C's birthday has been lovely today, we just had grandparents and one god parent round for sandwiches/sausagerolls/cake/wine but it was nice and relaxed and everyone had a good time. Everyone pretty much stuck to the brief and bought clothes rather than toys so she now has some lovely additions to her wardrobe and their playroom is just about manageable! Ds has been a little overwhelmed with all the attention C has been getting and we have gone massive steps back with potty training (from being dry in the day to wetting himself 3/4 times a day Sad) but I think its partly a reaction to me going back to work as well. Hopefully he will figure it out again soon, I haven't got time to be washing everyday!

Dottydoodoo · 28/02/2017 10:30

DS has just had his 1 year review, it was fine! He did score low on the questionnaire but HV didn't seem worried and said she doesn't have any concerns about DS. She will phone me in a couple of months to see how he is doing.

DS did this thing about a month ago where he kind of flicks his mouth and makes a brrrrrr noise, then he stopped doing it for ages but it's made a comeback today. It's so cute!

swear Ive just realised now the health visitor has gone that she seems to think that DS turned one a few days ago, but he is actually not one for a couple of weeks. I feel as if he is a behind when in fact he isn't too, he has sussed out a couple of things on the questionnaire over just the last couple of days. Grrrrr silly questionnaire!

mrsells I'm glad your DD had a lovely birthday. Bless your DS, hopefully it won't take him long to get back into the swing of things.

DomesticAnarchist · 01/03/2017 04:43

Morning all,
DS2 has croup. The cough is nothing, but he's wheezing.
I'm trying to work out if it actually bad, or just sounds bad. His chest isn't "sucking in" or anything, his breathing is just noisy.

Ah, now he's awake enough to be mischievous. Probably not at death's door then.

Doctors when they open though.

It's a bit scary...

vroc81 · 01/03/2017 11:52

MrsE glad you had a lovely birthday, we are going for the opposite and asking for no clothes as my mum has gone a bit dress buying crazy of late!

Dom hope DS2 is doing ok this morning, he has my sympathy - I haven't slept in a week with the coughing and wheezing. R has been fast asleep normally until about 5am when I am so exhausted I fall asleep..

We have our 1 year review next week so at 51 weeks and sounds like we have the same questionnaire as the rest of you, what she could do I ticked when we got it and I'll go through the rest of the things this weekend and see how she gets on..

TheM3ShipsCameSailingIn · 01/03/2017 15:45

Aww Dom croup is no fun. Hope you have a better night tonight!

Me624 · 01/03/2017 17:29

Sympathies Dom. Has he seen the GP today? I sort of know how you feel because DS has a persistent night time cough that wakes him and is virtually every bloody night, sounds like he's dying in there. Took him to the gp a couple of weeks ago though who said no infection and it's just a normal virus which is taking a while to shake. He's had it for 6 weeks Angry

Hope your DS feels much better soon.

Happy birthday to baby MrsElls! Can't believe our babies are turning one.

Swearwolf · 01/03/2017 19:19

Your poor boy dom, I hope you managed to get him seen. My big one had croup a while ago and it was horrible, we ended up at the out of hours in the middle of the night for a steroid injection.

We had an awful night last night, baby was up pretty much all night screaming. She won't feed much any more, hasn't wanted her bedtime feed for over a week and last night was biting me really hard when I tried to feed her in the night Sad hoping it's better tonight as work today was just horrible!

Me624 · 01/03/2017 20:48

That sounds painful Swear. Doing a full day's work on hardly any sleep is the worst! Teething?

When I went to pick DS up from nursery today they told me he'd been bitten by another child Sad luckily one of the staff was right there and stopped it before any real damage was done - apparently DS didn't even cry - but I feel irrationally upset for my poor baby! DH told me to stop being so silly and that DS could just as easily be the biter and not the bitee next time. There's just something about biting that is so animalistic, it provoked much more of a protective reaction in me than when DS got hit over the head with a toy phone by another baby last week!

