Would love to, but you will all have to come my house (or somewhere on my bus route LOL )

mygirllollipop · 25/04/2007 10:46

Nj -know what you mean, all our family are 4hr drive away. Hated DDs school but didn't make many friends there anyway (about 5), and I have 1 neighbour friend. Being a SAHM I don't have work friends either. I'd love to move back home but DH loves it here. We're trying to get my mam to move down here though!
Debbsy - good idea to only post on this thread, we'll support you here.

NatalieJane · 25/04/2007 11:14

It is so hard isn't it Mygirl?

George is eating his straps on his rocker, do you think he could be hungry? I suppose I had better go and feed him!!

BFN xxx

debbsyandsonn · 25/04/2007 11:20

Thanks mygirl i know you will
nj thats not a problem email me [email protected]

podglet · 25/04/2007 12:38

Hi all,

Wish I was a bit nearer to some of you, then we could have meet ups and stuff. Although my mum and DP's sister are in the same town, I don't have many other "mummy" friends to get together with.

Debbsy - V pleased you are staying I might have to give the teaspoon of juice thing a try. DS will not drink water so I may have to con him a bit! At the moment, he won't drink formula either and I want to give up day time bf next week so am a bit stuck - any ideas anyone?

mygirllollipop · 25/04/2007 13:11

Podglet - DD4 is happy to have things off a spoon but will drink from a cup (gets messy if she grabs it off me!).
Debbsy - glad you are staying keep us updated on your friend. If there's anything we can do.........
NJ - It is quite hard I told myself I was/am OK but I thought about it and alhough I think it's not bad when I'm here, I realise what I'm missing when I go home WRT friends and family (and babysitting opportunities!). My hope is kept alive by the thought we will move back.

I will be happy to organise a meet up if we all want to, names on a list I think is the way. Who wants to come, where they live and how far they can travel, who will be coming with them kind of thing?

saralou100 · 25/04/2007 13:58

podglet, is it formula or bttles he doesn't like??

doidy cups from the nct are great... or try a different brand of formula?

mygirl, i'd be up for a meetup! i think it would be quite funny to meet you all in rl!!

i don't mind travelling, i can break the journey up staying at my mums in w london!

OP posts:
podglet · 25/04/2007 14:32

Mygirl & saralou - he doesn't like the formula or the bottle! I am trying him on Aptamil at the moment as that is the one he accepted at Christmas when he had a bottle a day for a while. He won't even sip it out of a cup or from a spoon - v frustrating - he just turns his nose up and should any get in his mouth, it gets spat straight back out! My HV suggested going "cold turkey" during the day and not giving in but this seems a bit harsh. It might also make him go cold turkey and then feed all night! Aaaarrrrgggghhh, sorry, feel better now!

Re meetup - will put details like mygirl suggests, would be fun to meet you all properly!

Location: Colchester
Travel: no car, so will have to use public transport
Distance: London prob best and furthest I can get to in a day.
Others: just me and DS

mygirllollipop · 25/04/2007 16:39

Podglet - DD3 was exactly the same, no advice as she weaned herself when I was about 5 months pg with DD4.
I'm in the West Midlands but can travel anywhere, will have the 4 dds plus probs DH.

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 25/04/2007 20:14

Hello again

Just decided to pop by and say hello and hope all is well (haven't had chance to read through the messages yet)

Re: Weaning - Taro is four and half months old, but I am weaning him with the full support of my health visitor. She told me that the six month rule was issued by the world health authority and is mainly aimed at the third world countries. I took my lead from Taro who has been 'messing about' during breastfeeding, watches every mouthful of food I take with obsessive interest and tries to grab it. I am avoiding gluten and cows milk until he is six months old, but the variety of homemade purees needs more work. He likes his baby rice (not too runny), pear, carrot and swede (even got him to enjoy spinach!) but the ultimate favourite has to be banana. He still gets breastfed when necessary. My only problem with the solids is getting the food prepared quick enough!

