Oh no marmite poor you! You're an expert breastfeeder so I won't patronise you with advice, but take care of yourself and feed feed feed!!!

I've just changed a poo nappy without waking up the baby from her nap. I think I've hit pro level babying Grin

Wow Swear that's seriously impressive!

Hope the mastitis clears soon marmite, sounds horrible.

Got one of my last baby classes with DS today, everything stops for Christmas and then I'm back to work in Jan. I've met some lovely people at this one and tbh we're unlikely to stay in touch once I'm back at work - there'll be too many other priorities at weekends to meet up with casual acquaintances - but it's been lovely while it lasted.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 13/12/2016 16:51

thanks all, I'm feeling a lot better today. basically spent all of yesterday in bed and DH brought DD2 to me to feed every couple of hours. That plus antibiotics mean I'm feeling back to normal now, although my boob is still a bit heavy and tender. I think I've cleared the blockage though, had a nice long shower yesterday and expressed. didn't get my DH to have a try haha, though I think he would have liked a chance!

Only three days left of work till I have two weeks off for Christmas, yay! And tomorrow afternoon is my works Christmas meal so basically only have two and a half days left of actual work Grin I need to get on with my christmas shopping though Confused got loads of stuff left to get and I do all my shopping online so I really need to get a move on!

DD2 had her first nursery visit today, it was all fine. I am going to be going in to breastfeed her twice a day which is nice as preferable to pumping (though honestly pumping will take less time). She seemed fine there, pretty happy playing with all the toys. I felt sad but at the same time know she will have lots of fun messy play stuff to do there which I don't do with her at home.

DomesticAnarchist · 13/12/2016 18:56

Oh, huge sympathies marmite. Glad to see you're feeling better.

That is next-level parent skills Swear!

Me624 · 14/12/2016 20:06

Today was slightly stressful! I had a client meeting at work at 2 and MIL was looking after DS - her first time looking after him solo. I was in a rush to leave to drop him at hers and I took his lunch but forgot to take a bottle or formula with me for his afternoon bottle. So I suggested she give him a bit of cows milk instead in his beaker (I know it's not supposed to be the main drink before one, but as a one off I thought it would be fine) and I'd be back by 3.30/4 anyway to take him home for his tea. Well, my client was late and didn't turn up until 3, and then the meeting went on way longer than planned ... I didn't leave the offices until almost 5, and traffic was awful so didn't get DS home until nearly 6! He was a bit grizzly bless him, MIL said he didn't really drink any of the cows milk but had some water and a biscuit. He wolfed down his dinner. I just felt so stressed out by being so much later than planned! Doesn't bode well for when I start back full time after Christmas Sad

On the upside, I did enjoy work and using my brain again!

Dottydoodoo · 14/12/2016 23:32

marmite I hope you are feeling better now, and that the nursery visit went well.

swear you have some serious ninja babying skills! I tried that once, I got as far as putting the clean nappy on and then he woke up, and would not go back to sleep!

me oh no that does sound a little stressful! I'm sure when you go back after Christmas you will be absolutely fine, it was probably that it was the first time that your mil had looked after him alone that made it seem so bad. I'm glad you enjoyed work, I think I'll enjoy being back at work my brain seems to have turned to mush!

I think I have just finished my Christmas shopping woop woop! I've ordered so much stuff online this year, I may as well have my own postman. I started to wrap up some of DS's presents earlier and I think I might have gone a little bit ott! Oh well, it's his first Christmas and I want to spoil him! I can't wait for this Christmas, I'm a nurse so have to work part of it every year so it will be really special to have a whole Christmas off. I know DS isn't going to understand but I can't wait to see his little face! Eeeeeeeee!

DS's sensory group is having its Christmas party tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that. DS has got a little elf outfit to wear! I'm feeling a lot better now after my woe is me posts from a couple of days ago, so thank you to everyone who helped me out. I don't think the weather helps, it's been so gloomy and miserable recently. Today was one of those lovely cold crispy days so fingers crossed for some more of those.

Swearwolf · 15/12/2016 09:34

Oof, that does sound stressful me, why did MIL not give him any dinner?! That's my MILs default, I leave my girl with her for too long and come back to find her munching away on whatever was in the cupboard Grin

Well done on the shopping dotty! I need to look through my stash and assess, I don't think I've got enough for the baby.

I've got my tree up finally! I wasn't sure what to do this year as the baby is on the move at last, and the living room is so crammed full of baby crap I had no idea where to put one. So I've gone for a wee four footer and stuck it on a table with various obstacles in the way. Doesn't look terribly elegant as the big one helped! What's everyone else gone for?

