@hugh it was awful. Never had a false alarm in all work jobs - I literally ran into her room and saw she had rolled and moved so think relaxed slightly as brain went into gear but still kinda shook her and she muttered and knew she was ok

Moved her back to middle of cot

Think they need to make the pad bigger !!!!!

tho sorry about your weather - it's boiling here in Kent 🌞🌞🌞

Sat in garden for an hour reading book while dd asleep after lunch

Now playing inside with noisey toys 😂

MotherofA · 28/08/2017 16:09

I have the angel but haven't plugged the pad in because I don't have anywhere to reach the cable to the mains . There's no plug close enough , not sure what to do !
DD does move right up the cot every night though so maybe that alarm would go off all the time ?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/08/2017 16:45

ours is on an extension lead in dd room as wasnt long enough

dd doesnt usually wriggle once asleep, usually sleeps so still that i have been known to prod her gently, hence why have angel to reassure

have placed pad more in centre of bed so hopefully no more scares

maybe if moves up place pad almost under her head, so when wiggles up she will still be partly on it?

MotherofA · 28/08/2017 17:06

Yes good idea and thanks I'll plug in with extension tonight !
I'm quite like that too , I go up and listen for her snoring all the time haha .

Carolann8584 · 28/08/2017 18:59

In complete contrast to last night. DD had her bath at 5:45, 7oz bottle at 6. In Moses by 6:20

purpleviolet1 · 28/08/2017 19:09

We haven't got the angel monitor as our friends bought us a Motorola video monitor. I sometimes wake during the night and stare at the screen until I can see his chest rising and falling though. He's quite a noisy sleeper as well and wriggles quite a bit.

Hoping for a better night tonight.

That's great carol! DS had hardly 15oz today so wondering if last night was the beginning of something. He has been really drowsy and quiet today and was sick after his feed at 6pm

OP posts:
MotherofA · 28/08/2017 19:12

I bet you needed that Carol !

I would have been awful with a video monitor I reckon I would probably sit staring all night haha .

It has been so hot today , I've lacked motivation to do anything !

How does everyone keep their houses clean ?? I used to clean all the time before I was pregnant. Now I'm lucky getting basic dusting and hoovering done. Can't imagine having time to wash skirting boards or clean out cupboards 😩🙈.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/08/2017 19:54

I have both. Like to see her as if she is crying or moaning I can see if she will self settle or not. May moan few mins then thumb will go in mouth and no will settle easily

Wish she did snore. She is sooooo quiet and still when asleep that it's quite scary

Cleaning. Was never good at skirting boards etc before dd 😳😳😳

Hoovering - have Nigel who hoovers his self

And yes so hot. Dd in vest and .5 gro bag and room 26 :(

purpleviolet1 · 28/08/2017 20:17

I used to have a cleaner coming in for two hours a week when I was working full time as I couldn't manage working, keeping on top of the house, getting sufficient rest (health issues) and socialising/ seeing family and friends so something had to give. It's worth every single penny. I thought I wouldn't need a cleaner when I was on maternity as I would have more time Hmm but cleaner came last week for first time since ds and it was a massive help! I am happy to sacrifice something else. Two hours can blast the house so it's fresh starting point each week and ofcourse in between times I do the laundry, general day to day tidying. Would fully recommend!

Yes we are lucky to be able to afford a cleaner although they are quite expensive so we decided on once a fortnight (although I'd prefer once a week)... we don't get much cleaning done in between Blush

MotherofA · 28/08/2017 22:00

I would love one but I think it might be unrealistic for lots of reasons !
I don't get why I've struggled with routine and cleaning etc this time round as I had everything so in order ten years ago with DD.
Hate that I have to keep having in laws round and I know she judges the house .
No idea why I let it bother me !

I like cleaning too haha ! I find it therapeutic.

That's annoying she wasn't very good. Yes I keep on top of daily stuff too but bigger jobs are tough . The house is old and we get cobwebs everywhere it drives me mad .

The huge toys are starting to annoy me too haha like the jumparoo etc but I know it flies by and she soon won't be using them which is sad .

purpleviolet1 · 29/08/2017 14:32

Name change I'm going to try once a fortnight too, once we have settled in. We are having painters coming in at the moment to fix a few things and the dust is crazy!

I hope everyone has had a good day with their LOs. DS actually managed a half hour lunchtime nap and nearly an hour around 4! It's a miracle!

I'm going to view a potential nursery tomorrow. DS will be 9mo when he goes to nursery (1 day a week). Do any of you have any advice on what questions to ask or what to look out for? I've never even seen a nursery!

troodiedoo · 29/08/2017 23:04

We have the Motorola video cam but only use it for (rare!) Naps as dd is in our room. I can't see me being ready to move her into her room anytime soon. Dd1 was in our room for nearly 2 years as we only had a one bed flat till then, it's just what I'm used to.

Dh does all the cleaning in our house Smile apart from the bathrooms which are my job. I got a cleaner for the last month of pregnancy and couple of months after she was born. Well worth it but can't afford it long term.

MotherofA we have a big old house too. Do miss the old tiny flat at times!

HughLauriesStubble you should do, there is serious money to be made. You could clean up. Ha ha ha.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/08/2017 23:22

Ask about their daytime routines.

How they support your child's sleep

What their menus are like

Disapline when older

Ask about turnover of staff. Ask how long the longest member has been there

Watch the staff and how they interact with the children

Do the staff wear slippers

Do they smoke and if so do they change working uniform

Do they have videos you can log in online to watch child

Do they have an outdoors space? How often do they go outside - what do hey do when rainy

MotherofA · 29/08/2017 23:53

Troobie tell me about it ! It's never ending isn't it ? Don't know how my mother coped she had 4 of us and a much bigger house bless her . My house before this was tiny and so easy to clean .
I can't afford or justify a cleaner either. Plus I would probably feel a bit odd being here / working in the house while someone cleaned it haha.
Never thought about smoking staff blondes , got me worrying now . Wish I could keep DD with me all the time .

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/08/2017 05:14

Sorry. Many nursery staff prob don't smoke but some may and if they are in their break you need to know they will do everything they can to limit exposure

So wash hands. Brush teeth and ideally wear a smoking jacket

I seem to be insanely awake 🙄 Baby has been fed and asleep where I'm working but I'm awake

troodiedoo · 30/08/2017 05:26

Hi blondes dd had a quick feed at five and is asleep on me. I've just been browsing on here since then. Feel like I could just get up now and get shit done but I'll go back to bed 😴

troodiedoo · 30/08/2017 05:27

I'm imagining nurseries having a row of velvet smoking jackets on pegs Grin

MotherofA · 30/08/2017 06:35

Grin hahahaha troobie!

Just given DD small feed now back to bed for an hour or so . Back to the school run next week , not looking forward to that !

coupester · 30/08/2017 07:31

Thanks so much @Blondes that's really helpful! I've made a note of all of those. I'll let you know how I get on!

troodiedoo · 30/08/2017 07:57

Good luck coupester are you on any local Facebook mummy Groups? They seem to be a good place for recommendations and anecdotes about nurseries.
