Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

Anyone else gone lopsided when their milk has come in? Right boob is about 3 cup sizes bigger than the left this morning, and so engorged that poor Toby can't get his mouth round the nipple at all. Am in two minds now whether to try expressing from it enough to hopefully let him grab hold properly afterwards, or whether that's just going to encourage it to produce even more!

LunarSea · 07/04/2007 10:55

foxcub - look here

Piffle · 07/04/2007 11:38

expressing enough to allow him to latch on is ok. that support belt check sellers other items

peppermint tea is meant to be good at drying up milk,
am b/f at pc with limited time lol

finn cluster fed from 6-8.30pm yesterday there ensued a night of 3 hrs sleep between feeds, plus he never pooed all night so less changes! hooray!

shanks313 · 07/04/2007 14:25

foxcub-Im not BFing Deanna and I was tokd not to do anything, after 6 days your brain get the message that you dont need milk and your boobs stop producing.Although it was very sore for the first few days.I felt like I had cast iron boobs

spongecake · 07/04/2007 19:18

hi ladies, no time to read all the posts but hoping to catch up a bit next week when dh is back at work he has been wonderful- am still in recovery.. and a bit tearful when i catch sight of myself- dp and baby looking like advert for perfect parent, mama looking like fat hobbling jumble sale.

baby cries a lot but thats the crappy drugs I am on til monday and if anyone has tip on wearing a bra at night vv welcome... am wearing nursing one with pads as if I don't milk goes everywhere (am bf)...

ps- why is it that a newborn is an excuse for everyone to tell you what you are doing wrong? I thought being pregnant and taking that crap was bad. So far, my dp is the only one who has said well done, you are doing great.

sorry for the rant esp as have been off for ages..

divastrop · 07/04/2007 21:36

spongecake-rant away!!IME people think they can tell you how to bring up your children untill you have had more than them, then they start saying 'i dont know how you cope with 2/3/4/5,i find one hard enough'implying that you are irresponsible for having more children than them

what tablets are you on?

the worst thing is when people ask 'is s/he good?' about a small baby.i feel like saying 'no,shes going to be on trial for bank robbery and possesion of class A drugs next week'.i mean, how can a baby who wont have even the slightest concept of right and wrong for at least another year actually be 'good' or 'bad'?

eidsvold · 08/04/2007 00:59

rant away spongecake.

Lunar - fine to express some so that Toby can latch on. When I found myself in that position - I expressed from that boob and fed from the other a few times and that seemed to even it out iyswim.

Have not been wearing a bra at night but woke up the other night in a large wet patch - and so am going to buy a night bra - from australian breastfeeding assocation - kind of like a crop top but very soft - enough support to keep breast pads in but comfy for sleeping. Hate sleeping in a bra.

not much else here - dd3 seems to have a big feed around 10ish and then we get a few hours sleep - 3 - 4 hours which is fab before she wants another feed.

off to my aunt's for easter brunch - she does a fab spread and easter egg hunt and easter egg pinatas for the dds. Very spoilt we are

TheBlonde · 08/04/2007 07:02

Hi everyone

Have skimmed the messages...
Been offline as staying with my folks this week

Spongecake - once you have a baby everyone has an opinion, last week the shop assistant in the chemist told me my baby was crying because breastmilk isn't enough for some babies
Over time you learn to ignore them all

On the bra front I wear soft crop top style things. Not v supportive but holds the breastpads in place. Anita maternity and sloggi from figleaves.com

Baby is over 2 weeks now. Still nameless
DH is sleeping through all crying/noise as usual
Breastfeeding is going okay at the moment, haven't had the baby weighed but reckon she must be gaining weight as we are getting through 10 nappies a day

muppethasakitten · 08/04/2007 10:05

Diva - pmsl at the "is s/he good?" comment! That's SO true... must have heard it a hundred times already

Sponge - moan away! Sorry to hear your feeling down... I'm up and down like a yo-yo so can understand it all. I hate having to wear maternity jeans still - am prolly about a stone over what i normally am... and like Diva said earlier i think... won't feel happy til i'm back in my size 10 stuff. Plus i'm bfeeding so none of my size 10 tops fit - am having to get a load of 14 stuff as boobs have gone from non-existant to 36D (that's MAHOOSIVE for me)!

Would also second the wear a sports style bra at night (I also sleep on a towel )

DollyPopsOut · 08/04/2007 10:20

Happy easter girls

Sorry have been very limited in MN time the last few days and have been on AN thread with my poor birth buddy who STILL hasn't had her baby! Mossy is being induced on Tues (at +14) so she will have her bundle in the next few days. Kitty and Runninggal may be underway today! That's all of us left I think.

We are all well now, but DD1 and I have been poorly this week, DD2 on a feedathon and DH holdling the fort!

