B is being much better today so far (since this morning's meltdown). Have agreed to do timer before we go home so we'll see how it goes. Went to clinic with Psychomum today for her DS2's jabs, and the HV actually asked how things were going with DD I'm impressed that she has actually paid enough attention to know who I am (had it been for DS's jabs I would have assumed that she'd just looked at notes before we came ).

Kel - you're sounding brighter. Did I ever say that the sleeping bags were the same size as yours?

Nappy demo next Tues - scared but gotta do it some time...

I really should take mine swimming... I'll look up now actually and see what classes they have for DD.

Spent a small fortune on a pair of sandals and a pair of doodles yesterday The only bright side is that my grandad gives lovely cheques once a year to each grandchild & great grandchild, so he tends to pay for their shoes, swimming lessons etc. I know it could go into savings, but I'm thinking that they need these things now - as nice as a lump sum at 21 would be, I can't afford to send her swimming etc without it

Argh for nappy Macca

mustrunmore · 17/04/2007 14:52

Are you taking ds swimming Flame? I've got an all in one swimsuit that might fit him, although its a 9-12 one. I can measure the length if you like And one of those yellow seat things?

KelBelle · 17/04/2007 15:53

Flame - agree with you that money for now is more important that money for later. If they need shoes and swimming lessons then that the best thing to spend them on.

You didnt tell me the size of the sleeping bags before now, I would be interested in taking them off you if you are wanting to get rid???

Yes I am feeling brighter, things are ok when I dont have to see DH, when I see him it brings it all back again but I am focussing 100% on DS and enjoying my time with him as that takes my mind off everything else.

Flamesparrow · 17/04/2007 17:37

You want sleeping bags the same size as you have?

Got a few swimming things for him MRM, but thank you

Suddenly realised that DH isn't working Friday afternoons anymore, so I will be able to alternate doing activities with children Local swimming pool hasn't updated its course timetable yet.

Focussing on DS is the best plan Kel - youa re doing sooo well

PhoenixGirl · 17/04/2007 19:42

I'm sooooooooo pissed off with work today I took Friday off cos Lewis was ill and got there today to be told I won't be getting paid for it because it wasn't me that was ill I know now to just lie and say its me next time. You try to do things right and they chuck it back in your face. I haaaaaaaate bloody Royal Mail policy (or is that the case with other work places too? Well even if it is i still hate working for Royal Mail)

And the bloody roofer never bothered turning up today so i was in a bad mood before i got to work.

So now i'm home i've opened a can of lager and i've been so good at not drinking over the last week (apart from Saturday)

Soz for the rambling i'll be happy if i post again

2boysmacca · 17/04/2007 20:21

That's pretty harsh pg

My mooncup arrived todday So, how much of the stalk do I need to trim, and any other hints?

Jut spent the last 1.5 hours making invites for my nieces birthday party. I used to be a whizz on powerpoint but it was painstakingly slow

Agree with Flame Kel, you seem to be doing really well. You're bound to have hiccups on the way but just keep staying positive...we all know what happened to Amanda

Flamesparrow · 17/04/2007 20:30

PG

Macca - trim it all off (but stop before you have an expensive funnel!)

2boysmacca · 17/04/2007 20:57

Dh is a total arse! I really do not know why I even bother having a conversation with him sometimes.

ChasingSquirrels · 17/04/2007 21:29

whats he done?

ChasingSquirrels · 17/04/2007 21:31

grr, just had an email from NU 'reminding me' that my car insurance is due in 4 days - wtf - they have not sent me policy details. so am now trying to get quotes but moneysupermarket is not playing ball.

2boysmacca · 17/04/2007 21:35

He's breathing!

Have you tried Budget or Churchill. Both knocked a huge amount off my renewal from Diamond.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/04/2007 21:35

What's up macca?

I trimmed about 2/3 of mine off, but only once I'd got used to using it.

I think that's probably standard in a lot of places pg, and if you look from the business' point of view then you can see why they need to do it, but I agree it's not nice if it's you that's caught by it.

What are doodles?

dd has library card too (after Jelley suggested it a while back), but she won't sit still long enough to read a book, so haven't got any out for a while.

Sounds like a fun trip out Chloe . I'm going to say it as everyone else is being too polite, but those bags are so not going to sell on mumsnet - you need to find a gransnet!

