Don't think we have a thread yet so here we are!

Ds arrived here 18/10 @ 5am one day before due date

Just been swaying round the living room crying alongside DS2, who has given me his cold and neither of us feel great. Some nights just suck....

Afreshstartplease · 29/11/2016 09:24

Flowers to those suffering

Ds usually wakes once in the night but then stays awake for ages

Last night he fed at 8. Was asleep for 9 until 2 then awake til 430, then slept 430-730

Fed at 730. Asleep for 830 still asleep now

taffeta that sounds like a rough night Flowers

I have just managed to get breastfeeding sorted out and now DS is ebf (I was topping up after every feed). BUT he sleeps far less at night because of it!!

I wanted to breastfeed in the day and bottle feed at night, but was told that would affect my supply 😭

Anyone else managing to combi feed (bottles at night breast in the day) successfully?

Afreshstartplease · 29/11/2016 10:03

Ds is just formula fed reading this thread I think I made the right choice for me as breastfeeding sounds so hard and don't think I could manage that and 3 other dc

Cake for all my fellow sufferers. DS has developed a cold too.

Fresh I'm ff too, and I'm so glad I did. DS is feeding 5-6 ounces every five hours. But his unsettled time is between 11 and 1. Then awake at 3 for milk, and an hour or so to get his wind up.

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 29/11/2016 15:32

Just had a huge meltdown when I saw that DS2 had one of my hairs tightly wound around two of his toes. Remember reading that this can cause all sorts of horrible issues and took me ages to get it off. Cue panicky weeping call to my mum. Not entirely sure I got it all so going to the docs this evening. I feel so guilty Sad

I'm EBF and the fussy cluster feeding drives me mad - tried to give her formula one night to save my sanity and she is refusing the bottle! I thought maybe she just didn't want formula but tried with expressed milk and she doesn't want that either!

Omg taffeta I'm so scared of that I'm going to check once DD wakes up. Esp since my hair seems to be shedding and I've got my hair bloody everywhere! I hope it is all ok.

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 29/11/2016 18:43

All ok, no more hair (and tempted to shave all mine off!). It was just so embedded that I couldn't tell.

Not sure whether to hit the wine or the chocolate.....

LillianFullStop · 29/11/2016 22:04

Glad it's all ok taffeta! I'd go the chocolates!

Afreshstartplease · 30/11/2016 11:07

Is that five hours day and night derry?

We only go 3 hours between feeds during the day. Sometimes 2 and a half. Taking 5-6 oz a feed

OP posts:
derryjojo · 30/11/2016 13:33

Fresh every 4 hours during the day. Last night he took nearly 7 ounces at 11. Was sleeping by 11.30 and that was him until 6.30 this morning when he took another 7 ounces. He hadn't been sleeping well though the few nights pervious because he had a cold, so poor love was probably knackered

Nickname1980 · 30/11/2016 17:40

derry - wow! How old is he? That sleep is amazing!

Kariana · 30/11/2016 19:50

Derry that's an amazing sleep! We had some great sleeps after ds had his cold but sadly it didn't last! They were never as good as that though.

derryjojo · 30/11/2016 23:11

He was 4 weeks on Monday. I'm hoping last nights sleep wasn't a one off because of the tiredness of not sleeping with the cold.

LillianFullStop · 01/12/2016 00:04

Wow derry that's amazing! My LO is 5 weeks and he's managed one 5 hour sleep and only after an epic marathon cluster feed evening but mostly we are still on 3 hour blocks.

Afreshstartplease · 01/12/2016 10:50

We managed 7 hours last night! Ds was 6 weeks on Tuesday

Kariana · 01/12/2016 17:14

Wow Fresh! Ds was 7 weeks on Monday and only does 3 hour blocks. How much does you ds weigh now? I'm wondering if it's more linked to weight than age.

Kariana · 01/12/2016 21:43

I have just discovered that I may be developing an infection in my cs scar. How is this happening seven and a half weeks after the event! I thought I was past that being an issue.

Also ds has started to clamp down on my nipple with his gums when my milk flow peeters out. First time he did it today I yelped so loud he jumped out his little skin. He's just done it again now. I hope it's not going to become a habit.

Afreshstartplease · 04/12/2016 09:20

Hope your not suffering with infection kariana!

Ds still hasn't been weighed as Hv cancelled on us. Should be this week if not I'll take him to the clinic as I'm curious!

Funny question but... how often do your babies poop?

DS does about once every five or six days. I read that's normal for breastfed babies but he is mixed fed. Probably more breast than bottle but definitely mixed! And he seems so uncomfortable by the last day or so before he poops!

Afreshstartplease · 06/12/2016 11:01

Ds is formula fed and goes 2-5 days between poos

OP posts:
Nickname1980 · 06/12/2016 15:47

Thanks, fresh! That makes me feel better!

I think I'm having an overthinking day today but... when did your babies smile / give back? DS is 6 weeks and had only one or two vague passing smiles. He's still just an eat/ sleep machine really. I'm sure my other DC were smiling / interacting more at this stage Confused

Afreshstartplease · 06/12/2016 16:31

Nickname, ds is 7 weeks and still not very smiley. Looking at photos of older DC by 8 weeks they were all quite smiley. Hv asked me if he chuckles! Err no! I think that's expecting a bit much!

OP posts:
TaffetaMuttonfudge · 06/12/2016 16:52

Nickname - DS2 poos about every 2 days, sometimes he'll do a few on the same day (a slightly firmer one followed by an explosion which will result in a change of clothes usually!).

He's smiling now, 8 weeks yesterday and I can usually get him to smile by tickling his chin and gently tapping his nose. The smiles make it all worth it.

And we had 6 hours of sleep last night from midnight to 6am!! Pretty sure it was a fluke but I live in hope. So damn tired I could sleep on the central reservation of the M25 right now.

Kariana · 06/12/2016 19:46

Nickname 6 weeks was about the point ds really started to notice the world but I would say he didn't really interact with us until after 7 weeks. He smiled around the same time so the two things seemed to go hand in hand. Now at 8 weeks I can usually get him to smile about half the times I try.

Ds gets distressed if he doesn't do a poo everyday. Yesterday he didn't do one and it was awful. I think ideally he would like to do two a day but he never manages it.