Norkage - I bring new meaning to the word MAHOOSIVE. I am 34H normally, and I reckon now that 34 J would be about the correct size. Will need guy ropes to steady them at this rate.

Have a great Easter and I'll try to catch up properly soon XXXXX

muppethasakitten · 08/04/2007 10:41

Dolly where the hell do you buy your bras???

Piffle · 08/04/2007 14:11

Dolly I'm a 34 G at the moment... bravissimo for me
I'm quite decent sized normally at E cup but this is madness
Dp weighed them well weighed me while taking the weight of the boobs in his hands
4.5 kgs we reckon
I sur hope they subside after bf has finished.
REally struggling with feeding the mF (mighty Finn)
Have fast let down, good supply, he feeds frequently, never seemingly satisified, then has massive pukes 2-3 x a day.
I'm trying to find a way to hold him 2 hrs minimum between feeds for all but the night time clusterfeeding whoch he manages quite well.
I am block nursing him on one side for 2-3 hrs at a time with little difference.

it's so stressful I am glad dp is here cos otherwise nothing would be getting done.

divastrop · 08/04/2007 16:17

Elsie will be a month old tomorrow,i have ff from birth ,and im still a 34ff bra.im actually bigger now than when i was preg.

muppet-im a size 14 all over atm .i dont know whyit bothers me so much, after i had dd1 i was a 16 then went up to a 20 when i went on the contraceptive injection.i lost loads of weight when i split up with xp,but i was never smaller than a 12 till after i had ds2.i went right down to a size 8 at one point, and now ive been there anything over a 10 feels too fat to me.

morocco · 08/04/2007 16:19

ouch piffle! disgusting though it is, I get blackheads down south, gross!
theblonde - what names have you thought of so far?
lunar - congrats!
feeling much better now last day of antibiotics and emily is lovely as always.
happy easter all

muppethasakitten · 08/04/2007 16:32

Struggling to imagine what it must be like with bra sizes you girls are mentioning!!! - apart from struggling to fit into your tops it must bloody hurt your back... god having kids takes it out of your body doesn't it!

Piffle · 08/04/2007 16:52

I'm planning a reduction when I'm done bf in about 18 mths or beyond...
I'm a size 8-10 naturally and I hate them, except when bf of course, when they come in useful, well if Finns weight gain is any way to judge them that is...

divastrop · 08/04/2007 16:57

before i got preg with Elsie,i was a 32dd,which was a nice size and looked great in a bra,but they were hanging skin-flaps out of one.i wouldnt want them made smaller but i wouldnt mind a 'lift'...and a tummy tuck, fanny tuck and whatever else is available to make me look half decent

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 08/04/2007 19:52

hiya - quick hijack...do you think any of you could add your support here? many thanks

Jaysecond · 08/04/2007 22:08

Hey ladies Kittys had her number 6!!

foxcub · 08/04/2007 22:53

I'd love a tummy tuck!!

Piffle - what are "cluster feeding" and "block feeding"? Hate to think there is anything I haven't tried

Went to my bookclub today and it felt so wierd being with grown ups after being babymooning for a month - Monti was great and very contented watching everyone

If anyone hasn't spotted on other thread - Kitty has given birth to Ronnie!!!

Monti is on 3 hourly feeds during day and four hourly at night atm

foxcub · 08/04/2007 22:54

oops x posts Jay

spongecake · 09/04/2007 09:55

thx for the positive posts. my mil is full of "advice" -even elbowed me out of the way on a visit to finish changing my baby. i handled it really well- burst into tears and sobbed "what are u doing to my baby.." in front of dp, fil etc.

diva, am on antibiotics as my uterus won't go down/stop bleeding. been a month since my c section, when will it stop? also am still v weak due to all blood lost -sorry tmi- so not allowed to do anything(

foxcub · 09/04/2007 11:38

sponge - sorry you are having such a hard time

divastrop · 09/04/2007 12:12

sponge-you did handle it very well,i would have punched her round the head and told her to get the f**k out!

is your dp supportive of you or his mother in those situations?

fox-you featured in my strange dream last night.we were in hospital but i dont know why, neither of us were ill and our babies were fine.i was wheeling Elsie round in a laundry basket for some reason.'the darkness' were putting a charity concert on in the main hall (it was an old hospital)and we went to see it,then we managed to gatecrash the after show party.

im a freaky nutcase

foxcub · 09/04/2007 12:21

Diva - you were probably having mega fantasies about being able to go out and listen to music again!!

Go to a concert? "In my dreams!"

Monti and Elsi were enjoying it I hope

Strangely I only ever dream about DD - I have loads of dreams about her but never dream about anyone else in the family. She always seems very vulnerable in my dreams and I wake up all worried about her.
