Afternoon all!

Samsam ? we?ve been in 9-12m vests for about 8 weeks, 6-9m trousers are still long though, and DD just started rolling the week before last (finally).
Congrats on weight loss, I really need to start exercising as mine has ground to a halt

Bendyb ? congratulations!
For breakfast at the moment dd is having oatibix, porridge, toast (with butter, cream cheese or banana on it), fruit, yoghurt. We?ve yet to try eggs.
I?ve given porridge and oatibix with full fat cows milk but am trying to get into the habit of expressing instead. I?m far too lazy!

Gingeme ? I?ve just had two old men in two days ask about my ?son? despite dd being dressed in pink. Annoying isn?t it?
I?ve been giving dd a doidy every day for ythe last two months and she?s really good with it. Still has the occasional accident though and ends up soaking

EmilyandLola ? we?re four weeks into BLW and it?s going really well. Sounds like your lo is loving solids as much as mine!
Have you had your AF yet or will you be testing? Fingers crossed sends babydust

Chilledmama ? hope you lo is feeling better, poor baby. Very funny story though!

Is anyone else sick of the weather yet? I seem to be constantly alternating between dd?s winter coat and summer hat and sandals. Very confusing, wish it?s make it?s mind up!

Have a great weekend

chilledmama · 04/05/2007 19:44

I'm ssooo of your LOs weight gain, Guy is officially titchy! Flirting around 2nd %ile but did gain well in last couple of weeks so getting close to 9th again! His vests are 3-6, babygrows 6-9 but only because he has enormous feet! Most of his cloths are 3-6 as well but if we are away over night and I put him in disposables (normally a cotton nappy boy) then 3-6 just falls off him!!!
He's happy though (well when he's not coughing!).

SkinnyLiz · 05/05/2007 00:46

chilled: have just had a good chuckle at the chewing feet/whatever else is there scenario. lucky boy I've just got a doidy cup to encourage ollie to drink something other than milk! any advice would be gratefully received

Swizzler · 06/05/2007 09:11

Lots to catch up on!

Samsmam: got quizzed by mother in surgery last week as to what I was feeding DS - meekly responded that he was on solids and bfing - think she suspected me of slipping him some steroids!

Gingeme: we have the Avent cup and DS manages with it quite well, tho soaks himslef when he holds it upside down and shakes

Need to buy DS a high chair - we;ve been using his normal chair but he's getting too big. Any suggestions?

samsmam · 06/05/2007 09:46

I've got a chicco one from mothercare. Its ok- but quite bulky if you only have a little space. It does have a nice big tray and it has three reclining positions and a big catch net under it- for all that toast that gets dropped!

Funny I got asked if LO was on Steak and Chips! If she could I'm sure she would!

Off to see my grandad today- its his birthday- first one without my grandma.

EeyoreIsFab · 06/05/2007 09:51

Hi All!

I haven't been on here for ages and given up trying to catch up on the whole thread. Hope you and LOs are all ok.

chilledmama - did manage as far as your last post, lol

DS is doing well. We have been giving him pureed food. He will successfully eat other thinks himself, like veggie sticks, but have had particular problems with banana - its just so slippery!

gingeme · 06/05/2007 10:48

Lo has that problem too Eeyoreisfab. Just too slippery. Good fun watching him though
Swizzler try Ikea. Had some fab ones there. They dont have a tray though so it would sit him straight up to the dining table. I wanted to get one but dh said well use the one ds3 had which I hate because Im forever stubbing my toe on it
Lo moves himself backwards now. We were at my sil yesterday and he nearly moved himself right out her living room. Seemed to move real fast too
Hes taken to waking up at 6am again for a feed. Hope this is just a faze or a growing spurt
Were off to Tesco now. Have a good day all.

Rumpel · 06/05/2007 21:09

Hi All,

Can I request some positive vibes pleaase. We have out an offer in for a house - so hope we get it. I only just gave A fish today for the first time - she has been on veg and fruit. Havent even tried her with toast or anything like that.

