Wish me luck! Could be a rough few nights but I figure it can't be worse than the last few (I've been getting up on average 10 times during the night to see to him, and then staying up with him/ settling him as well

Oh you poor things purple. Best of luck with it.
Someone recommended this website/blog on another thread - it has some interesting articles so I'm sharing the link in case it's helpful at all:

Thanks ladies. He's on the most hypoallergenic milk and max medication. If after removing the dummy he is still crying during the night then we'll have eliminated that cause and it'll be more clear cut. At the moment I'm constantly second guessing myself when he wakes. I sometimes offer feeds thinking he's hungry and he refuses. Other times he just wants the dummy and I think sometimes he gets frantic / hysterical because he has woken up mid sleep. Don't know if this will help but I have to try something. If it's genuine pain I'll be able to see that clearly.

So he's asleep now. Took him 22 mins. Mostly crying Sad was heartbreaking but having a plan really helped me.

Really interesting name change thanks for that! I thought sleep cycles were 45 mins at All points of the day but during the night they are 60-90 mins. That means ds has been waking every sleep cycle really

Hugh
I think orange is fine but not blue/green - and yes it is silly that they sell them! But there are so many baby products that are unsuitable and even unsafe, aren't there?! Such a minefield Confused

purple
Well done for getting him to sleep. 22 minutes isn't bad! Hope you have a better night.

I'd like to change a few things about DS' sleep, but he's in a developmental leap atm (according to the Wonder Weeks app) so I'm thinking it might be wise to wait until it's finished before changing anything. But then we'll be going on holiday which will change everything again Confused

DD has had a bit of a high temp all day 37.9 she's not had much sleep or much of her feeds today but she always has a full feed before bed

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/08/2017 21:54

@purple. Well done. 22mins isn't long at all tho feels forever when it's your child. Next time will be less and yes taking the dummy away is a good idea if more Wakings due to losing it versus comfort

@carolann sorry to hear this

I've had a grotty dd today. Had late afternoon nap by 15m as was playing with daddy and was so overtired took ages to settle and ended up falling asleep in my arms as wouldn't settle in cot. Kept sobbing which is so unlike her

Slept 20mins and woke and again sooooo tired that she couldn't settle

My own fault. I know she gets tired and then can't settle :(

Cuddles and tv helped and went to bed shattered at 7 bless her

Carolann8584 · 21/08/2017 22:40

DD went down at 7:15 little later than usual but after today I think she did well. She's woken twice coz she's lost her dummy, but she just cries in her sleep for it, doesn't even open her eyes and stops as soon as it's back in. She only has it to fall asleep so spits it out once she's in a deep sleep but then needs it if she has to settle again

Well we have finally finished decorating DDs room, new carpet was put down this afternoon......Furniture going in tomorrow can't wait to see it all in.

Looks lovely carol!

First night went really well. He woke at 9pm and it took 11 mins to get to sleep and then woke at 1.49am for his milk. After that it took him 8 mins to get to sleep. He never woke again!!! Grin

Amazing purple! So glad you had a better night, hope it continues!

We've had a bad week of nights and I thought things were improving slightly but last night was hard. DS woke up 3 times and at 4.30am the usual feeding back to sleep didn't work, so I asked DH to rock him to sleep and it took ages. DH usually gets up with him in the morning before starting work but I figure he could with a lie in so I've been up with DS since 6am... he's full of beans, that makes one of us at least! Confused

NameChange30 · 22/08/2017 07:18

PS Lovely wallpaper carol Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/08/2017 07:46

MotherofA · 22/08/2017 08:31

That's amazing purple so pleased for you !

Carol your lo room looks amazing . I remember you showing us that paper in the pregnancy chat and often thought how lovely it was .

DD had been amazing , having a feed at around 10.30 then we have to put dummy in around 4 and she sleeps until 7. She doesn't scream to get up just chatters in travel cot .

purpleviolet1 · 22/08/2017 12:38

Apparently it's tougher the second and third night but by fourth night it should be a doddle...

Under a sleep specialist namechange, it's not as harsh as crying it out as I sit beside him and pick him up at regular intervals but essentially teaching him to self settle without a dummy.

Can recommend her- it's the sleep lady. She does telephone consultations as well.
www.thesleeplady.co.uk/

I've not got any experience with anyone else but she has been helpful and listened/ checked with me what I am comfortable with. You can take it as slow as you want. Biggest thing for me though is her speciality in reflux / cmpa.

Hugh you do make me giggle Grin
Purple good luck wth tonight , sounds like you are doing amazing with it !

NameChange30 · 22/08/2017 16:52

Thank you purple Smile
For now I'm going to see what I can do with advice from websites and books, but if I get so sleep deprived I can't think straight, I will definitely consider a sleep consultant!

purpleviolet1 · 22/08/2017 17:09

I think there are a couple of decent books out there aswell, maybe have a quick google. I was at wits end and I feel much better today even though I kept checking on him because I couldn't quite believe my luck

Really pleased for you purple and hope it continues.

Thanks namechange, that site is great, especially the evidence based literature links and reviews.

Lovely nursery carol.
