So my 9 day old baby boy was delivered by emcs at 37+5 gestation due to presenting breech (waters broke and contractions started). First baby so lots to learn!

Currently giving him expressed milk and formula topup. We tried breastfeeding but there was latch issues, he got very frustrated as he wasn't getting satisfied and my nipple was cracked and bleeding within a couple of days. I then got blocked ducts and the whole thing was a disaster really. I feel like a bit of a failure and did get help from bf clinic for the latch but it was little too late. With the c section recovery I just feel too exhausted to have him on the boob constantly and least with formula he is getting some decent sleep (although I'm usually expressing during this time so don't get a proper rest).

Oh and his fussy time is between 10pm -2am. He tends to feed and need winded on repeat between this time. It's exhausting but tonight I had a nap from 7-10pm in anticipation.

Come and join me for some chat...

My LO likes her swing but let's me know when she's bored of it lol

Just been weighed 10lb 4oz! Chunky bum Grin

Carolann8584 · 26/04/2017 15:46

Oh our swing has 6 speeds. My wild child likes setting 3 speed. Not tried her in the faster speeds yet she would go flying lol

It folds away quite nicely Smile

We don't have a rocker or swing but we recently got a bouncer chair which DS seems to like - bit of a lifesaver! He will happily sit in it while I eat or shower and get dressed Smile

DS is a little better today but I've got full on symptoms - aching aching body, blocked nose, sore throat and generally feeling unwell Sad not managing to lookafter LO and missing him terribly

On a positive note ds was weighed yesterday and he is thankfully putting on weight well and tracking the 50th percentile exactly (just as his birth weight) Smile

hugh I really want to go to a group but with visits and day to day things that need doing I haven't had chance to go to one. I was given a time table from my HV so will have to try and fit one in

That's great hugh how old is your LO now?

purpleviolet1 · 28/04/2017 17:11

Great news Hugh

When we get our new place early July time I am hoping to get black out blinds. Has anyone got them?

That's amazing hugh. DS takes all his sleeps in my arms - makes it pretty hard to eat, wash, clean etc. But the little darling still won't use a dummy, which I think would really help.

Nice one HughLauriesStubble they do like to keep us on our toes.

I need to get some blackout blinds. The blackout curtains I got off amazon are sadly not. I left a curt review and they offered me 7 quid to change it Grin

Carolann8584 · 28/04/2017 20:23

Past 2 nights my DD has been screaming between 7-8 She normally has a feed at 8ish but not showing any signs of being hungry before 8 as she has a feed around 5 as well. Still on 7 feeds a day of 4-5oz

The screaming goes right through me. It's the only time she cries but she really goes to town with it. Sounds like she's either in pain or angry. Not sure what a 5 week old would be angry about Hmm

NameChange30 · 28/04/2017 20:33

Has anyone got "The Wonder Weeks" app or read the book? It's about "leaps" in baby's development at certain stages and explains why they go through periods of being more unsettled. I've only read a bit but it's interesting so far.

We have curtains with blackout lining in the bedrooms, they don't block out the light completely but they do keep it pretty dark. I guess if you wanted it pitch black you could have blackout blinds and curtains with blackout lining.