DomesticAnarchist · 01/03/2017 20:53

Hello all, thanks for the sympathies.
He went back to sleep, but was pretty poorly today. Doc checked all viral upper respiratory tract. Inhaler doesn't seem to be doing much for him but using it anyway.

He's had so many coughs. I think he's got asthma, but doc can't diagnose till he's about 4, apparently.

I hope we don't have to go to OOH swear. I was close at 4:30 this morning. But it's 45+ mins away... no fun at all.

Had his 1-yr review. They only asked about pulling up, milk & food intake. No other form then the one in the red book.

Hope she settles better tonight, Swear.

Me624 · 04/03/2017 07:02

How's DS now Dom?

It was my DS's birthday yesterday. Can't believe it, a whole year old. We went to the zoo and had a grand day out, DS loved the animals. Weather wasn't brilliant but it was lovely and quiet, we practically had the place to ourselves. Today's job is making a cake for his party tomorrow!

FirstTimeMummy25 · 04/03/2017 09:06

Hope your DS is getting better Dom!
It was DS birthday yesterday too me! Glad you had a good day:) we went to the aquarium and DS loved all the fish and lights apart from he didn't realise the glass was there wanted to touch the fish and ended up head butting the glass!
We have a little family party today went a bit OTT and had a cake made but it is amazing! Hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

DomesticAnarchist · 04/03/2017 11:09

Hi Me & FTM, he's still pretty rubbish. The snot has come in, he's still coughing and wheezing, now with hunky eyes. Saw the doc again - still a virus, keep going with the ibuprofen/calpol to keep his temp down.

DH has been on cuddle duty since Wednesday, my turn today.

Happy birthday to the birthday babies. 🎉🎁🎂

DomesticAnarchist · 04/03/2017 11:10

Lol, *Gunky eyes

Dottydoodoo · 09/03/2017 07:44

Dom I hope your DS is feeling better now, poor little thing the rounds of illness seem never ending don't they Sad

Belated happy birthday to baby me and baby ftm!! I hope they both enjoyed their parties.

My DS is going to be one next Saturday. I can't believe how fast this year has gone. We are having a family party at home on his birthday, and may go to the zoo or sealife centre or somewhere like that to celebrate too. I'm planning to make him a cake, but I've caved and am ordering sandwiches courtesy of m&s. There's just too much to do otherwise!

DS learnt at the weekend that he could sit himself up from lying down, and now it's all he wants to do! I put him in the cot for a nap and go in to find him sitting up in his gro bag looking all pleased with himself. So cute!

DomesticAnarchist · 10/03/2017 13:11

Hi @Dottydoodoo

DS2 is finally a bit better. Still coughing. It's lasted over 2 weeks. I've had the cough and the awful sore throat since last Thursday too.

And with that and the virus he had before I've had the worst sleep deprivation ever. I lost the ability to park my car - just zero special awareness. So today I stayed home sick. And I've only just woken up. (Thanks to DH sorting the DCs out).

DS2 slept better last night. So hopefully we'll all be on the up from now.

Congratulations on a getting-up baby! DS2 will try to get up before he's fully awake. Lots of manhandling him back down so he'll drop off again. I remember DS1 doing the same thing. It's like a developmental imperative.

Hope all the other babies & mums are well. x

DomesticAnarchist · 10/03/2017 13:12

Hmm, interesting side note. I did the @ and a drop-down of everyone who has posted appeared. And it automatically bolded Dotty's name. I wonder if Dotty also had an email?

And if I should abuse the system to demand everyone pops in to update?!

TheM3ShipsCameSailingIn · 10/03/2017 15:39

Interesting, @DomesticAnarchist! Let's see if you get an email now....

T turned 1 on Tuesday. We're having tea and cake this weekend, just us and the in-laws. I'm debating weaning her from bf, but it's such an emotional decision! I think we'd all sleep better, but it's not awful, and since I work ft it's a lovely bonding with T every evening. She's my last baby, too, never doing this again.

