Dom I had my cool put in at around 8 weeks post natal, so not sure why they're delaying yours.

We are just coming out of about 4 weeks of crappy sleep. Oliver managed 5 hours then 3 hours last night (at its worse we were down to hourly wakings), so hopefully it'll pass for those of you having problems.

Oliver suddenly started rolling from back to front on Friday, now does it every time you put him down. He can't do front to back though so he kind of gets stuck and then screams! He's 15 weeks.

We also transferred into the pushchair last week (despite it saying from 6 months).
Oliver HATED his carrycot and screamed every time we went out in it. He has really good head control and the chair reclines nearly flat so I thought what the hell, and we tried it. Anyway he loved it. I think he just wanted to look around cause he's really nosey! This is from when we tried it out for the first time (which is why he looks a little sceptical still)

*coil not cool !

Trinpy · 04/07/2016 21:15

Aha so I do know you all Smile.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who went awol Pixie!

I think 4-6 months is average for rolling, though can be as late as 9 months ish. Ds1 never rolled as a baby because he had zero interest in moving anywhere.

Me I know with some buggies you can buy wedges to put in the seat unit to make it safe for younger babies, that might be an option for you? I really can't believe that anyone manages to keep their baby in a carrycot until 6 months. They outgrow them so quickly and at around 3/4 months they start to get frustrated at not being able to have a good nose around at what's going on.

Time I can believe that's your tiny baby girl! She's so chubby and cute. She looks like a very happy baby, you must be doing a great job with her Smile.

Ds2 has just gone into 6-9 month clothing. Annoyingly he's quite a bit bigger than ds1 was at this age so all the baby clothes I've saved are autumn/winter stuff. Very skint at the minute so I've just been putting him in the same 3 outfits on a rotation basis and praying he doesn't poo through them all in one day...

Trinpy · 04/07/2016 21:18

Swear I've taken to writing the number of weeks ds2 is on the calendar every week since I made an arse of myself by ringing the Dr's asking to cancel the 12 week jabs as he wasn't 12 weeks yet...only to be told by the receptionist that actually, yes he was Blush.

Me624 · 04/07/2016 21:58

Thanks Q and doc. I have an icandy too doc, so I think I'll get the stroller set up over the next few days. DS has good head control and I didn't think of just wedging a blanket in if he slides down a bit.

Rolling varies here, DS has gone back to front about 3 times in the last month or so and front to back once, but most of the time he just rolls onto his side and is quite happy there so doesn't bother going all the way over. Now he's in his big cot he spends a lot of the night sleeping on his side too.

Anyone else into tennis? DS has been fascinated by Wimbledon!

TriJo · 04/07/2016 22:36

DH loves it, I tolerate it but it's ok for background viewing while I'm doing housework.

Took C to baby swimming today for his first lesson... only to find out that his neoprene shorts were already too small! Little chunk is bigger than the 2 5 month olds in the group Shock

Purpleprickles · 04/07/2016 22:58

Evening all. It's good to see lots of babies in their pushchairs. I tried E on Saturday but she is still a bit tiny. I'm not going to last until 6 months though as she protests to laying down in the pram unless the hood is down so she can see. Not great on sunny days though as she then protests to being blinded.

Had a shitty night tonight. E was her usual screamy evening self, dh working late again does he actually hide there?, ds playing in the garden. Have my parents staying so my mum is being helpful making dinner but needs to ask where bits are. I'm trying to tidy the house so we have space to eat dinner. Ds suddenly screaming, face full of blood as he has hit it on the stone steps, running and jumping around too fast. My mums panicking, I'm trying to count teeth through blood and screams. E's screaming on my dad because she wants too. Get it all sorted and ds is fine just cut and bruised. By the time I put E to bed I had to lay on the bedroom floor in the dark for ten mins. My parents go home tomorrow so my extra pairs of hands are gone. Dh not getting home each night until gone 7 can't be helped but is taking its toll now.

Paperblank · 04/07/2016 23:03

M has just started rolling over - she's 18 weeks and has been giving it some welly for weeks trying to do it. Now she can I'm not sure she's impressed that she fave plants the floor and then gets stuck.

She's a real cheeky chops.

M loves anything green on the telly so has been watching the cricket, golf and football. Her favourite is Bing though she squeals whenever she watches that!

Timetogrowup2016 · 05/07/2016 07:13

Why is 4:30am get up and play in babies world ?
Don't they appreciate they can sleep where ever they want for as long as they want lol.
I keep telling oh their will come a time where it doesn't matter if she's up early as she want always need us in the mornings lol

Maybebabybee · 05/07/2016 07:27

Hideous night here. Up every 90 mins from 2am argh. I'm a zombie!!!

QforCucumber · 05/07/2016 08:34

Haha time I was just coming on to say that I was woken at 4am by ds practising blowing raspberries and then laughing at himself in the pitch black darkness!

Oh no maybe hope you manage some naps today.

paper that little face is adorable, we are 15 weeks (I think) and no front to back rolling yet. Like me he just seems to enjoy going onto his side and staying there.

FS84 · 05/07/2016 08:48

That sounds awful Purple! I hope you have a better day today.

DS has been out of his carrycot for a week or so, he's much happier now he can be nosey.

Couldn't settle him again, tried the sleepyhead in our bed but nope. So he was next to me again. It doesn't bother me as such, I just worry a little about 'bad habits' forming :/ He woke around midnight screaming with a snuffly nose, once we got that sorted he was ok the rest of the night. He woke a few times but not to feed, so I'm fairly certain he's going through the sleep regression.

