Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

Diva both your girls are lovely. And you look fab too, esp as you have just given birth. I look like pants in my new birth photos and I cheated with an elective CS! You all look so happy and contented. Wonderful!

DD2 is stirring. More later. She's slept rather well this evening so no dbout am in for a rough night

foxcub · 15/04/2007 22:15

must go - my boobs are booked by monti for 10.20pm

Rosylily · 16/04/2007 08:04

I should start expressing but I feel lazy about it, but with the others i haven't been able to get them to adapt to a bottle until about 9/10 months (and then can't get them off it)
I would like to be able to go out eventually. Although not with dh, certainly not, I want him to babysit

Diva, you look lovely it's nice to put a face to a name and have a nosey I hope you feel better soon in yourself. You really must start appreciating your looks and healthy body! cuz when you are old and about to pop your clogs you will look back at how gorgeous you were and kick yourself otherwise for not enjoying it while you can! When I was 30 I was forever finding fault in my looks but now that I'm ageing....new perspective!

Cor you lot are all getting very organised with all the routines. I'm just floating along on automatic, hardly even aware of how often I'm doing feeds!

Rosylily · 16/04/2007 08:27

just read my post and I sound like an old granny! yep les Dawson old bag would be about right, and also when I play the piano I sound just like Les then!
Speaking of playing piano where is Booboo?

foxcub · 16/04/2007 09:32

I was wondering about Booboo too?

Diva interesting what you say about wanting to FF Elsie in private too. Agree its not just the exposure re BF in public - also feels much better to feed Monti in a quiet calm place than in a busy public place

he woke me last night at 1am, 4am, 7am....

The Full-on Monti!

hope everyone else got more sleep than I did!

xx

kittyhas6 · 16/04/2007 10:36

Foxy, I look like sh*t, my eyes are like little dots

Still kiddies are at school, hooray, at last, some peace and quiet

kiwibella · 16/04/2007 11:37

absolutely lubbery pics Mossy and Diva!! How special are these babies

I have had a quick scan through but will try to catch up later - busy weekend, exhausted, place is a tip.... you know what it's like !!!

kiwibella · 16/04/2007 11:56

bloody procrastination! I have uploaded a piccie of the girls from out day out yesterday.

divastrop · 16/04/2007 12:00

hi everyone.

i am very atm.i just went to the family plannig clinic cos since i had that coil fitted ive gained 10lb.i think its water retention cos my fingers etc are swollen but its not right.anyway, the nurse said 'it wont be the mirena cil thats caused that' then went on to say i was silly and unreasonable, that if women with the mirena put weight on then its just coincidence...blah blah.then when shed finally reduced me to tears she said i was probably depressed, did i have enough support at home etc,and that i might have been eating more due to depression and tiredness .i had to walk out before i swung for her.

im taking Elsie back to the doctors this arvo as shes still only taking 2 oz at a time and still has the runs.she seems ok in herself,in fact she is being very smiley and cute when shes awake

kitty-i find the fact that i cant leave dd2 and Elsie alone together is the most stressful thing atm.she has also taken to wacking her on the head etc.she doesnt mean any harm, shes just playing, but she could do alot of damage if left to her own devices.oh well, another year and they'll be beating the c**p out of each other like ds and dd1

kittyhas6 · 16/04/2007 12:33

Ah Kiwi get your lovely smiling, pretty girls!!! In't it amazing how much these little babies change in such a short time. She looks so much like a bigger baby already. Gorgeous

Diva, what do you think the weight gain could be down to?
I had the Mirena for a while a couple of years ago and had no probs at all with it. I have heard that some people do have probs though. There was a thread on this recently I'll see if I can find it for you.

kittyhas6 · 16/04/2007 12:38

Diva, this is an older thread but might have some interesting info for you here

sazzybee · 16/04/2007 12:50

just a quickie as I really need to get him up for a feed and I want to make a cup of tea first but he slept 10-3 and 3-7 last night!