Ah swear thats lovely. Mush better idea than our 'just put it up as normal and keep him away from it' ha.
Theres aree no longer any decorations on the bottom third

Swearwolf · 15/12/2016 10:35

Gorgeous tree though Q! I never had this problem with my boy as he's September, so the first year he wasn't mobile yet and the second year he was big enough to understand not to touch! Some friends have a baby the same age and have stuck theirs inside a playpen - genius, but what do you do with the baby while you're cooking/weeing etc?

MrsElls · 15/12/2016 13:05

We've gone for the stick it up and see what happens approach as well. At the moment what happens is that i put all the beads and baubles back on whenever C is asleep. She slept for 2.5 hours this morning then had lunch and milk so she hasn't had time to destroy it today yet!

March 2016 - quick, a new thread!
Dottydoodoo · 15/12/2016 16:13

Lovely trees! My DS isn't crawling yet so our tree is fairly safe, but we stop to look at it every time we go past and DS is particularly fond of a glittery bauble and grabs it every time. He's so forceful I swear one day he will pull the whole tree down, he loves it!

Me624 · 15/12/2016 20:21

Lovely trees! Ours is surviving so far, DS is extremely mobile but we have no decorations near the bottom. He pulls himself up on the nearest chair and tries to grab at the higher decorations but doesn't have much success, the only thing he does grab is the lights! It's a massive tree though so he can't pull it over and a few firm "no"s followed by distracting him with a toy usually works!

The cat on the other hand ... he likes to climb up the stem of the tree in the middle and then sit near the top and bat at the decorations from the inside with his paw.

Swear I have no idea why MIL didn't think to give DS some dinner, toast would have done! I think she worries about giving him the wrong thing and pissing me off! And she isn't familiar with his routines so probably wasn't really aware that it was past his teatime. I was grateful to her for having him for so long and coping with a grizzle guts to be fair! DS has a cold, is teething and was hungry so wasn't at his best!

Dotty bet your DS looked cute in his elf outfit. We have our last baby sensory class tomorrow and it's also a festive one so DS will be wearing his Christmas jumper 😊

Me624 · 17/12/2016 19:07

DS is in bed and I've got my feet up with the Strictly final, yay!

Just thought I'd post as there has been lots of car seat discussion. DH and I realised this morning that we will need a second car seat when I go back to work - there'll be days where I do drop off and he does pick up so won't be able to just transfer the seat between cars like we do now. DS still has plenty of room in his group 0 seat (maxi cosi cabriofix) but he's 9.5kg now so big enough for a group 1 so that's what we've bought. When he grows out of the group 0 we'll just buy a second bigger one.

So I put DH in charge of research as I've found it all very confusing! To be honest I thought a group 123 seat would've been the most cost efficient thing to buy but DH decided to get the Cybex Sirona which is up to age 4/18kg. He said this was the one with the best safety reviews etc. DS is quite a big baby so not sure it'll last him to 4 but never mind.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 17/12/2016 19:09

Lovely trees everyone! We have a crappy small fake tree which we put up on top of a side table in out front room, and no lights so its safe from dd2. She is crawling now at last - although is still very inefficient in it - but not really pulling herself up yet so can't reach it.

9 months old today! And she celebrated by staying up from 12.30-3.30 last night 😱... She has a pretty horrendous cold at the moment. This week has been awful - was still recovering from mastisis on Tuesday when dd1 was sent home from nursery with high temp. She was then ill for two days, keeping dh up all night, then dh caught it and was absolutely useless for two days, and now dd2 has it!

On the plus side i finished my Xmas shopping today! Now have to hope it arrives by Friday as that's when we're off to see my family in Bristol...

Me624 · 17/12/2016 19:10

P.S. Meant to add that I told DH that whatever he chose had to be rear facing! Which the Cybex is - it swivels so we can turn it forward if and when DS looks uncomfortable or dislikes being rear facing too much.

QforCucumber · 17/12/2016 20:01

me thats why weve bought the new one already, ds is still ok in the cabriofix but now i do drop off and dp does pick up we needed 2. Dp also cant keep the seat in his van as he needs the seat for a colleague he picks up so we keep the assixfix in my car, then when i drop ds off i also leave the cabriofix ar nursery which theyre more than happy for us to do.

We've had the sickness bug hit, real life person vomit not just milky baby sick. Hes ok now, i don't want to have to deal with that again in a hurry.

Sorry to hear about the sleeplessness marmite hope tonight offers you some rest.