Me624 · 05/07/2016 09:33

That sounds awful maybe. You seem to be having a really rough time of it lately, do you have good RL support round you?

Time DS often likes to start the day at 4.30am too! If I get to him quick enough I can usually resettle him until about 5.30 when I give in and feed him!

I know home weighing isn't very accurate but I just weighed DS (haven't made it to the weigh in clinic for 5 weeks now) and it looks like he has jumped from the 25th percentile to the 75th! Which seems like a lot. I'm not tracking his feeds anymore but looking back to when I was still a month ago, he isn't taking in any more than he was then, he's been consistently on 30-35oz a day for a while now. He's definitely had a bit of a growth spurt and has gone up a clothes and nappy size but I'm a bit concerned now that I'm over feeding him! I think I had better fit the weigh in clinic in tomorrow so I can check properly what he is but my scales can't be that inaccurate Confused

Maybebabybee · 05/07/2016 10:42

Thanks me. I do have good support from my OH but he isn't the one feeding so inevitably he gets more sleep. DS will take a bottle of expressed and OH keeps offering to do some night feeds but tbh I don't think there's much point as I wake up when DS wakes up anyway and we haven't got a usable spare room yet.

I'm trying to get his naps back on track as I think his terrible night sleep is due to the fact his day sleep was so disrupted over the weekend. Its a vicious cycle.

I received my new mei Tai sling first thing this morning though so we'll try that out later.

Maybebabybee · 05/07/2016 10:44

My family are helpful too - I'm very close to my mum. But in the nicest way she's a lot more of a chaotic go with the flow type than me so she thinks I am too controlled by DS's sleep "routine" (like he has one - I wish!!!). I keep telling her I can't make him sleep anywhere but I don't think she believes me.

Maybebabybee · 05/07/2016 10:45

Your babies are all gorgeous btw Smile

No pics of DS as am paranoid about being outed - I know a bunch of my friends and family are on MN.

FirstTimeMummy25 · 05/07/2016 11:39

Hi ladies,
Hope those of you with lack of sleep have managed to catch up slightly... Nothing worse then lack of sleep I'm rubbish without it!
No proper rolling here yet he's trying but not with much success bless him.
Just a quick question, just got back from weigh in with DS and he's only gained 4oz in 2 weeks - I did self weigh in today so didn't see HV. He's been following the 25th centile but usually puts on anything from 8oz to 1lb in 2 weeks and this is the first time since the first few weeks when he was born that he's put on so little. Should I be worried at all? He was 4 months old on Sunday and weighs 13lb 5oz now?
I'm probably worrying over nothing...

FirstTimeMummy25 · 05/07/2016 12:35

Been home and checked chart and he's now fell from 25th to 9th centile

Swearwolf · 05/07/2016 13:11

Is that one centile line FTM? They usually don't worry unless they cross two. Can you give your health visitor a ring if you're worried, or is there a clinic on this week?

DomesticAnarchist · 05/07/2016 13:31

Sympathies to the sleepless.

I've been feeling much better since we learned to feed lying down. Is that feasible, maybe?

My bras just arrived! I had an email overnight saying they were being packed, and now they're here already!

I'm itching to try them on but I've got DS2 asleep in the carrier. And I'm not going to wake him up!

We had mega reflux this morning. He puked on everything. Nearly into the bag of clean washing I've been ignoring. (I think he missed it!). We both had to change twice before we could take DS1 to school (just made it in time!). And I'm very grateful for the laminate floor - nicely wipe clean! I confess I did not handle it well. I'm still wearing the second sucked-on t-shirt ( it seemed pointless to change).

OP posts:
Maybebabybee · 05/07/2016 13:54

dom I've done that a few times but my boobs are huge so they're not that easy to manoeuvre into position - and DS won't always feed that way. When it works it helps but it often doesn't work.

He's had much better naps today (thus far, anyway) so fx that helps with night sleep. I took him out in the mei tai sling and he whinged something chronic but I think he was tired - if I'd carried on walking he might have dropped off but I didn't want him overwrought so I came home and put him in the cot. Sparko!

Has anyone else's baby not liked the sling initially and got used to it? I really want to persevere if I can as they're so useful on the tube etc.

FirstTimeMummy25 · 05/07/2016 14:01

Swear yes it is just down one line, that's reassuring to know. That's a good idea I'll give my health visitor a call and see what she says :)

BFing mums when do you plan to wean off the boob? I'm undecided on when to do this yet I initially thought 6 months but I'm in mixed minds about it...

Maybebabybee · 05/07/2016 14:06

first I'll keep going for as long as he wants it I think - at least a year. My mum was still bfeeding me at 2.5 so there's a tradition of going for ages in my family.

Obviously it's easy for me to say that now though - ask me in six months Grin

FirstTimeMummy25 · 05/07/2016 14:24

Oh wow, I take my hat off to you! See I had 6 months in my head but thinking maybe carry on for longer, but what about when I'm back at work when he's 8 months (I return in November) maybe I could feed morning and night then when he's at childminders he can formula feed? Or expressed milk?

Maybebabybee · 05/07/2016 14:30

My SIL has a DD aged 16 months whom she still feeds though she's back at work...her little one is on a morning and evening feed only now so it works fine for them.