As for me I had to return to work this week -using my holiday to reduce my week to two and half days. Taro is in the College nursery and loves it and my work colleagues are being so supportive, I've hardly had to work at all!

Good luck all.

Lady Anne

HappyCatandIzzy · 25/04/2007 20:49

I'll happily meet up with people. I'm in Lancashire and DD and I can travel a couple of hours by car before she gets really ratty, which would take me to the Midlands I think.

And NJ, if you want a friend to come and say hi before we manage to arrange the meet up then I think I'm only 20-30 minutes away here in Preston. Let me know what you think. I'll drive to you, or to somewhere close to you if you prefer.

I've always thought it might be odd meeting people in the flesh after sharing so much online, but it's hard to find friends with babies who are experiencing the same thing as you so I think I'd like to meet up with people and make friends properly.

Bethbe · 25/04/2007 21:40

Hiya all,

Saw a HV today who is also a Breast-feedking Councillor who spent an hour with me asking questions and watching me feed. She told me LO really is ready for weaning - so tomorrow I'll probably start with the wallpaper paste!

staceym11 · 25/04/2007 22:06

hiya all,
think iv missed a lot been wrapped up in trying to get stuff sorted for charlee! if anyone has stuff they feel like donating to be sold (you send pics and description we put them on a pic trail and when they'r sold we tell you the address and refund you the postage) then feel free to [email protected] (helenhismadwife)

sara do i remember correctly that you have fostermums email (charlees mum) as i need to ask her something about this holiday (someone very kind has offered their apartment in spain but i need to know if it would be viable at any point) thanks!

Bethbe · 25/04/2007 22:26

Stacey, - I'm sure I have some things but probably won't be able to attend to until Monday.

Well done you.....I think it's fantastic what you're doing!

Bethbe · 25/04/2007 22:30

Stacey, - we need to bear in mind that the holiday would not give the expenses they might not have budgetted for. I.e airport transfers, taxis, meals out, ice-creams for the kids etc. A UK holiday might be easier to manage, but that depends how much is raised!

staceym11 · 25/04/2007 22:33

well this person was willing to give their apartment for free, so the money raised would be to cover the flights etc. but i will need to speak to her mum and find out wether this will be practical!

staceym11 · 25/04/2007 22:34

oh and thanks for the offer of some bits bethbe that would be great!

people keep saying what im doing is great but i cant work out why, i havnt acctually done anything?!

debbsyandsonn · 26/04/2007 04:41

stace i need to donate too what do i do?and it is lovely what you have done
i would love a meet up
location staffordshire
travel anywhere really
others ds
anyway can i just ask a quick question,i have my meeting for my appeal for 4 day working sweek next week, got to do a presentation for it,so thats why im up at 4.30am ds sleeping soundly-bless.
But work have asked me to go on a training course off 2 days on the 8 and 9 may,my mat leave doesnt finish until the 13th may so how do i stand on this? Would they owe me two days extra?

mygirllollipop · 26/04/2007 07:34

Debbsy - the training course would end yr mat leave legally. DH was not allowed back at his hosp in the two weeks he had pat leave. He wanted a week off then two weeks at half days as this would have been better for the family but they said as soon as he did the first half day that would effectively end his pat leave.
I think this meet up would be good for those feeling down. I have taken a note of everyone who is interested and their location and will arrange something once everyone has decided.
Stacey- you have arranged things for Charlee and devoted some of your time to a good cause (not saying you are a charity Charlee ) we have all had the thought there about Charlee, I'm looking through stuff to sell ATM.

staceym11 · 26/04/2007 07:55

OP posts:
debbsyandsonn · 26/04/2007 12:04

ROFL Saralou at the dickhead comment, pisser whats he done?
Spoken to hr and there is something that came out in april called back to work days so its sorted now,i do the course get paid and have the days off so dont go back till the 5th june now.

Bethbe · 26/04/2007 12:12

Debs, please ring the DTI or someone. I'm pretty sure this rule is only for women that were due after April 07, - like the 9 months SMP!
