Thank you everyone Smile we had a really good time. It was lovely to get out for a couple of hours as me again, and DS was completely fine.

Beautiful congratulations!

Dom oh no 😭 Boo to waking up in the night, maybe last night was a blip (crosses fingers!)

I'm at work tomorrow and monday, normally when I leave in the morning DS is still asleep and he is in bed asleep by the time I get home. I won't see him properly for two whole days Sad bedtime is going to take forever tonight because he's going to have to have loads of extra cuddles!

vroc81 · 24/04/2017 13:00

Hi beautiful glad to hear all is going well and hope you have a good holiday! As is the random way I did find myself thinking about you a few times over the last year and what had happened with the ex as it was all sort of going on as you were about to give birth?.. Congratulations on the pregnancy!

Dom boo to the lack of repeat performance- will keep my fingers crossed!

BeautifulLiar · 25/04/2017 18:56

Hi vroc! He left when the fourth baby was almost 8 weeks old. Tomorrow is actually one year since that day! Hope you're well :) xx

TheMShip · 27/04/2017 12:59

T has slept through two nights this week! Of course the night between those two was hellish ...

DH has a theory that it's related to the 2-1 nap transition. Both sleep-through nights were after days when she'd been at nursery in the morning and not napped till after lunch when she was home again. He's going to try keeping her up and active all morning today and see what happens.

sherazade · 28/04/2017 14:55

How many naps are we on now ?
To my surprise ds dropped his second nap all in one go just after Easter which I thought was quite early . He has a single nap at 12.
Is anyone else firmly in the 1 nap camp?

Me624 · 28/04/2017 20:28

Did you have any luck with keeping T up MShip?

sher DS has one nap on nursery days and two naps on home days, usually. Sometimes only one though. It depends on timing.

We're suffering badly from early waking over here - anything from 4.30am to 5.30! Tried a black out blind, in case it was the lighter mornings, but it has made no difference. Some days he'll go back to sleep if I go in and find his dummy for him, but mostly he's up for the day. I don't get him up, just leave him chatting in his cot until at least 6 when I can just about face starting the day, but I don't really get back to sleep myself (he's too loud) so I'm shattered lately. Really hope it's just a phase.

TheMShip · 28/04/2017 21:41

Me - Yesterday was a struggle, T finally did about 70 minutes from 2pm, but she was overtired. She woke only once in the night, though, and then slept till 6:30. Today she managed about a 2 hour nap 1-3pm after a busy morning at nursery, hoping it means a sleep-through!

sher we're in the tail end of the 2-1 transition. She'd like to have two but she sleeps way better overall with one.

Hope everyone gets a nice quiet weekend.

sherazade · 29/04/2017 11:52

Thanks for the response mship
Me the blackout blinds worked here but it took a few weeks !

Dottydoodoo · 30/04/2017 20:59

I hope everyone is having a good bank holiday weekend. It's just started raining here Sad.

Sher It's very interesting reading about naps. For the last three days DS has refused to have his afternoon nap, but as a consequence has gone to bed earlier and has been sleeping for longer in the morning. The only problem is trying to keep him up for longer before his morning nap, he gets so grumpy when he is tired! Any tips mship?!

me we have a blackout blind but DS has had it since he moved into his own room. I think it does help, he has a blackout blind and curtains and the room is pretty dark when I go in to get him in the morning. Fingers crossed that it is just a phase. DS did it for about a week before he started walking, maybe your DS is about to learn something new?

DS came out all spotty today, I think a reaction to his MMR. They are mainly on his tummy, some on his back and a couple on his face. He passed the glass test fine but rashes and things always look so scary don't they.

I am working tomorrow so DS is spending the day with DH. At the moment I feel like I go into work to have a rest haha!!