Teething overnight here last night - up for 1.5 hours in the middle of it . One wake with a bit of screaming already tonight, so have a feeling we might be up again, but hoping not.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/04/2007 21:37
Flamesparrow · 17/04/2007 21:44

I always use confused.com

ChasingSquirrels · 17/04/2007 21:48

sheilas wheels more expensive, just trying the otehrs.
I trimmed about 3/4 of mine off, but going to take the rest off as i don't use it, but had to do it striaght away as it just wasnt comfy before i trimmed it.
doodles are little soft canvas shoes (clarks brand). I just got ds2 some doodle fakes (lol) from shoe zone, the don't have widths but they fit him fine and with the soft canvas widths are not so important imo, plus they were £4.99 instead of £12-16.
ds2 has a library card, but have never got him any books as we have heaps of board books from ds1. take ds1 to the library every couple of weeks, we are doing the bookstart bookcrawl - you get a sticker when you get books out and 5 stickers = a certificate. we have just got started on chapter books and the secret seven is really crap when you are 34 - and i was sooooo looking forward to it. got stig of the dump out today

PhoenixGirl · 17/04/2007 22:00

mustrunmore you are wanted on for sale boards

Flamesparrow · 17/04/2007 22:00

DD has a very high instep which makes shoe buying a nightmare, so I tend to have to get them with widths and fitted etc.

She normally has one pair of black shoes ("school shoes" type for party dresses, skirts etc), and a pair of boots at winter, and then the shoes & doodles for summer, but her shoes still had loads of room so I let her have the sandles she was begging for too.

I actually relented and gave her bball boots this winter too - they were adjustable enough for the width not to be too much of an issue. Veeeeeeeeeery tempted with some little red shoes I saw in Asda too, but not sure I can talk myself into it.

PhoenixGirl · 17/04/2007 22:08

Lewis bends and eventually breaks board books so we won't be getting him library books just yet . He occasionally sits still for us to read to him. I lurve The Gruffalo but it's a bit long for Lew to sit still for.

csws - i thought it might be the same for most companies but its just a PITA that i made the mistake of telling the truth and have to lose a days pay

Budget car insurance came up cheapest for me this year. I'd previously been with Tesco who had always been cheapest before.

Flame - yay for B been good

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/04/2007 22:09

Which would be the worst - putting lots of pots of home made and very hot pasta sauce in the fridge, or in the freezer, or leaving out all night to cool before doing either?

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/04/2007 22:10

I'm with Tesco pg - can't be arsed changing, and it always seems reasonable.

PhoenixGirl · 17/04/2007 22:11

Oh and Chloe the walk round Pugneys sounded like a nightmare. Although i think you are slightly mad for not taking a buggy for that long a walk

PhoenixGirl · 17/04/2007 22:14

I was always like that before csws but this year my renewal had gone up and nothing had changed. So i got cheaper quotes and rang them and they said 'we can go a bit lower on the renewal but not as low as your other quotes' so i changed.

ChasingSquirrels · 17/04/2007 22:15

ds1 has a really high instep aswell, and very wide feet - so much so that when we went for shoes last autumn the girl in clarks measured him, looked worried, got some to try (no good), looked in the catalogue and said "I'm sorry we haven't got anything that will fit him" . Well obviously he needs shoes, so I trawled every shop that sold shoes and eventually got him a pair in adams (half price sale ) that were 2 sizes bigger than he was measuring in clarks but which fitted ok.

ChasingSquirrels · 17/04/2007 22:18

RAC is cheapest, seems I get a discount (yeah right!) for having RAC cover, not much in it between them and norwich union though.

Jelley · 18/04/2007 07:01

Morning,

macca - are you ok?

My dds have hugely wide feet and high insteps (couldn't even get doodles to fit when they were small, and alway bought th only pair of shoes in the shop that fitted, rather than chose) but as they are growing have slimmed up a bit I got cheap shoes from tesco this year
DD1 has also had to have a size bigger than she needed to get the widest fitting to fit her. Evry time I complain they tell me there isn't the demand! SOO no true!

Direct Line car ins. Cheap, but wouldn't recommend their customer service.

Moocup - I also cut it right back. If you can feel it you need to cut it back more.

ds wasn't happy last night, but I think it is probably bacause I freaked out at dp last night (He also has the problem that he keeps breathing)
