Mabel - where is that thread? Would love to see.

compo · 01/03/2007 12:04

Well done on ther sleeping through Myrtle Bet you feel like a new woman today!
My experience of nursery is the same as Cori's - ds went in at 5 months and loves it, asks to go on days when we're at home too!
I think I'll watch the programme on Monday night. See what they say about Mumsnet on there too. Can't beleive all the fracas that has been caused.

compo · 01/03/2007 12:07

Oh yes, forgot to say, I thought dd had rolled over completely (she usually gets one arm stuck) yesterday until I caught ds pushing her over the rest of the way yesterday

clairemow · 01/03/2007 13:32

Myrtle, well done LO on the sleeping through. You must be so pleased! Long may it last.

I don't think I will watch the programme. Think I'll find it annoying... I have used the book quite a lot, and find it really useful for how much sleep to aim for, and feed times, so both my boys have been G-babies, and both are really happy, sleep well, smile a lot and are very relaxed. I just think it might be unfortunate how some of the book is "phrased" shall I say..! Nuff said, we're not meant to discuss it...! .

I didn't see the post/ante natal thread - thing is that on these threads people do get to know eachother more than on the average thread - some of us have now been corresponding for a year or so regularly, so it's bound to be a bit of a haven if things are tough on other threads.

On rolling, DS2 can roll from front to back, and back to front, but only naked! Definitely not in massive kushie nappies..!

oh dear, what a day. F has a bug or has eaten something that's upset him. Threw up milk this pm, threw up mid afternoon, threw up the small tea we tried, threw up after while watching TV, threw up milk, then threw up in cot then on my shoulder while I moved him to change sheets. Bit worried really, will ring doc if no better tomorrow morning.

God, I hate sick, feel really nervous in case we all get it (esp DS1, as his sick would be all grown up and probably not in the loo...). Wish us luck tonight...

OP posts:
compo · 01/03/2007 19:24

oh no sending lots of good luck vibes your way.
Ds has got chciken pox and we're really hoping dd doesn't get it as ds has it really badly, poor thing.

clairemow · 01/03/2007 19:25

compo. fingers crossed for us both that the infections don't spread... F is fast asleep at the moment, monitor on full blast. Figure sleep is the best cure...

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 01/03/2007 19:32

Poor F clairemow.. Fingers crossed it passes soon & without infecting you all.

compo, poor DS! DD had chickenpox 3.5 months ago & sadly infected DS when he was just 3 months not even. However, some friends of ours, their DD1 caught it & never gave it to DD2...so fingers crossed for you too

Wish me luck...we took DD's nighttime nappy off tonight....! 98% of them have been totally dry for the past 6 weeks or so so I decided to give it a crack before gong back to work...might live to regret!!!

nally · 01/03/2007 20:44

Please can someone tell me what time/channel the programme is on on Monday? The ad says five Life. That's not channel 5 though is it, because I can't see it listed for Monday. Please call me dim if I am being so.... ta x

gingerninja · 01/03/2007 21:21

Hello

Can I join in please? you all sound like very nice people and a few of you I know from my lengthy internship on 'sleep is for the Weak' thread.

My DD was born on 7th Sept and in the last couple of days has discovered rolling onto her stomach. She wasn't interested in rolling anywhere, a half hearted sideways roll at the most, until 2 days ago and now shes rolled over within about 3 seconds of being laid on her back everytime I put her down. Trouble is she hates being on her stomach so rolls and then moans until I roll her back. We then repeat that trick until I've had enough and put her in her bouncer or something.

Just reading through a bit of the old thread I noticed the conversation about the weaning thread that someone had been murdered on. I read that at the time and am with you guys. They're a scary bunch those BLWers and are bloody rude most of the time. (Personally I get really annoyed that they have pushed themselves into such positions of authority on the subject.) I'm currently offering DD finger foods as she's flattly refussing a spoon anywhere near her mouth and frankly I'm already bored of trying to get her to eat before I've even started so this seems like the least labour intensive way of doing it.