I'm sure we'll have more rubbish nights but every good is a step in the right direction

Thank you for giving me a vague grasp on sanity xx

LaidbackinEngland · 16/04/2007 12:54

Hello everybody Love everyone's photos !

Got back from north Devon last night after seeing lots of houses - nothing we wanted to put offers in on though , so back to the drawing board. Have had a busy few days. We went to a funeral in Cornwall on Fri of old family friend. DH's gran went into hospital on Friday and looks like she wont make it - but to complete the circular nature of life, DH's brother and his wife had their baby on the same day - a little girl, so we are all thrilled. A birth, a funeral and an impending death.

DH had a surf at Woolacombe Bay this weekend and DS2 and I were playing on the beach with Amos in the sling. DS2 got a bit overexcited with the wet sand and threw two massive handfuls in Amos' face. It went in his eyes up his nose and in his mouth. I had nothing with me [embarrased lazy mother emoticon] and the car was miles away. Didn't want to leave the beach in case DH came out of the water and couldn't find use. Eventually borrowed a suspect tissue from an old lady (only sightly used) and wet it in a rockpool and got some of the sand off. Poor Amos has his first exfoliation treatment and later his first bath

Anyway...sorry to hear about those having sleeping troubles. I swear by co-sleeping. Have done it with all 3 and all have been good sleepers which has saved my sanity. I know it oesn't suit everyone and some people have struggled to get their kids out of the bed - I think Diva mentioned that before.

I follow the Rosy school of feeding. A help yourself, all you can eat buffet

Going for a picnic tomorrow... maybe we should start to think about a summer meet up with our bairns ?

Where is Boo ? I thought about her this weekend too - hope she is OK .

LunarSea · 16/04/2007 13:29

I'm with the "help yourself" school too - literally, as Toby did his self-latching trick again last night. He does seem to be naturally drifting into a routine of feeding at (approximately) 11pm, 3am, 7am, 8am, 10am, 1pm, 5pm, 7-9pm (big feed!) though.

Rosylily · 16/04/2007 14:00

Kiwi, what lovely photos! aahhh. Kitty I know you love newborns and I do too but I really love it when their little personalities start to show in their face. Actually every stage they get to I think ooh I love this stage!

Laidback, getting them out of the bed is the problem! we need a bigger bed!
My ds1 got sand right in his eyes when he was 2ish and that was a total nightmare, poor Amos! And then he had to have a bath did he like it?

Diva, have you been to the dr about yourself? do you think you are still depressed? Stress does funny things to your metabolism too and it is still really early days and you seem to be far too hard on yourself.
Once the depression lifts everything looks totally different, remember? I am so gratefull not to be depressed that even the most mundane day feels great to me now. I'm always a bit afraid of being struck down with depression again. The hideousness of it is fresh in my mind from last year.
Have you tried st john's wort?

divastrop · 16/04/2007 14:10

i started taking st.johns wort last week cos my prozac ran out and i hadnt had time to go to the doctors.most days i feel ok but it only takes the slightest little thing to set me off,but i put that down to hormones still being all over the place.

kitty-thanks for the link i will have a look now

Mossie · 16/04/2007 14:26

Just popping in quickly, still in the "getting the hang of it" phase!!

Kiwi and Diva your photos are lovely, although Diva you're blonde?! I don't know why but I always thought you'd have really long dark hair!!! Oh well!!

Lovely little newborn babies... they're so adorable!!

Bertie seems to be feeding all the time, then he stops and sleeps for hours. Last night he slept from two o'clock until about six, which was great, 'cos so did I! But since he's woken up I've been almost non-stop feeding him.

Ah i'll get it worked out in the end, and can't complain about the sleep.

sorry, I promised I'd cach up and I hadn't, I just haven't had the time between feeds, he is making sucking noises at me now from his little sling... if I ignore them, he starts sucking his thumb, then making more sucking noises, then... "WAAAAGH!!! WAAAAGH!!"