My bro, sil and neice have been staying all weekend. She is 3 months and can stand up - her legs are so strong. A just thinks her legs are there to keep her feet in place - so she can play with her toes!
She can roll form back to front at last though. We clap when she does it and she is all chuffed. She is such a happy smiley baby though so I am not bothered about how fast she does things. As long as she is happy.

Start my pole dancing classes tomorrow Hope I dont break the pole!

Nite all.

Looooooooads of positive vibes Rumple. Let us know how it goes. The pole dancing classes too. Your a very brave woman thats all I can say.

EeyoreIsFab · 07/05/2007 11:32
Swizzler · 07/05/2007 17:28

Good luck with the hosue move Rumpel . DS hass also just starting rolling back to front. He does roll to his side a lot - mentioned this to HV and she said, 'Well, that's rolling, don't worry about it' so I'm not

Getting abit frustrated with the food thing - DS really doesn't like veg all that much . Won't eat a lot of pureed food (apart from fruit) so tried him on some steamed veg as finger food. He grabbed hold of it and put it in his mouth then gave me an outraged look: 'This isn't toast! What are you doing to me?' Then he proceeded to mash it into his chair instead [sigh]. Cooking up some tomato pasta at the moment to see if that will suit. Any other ideas? One f the probs is finding time to cook - whoever's on baby duty has to do 2 walks a day (to get him to nap) and can only leave him playing for 5 mins or so at a time...

samsmam · 07/05/2007 21:04

Good luck Rumpel.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Weather hasn't been good really, the sun finally came out at 5pm tonight.

I think that DP and I are officially trying again for baby number 2. But its not going to be pressurized as there is no rush.

Swizzler- Is there a chance that you could batch cook once a week? How did the pasta go? I bought some little pasta stars from boots but haven't tried them yet. LO tried greek yoghurt today with banana mashed in. Sweet potato- have you tried that. I use it lots. She likes sweetcorn and chicken too.

Does everyone always give dinner and dessert at lunch? I never seem to give LO dessert.

samsmam · 07/05/2007 21:10

Oh yeah and I need a kick as I have been very naughty on my diet today- it gets me down when I am weak and eat! FIL took us for Thai meal then it kind of escalated from there.

Swizzler · 07/05/2007 21:42

Samsmam: I reckon you need a day off a week from any diet . After all my cooking, DS tried the pasta, made an orrible face and spat it out! So back to the drawing board. He does like squash, so may try that next. Might also try cooking veg and apple to make it sweeter. Prob with batch cooking is that we don't have a freezer and the little one at the top of the fridge is full of milk.

samsmam · 08/05/2007 07:36

I gave LO chicken, sweet potato and apple and she loved it.

BENDYB · 08/05/2007 08:28

hi all,

good luck with the house rumpel!!!
How did the pole dancing go?

samsmam- good luck trying for number 2!

kai has now tried toast which he loved! & chicken which he hated, sicked it straight back up! I've got the little pasta stars aswell to try in a few weeks.
His fave things are natural yogurt with pear puree & mashed avocado & banana.

have a good day everyone! x

Rumpel · 08/05/2007 09:56

Hi All,

We got the house - YIPPEE!
Moving in July.

Pole dancing was an eye opener. The teacher was slim and gorgeous and the things she could do with the pole
I naively thought it would be kind of aerobic dancing utilising the pole to swing aorund gracefully ho ho. It was proper stuff Turned up in my pink shorts (which I had to buy as I dont own a pair)and trainers and everyone else had heels on. Ended up in my bare feet. Had to jump up the pole and kick your legs straight out and cross them mid air, whilst still holding on AND swing around. I was RUBBISH and humiliated and sweating like a big pink pig with nerves.
I am very sore today. If it wasnt for the fact I hate being a quitter and you had to pay up front for 5 lessons I dont think I would go back. Am just hoping it will shift some extra weight - lost 18lbs now. Once I lose another sotne I will be the same weight as when I fell pg with Amber, want to lose another ontop of that though as there is a good chance we could have twins next time

Amber had potato, carrots and halibut for the first time and loved it. She loves pears, rusk biccies - most things, but hates avocados.