Dottydoodoo · 18/12/2016 16:10

me he did look very cute in his elf outfit! I think he is going to wear it again on Christmas Eve. I love DS in his Christmas jumper! The swivel car seats are so good aren't they. I've got a Britax dualfix in my car, I chose a swivel one because my car is only a three door and it's so easy to get DS in and out. He looks really comfy in it too. DH has plans to transfer it between cars, but I don't think his car has isofix, not sure, so I've got my eye on another Britax one that is held in with the seatbelt and does front and rear facing in case his car doesn't have the isofix.

marmite that sounds tough, hopefully you got a bit more sleep last night.

Q oh no! I hope your DS is feeling better now and that you don't catch it.

My DS is 9 months old today! Where on earth has the time gone. DS is such a chatterbox at the moment, it's so lovely! He has spent all day telling me about ba ba ba and da da da, ma ma ma and goo goo!! No crawling or cruising yet, he gets about by rolling everywhere but he's really good at standing and can stand and hold the sofa for a couple of seconds on his own. He loves his food and is getting really good with the finger foods and his pincer grip. He is just amazing and I love him so much. Gush gush!

sherazade · 19/12/2016 12:19

Just checking in
Marmite you're a legend going shopping after having been up with the baby through the night . Am I the only one who can't at all function on broken sleep Confused
Ds wasn't too bad last night so I'm sat in costa having a festive mince pie . Ds is asleep in the buggy at last and am wincing cus the people next to me are talking at the tops of their voices and he keeps flinching (they have every right to of course I am being unreasonable I just wish they'd shut up haha )
I'm not going back to work this year for various reasons but I am missing my colleagues and the challenge terribly !

marmiteandcheeseplease · 19/12/2016 14:56

aha sher well I did all my shopping online as I couldn't face going out! Have gotten pretty much everything through the post now, except my dads present which has gone missing Shock not sure what I'm going to do now!

DD2 had a couple more night parties over the weekend but has been better the past couple of nights. However, since she started teething her top two teeth she's been waking up at 10 and refusing to sleep in her cot and I co slept to save my sanity. Now her teeth are through but she is still waking up to come into our bed... [sigh]. I don't mind having her in my bed too much, as she only wakes up once or twice, but I don't really want to commit myself to co sleeping for the foreseeable future Hmm. Not really sure what to do! On the one hand, if it isn't broke, don't fix it and I'm happy with the current situation, but on the other hand, it would be nice to have my bed back. I absolutely won't do cry it out (which wouldn't work anyway with DD2 sharing a room with DD1), so not sure what to do. Me and DH are thinking of trying to get her back in her cot next week when we are both off work, just biting the bullet and putting her back in the cot repeatedly until she accepts it. I expect a lot of protesting and sleepless nights for me and DH though! Kinda dreading it but it needs to be done Confused

DomesticAnarchist · 19/12/2016 16:00

@marmiteandcheeseplease - nothing, just trying the tagging thing!

DomesticAnarchist · 19/12/2016 16:02

Did you get an email? I can't tell if it worked

marmiteandcheeseplease · 19/12/2016 18:58

Nope no email. Whats the tagging thing?

1frenchfoodie · 19/12/2016 21:03

Third night in a row DD has vomited everywhere, she is now sleeping wrapped in a towel as her sleeping bags are damp and any blankets we have are only moses basket size. The last two nights she coughed and coughed and was sick through that but tonight she was feeding and then just projectile vomited all over both of us and then again on the bed when I stood up. Her poos are runny too so wortied she has a bug though no temp and she seems right as rain during the day.

My head is spinning with trying to choose a next size up car sear. We want erf as it is safer and she has no siblings facing forward to envy but with an ability to turn round once she is too tall. The maxi cosi pearl 2 way was coming out on top even at an eye watering £360 or so to age c. 4 - but I looked at so many I have now forgotten why it was coming out above others.

We have dine a bit od co sleeping when DD was ill over the last few weeks marmite but like you, ultimately want our bed back. She is an antisocial wriggler and likes to ladt at 90 degrees between us, pushing us to the very edge so not much fun. All I am doing now is trying to sooth in her own bed and then if she does come to ours being vigilant to her dropping off and transferring.

DomesticAnarchist · 19/12/2016 23:28

There's a thread in Site Stuff about tagging. Thought I'd give it a try.

Sounds rubbish, 1french. Could it be her choking on snot? Hope she's better tomorrow.

MrsElls · 20/12/2016 15:51

Hmm 1French, whenever my ds consistently projectile vomits I always think tonsillitis as he had it loads when he was little. Dd was vomiting a bit ago and doc said that it was just the only way babies can clear mucus. Look in her throat, white spots on the tonsils are telltale signs of tonsillitis. Fingers crossed its nothing sinister this close to Christmas. DD has a rash at the moment, pretty sure its just a viral thing but will be keeping a close eye on it.
