Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

think I'm over my babymooning, Fox - infact I'm wondering whether someone has switched my baby!! Sorry to moan but I am having a 'mare here. She just won't settle and seems to be constantly comfort feeding. My breasts ache from letting down when she cries and her crying is something else... it's heartbreaking. She goes all red in the face, arches her back, and there are even real tears. I am exhausted. I made up a 4oz bottle earlier and she guzzled it down.

I get confused each time you ladies mention AB's... this kiwi lass always mistakes it for ALL BLACKS. But glad that they are working for you Muppet.

Bless, Dolly!! I am delighted that you are enjoying your babe. Can't wait to hear more when you are up to it.

I bet your workmates totally loved their visit with you and Jori, Callie!! What a treat.

muppethasakitten · 22/03/2007 12:42

I wouldn't say no to a couple of All Blacks bella! And i know what you mean about little one not settling. I've had a couple of days/nights like that now with Samuel - I think it's wind with him - he arches his back and pulls his knees up etc. He wants to comfort feed to make himself feel better but that just makes it worse as more stuff piles in - we've had a few green nappies although that seems better now... 'just keep swimming' as i like to continually say to myself... (my favourite line from "Finding Nemo")!!

kiwibella · 22/03/2007 12:47

I remember you saying that earlier - and I need to keep reminding myself of it!! Kate doesn't poo regularly but yesterday she really, really did one. I'm wondering if it didn't empty her out .

kiwibella · 22/03/2007 12:49

pmsl @ the thought of a couple of stocky All Blacks moving your mastitis!!! That's a picture .

divastrop · 22/03/2007 17:32

dolly-congrats

kiwi-could it be colic?have you tried a dummy or are you against them(i know there are alot of different opinions on them).

re conjunctivitis-dd2 had it till she was 6 months old and had every type of drops/ab's going but it just cleared up on its own in the end.alot of people told me about the breast milk thing but mine had dried up by then and i couldnt really ask somebody for some breast milk....

ive ahd a sore throat for 3 days and have felt like crap.Elsie has a cold and will only drink 2oz of milk at a time cos shes so bunged up.im also turning into a paranoid freak as its bringing it all back to me what dd2 went through at the same age.

the night before last my lochia, which had slowed to an off and on,end of period type flow, returned with a dark red vengence accompanied by period-type cramps.i went to the doctor today and she's pretty sure i have an infection so ive got AB's that i have to take for 10 days and if it doesne clear up i have to go for a scan.
im not happy cos i really want to get my IUS fitted ASAP so i can start 'excercising' again!!!!

hope everybody and the little people are all ok x

divastrop · 22/03/2007 17:33

doesne clear up?i didnt know i was scottish

foxcub · 22/03/2007 21:18

Diva - you poor thing - hope its not an infection in utero but best to have the Abs isn't it? Hopefully the ABs will stop your thraot becoming infected too. I've had the sore throat thing - lasted about 4 days - bloody awful each time I swallowed. My mouth is now sore from guzzling so many Lockets!! You sound quite run down (I'm run down too).

Hi everyone else.

Monti is being ultra cute today

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 23/03/2007 07:47

Piffle had her baby

LunarSea · 23/03/2007 09:27

Hey Amie - get yourself over to this thread too. And maybe even this one - although I can't guarantee I'll be able to drive there by the end of April so can't promise a lift.

Leoladyofleisure · 23/03/2007 12:03

Muppets, i'm trying the exercises. I have a book by Julie Tupler - Lose your mummy tummy she says to do the same thing. This time I'm also going to do post natal exercise classes - I am absolutely going to hate it but...!

Thanks Fox , not enough sleep (1 1/2 hour stretches usually) but I know I'm not hte only one and it could be worse with one baby! Trying to get them into the same sleep-wake pattern, I guess it will come eventually .

Kiwi - its probably a growth spurt. Try to use a dummy to get her to hold out a bit longer, that way she will have bigger feeds when she does - at least that is what I have done with T & L and it made the growth spurt easier.... reading further on, ds used to have problems pooing and but if I drunk apple juice he would poo regularly.

Diva, hope the sorethroat doesn't develop and the infection clears up....

.... aaaagh, gotto run!

Lastly, my mum arrives today and my sister leaves tomorrow !

kiwibella · 23/03/2007 13:27

poor Fox and Diva with your bugs!! Hope that things clear up soon.

Diva - very impressed that you are even thinking about "exercising". I am guessing that the speech marks means it is not the same sort of exercising that Muppet and Leo are talking about .

Thanks Leo - I suspect this is a growth spurt but that was what the HV said when I talked about whatever was going on last week (can't remember now). I don't want everything put down to that! I agree with whoever was talking about the lost art of becoming a mummy (it might have been on the other thread because I can't find it here atm). Friends offer lots of support but none of us really know what we are doing. I would love to know where I am supposed to go for help because the weekly phonecall from HV isn't enough.

Kate took about four goes to go down this morning. I got the bottle out on the second time up and fed it to her the third. She's been asleep for a wee while now and I've soaked in the bath. I feel a new woman .

I'm going to try the apple juice too - funnily enough I bought some in the shopping this week but haven't really felt like it! Anything is worth a go.

Newest member alert
Me and little Finn
So far so good, 24 hrs on that is!
Hope to participate a little more.
But basically, he is doing great, feeding with some mad enthusiasm, we already had our first exploding poo too.
He is a very alert and settled baby, loves his cuddles, boobs and is looking around with a very amused look in his eyes.

