Thanks everyone. D had an apointment at 12.40. My midwife from when I was pregnant with D is leaving and training as a reflexologist. She came over to practice on me. She had a quick look at D and said it's probably viral but I should take him to the Dr just to be certain. Dust be ill cuz he never naps in the day but he's fast asleep in his cot next to his dying dad.

I'm 2 stone over weight and have joined the gym to shift it. I've been getting uonand going at 6.30 to get back for when dh goes to work.

Q I would have cried if dh had woken me up for any reason especially to dtd!!

Trinpy · 07/07/2016 12:23

That sounds positive wooden. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

We had an awful night here. W woke up in the night screaming and wouldn't go back to sleep for ages. Then Ds1 woke up at 6 because his nappy had leaked and his pjs were all wet. Tried desperately to get ds1 back to sleep, by which point W had woken up with all the noise so Dh and I each took a child and tried to doze a bit before it was time to get up. They're both having a nap upstairs now while I collapse on the sofa with a coffee.

I do have my dm fairly close by but I rarely call her for help with the dcs because I always feel guilty for making work for her. But reading how a couple of you use your mil's for childcare as a regular thing makes me wonder if maybe I'm being a bit silly not asking for more support from her.

woodenmouse · 07/07/2016 14:05

D just has a viral infection. He screamed the whole time we were in the waiting room as soon as we saw the Dr he started smiling and laughing. He likes to show me up!

Timetogrowup2016 · 07/07/2016 15:16

Much better night last night
Bed at 9:00. Feed at 12am then awake at 5:10 for the day. Quick nap 7-7:45 am.

Took c to baby group today and she rolled front to back for the first time !

Purpleprickles · 07/07/2016 16:12

Wooden glad it isn't more serious. Hope D gets better soon.

E has been awake all day apart from 3 stints of about 10-15 min naps. She is currently in the garden in her pram talking to a tree. Her eyes are red and practically hanging out. I've been on a massive walk with a friend this morning, rocked her in my arms, rocked her in the bouncy chair, rocked her in the pram and nothing has sent her off. She seems quite calm atm but she needs a nap!!!

Purpleprickles · 07/07/2016 16:13

Time forgot to say well done to C for rolling!

TheMshipIsBack · 07/07/2016 16:20

Aww time that's an amazing night by my standards! And a roll too!

trinpy not a regular thing here with MIL, it's pretty ad hoc, which suits us both. Some weeks we'll see her and FIL for a cuppa once or twice here or at theirs, other weeks they'll take DS up to three afternoons if T's being really ratty. They always volunteer and I was originally hesitant, feeling like I was imposing, but I've relaxed a lot as it's apparent they both love spending time with DS and genuinely want to help me out. They'd take T if she'd let them and I'd gladly do it once she's not quite so glued to me and my boobs! She's cluster feeding today.

Paperblank · 07/07/2016 16:59

Q your DH has got some front waking you up to DTD!

Paperblank · 07/07/2016 17:11

Ooops didn't mean to press post quite so soon Grin

I hope he's learnt his lesson.

TMI but I am planning on jumping my DH's bones this weekend we're going to a wedding and leaving M with my parents (bit Sad and a bit Grin). Aside from a few snatched quickies we've not really swung from the chandeliers since M was born.

wooden glad D is okay, they are little monkeys though when they grin inanely when we tell the Dr that they are under the weather.

Time clever C!!! Watch out there's a rolling baby about.

DH asked me yesterday when M would start crawling.... I said I didn't know and he said "well I think I'll buy a fireguard anyway"...We don't actually have a fire so god knows what he wants a fireguard for. I didn't have the energy to ask why he wants one.

Just waiting for the rain to start. It's like midwinter here in Bucks.

QforCucumber · 07/07/2016 19:28

Dp definitely got told today the under no circumstances is he to wake me up when I have night feeds to do! He realised this and brought me home a terry's chocolate orange by way of a peace offering - he may be forgiven (if he doesn't try to eat a piece)

time sounds like a half decent night, and yay to the rolling!
paper 20 degrees here and glorious sunshine, may pour some wine since dp is doing 'try to get rory to sleep' time.
wooden glad the rash isn't anything serious
purple hope you managed to get some kind of nap!

Purpleprickles · 07/07/2016 20:28

Thanks Q but no nap. She's in bed now and hopefully for the night aside from feeds. Can't believe she pretty much went from 7am with about 30mins sleep. She was so overtired tonight she screamed and screamed and made herself sick Sad

1frenchfoodie · 07/07/2016 21:40

time a roll! And in public too. E got really close today on her activity mat, I found I was holding my breath and egging her on like a horse in the Grand National.