I am very nervous as I have an exam for Uni tomorrow where I am being observed lecturing to a class. I have to go to my old college and teach one of my old lecturers classes! Agggg!

SAMSMAM - good luck with TTC. They say it is good to eat more one day a week as it helps to keep your metabolism up - so dont beat yourself up about it.

gingeme · 08/05/2007 10:29

Yeah well done Rumple on the house front. Bet your relieved. Lol at the pole dancing story. 18lb well done you.
Its my ds1's 13th birthday. Rang him this morning. He seems a happy bunny with his birthday gifts and money. Miss giving him a cuddle for his birthday though
Lo is in the habit of waking for an early bottle again Luckily he goes back to sleep after till about 8. Had to throw away his changing station yesterday as he nearly fell off it twice hes too wriggly now. Bought him a bath seat too. So much easier to bath the pair of them now.
Were off out today to find a flop down bed for when my ds's stay in the summer.
Have a good day all. xxx

BENDYB · 08/05/2007 10:32

good news bout the house rumpel!
lol at the pole dancing, i would be rubbish too, but i'd love to try it, meant to be such good exercise, looks really hard though!

happy bday to your ds gingeme. x

EeyoreIsFab · 08/05/2007 14:13

Congratulations on the house Rumple!

Swizzler - I cooked a huge batch of bolognese for DS last week and he refused to eat it until I had pureed it really well, but eats other stuff just mashed.

Got DS weighed today & he's only put on 2oz in last fortnight, yet I think he eats really well. Not sure if I need to make meals higher in calories/fat or if it's just because he's moving around more?

DS's two bottom teeth are through the gums now and I've already had a few painful experiences whilst bf - anyone else have this problem?

samsmam · 08/05/2007 18:42

Rumpel- Congrats on house, LOL at pole dancing and good luck for exam tomorrow.

I bought some cod today to cook for LO we shall see. I am nervous of cooking fish for anyone let alone LO.
Might try and make her some spaghetti bolognese too.

At last I got LO to sleep in her cot for her morning nap. Better than me having to roam the streets for her to sleep. She has taken to sleeping on her front- do I have to keep rolling her back on to her back? Or is it afe now? What do others do?

Swizzler · 08/05/2007 19:08

Samsmam: well done on the naps . DH got DS to nap in his cot this afternoon - hope it isn't a one-off.

Eeyore: I've been nipped a couple of times but nothing too painful. Bf counsellor at the gp said to gently pinch their nose till they let go, but NOT to react strongly as they'll keep doing it . So if he bites me properly I'll try not to yell and drop him

majormoo · 08/05/2007 19:21

hi all
good luck with the move and the exam rumpel. Blimey pole dancing-now that is brave!

samsmam DS has been rolling on his front to sleep since about 12 weeks. Don't think there is much you can do about it and I think it is OK if they get there themselves (rather than you putting them down that way.)

Eeyoreisfab-last week I was in real pain with DS biting me. Swore it was the end of breastfeeding but he seems to have stopped doing it now. Noticed his second tooth this morning after a dreadful night last night-a temperature and lots of waking up.

Swizzler I'm not particularly daring with DSs food but if I can I puree all or part of whatever DD is having (so spag bol, fish, vegs etc) Could you just save a bit of your dinner and mash it up so you are not wasting time cooking food twice?

Good luck with the TTC samsmam.

Just to go a bit off topic, can I have a rant about smear tests in Brighton? I have had treatment for abnormal cells in the past, but having had a smear in January, still have no result back and have been told it will be a couple more weeks. 4 MONTHS for a smear result. Ridiculous. I forked out £47 last week for a private test so at least I will get a result quickly.

My dd got into the school we wanted which is great, but we both felt a bit sad about our baby starting school. She's an August baby so will just be 4. I keep thinking about that poor family in Portugal as the little girl is the same age as my DD. It is heartbreaking how evil some people can be.

majormoo · 08/05/2007 19:27

by the way when I say it hurt breastfeeding last week I mean my son is a vampire-he drew blood with one tiny tooth!