I'm fine, better than I should be on the lack of sleep front but baby bliss carries you through the first 48 hrs I think.

Right must dash

foxcub · 23/03/2007 18:20

Congrats Piffle

Leo - agree about using the dummy to stretch the space between feeds. Monti just likes to suck.

The upside of my mastitis last week is that Monti has to have Daktarin oral gel (chocolate orange flavour) which he loves spread on his dummy

Felt better today than I have for ages. Was able to nap this morning for 2 hours (bliss) with Monti tuvked up in the ned with me (mega cutey blisss)

CallieNewMum · 23/03/2007 22:17

Hi girls

Congrats again to the new arrivals. I've posted on AN too.

Guess what - I went out last night!!!! Friends of mine are raising money for charity to do the London marathon and had organised a curry night and quiz in a restaurant, so i was out for four hours at that. It was weird at first and I was quite anxious, but then enjoyed it when the quiz started - and I won a lunch out for two in the raffle - result!

Jordi just wouldn't settle after I'd fed him late afternoon/early evening today, kept crying everytime I tried to put him down or even when I didn't and was still making rooting movements so despite my ongoing overfeeding worries I gave in in the end and gave him more food - slept like the proverbial baby after... thank god so I could finally get myself some food as DP away again for the night. I should be in the kitchen cleaning up the bomb zone-like conditions in there as I'd planned to, but that was before LO's shenanigans. Now I think it will be limited to cleaning enough bottles for the night and bugger it until the morning.

My pram saga is continuing. I ordered one on appro from Mothercare online because i could take it back to the local store if I didn't like it - after assembling it and trying it out, decided it was too heavy and big for the car, so finally got round to taking it back today. So back to the drawing board. I think he'll be walking before I make up my mind. My back is getting good exercise from the sling, not that I mind at the moment. I think I prefer having him close to me while he's small.

Callie - wow can't believe you went out!! [impressed emoticon]. Did you feel as though one of your limbs was missing, without Jordi?

IKWYM about chossing buggies; we spent longer chossing buggies than we did choosing our car! There are just too many to choose from aren't there?

foxcub · 24/03/2007 11:26

Sazzy - just read your message on the cracked nipple thread - Big [hugs] to you - hope things are improving.

CallieNewMum · 24/03/2007 14:44

Foxy, don't forget I've got a bit of a head start on you girls. I think Jordi is making me pay now though - last night I went to bed after I'd fed him at 12ish, so was in bed by 1.20ish, he woke at 3, fed him, changed nappy, then he decided to download into that one - changed nappy again, then he would not go back to sleep, eventually gave him more food and he finally dropped off just after 6 - this was all on 1.5hours sleep!!! Then he woke at 7.20... Thank god he went back to sleep from about 8 to 10.30-11ish so I have had about 5-6 hours sleep - I think. Am now going to attempt to leave the house with him for the first time since Wed...

Hello, hope everyone is having a good weekend

I have just convinced DH to go out to the store to buy food. He seems to think paternity leave = holiday for him and I caught him playing computer games this morning!!

All is okay here. Baby just seems to sleep all the time and I'm having to wake her for feeds which is slightly concerning although I shouldn't complain

Still no name - might start a thread for some ideas

foxcub · 24/03/2007 18:23

TheBlonde = IKWYM about paternity leave - my Dh had the same idea!!

I need a middle name for Monti so may also do a poll!!

Let us know what names you are thinking of - I found it really useful to get feedback on names. Sometimes I can't see the wood for the trees...

Callie - I like your term "downloaded into his nappy!!"

foxcub · 24/03/2007 18:25

ps theBlonde - Monti sleeps all the time too and I worry he doesn't feed enough, but he seems to be doing wees and occasional poos so all is probably OK. Its worrying though - specially as you're on tenderhooks all the time waiting for them to wake and cry and then they sleep for hours on end LOL!!

Piffle · 24/03/2007 21:28

well my little guy has mastered the art of a 2-3 hr nap so I'm sitting here watching my boobs swell up waiting for Finn to awaken !
his feeding is awesome, feeding lots and for ages, the connking out for a good snooze.
m/w reckons he won't have dropped from birthweight, so will be interesting to see.

My tum is bad, it really took a hammering it feels like it's going to fall through when I bend and my back aches from trying to support it.
I'm not doing an awful lot just the odd loading of wsshing, tidying vaguely
Dp soing all the other stuff, so not sure why it feels so weak.
probably just too damn old!

Right off to feed the lil guy again.
hope to make it back here again soon!

Jaysecond · 24/03/2007 23:48

just wanted to at least say hi on the postnatal thread......havnt had a minute to myself since Jensen was born. You forget how totally consuming new babies are! Anyway hope everyone is well, things here are good, although i am running on empty re lack of sleep.... will i ever go to bed and be able to sleep through!!!?

Hugs to everyone xxxxxx

eidsvold · 25/03/2007 05:44

TheBlonde · 25/03/2007 06:59

Congrats Eidsvold

I spoke too soon about the sleeping baby - I got to sleep between 11 and 1am, then she was awake and either yelling or feeding
Finally just got her to sleep and am now up with the 2 year old

DH? yes he slept through it all and is still sleeping