DomesticAnarchist · 10/03/2017 16:50

@TheM3ShipsCameSailingIn - no email. Maybe the abandoned that function.

I get you, re: BFing. DS2 is my last too, and he's not really fussed about it. I think we could stop today and he wouldn't notice or care. But, like you say, it's a Nice Thing to be able to do, especially when you work FT.

I want to try to keep going a bit longer. If only for the antibodies! Hoping that BF can go back to being his main source of milk soon as he drops bottles entirely during the day. Wishful thinking?!

TheM3ShipsCameSailingIn · 10/03/2017 16:54

I got an e-mail! I feel speshul. I did my post on the mobile site though, which is a bit crap. Maybe it only works if you post in the app?

T would definitely notice if we stopped bf. She bloody loves it, pulls at my shirt all the time and tries to stick her head down my cleavage.

DomesticAnarchist · 10/03/2017 19:20

You are special, @TheM3ShipsCameSailingIn!

Ahh, she sounds really sweet! That's what DS1 was like. I was hoping for the same this time but I think dummy usage has impacted things. On the other hand I didn't have to deal with cluster feeding or hours of comfort sucking, so... can't complain.

sherazade · 10/03/2017 20:47

Hi everyone, happy birthday to all the one year olds and well done march mums for surviving our first year with out tots be they our first, second , third or more.
Ds is a boob addict . There's no way he can get through a couple of hours without the boob and it's wearing me out . When he's ill like now it's his pacifier , food, drink , entertainment , sleep aid , everything . He has developed this horrible habit of sticking his fingers in between my ribs and poking me really hard while feeding 😡 I'm bloody knackered too.

Me624 · 10/03/2017 21:21

My bfing experience with DS only lasted 2 weeks and I have to say while I wished I'd managed more at the time, I'm super glad now that I don't have to breastfeed a one year old! Don't think I could cope with working full time and having broken nights. DS sleeps beautifully apart from the odd night of teething. Not that all ff babies sleep well of course!

Glad your DS is on the mend Dom. I feel like mine is just starting to emerge from the horrible snotty nose and cold he's had since starting nursery a full two months ago. He hasn't woken us all up in the night with his coughing for about a week now and our household tissue consumption is beginning to slow.

Having said that I realise how lucky I am with DS. I had a chat with another mum at work yesterday who returned from maternity leave 3 weeks ago. So far she's had to take 7 working days (out of 15!) off for illness. Her nursery won't give calpol! I've been super lucky with DS, he hasn't had a single day off so far. He's just had two doses of calpol when he's had a slight temperature while he's been there.

We've really settled into a good routine now and although I do pine for slightly more time with him, I'm really happy to be back at work. It's going well, I feel content and we love love love our weekends together.

DomesticAnarchist · 10/03/2017 21:22

I don't know if it's possible for you @sherazade, but my day today at home with both DSs out was so restoratively wonderful. I can't believe it. The first proper day off since DS2 was born. Just some sleep and then more work makes all the difference. I thoroughly recommend it.

And I must do it again. I need to make DH take them out without me.

DomesticAnarchist · 10/03/2017 21:25

Glad you're enjoying being back at work, @Me624.

DS2 has had 4 days off in the last fortnight with this virus (viruses?). I don't remember DS1 being off for anything other than chicken pox.

Dottydoodoo · 10/03/2017 21:28

I got an email, I got an email! I feel speshul too Grin!

Dom I'm glad that DS is feeling better. We are all getting over a horrible cold/cough thing too. Wow! It sounds as if you really needed that sleep! Fingers crossed that sleep will turn a corner.

mship happy birthday to baby T! I hope you all enjoy your tea and cake, it sounds scrummy! CakeBrew

sherazade ouch that sounds painful Sad I hear you re being knackered, DS seems to think 5.30 am is an acceptable time to wake up recently Sad

Lol the sitting himself up is hilarious! We have got an angel care video monitor so when DS is in the cot trying to settle we suddenly get this huge head appear on the monitor screen!!