Glad Mr Q has realised the error of his ways. Mr French would be in Serious trouble if he tried that.

trinpy my DM comes for a day once a fortnight, with my nana, so I end up acting as host to both though any excuse for baking tbh. They love to hold E so if I did need to get a bath, paint my nails etc it could be useful.

purple sounds rough. I dont tend to nap during the day but when E naps I get me time (lots of tea and some studying for exams at the end of the year). I know I'd be snappier without it. Hope you get a good night.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 08/07/2016 06:48

Sorry to hear about lack of naps purple, we're going through nap refusal at the moment and it's so frustrating when you know that they need sleep but they just won't bloody sleep!

I've not been doing any specific weight loss plan to shift my weight, just cut out biscuits cakes and chocolate, I allow myself two treats a week but snack in fruit otherwise. And I walk every day, try to eat a smaller portion at dinner (bloody hard) and have been doing the mutu postnatal exercise regime which includes 15 minutes hiit exercise four times a week and core stretches everyday. It's been bloody hard work tbh.

At my mum's house in Bristol now feeling knackered. DH is off on his work trip this morning so came here last night, ended up staying up way later than usual chatting to my mum and step dad, then dd2 had a slightly worse night than usual (11, 3.30, 4.20 and 5.40), I couldn't sleep after the 3.30 wake coz if my awful head cold and only dropped off about five past four. Then dd1 woke at five to six needing to use the potty. Ugh! Usually DH would get up with her and let me lie in as dd2 has gone back to sleep, but I'm by myself now so going to have to get used to it for the next 11 days 😱

Trinpy we are lucky with mil care, as she works four days a week and uses her one day off to look after dd1. She will also do the same when dd2 goes into nursery. We do periodically check with her that she's still happy to do it and she loves it.

TheMshipIsBack · 08/07/2016 09:12

marmite I think our babies were in sync last night - T had pretty much the same wakings. Not a bad night for her, though, we're usually 3-4 wakings at the moment going through the sleep regression. Luckily T still naps ok. She's snoring gently in the sling right now. So cute.

It was sunny yesterday so T and I went to a berry picking farm in the afternoon with DS and MIL. T screamed the whole way there of course, but it was only a 15 minute drive. It was the first time MIL had experienced T in the car and she was horrified. I mean, she knew about it, but it's not the same as hearing it yourself. I've got good at ignoring it to focus on the road, but I still avoid driving whenever possible. We picked loads of strawberries and raspberries to make jam today. DS had a ball - he was so good about not eating the berries before we'd paid, I was really impressed - he did of course eat about half a kilo's worth afterwards ... Grin

TriJo · 08/07/2016 09:28

On antibiotics. Boob still hurts like a bastard. Send wine.

Me624 · 08/07/2016 10:35

Flowers and Chocolate for you Tri. I only bfed for 2 weeks but friends have had mastitis and I think it usually clears pretty quick with the antibiotics.

MShip hats off to you, DS has had one or two car journeys where he's screamed his head off and I found it so difficult to concentrate on driving. I guess if it happens all the time you get used to it but still stressful.

We are lucky to have my DParents nearby. DF is retired and my DM works four days a week so we always spend her day off together and sometimes see DF another day as well. They have very kindly offered to have DS on her day off when I go back to work which is great.

DomesticAnarchist · 08/07/2016 15:21

Glad you've got the drugs, Tri.

Berry picking sounds lovely TheM. DS2 also screams in the car a lot. And I also just tune it out. School run's got to be done.

I went into work today and left DS2 with DH. I think it took them a while to work each other out, but they survived. When I got in DH told me he'd just been changed and fed, I wondered if I should feel redundant! But DS2 decided he wanted more milk anyway so I felt needed after all!

Managed to pump in work too, though had to do so in the disabled loo. The person with the plan (keys to a special location) was out. So hopefully I'll have better conditions on Monday.

Main thing was it was OK. although my brain's given up

Ooh had to catch up a couple of days ...

FS Flowers for the screaming baby the other day, I feel the same when it happens to me, she seems to be so much louder than other babies!
Q Shock at your DH!!! But yum to the chocolate orange, I've missed them!!
time that sounds like great progress, and also it's great that you're getting out to baby groups, are you finding them helpful?
trijo glad you got your meds. I know 2 people who have stopped BF due to mastitis as it was so bloody awful, so well done for pushing through it
swear did you get your pump issues sorted? One good thing about the US is that the pumps are free on insurance thanks to Obamacare
purple argh I have so been there!! I feel like I spend most of my day and evening nap chasing. Though we had a day like that yesterday and I thought we'd have an awful night but she slept through for 10 hours Shock hoping for the same this evening but it's taken almost an hour of of screaming to get her down and she keeps waking up every 15 mins.