1frenchfoodie · 01/05/2017 00:12

Hi guys, long long time. Just settling in after our move to france. Loving seeing DDs personality come through. She thinks she can wink now - we try not to laugh at her mad squint...

sher we are down to one nap 6 days out of 7, we miss the second nap 😐

Poor you with the early wakings me, luckily DD is pretty solid 20.00 - 01.00 and 04.00-06.45, with more nights through than disrupted in the last fortnight. Hopefuly just a phase. We had months of waking at 01.00 and 04.00 every night but it disappeared as quickly as it started. Hope for the same for you.

DomesticAnarchist · 01/05/2017 02:08

Hope your move was as smooth as these things can be, @1frenchfoodie.

We're away from home again. And DS2 is of course not sleeping. Which means I'm not sleeping. As usual.

He still needs 2 naps, but the second seems to want to come about 4:30 which is way too late and messes up bedtime. And he still wakes, at least once, if not more, between 1-4am. 😩

MrsElls · 05/05/2017 22:03

Oh beaut its so good to hear everything is so great for you. Often if dh is out and I've had a tough day with 2 kids I wondered how you we're coping with 4 and hoped it was all working out ok.

C has one nap on nursery days but 2 at home or with mil. She seems to cope ok with either. She had a week or so when she struggled to go down but it was just before she started walking so probably down to that. We are starting to get a few words now, she has daddy and shut nailed and makes good attempts at cheese (cheeeeeee) and shoes (shooooooo). We did sing and sign classes and she is really picking it up now. I love this age, they look so proud of themselves when they do something new.

Ohwoolballs · 09/05/2017 17:34

Peacemarking so I can come back and do a proper update later on :)

Dottydoodoo · 10/05/2017 11:26

Helloooo everyone! It's gone a bit quiet here lately, probably these little ones keeping us busy!

We had some really good news yesterday. My Dad had a melanoma removed and we were worried that it may have spread, but we found out yesterday that what they removed was all contained and his scans were completely clear. I cannot say how relieved I am. He still has to go for very regular check ups, but so far so good.

DS has just mastered clapping, bless him. Better late than never! We are getting a couple of words too, banana (barara) and flower (wawa)!

I bought a stroller yesterday as the travel system is a bit bulky at times. DH said he would put the travel system in the loft but it's still out as I'm not quite ready to do that yet. If it goes in the loft then DS isn't a baby any more!

It's a beautiful day here today in the south east. I'm just waiting for DS to wake up from his nap and then I think we might go and have a picnic in the park Smile

MrsElls · 10/05/2017 12:37

Oh dotty that is good news about your dad, you must be so relieved.

Dh and I have always said 2 kids is enough for us so I've been selling all the baby stuff as it is finished with but ds said this week 'mummy I really wish we could have another baby', he obviously loves his sister but it took me by surprise and I now wonder whether I've been a bit quick off the mark selling stuff! Ds followed up his with 'mummy I also wish we could eat worms' so maybe I shouldn't ready too much into the ramblings of a 3 year old!

Me624 · 10/05/2017 19:20

Great news about your dad Dotty.

We need to pick up a cheap stroller too. I'm planning on keeping DS in his pushchair quite a while but we're going to Spain next month so I want a cheap stroller to take there - don't want my expensive pushchair getting thrown around and broken in the hold!

Anyone else flown recently and got any tips? It's only a 2.5 hour flight but I'm slightly dreading it, DS can't sit still for 5 minutes and won't be happy being stuck on my lap (kind of wish we'd bought him a seat but too late now). I'm planning to take LOTS of snacks to distract him with and stick the iPad in front of him for the majority of the flight ...

DS is advanced on his gross and fine motor skills but totally uninterested in talking, he communicates very effectively by pointing at what he wants and making noise so I think he doesn't see the point in forming actual words! He'll get there ...

sherazade · 10/05/2017 19:53

That's wonderful dotty
*
Me* I totally know where you are coming from.
Ds doesn't sit still for more than a minute and I have a four hour flight this summer which I am Dreading. Am thinking snacks , iPad ... what else ? You can bribe him with all the snacks and technology in the world but his absolute most favourite thing is to run around freely and wreak havoc .