PS I do waffle so please tell me to shut up.

DH thinks I already spend too much time on mn and now I've found another nice thread.

clairemow · 01/03/2007 21:23

sorry nally, not sure!

Cori, hope your morning is dry, so to speak...! I had a conversation with DS1 about this the other day, but he got all tearful and said "but Mummy the poo will get all over the sheets and the covers". Well, yes, but if you'd stop doing your daily poo at 6 am, then it wouldn't, would it?! But I'm darned if I'm getting up that early to catch it..

Poor old Fraser isn't very well, woke up screaming about 20 mins ago and dry retching. Went back to sleep very quickly in DH's arms though, and all quiet again now. Going to bed now, as I fear we're in for a night of it...

Won't be doing my RL MNetters meet up...

Claire - poor Fraser, I hope he gets better soon.
Ginger - Hello! How is your LO sleeping now? DS slept through, the night before last! I felt like a new woman yesterday. Unfortunately he was up at 4am last night. I heard him grumbling at 6 but he went back off to sleep so I'm really pleased that he at least seems to be sending himself back off to sleep now when he wakes sometimes.
He is off for another settling in session today at nursery so DH has taken the afternoon off and we're going off for lunch while he spends a few hours at nursery.

gingerninja · 02/03/2007 09:04

erm, she's still not sleeping. It's getting rather tiresome (no pun intended) next week we're trying her in her own room tho. I suspect I'll just be up and down more!

Coriander73 · 02/03/2007 09:53

Welcome gingerninja!

Clairemow, how's F doing today? Compo, DD?

Well......we had one try little girl this morning!!!!! Yippeeee......(obviously could be beginners luck etc but I'm so proud of her.. )

clairemow · 02/03/2007 09:59

Congratulations!! How fabulous!

Fraser seems much better this morning, thanks. During the night he woke up screaming a couple of times, but took some water and settled back down without throwing up. He kept his milk down this morning and a little breakfast - he was sooo hungry bless him. So hopefully we're out the other side. He's knackered so been asleep a good hour now, and no sign of waking yet... Now just got to get past this afternoon/evening to be sure we aren't all going to get it...

Coriander73 · 02/03/2007 10:07

That's good..hopefully it's just a 24 hr thing? The children's nursery has been beset with sickness bugs for the past 3 weeks...I'm hoping they don't pick anything up again.

This morning I went for 2nd gym session! I had a really nice guy who gave me some personal training (I need to be bullied into it otherwise I just don't get anywhere walking at a tortoise pace on the treadmill!!) 10 months after I had DD. I kept his number as he's changed gyms & well, as much I hate it (he made me cry on numerous occasions!) I've booked 12 sessions to tie in just before I go back to work. To say my abs are shot is an understatement...they're killing me!!

compo · 02/03/2007 16:09

Wow I'm in awe of anyoje who is managing to do any exercise! All I do is lots of walking but it doesn't help tone up anything....
Thanks for asking after dd. She hasn't got it yet but I've heard it can take up to 2 weeks to come out. Ds' spots are starting to heal a bit so I guess the infectious stage is over thank goodness as I was getting a bit sick of only being able to take him to the park... I need a shopping fix

mabel1973 · 02/03/2007 20:29

am back from london, had a lovely time, bu if i see one more bloody bugaboo pram i will scream!
Claire, sorry to hear about he sickness bug and compo, sorry about the chicken pox.
Welcome gingerninja!
Sorry i didn't see your posts about that thread, as I'd already left....it wasn't worth wasting your time on it, i think it was aimed mainly at ours and the the october thread (I think they've been 'naughty' too, slapped wrists all round!)
Bought DS1 the most gorgeous babygro at a shop called 'green baby', it has little carrots, peas, cherries, strawberries all over it and made from organic cotton...so cute!

bristols · 02/03/2007 21:03

Hello Ladies and welcome to new people. Have been 'lurking' for the past week. Been so poorly, first with tonsillitis then an ear infection. Feeling better now but one ear remains completely blocked. All's good with DS. He is sitting and rolling and enjoying weaning. has taken to it like a duck to water.

