Sorry you had bad nights too Q and maybe. The 4 month sleep regression is awful but at least it (should!) only be temporary. Hope it passes quickly for you Q.

Maybe it is me's Dh who has been misbehaving this time. Mines been saintly recently, thankfully. I hope he was sorry for not texting me?

french maybe you'll be lucky and have one of those babies whose teeth come through with no problems!

Ds2 was much better after the calpol took affect and actually slept OKish overnight. Then Ds1 ruined it all by waking up screaming at 5 am. Luckily it was Dh's turn to get up with the dcs so I got to catch up on some sleep.

Is anyone else finding it really hard to feed their baby at this age? Ds is so easily distracted by anything going on around him. It has to get to the stage where he's crying with hunger before he will actually focus on the job in hand and stay latched on Hmm. He's so nosey!

Trinpy · 29/07/2016 10:40

Ah x posted with everyone again!

maybe ds1 only rolled once (front to back at 5 months) as a baby and that was it for movement of any kind until he started crawling at 9 months. I think some prefer to just watch the world go by around them! Ds2 rolled at 3 months but appears to only use it to get into a comfortable position at night! I must have lazy babies.

magpiedreams · 29/07/2016 16:01

first maybe my first 2 were not in the least bit interested in rolling until >6m, they're all grown and very agile children now so not to worry. I am more surprised than anyone that DS2 is a little rolling obsessive, and like others up thread this is a pain at nappy changes and bedtime.

tri glad the boob is cleared up. Mine is too. It's such a bitch though isn't it. Did you keep up BFing? Hats off if so. I've not had as many issues as you and have my thoughts from time to time about stopping but then I get the guilt that I BF the other two for >12m.

dom hope you arrived safely, happy holidays! We flew out yesterday too and are so far having a bit of a shit time as I have been confined to the room all day with D&V Sad. We're just away with DS2 though for a long weekend and a wedding so I'm looking on he bright side and thinking its a good day to be sick all in all - air con, en suite, only one child to look after and a whole other adult to look after him. Also on the plus side DS2 was a delight in the 4 hour flight. Hoping I'm better for the morning. Sincerely hope your holiday is more fun so far!

Hi there.

I'm a newbie hoping to join you guys if possible please? Not only am I late to the game having lurked since pre-natal threads but my little boy, S, was actually born in April. I very much hope you'll have me anyway though as you all seem lovely and I could do with the support/empathy/advice!

In brief, S is my first. Feelings going well, sleeping is probably low average. He's generally a fairly happy baby as long as you attend to his every whim immediately and don't try anything cheeky like putting him in a cot when he's asleep. We had problems with wind in the early days but that's resolving slowly. He still thrashes around alot at 4-6am - does anyone elses' babies do this?!

Currently constantly chewing on fists and dribbling. Not sure if it's teething or just exploring his hands? We've also had more disrupted nights for the past few nights and so I think we may be heading for 4m sleep regression (although he's only 16w)

Can I join?!

TheMshipIsBack · 29/07/2016 18:45

Hi mint! Welcome to the club!

We're like maybe, never really had the 4 month sleep regression as it's never been particularly good sleep anyway. T will be 21 weeks on Monday and 5 months next weekend so we're probably not in danger of it getting worse at least. Have had a couple of longer night wakings recently. Not teeth, she's been quite content, just awake! I 'm putting it down to a developmental leap.

Both kids were stars today, really easy for me. I'm going to visit a newborn tonight! I think my friend said he was just over 7 lb, that'll look tiny compared to T. I'm bringing freezer meals and oatmeal cookies, and I'll be in and out in five minutes. My friend is the dad, so I'm trying to be conscious of not intruding on the new mum who I don't know as well.

Maybebabybee · 29/07/2016 19:49

I genuinely don't know how much longer I can cope with this teething. Completely at the end of my tether. Literally nothing is working.

QforCucumber · 29/07/2016 20:12

Scream scream scream scream for 30 mind. Why? Because I put him in the big cot, get rolled into his front, woke up,scared himself and couldn't get back. Rolls fine through the day though Sad need to master this as he won't fit in moses basket much longer.

