoon after swimming! It's a miracle!

Carolann8584 · 14/09/2017 00:13

abacha thanks. I love giving my DD porridge it's so nice seeing how excited she gets for it as soon as she sees me bringing the bowl over to her in her high chair in the morning her arms and legs are waving all over

coupe thanks. Nice 2 hour nap, did you catch up on some zzzz's as well?

coupester · 14/09/2017 06:52

@Carolann8584 I did curl up on the sofa but then MIL and dh's granny turned up!

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/09/2017 07:11

@carolann. Don't feel bad. Do as much or as little as you want. I go out /see someone /do something every day or else get cabin fever

@coup ditto. Haven't given dd fruit yet as want her to really like veg - which she does

@abacha - only one session? Really ? That's crap 😢 I have two in my town and one few miles away and all have activities daily whether massage sensory music stay and play etc

Def look at hoop. That's where I found my two M&T and nice groups - it was a bit daunting going in solo - but i saw 2 ladies sitting on ground with babies few months older then dd and plonked down by then and said hello

Few months later we all see each other once a week for a play /chat

Plus I've always fed twins from same bowl. Spoon in each mouth so know get roughly half each

@carolann. That's what dd did when stopped df. Refused few nights then we stopped offering and sleeps 7/730 - will go and wake her up soon as need to be out of house 830 for 9am nails

Carolann8584 · 14/09/2017 08:31

coupe 😢

DD woke at 5 and then 5:30 both times I gave her her dummy and she went back to sleep so I got up at 6 to make her feed she woke again at 6:15 so I changed her and she had 3oz. Stated awake to see daddy off to work and is now snoozing again.

If stick to her 4 hour feeds she will have feeds at 10:15, 2:15 and 6:15 with porridge and veg for 2 meals. Or I could do 3 hour feeds instead with the 2 meals.

We were out for the day yesterday so feeding routine was good but naps weren't. We always seem to mess up in the morning.

Yesterday she woke at 7 didn't have feed until 7:30 slept 8:20 til 9 then porridge at 10:30 followed by bottle at MILs at 11:30 so by the time we left MILs DD we really cranky coz she has been awake 3.5 hours.

It's like that every day, think she has her morning nap too early but she's slept from 8:15 every day for months! Just not having more than 45 mins anymore
