Purple but if your baby's sippy cup isn't blue or pink how will everyone know whether they're a boy or a girl? Wink

Maybe yes it's usually the bottom front 2 that come in first but some babies get different ones. Poor him (and you!) that sounds really tough. I hope the second tooth comes through speedily.

Me I didn't know that the lullaby trust say it's OK to leave them on their front when they can roll. I've started leaving ds when he rolls now because he was constantly doing it so it was getting a bit silly!

Both boys were up for the day at 4.30 this morning. Dh and I took turns staying up with them while the other one slept though so it wasn't too bad.

I also think I may have accidentally potty trained ds1. He's been wandering around naked at home the past couple of days and just taking himself off to the potty. I put some shorts on him yesterday afternoon and today and he's still using the potty by himself quite happily! We're going out this afternoon so I think I'm going to be brave and keep him nappyless and just see how he goes.

vroc81 · 20/07/2016 10:34

Our HV weigh in clinic sells the sippy cups with three instead of one lid (for each stage to open cup) for £1.20 so I'll put up with blue or pink for that but they did say the kids would then fit all the other colours available in tesco?

We had an ok night R slept in her nappy only it was so hot. Sorry you had a shit night maybe I'm not looking forward to teeth appearing

DomesticAnarchist · 20/07/2016 13:59

Poor thing, maybe. You and DS!

I've managed to sort the nursery issue by moving my late class to a day when DS2 is with the CM. Phew!

DomesticAnarchist · 20/07/2016 21:30

Is it cooler for everyone else? It's just right here. DS2 has gone to bed in a 1 tog sleeping bag and a long sleeved vest and has been sleeping beautifully so far. (Arms-out cold-turkey had its bonuses!) I've had time to do exercise!

Oh, and he's properly rolling, back to front, and then does a swimming type thing that eventually moves him a few cm!

The swimming thing sounds adorable dom
Still 24 degrees here, ds Is in s short sleeved body suit and dp and I have swapped duvet for just a duvet cover on the bed.
Ds fell asleep at 8, but then woke at 9 with the most Horrible screams. Calpol, nelsons powder and dentinox and he's been back asleep 20 mins poor thing.
He weighed 15lbs 10oz today and was 4 months exactly yesterday Grin baba chunk

Gorgeous baby Q

Thank fuck DS is asleep for now as he has driven me up the wall today. He is teething so badly nothing seems to help. I feel awful as I should be thinking, poor baby, he's in so much pain but I just find his crying frustrating Sad

Feel like a shit mum tbh.

Me624 · 20/07/2016 22:04

Cute picture Q!

It is much cooler here tonight than last night thank goodness. DS's room is still 25 degrees though, he is in a nappy and 1.5 tog sleeping bag tonight.

We are still getting lots of disgusting teething nappies from DS but he has been quite happy chewing away on his fingers and hasn't needed any anbesol or calpol for a few days. I can't see any teeth under his gums so I guess we're still a way from actually cutting teeth.

QforCucumber · 20/07/2016 22:04

maybe ds screamed for about an hour non stop today, the only thing that stopped him was loose women Hmm so yes he was placed in his chair in front of the tv while I nursed the pounding headache. We all have those 'I'm a bad mum' days, you won't remember them when he's 18 Smile

Me624 · 20/07/2016 22:06

X post maybe. You are not a shit mum! It's horrible when it seems like there's nothing you can do for them, I know. The few times DS has been ill I've felt like that. Just keep doing what you're doing, dosing him up with calpol etc as it will take the edge off for him even if it doesn't completely clear up the pain, and lots of cuddles!

Maybebabybee · 20/07/2016 22:31

He's still asleep. I just feel so bad for feeling impatient with him when it's not his fault his little teeth hurt.

God help me during the toddler years! Must learn to be more patient, it really isn't one of my virtues...

On the plus side it does feel cooler here tonight. DS still in nappy and 0.5 tog bag with the fan at the end of his cot though - 27c in our room still!

Q I love that he was enjoying loose women!!!