QforCucumber · 29/07/2016 20:13

Oh maybe commiserations too, I don't even know what to suggest!

Maybebabybee · 29/07/2016 21:03

I'm just venting. Just had to take him out in buggy to get him to sleep - took an hour and he's not fed in 4 hours so no doubt he will wake up hungry soon.

This has definitely been the worse day. I sincerely hope that means the bastard tooth is near.

My poor baby. I don't know what to do for him. The only thing I haven't tried are those sodding Amber bracelets!!!

Maybebabybee · 29/07/2016 21:05

Q you could get a sleepyhead?

I'm not even going to bother attempting to master cot sleeping, when he grows out of the deluxe I'm getting the grande.

docmcstuffins1 · 29/07/2016 21:49

Sorry to those of you with sore boobs and no sleep, and sorry for those little babas with sore gums. I had a milk blister the other day - OMG sooo painful. I ended up having to pop it with a sterile needle Shock
We've been through the 4 month sleep regression (I hope), it started at 12 weeks and stopped at 4 months hopefully to the day. O is 5 months next week so I'm hoping that is it done and it's not going to come and bite me on the arse! I have been planning on moving him into the big cot any time, but keep chickening out as I'm terrified of cocking his sleep up again, he really is getting to long for his Snuzpod though so will have to bite the bullet soon.
Welcome mint!

TriJo · 30/07/2016 00:24

Magpie We're combination feeding now - have introduced one bottle of formula in the evening each day this week. Still all boob apart from that, with some comfort pumping.

We were a bit late getting him to bed this evening and he was absolutely inconsolable. Literally screamed until he fell asleep sucking his thumb. Poor little dude :(

marmiteandcheeseplease · 30/07/2016 06:33

Hey all, just checking in from insanely hot Italy! Was 37 degrees yesterday, we managed to keep in the shade nearly all day though! Me and dh have also been bitten like mad by mosquito's, and i forgot to pack the bug repellent even though dh asked me to - he's not pleased with me. Whoops! Got a wedding to go to today and hoping we survive it with both kids in tow.

Welcome mint!

Sympathies for the bad teething maybe, dd1 was am awful teether, it lasted ages. Have you tried anbesol liquid? You can get it from boots but have to ask for it over the counter. Its waaaay better than bonjela and actually works to numb the pain.

Think we are out of sleep regression territory at last. Fingers crossed! Given that two weeks ago dd2 was waking every 1-2 hours and up to 5 times a night, them went to 3 wakes a night, she is now waking at around 3/4 then around 6 and going back down again. So there is light at the end of the tunnel for those of you in the regression at the moment!

Maybebabybee · 30/07/2016 06:55

Yes marmite, have tried the Anbesol liquid liberally - doesn't seem to help at all. Good luck with the wedding!

Bad night as usual. And DH was so "tired" this morning from being woken ONCE at 3am that he has gone back to sleep while I rock DS in the buggy Hmm

RhubarbAndMustard · 30/07/2016 07:03

Hi there mint!
*
Maybe I really feel for you with the teething. J is suffering but not as bad. Thanks for the tip on the Anbesol liquid marmite*. I'm going to Boots today so will pick some up too. Hope you have a fantastic time at the wedding and woop to the weather! Not woop to the bites.

Maybe is it worth checking in with a pharmacist or gp to see if there is anything else you can try? Flowers hoping it gets better soon and those teeth have a huge growth spurt.

J hasn't had any sleep regression yet and he's 5 months next week so fingers crossed we may not get it this time, although with DS1 we went through quite a few later on, so it will happen.

Maybebabybee · 30/07/2016 07:35

The GP said to just keep dosing him up with calpol and neurofen. It does seem to take the edge off but I don't like giving him so much medicine.

It's got significantly worse the last few days so I hope that means the end is in sight at least.

It's kind of a vicious cycle as his teeth hurt so much that he doesn't sleep well, but then he's overtired as well as in pain. I'm just going to put him in the buggy for all his naps today as I know he'll sleep in there and he might be in a better mood with some decent naps.