Me624 · 15/05/2017 22:34

Anyone else got a fussy eating toddler at the moment? DS, previously a champion eater, has turned his nose up at most of his meals for the last two weeks or so. He'll happily eat toast, cereal, porridge, weetabix, yoghurt, crumpet, fruit. But stick any kind of "meal" in front of him and he barely touches it. He's easily fooled and will start eating if I put it on my plate and eat some myself and he thinks he's stealing from me. But I'm a vegetarian and he's not so can't do that all the time! He's even stopped eating much at nursery which surprised me with all that peer pressure. Hopefully just a phase. He can stand to lose a bit of chub so I'm not too worried yet.

sherazade · 16/05/2017 20:52

Reverse issue here, ds who has had little else but my milk till now has just discovered the delights of food and is wolfing everything in sight down! He's cut down on breastfeeding naturally as a result- I'm not complaining !

Had a look at nurseries today as I've applied for the job ... still feeling torn about whether I can manage or not but career wise I think it's best to get my leg in again ..

Dottydoodoo · 17/05/2017 13:28

mrsells, me and sher thank you, it is such a relief. As a family we have had a run of bad luck and stress regarding health over the last few years, so this is such good news.

me my DS has turned really fussy recently, actually he is a little better now but I started a thread in 'parenting' about it a couple of weeks ago as I didn't know what to do! He will sometimes turn his nose up at things he really loves which is very frustrating, and it's usually at dinner time. Then I end up making him toast which he will eat, but there's not much nutrition in a slice of toast! I think for my DS teeth have a lot to do with it. Is your DS teething at the moment?

sher well done for applying! I'll keep everything crossed for you.

I have nicknamed DS Mr Bump today, bless him. He fell over yesterday and bit his lip on the way down and it bled for a while. Then this morning he tripped and fell, and bumped his head on the coffee table on the way down Sad. He's fine, but he's got a bruise and an egg on his head. I felt awful. I know accidents happen and it can't be helped, but his little face was so sad.

Is anyone else's little one having tantrums yet?! DS had an epic meltdown after eating his lunch when I was cleaning his face, he was looking tired and rubbing his eyes so he went up for his nap, and then when he got there he decides he would rather stand up and bounce around in the cot! He is asleep now though, thank goodness!

FirstTimeMummy25 · 17/05/2017 19:10

Sher good luck with the job!
Me we had the same here about a month or so ago. After about 2/3 weeks he was back to normal I was doing the same and making toast as I knew he would eat it but then decided not to and guessed if he was hungry he would eat and he soon did... I think my DS was testing his boundaries personally but it could of been a phase... little monkeys!!

Lawgal448 · 23/05/2017 20:42

Thanks Dotty and FTM, good to know my DS isn't the only one being fussy. He's hit and miss, he demolished a roast dinner at the pub on Sunday, but hasn't eaten much lunch today or yesterday at nursery. I have cut out snacks though and if he doesn't eat it I'm not making him anything else. hopefully just a phase and it will pass soon! He has been teething for ages so that probably isn't helping.

Dotty we definitely get tantrums now! I can normally distract DS quite quickly though which is good at least.

Me264 · 23/05/2017 20:45

Oops name change fail. I changed it to post about something that happened at work the other day - didn't want to risk being identifiable and then someone doing a search to see all my previous posts about DS!

sherazade · 24/05/2017 01:16

Me- you can report the post and ask mnhq to change it
Much love to anyone affected by events in Manchester . My home town :(

Me264 · 29/05/2017 19:19

Bagged a bargain today! We needed to upgrade DS's car seat, he's very squashed in his maxi cosi group 0. We went to John Lewis to have a look at options, I wanted a swivel one so we can keep him rear facing for longer and there aren't that many options, most are quite expensive. From my online research beforehand I knew I was looking at the Britax Dualfit as one good option and it was reduced to £215, that's about £100 cheaper than it is normally! So we snapped it up. DS looks so much more comfortable in it, I feel slightly guilty now for not doing it earlier!