Purpleprickles · 20/07/2016 23:04

Maybe it gets easier when they can talk and listen. Or at least it did with da because he could tell me what was wrong and I could sort it out. Though we did still have sticky toddler patches a lot. I find this stage really hard because we have no real idea about what the babies want and they don't know how to tell us. Plus patience in this heat is a no no!!

We have our mad sleeping arrangements again tonight because the house is still a sweat box. Thankfully the temp is going down slightly tomorrow.

Q that photo is just lovely. He is doing so well with sitting! E is quite happy to sit up in my lap and with me holding her but she flops if I sit her like that. I'm looking forward to when she can do it and I think she is too.

Thanks for the hints about the sippy cups too TheM, I'm off to look tomorrow.

Trin well done with potty training. He was obviously ready. Ds got it really quickly once he had decided he was doing it.

We had a great start to the hols here, I took ds and E with some family to the London Aquarium. It was quiet and cool thankfully and the fish etc were great. Ds had a great time and E loved being in the sling front facing and watching all the Sharks and fish swim past.

QforCucumber · 21/07/2016 00:19

purple you can't really tell there but he's really propped up by the pillow, he has started in the past couple of days though to lean forward a little and hold himself (then fall whichever directon he decides)
I think I've set a bad habit - just realised ds only seems to fall back to sleep if I stick him on boob Confused every night he wakes at about midnight and 4am and to avoid waking dp I feed him immediately. He does empty the boob though so maybe he's actually just hungry, argh I don't know I keep reading that he doesn't need night feeds now, stupid books. I think I'll just stop reading!

Maybebabybee · 21/07/2016 06:36

Thank god we were back to normal last night - he was up every 2.5/3 hours to feed but immediately went back to sleep after.

Q I wondered the same thing as I do that too but then I thought sod the books- if he wants to eat fine, it's easier for all of us that way! If he's still doing it at 6 months I'll try to do something about it as then they are actually capable of going all night without food.

1frenchfoodie · 21/07/2016 08:04

Q same here about 4am, I do try to put dummy in and see if she will go a bit longer but for quiet all round a 4am feed works for us. I'm not reading any books then I am not looking out for regression, milestones etc, I am just enjoying babyhood.

purple ooh, I'd forgotten about the aquarium, good idea for future London trip. I loved them as a kid.

maybee crying is maddening when you can't settle them, there is no magic mummy switch that makes it not grate so don't be hard on yourself.

Rolling here too though ended this am with leg between cot bars (still too hot for sleeping bag). No moving once rolled yet though, just flipping back and forth.

magpiedreams · 21/07/2016 08:39

q and maybe all mine have had night feeds until about 9 months when I've made an effort to stop it. I think it's normal/common. They have slept like troopers since and not had any problems with frequent wakings as toddlers etc.

So I'm at my desk at work Shock. Booked a KIT day ages ago and it came round so quickly. Have said hi to everyone and now in a room by myself facing the enormity of having to do my actual job. Aaaaaah. Plenty of milk in the fridge. DH more than capable at home. I'm jut having a big wobble.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 21/07/2016 09:18

q and maybe my dd1 had night feeds till 1 year when i night weaned her (she was only on one feed a night then anyway). I wouldn't listen to books i think its complete rubbish to say that all babies are capable of going through the night without eating at a particular age, not all babies are the same - they have different metabolisms, calorie needs and sized stomachs !

Trinpy · 21/07/2016 10:13

Aww Dom that swimming thing sounds cute. Sounds like you might have an early crawler...

Maybe it sounds like you've both really been through it recently with the teething. I'm sure after all this you will have the patience of a saint by the toddler years! You're doing really well. It is tough.

Q I fed twice a night up until 13 months because it was such a nice easy way to settle back to sleep. I've read that most babies aren't ready to drop their night feeds until 6-9 months so you're definitely well in the normal range. I honestly believe that when they're babies there's no harm in doing whatever you need to so everyone gets a good night sleep (obviously not spiking their bedtime bottle with whiskey or anything, but you know what I mean!). Lovely photo. Looks like a very happy baby.

magpie hope your kit day goes OK.