You can tell he's proper hungry sometimes when dh picks him up to calm him and he starts hunting around for a boob, looks mighty disppointed whne there isn't one, I pmsl!!!

Dh is being a star, doing all the housework in these early days & the cooking so I can get the hang of this feeding & sleeping lark...

Sorry I did mean to come back and write more but duty calls ladies,

Diva sorry about your crappy viist to the docs by the way what a stupid cow!!!!

Promise I will be back soon but it may be a couple of days, I guess this is what they call "baby moon"!!!

Hugs to all of you anyhow!!! {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

divastrop · 16/04/2007 14:35

mossie-i dont know how you manage to find time to come on here atall in these early days, much respect to you

im naturally blonde but i dyed my hair a lighter shade of blonde.strange, mossie, but i imagined you to have long dark curly hair before i saw pic of you

kittyhas6 · 16/04/2007 14:45

Diva I've ordered some stuff called mood food. They are tablets with stuff in that acts as a natural anti depressant. I took them after dd3, even though I was not depressed after her really, but I can get very low, especially if I feel tired and have over stretched myself which I always do.

The thought of getting low again really panics me, so I thought I might nip it in the bud.

I can't believe we are all here with our lovely babies. I think it's just wonderful that I have the great fortune to have had you as my mates through this time. I can't imagine how life would be without this support

Piffle · 16/04/2007 15:04

Well my dream baby turned into hound of hell last night
So sazzy GIVE me my baby sleep pattern BACK now thanks
GRumpy, feeding like a starved lad, then not settling infact fully waking and then needing 100000 nappy changes and then not settling... Cue me so much back patting I have RSI and an unusuable left hand.
He wanted one boob to exhaustion, pretended to lapse into usual post boob sleep, then 35 mins later wake up squealing and draining the other. only to need it again an hour later

However he has gone from 10lb 5oz last Friday to 11lbs 2oz this morning
I'm wondering if this will stop he is about to jump off the centile chart he has gone up tons, he now matches his height...

I am exhausted and today I took no prisoners
We have been out and about, a picnic, supermarket dash, ice cream dash, post office dash
The poor lad has been up and down.

Tonight oh yes tonight he will sleep

foxcub · 16/04/2007 15:11

Diva - sorry you had such a crap visit to the doctors - wonder why you might be gaining weight?

Hope Elsie is OK too...

Kiwi- what gorgeous girls - Kate has a lovely smile. Momnti is trying to smile but its nothing like Kate's more of a toothless open mouthed lop sided thibg (cute though )

Mossy sound as though you are doing really well

foxcub · 16/04/2007 15:12

blimey piffle - I was congratuilating myself for managing to do bank, waitrose and argos this morning - you've done masses!!

Piffle · 16/04/2007 16:05

the accolades are not mine
My wonderful ds who is 13, made our picnic lunch and has helped beyond words today.

I will be truly up shit creek without a paddle when he goes back to school next week
god knows how dd will get to nursery, apparently I have to get up and drive her there with a baby in tow, and get them all fed beforehand, plus dd needs to be dressed... Am not sure how on earth I'll manage...

correction no doubt with a screaming baby in tow

evenhope · 16/04/2007 17:04

Silly question time. What is everyone dressing their babies in, in this extreme weather? DD has been getting really hot and bothered so has been in just a vest for the last 2 days. DH says he doesn't like seeing her little skinny legs uncovered (!)

She hasn't slept all day, until 5 minutes before we were due to take her to the hospital to have her hips scanned. She was not amused and has refused to sleep since... DH took her out with him to get the boys from school to give me some peace. I love her to bits but I swear my nips are starting to contract when I hear her snuffling.

kittyhas6 · 16/04/2007 17:07

Piffle, yes the morning getting ready for school fiasco is interesting............