Swearwolf · 30/07/2016 08:07

Sorry to hear you're having such a bad time maybe, hopefully it will be over soon. We're teething here too but nothing like that. My ds was always terrible with teeth - crazy high temperatures, vomming and screaming - but some teeth were worse than others and some were through quickly and quietly. Hopefully it will be the same for you.

Welcome mint! Sounds like your boy is teething too, poor sausage, we've got the hand stuffing and dribbling here too. We're going through so many bibs a day as she's so wet, it's horrible!

Q, I second the sleepyhead suggestion, though they are expensive. S is a crazy roller, can make it across a room in seconds, and she sleeps perfectly still in hers.

Swearwolf · 30/07/2016 08:11

Also, my boy only slept in the buggy for naps until he was over a year old maybe, it hasn't affected him, he's a great sleeper now. I got to quite like it, I could be really flexible with plans as he'd just sleep while out, I got ever so thin, quite enjoyed a sleep Costa, and even got the hang of bumping the buggy up the stairs to our flat so I could go in and have a cup of tea. Honestly, if it works, I say go with it.

Maybebabybee · 30/07/2016 08:15

swear thank you Smile He's usually a brilliant cot sleeper, it's just since the teething he's struggled.

TheMshipIsBack · 30/07/2016 08:47

maybe it's been going on so long, did your GP consider anything other than teething as a cause? Flowers You're really going through the mill here. It's the weekend now, tell your DH to get out of the house and run errands with DS in the buggy until lunch time, and you go back to bed. This will pass, but it's awful right now, so do anything you can to make it easier. When DS was in the worst of his colic it was this time of year too, and we hired a uni student to come in the mornings for a few hours and she'd care for DS while I went back to bed, just bringing him to me when he was hungry. She mostly watched Olympics walking around the living room with DS in the sling, I think she thought it was a very easy job!

Trinpy · 30/07/2016 08:53

Oh maybe I'm so sorry to hear you're both still suffering. I'm not surprised that you're at the end of your tether with this, it's been going on a long time now Sad. I hope you get a chance to catch up on your sleep too. Are you getting some baby free time over the weekend?

marmite Envy at you with your nice Italian weather. Have a lovely holiday.

Ouch at the milk blister doc. Glad I haven't had to experience that one yet...

Welcome mint.
Dh and I are doing sleep relays this morning after another rubbish night. It does seem to help if I give the calpol straight away at bedtime though. Will be getting anbesol too today if I have time. Ds has this little soft toy lion hanging on his bouncy chair which is currently being chewed within an inch of its life! Actual teething toys have been largely ignored. The tip of one tooth has been there for absolutely bloody ages a while now so we must be nearing the end of it.

PixieMiss · 30/07/2016 10:09

Less "baby" talk but hopefully you won't mind me asking!

Has everyone had their first period by now?

H is 19 weeks (or 18 Blush ) and I stopped breastfeeding completely when he was 11 weeks. Not that I am complaining at the lack of my period mind Grin

Maybebabybee · 30/07/2016 10:32

Thank you all. GP checked him over and said he seems fine. I'm sure teething is all it is as he has all the symptoms. Neurofen seems to have helped him this morning. It's only been the last few days it's been really bad. It's also he's usually an easy baby so I'm not used to dealing with it.

Trinpy · 30/07/2016 13:39

Pixie I haven't (and I was 11 months pp before it came back after ds1, so not expecting it any time soon) but I'm still ebf. I think 6-8 weeks is usual after stopping bf but it can be months.

Have you had any signs of it returning? Cramps or signs your body's trying to ovulate?

Maybebabybee · 30/07/2016 14:41

Omg guys. I've got DS down in his sleepyhead for two of his four naps today. Once he slept 1.5 hours and I've just got him down again so I hope he does a decent ish stretch. Had to lie next to him but no crying and a massive improvement on the past few days when it has been an hour+ of rocking him in the buggy.