Ds is 4 months old today. He's celebrating by having his 16 week jabs Confused. Slightly dreading it because he reacted really badly to the other 2 sets and the 12 week ones resulted in a horrible evening in hospital because I couldn't get his temp down. Fx it goes OK today. The photo was a week ago when it wasn't so hot!

Maybebabybee · 21/07/2016 10:35

trinpy hope the jabs go well. DS has his 16 week ones next week (at 19 weeks Hmm) and I'm dreading them but at least that's it til they're a year old!

magpie hope work goes well Smile. Sure your little one will be fine.

Good to hear about the night feeds. I'm in no rush to drop them as I think I've adjusted to the interrupted sleep but it's annoying when books/websites etc tell you they "should" be sleeping through by X,y,z etc.

DS is fragile today so keeping him topped up with calpol. He has gone down nicely for his naps though so that's something. And because I slept last night and it's much cooler today, emotionally I am much more equipped to deal with him should he start screaming!

I swear I have SAD the other way round, in hot weather I am genuinely miserable. Depressed miserable.

FS84 · 21/07/2016 16:23

Hey, have been lurking a bit and not posting sorry :( I've been feeling so low and like I just cannot get things right for DS. Gonna try and have a proper catch up now.

Maybebabybee · 21/07/2016 17:12

Sorry to hear that FS Flowers. Do you want to talk about it?

FS84 · 21/07/2016 17:49

Sorry to hear lots of your babies are teething already! I don't think DS is teething yet although I keep being told he must be. No, he's just tired. Have stocked up on Anbesol and Calpol though.

Night feeds are still happening here too. If I didn't none of us would ever get any sleep. I cope better with night times better than days because at least he goes straight back to sleep at night. He's waking anywhere between 45 mins - 2 hourly.

Thanks* Maybe. DS just gets so upset when he's tired which happens every 90 minutes or so, I'm really struggling to cope with it at the moment. It's hard to believe he's 'just' tired because he sounds like he's in pain :( I can't get him to nap longer than 45 minutes and most of the time he's on me.* It's a constant cycle of eat, cry, sleep. I'm sure this will pass... It's just so incredibly hard right now.

TheMshipIsBack · 21/07/2016 17:49

maybe, trinpy good luck with the jabs!

FS it's a safe place here if you feel like talking. Flowers And if you don't, that's ok - take care of yourself.

Another uncomfortably muggy afternoon here with T refusing to nap until just now, and amazingly she's on the couch beside me instead of in the sling or on the boob. DS is watching cbeebies, thank goodness.

FS84 · 21/07/2016 17:52

Thank you Mship. Another nap refuser!

Ugh don't know what happened to the formatting on my last post, wasn't intentional!

Maybebabybee · 21/07/2016 17:55

FS can you pre empt it by trying to get him to sleep before the 90 min mark if that's when he gets overtired? Used to have similar with DS but now I just automatically put him down for a nap after 90 mins awake time even if he seems wide awake and happy. Now he will quite often go down happily although not when he's teething. Don't always get it right though - 20 mins overtired screaming at his last nap today.

Swearwolf · 21/07/2016 19:31

Sorry to everyone struggling with sleep. We've had a couple of restless nights with the hot weather, and a terrible lack of naps. S mostly sleeps either on me or in the sling or buggy. It's been too hot for the sling and she's not dozing off on the boob as much because we're sticking together, and she's too hot in the pram too and cries as soon as we get outside in it (and miraculously stops as soon as we step inside anywhere, sainsburys was lovely). She's surprisingly getting very good at self soothing, which I always thought was a myth, and has just fallen asleep on her play mat while I was getting the dinner started. Result, dinner in peace!

Any other beastfeeders finding it's making you feel really queasy in this heat? I'm drinking loads but still feel sick!

I'm about to have a lovely pimms regardless, because today is my birthday!!!

(pictures attached for proof that the mat nap really happened, and a gander at the most lovely wee romper suit I've ever bought, which it hadn't been warm enough to wear until this week. Cute photos everyone else!)
