I've always looooved driving, but I know exactly what you mean @Lallypopstick - had my first long drive (86km to MIL's house) with Baby Z on my own on Thursday night and it was SO stressful!

He had a full 150ml feed just before we left, was winded, clean... usually he sleeps in the car but of course the first time I took him on the highway by myself that had to change didn't it 😩 We had to pull over at petrol stations a grand total of 3 times because he was crying so much and wanted more feeding. After the second stop he appeared to have drifted off into a nice deep sleep, but then we hit a horrible traffic jam (whilst in the fast lane of an 8-lane highway) and he clearly doesn't like stop/start or slow-moving traffic as he immediately woke up and started howling. There was literally nowhere I could go or pull over for a good 20mins through the crawling traffic, and he was wailing in the backseat the whole time. So traumatic 😭

glitterglitters · 27/08/2017 07:51

It's horrible when they cry in the car. Even if the crying doesn't usually bother you too much (I think being number 2 with a much noisier toddler has helped) but the car amplifies it so much 😓

Just got a letter as well, we're going to a wedding soon in Scotland and splitting the driving into two days, with two hour stints. The day before we have just had a letterror her jabs SadSadI don't want to cancel them but at the same time I'm not sure how she will be travelling.

Hello all, a bit late to the party but wanted to finally join! My little boy was born in July, a month early which made a few things more tricky than they may otherwise have been but we're slowly getting there!
This morning we've finally had our first proper smiles Smile
Hope everyone's doing well and off now to catch up on the thread!

Howaboutanotherusername · 29/08/2017 22:21

Hi all

just looking for a bit of advice my ds is 10weeks and hasn't pooed now for 2days he's formula fed and been on infacol for a reflux i've tried cooled down boiled water a bath and letting him have a good kick but still nothing he's farting quite a lot and bringing up his wind

Any tips?

Algebraic · 29/08/2017 23:32

Hello @thelittlebear! Welcome to the group. Glad you are doing well now. How many weeks is your little one?

Sorry @Howaboutanotherusername I don't have any advice as I'm quite a clueless first time Mum but hopefully one of the other ladies can help.

Been quite a difficult day today, baby L screamed for hours, guzzled down 100ml of milk then promptly projectile vomited twice over DH and also my bed. Would have been funny if the crying wasn't so distressing. For awhile I really thought something was wrong which doesn't help the anxiety!

How's everyone else? It's been very quiet on here this last week.

Notyetthere · 29/08/2017 23:57

Algebraic yes it is quiet; more chatty on facebook i thunk. That is exactly what baby Fran does once or twice a week. Cries for a considerable amount of time and only stops when she vomit her last feed. I wouldn't worry too much unless baby shows other symptoms and the discomfort continues.

Welcome to the group Bear!

Howabout no advice on formula fed babies but it is perfectly normal for a breastfed baby to go for days without a poo. Worth checking with health visitor to see if the same applies to you.

@Notyetthere I should really get myself on this fb group. It's @mynameisntLinda who I message isn't it?

Thanks for the reassurance, the distance the vomit went was shocking and impressive all at the same time!

thelittlebear · 30/08/2017 13:49

@Algebraic thank you! he's just over 8 weeks now :)

I'd love to join the facebook group too, how do I go about doing this?!

nat2311 · 30/08/2017 16:03

@Algebraic yes this threads gone a bit quiet - are you on Facebook?

@thelittlebear welcome to the gang!

@Howaboutanotherusername my LO is ff - is your baby struggling with not going? My hv advised that they can go a couple of days with no poo and every baby has a different 'normal'. My LO was going every other day for a couple of weeks and now we're back to daily but if your baby isn't distressed I would try not to worry to much?

nat2311 · 30/08/2017 16:12

@Algebraic @thelittlebear notlinda said she doesn't check this thread much now but we can add you to the fb group if you message me on here with your names on Facebook I'll add you.

Sorry my phone hadn't updated to see your last messages before my last post!

Spindelina · 30/08/2017 17:54

My DD was mixed-fed, and her normal was to go for several days (record was ten) and then do a ginormous poonami.

mynameisntLinda · 30/08/2017 18:02

@algerbraic just send me a dm with your name and ill find you on facebook. Just need to friend request you to add you to group.
Or if i cant find you ill send you my name xx

mynameisntLinda · 30/08/2017 18:07

But anyone can add you to group once youre friends on facebook.
@howaboutanotherusername if baby isnt distressed then it might just be their normal. You coukd try baby massage on the tummy. Always go clockwise. Bit of grape seed oil, almond oil or coconut oik is good for massage (NOT johnsons baby oil)
Cycle the legs can help too.

nat2311 · 30/08/2017 18:15

@mynameisntLinda out of interest why not johnsons?

Howaboutanotherusername · 30/08/2017 21:14

Thanks everyone we had a poo this morning but he wasn't distressed so ill try not to worry so much!

just wondering why not johnsons? i've used the johnson bedtime oil a few tubes when he's got out the bath?

mynameisntLinda · 30/08/2017 22:15

Its too thick for babies skin and tends to clog pores.
A natural oil is far better and kinder for their skin thats all. Its something we were taught when we did baby massage (which ds1 thoroughly hated)
I know a lot of people boycot johnsons because of their animal testing etc but i do like their bedtime bubble bath so im not against johnsons in general. And although they say their stuff is fine for babies first bath etc i tend to stick with just water until theyre bigger

mynameisntLinda · 30/08/2017 22:18

Newborn skin isnt good at absorbing the oil so it just sits on their skin more.
Coconut oil is my preferred choice and is also great for nappy changes etc as it can prevent nappy rash and soothes sore bums if they do get one
(Its also quite nice on toast and i used it a bit when weaning ds coz i hardly ever have butter in). Great for cooking with too.

Howaboutanotherusername · 30/08/2017 22:25

oh right thank you for the advice on coconut oil?

just any coconut oil?

mynameisntLinda · 31/08/2017 11:02

yea any. I just use tescos own at the moment (it's cheaper than holland and barrat!)
keep it in your cupboard or at room temperature as it's a nightmare to get out of the jar when it's been in the fridge.
I take a small tub with some in for when we go swimming as it's great for putting on when they get out to stop the chlorine drying their skin.

Howaboutanotherusername · 31/08/2017 17:56

Thank you 😊

mynameisntLinda · 31/08/2017 20:14

@algerbraic i wouldnt take feeding hourly as a sign thst yoi dont have enough milk though. Still gsining weight and having wet and dirty nappies. If poo turns dark or wee turns like apple juice then thats usually a sign that they've not got enoigh milk.
Evening cluster feedung is normal. Maybe contact la leche league or local bf peer supporter for advice. Can usually get details for those at sure start

Howaboutanotherusername · 14/09/2017 19:41

anyone any tips on coconut oil and cradle cap?

mynameisntLinda · 14/09/2017 22:29

You can put coconut oil on and then use a baby brush which helps take the loose flakes out

ElleMcElle · 26/10/2017 09:48

Hello - so sorry to intrude on this thread, but I'm due in Jan and would appreciate some pushchair advice from people who have been using them for a few months! I was about to buy the Uppababy Cruz 2017 model, but I'm now doubting my choice after reading reviews of older models that suggest the front wheels tend to get stuck and manoeuvrability is an issue. If any of you are users of the new 2017 Cruz, I'd love to hear any feedback you have. Have the wheel problems been resolved by the latest version? Thank you!

mynameisntLinda · 26/10/2017 14:34

Im still uding my £300 mamas and papas travel systen from my first nearly 3 years ago. Its been worth every penny and never had an issue