Claire and Compo, hope your households are getting better too.

Nally - the programme is on Five Life which is on Sky. Its on Monday at 9pm. Its going to be difficult not to discuss it on here afterwards!

Got a busy weekend as my sister and her dp are due to arrive any minute. The good news is that they're going to look after DS so that DH and I can go to the cinema tomorrow afternoon. What a treat.

Promise to try and keep more up to date now that I'm back on form. Have a good night all...

kseaj · 02/03/2007 21:11

hi everyone,

Still not getting round to posting much, its hard to catch up with you all.

hi Kaishay and gingerninja.

claire hope ds is better.

cori well done on the nighttime nappy its so much easier once thats out of the way.

Ds is unwell at the moment with a very bad cough, you can hear his chest rattle when he breathes, he is been sick alot and his cheecks are very red, but he still remains a very happy baby and is still feeding well.

Dd is having her 5th birthday party next weekend, so lots to sort out this week i told her she could have 10 friends we have ended up with 20, yes i am a soft mum.

My auntie has now come out of hostpital so at least the evenings are not such a rush anymore.

Anyone know how cruise is getting on been a while since she last posted.

fairysnuff · 03/03/2007 22:41

Hi all and welcome. also to new peebs

I am in shock!
DH has spent the day fixing up and cleaning our car to sell and he has just looked out to see that someone has thrown dirt over the back!!

Happened some time between 8-10.
Can't believe it! I know this is not the best of areas in our county but, as a whole it is great. So V sad that this has happened.

I have an incling (sp?) that I know who did it.
I caught a youngster throwing stones at public property months back and (without even thinking of the reprecusions) gave him a wee telling off, only to be greeted by a mouthful of abuse I told him that that was big talk for a wee man and that I knew his face and would be looking for him if anything further happened. I totally regretted it afterwards, but the words were out before I could stop them.
I did a bit of searching and discovered he comes from a troubled home
Everytime I see him now, he eyeballs me. As if trying to figure out if I remember him. I always just look back (not exactly blankly, but not aggressivly), I will not be intimidated by an 8 year old!
We saw him today, and I brought DH's attention to him, I thought quietly but DH spun round and Stared!!
Now this happens. I don't think the two are unconnected, but I don't think there is anything I can do, I can't prove a thing and I have been warned that to approach the parents would be a V bad move.

Sorry for long post, I just wanted to talk calmly about it, as DH is raging. Well, actually he is doing quite well, considering. The mud managed to make a couple of new chips too. So a few curses are quite controlled for him under these circumstances
Rotten little.....esp as we are trying to sell it.

Coriander73 · 04/03/2007 15:03

Sorry about that Fairysnuff

What a miserable day..constant rain & wind. Have been trying to book a summer holiday but we're not getting anywhere as we can't agree where to go ( I like Spain, Portugal etc, he likes France!)& the children keep on interrupting!! Just feel pretty desperate when the weather is like it is & wish I was a million miles away in the carribean or something...yeah, right, what planet am I on?!!

Re DD & nappyless nights..well 2 out of 3 thus far aint bad I suppose?!! I did wonder whether I'd bitten off more than I can chew when on Sat morning at 4am she cried out from a soaked bed...

clairemow · 04/03/2007 19:33

Cori, I think 2/3 is pretty damn good! Just think, you could be up and down 2 or 3 times a night...

Well, it's been one hell of a few days. F is over his tummy upset now, but still not drinking as much as normal, and refusing most solids offered. But he did sleep all night last night, which was a relief. DS1 doesn't seem to have been affected yet, but I was badly sick this morning, and DH has been feeling off too all day. And to top it all off, DH is off on a work trip tomorrow am at 5, and not back til Wednesday night. Pray that DS1 doesn't get it for me please - not sure how I'd cope with vomit again this week.