Why did none of you with other DCs warn us about this stuff on our antenatal boards??! Grin Incidentally has anyone tried the shush pat method?

dom congrats on getting through a work day, though I can't believe you had to pump in a loo!!! My US friends are pumping in the car on the commute to work as they've had a decrease in pump output since going back to work so are trying to squeeze extra seasons in.
mship you say only a 15 min drive but I can imagine it doesn't feel like that with a baby screaming the entire way. Does she have silent reflux or have I just made that up? I know silent reflux babies tend to be v uncomfortable in care seats etc. Glad you had a nice day though!
marmite hope your cold gets better Wine

I know we talked about weaning previously, but at my class today we were told that you can started weaning on purees around 4-6mo, but for BLW not until 7-8 months. The other mums had not even heard of BLW and it doesn't seem to have much momentum here. I'm sure my friends at home started BLW around 5-6mo, and I was really hoping to start around then, providing DD is physically ready and interested etc. What do you think??

Me624 · 09/07/2016 05:14

ffaux the advice here is that if you wait until 6 months as recommended you can start BLW straight away. Personally I'm planning to do a mix of purées and finger foods, and wait the full 6 months or as close to it as possible. Some of the others in my NCT group are in such a hurry to start weaning, I don't get why! The babies have only just turned 4 months.

A bad night here, up 3 times with DS. It's worse when it comes after a 4 night stretch of him sleeping through!

DomesticAnarchist · 09/07/2016 08:11

ffaux "Why did none of you with other DCs warn us about this stuff on our antenatal boards??!" - it was too late by then! (And people who are unfortunate to have TTC take an inordinate amount of time really object to hearing about how difficult some of us find it!)

Great that pumps are covered in Obamacare, but sad that that's because the maternity leave/protection system is non-existent.

Pumping in the car on the way? Presumably they're not doing the driving?! I've got a manual pump (after my old electric one crapped out) so not sure that would work!

I've only got to sustain it for less than 2 weeks. He'll be 5+ months after the summer holidays. (Though DH has bought some emergency formula too).

Re weaning, I have the same plans as Me - as close to 6 months as possible and with a mixture of finger foods and purées. It struck me last night (with the house in a complete mess) that BFing right now is so easy. I'll have to get up earlier and have so much more faff when we start weaning. At least all the bottle stuff is DHs responsibility at the moment!

Sorry to hear about your interrupted night, Me. Hope yours was better ffaux. And hope everyone else slept well too.

We were up 3 times, I think. But I've stopped checking the time overnight which makes it easier to handle!

docmcstuffins1 · 09/07/2016 08:35

Morning all, feel like a zombie today. On Thursday night O slept 12 hours with only 2 wake up so I felt like we may have finally come through what I think must be the 4 month sleep regression (that we've been battling with since 12 weeks), but last night he woke 4 times, and at one point took 1.5 hours to settle back to sleep. Sad

Time, yay to rolling. O rolled back to front for the 1st time last week, I felt stupidly proud. He still can't figure out how to roll the other way though!

TriJo hope you feel better soon.

Dom can't believe you are back at work (even if it is just for 2 week) kudos to you.

I'm planning to do a mix of purée and BLW starting at 6 months, but I'm secretly hoping he is ready a bit sooner, as I go back to work full time when he's 6 months and would hate to miss some of the fun!

It's peeing down here today and have 2 dogs to walk. Not looking forward to it- managing 2 dogs, a baby in a sling a ball chucking stick and an umbrella makes it a very 'interesting' experience!

Swearwolf · 09/07/2016 09:04

Sorry to all of you struggling with sleep, have yourselves a lovely lazy Saturday. S is sleeping ok still, one or two wake ups and a decent stretch, but she's only just 16 weeks and hasn't hit the four month regression yet. I'm dreading it, ds hit it hard and started waking hourly, and it went on for months! Do any babies escape it entirely? I'm holding out hope!

ffaux yes I did get it sorted - I posted on a breastfeeding Facebook group I'm a member of and someone sorted it. Turns out I'm an idiot and three and a half years is long enough to forget that I needed to press the button for a really long time to turn it on - doh! Still, I got pumping and got 80ml in about 20 minutes, that's more than I ever got with ds. How much would everyone say I should leave for one feed? I've frozen the 80ml anyway and will pump again, I figure then dh can just defrost one at a time as he needs it.

I'm planning to do a mix of purees and finger foods too, I did it with ds and thought it was the best of both worlds, he got to feed himself but also filled up.

S crossed a centile line this week, she's gone up from the 25th to the 50th! I only have experience of a weeny little straggler, I can't quite believe it, all with my breastmilk!

DomesticAnarchist · 09/07/2016 09:16

Well done you (and your boobs) Swear!
