yep me I live in Reading! Haven't braved IKEA yet though - going to give it a while until the excitement settles down. I've already got a pinterest page set up of everything I want to buy from there haha. We usually go to the IKEA in Bristol when we visit my family but now we have two car seats in the back of the car we haven't been able to buy anything big at all so am looking forward to having an IKEA more local.

4 days till DH is back. I'm getting into a routine now with managing two by myself but god I could do with a break, it's so tiring having everything on me.

Had a lovely day today met up with my NCT friend from when I had DD1. She's got a 10 week old so is on leave too at the moment and DD1 and her DS had a great old time running round a local country park and it wasted the whole day which was great. Have no plans for tomorrow though... what I really want is a day bumming around the house but no chance with a 2 and a half year old who needs to burn off energy somewhere.

QforCucumber · 15/07/2016 20:48

Managed to get bath, story, feed and sleep down to 45 mins tonight. I'm guessing it's a fluke and therefore making the most of a singular large glass of white before he wakes!

dom hope a weekend of feeding helps your supply, you'll have to live off porridge too.
Sounds like a lovely day marmite sure kids TV will assist in your lazy day tomorrow Smile

Swearwolf · 16/07/2016 09:15

Weeeeeee I'm at the hairdressers, BY MYSELF! Hopefully dh will cope, I've left expressed milk and a sleeping bab Grin

TheMshipIsBack · 16/07/2016 10:10

Look at all us strong and independent types Grin

dom which booster was it you had? We're in a new build too and were ok with the Ikea high chair with DS, but now I'm wondering if I'll be tripping over the legs all the time since there will now be 3 chairs at the table all the time instead of just 2.

I'm on a bus with both kids running errands this morning while DH hides from the pollen and cleans the house. Poor guy, he thought the season was over and then bam! itchy and sneezing worse than ever.

DomesticAnarchist · 16/07/2016 11:12

TheM, it was this one, but I don't think they make/sell it any more. I'm having trouble finding it. Oh, here's the new version.

I swear this baby has grown overnight. He seems massive today!

OP posts:
Maybebabybee · 16/07/2016 17:49

swear how lovely, did you have fun??

I was reading The Baby Whisperer today. Was Hmm about her advice on breastfeeding. If your baby sleeps through the night (7-7 or something - I wish!) and only feeds once every three hours (as they should according to her) then baby only feeds 4 times a day which seems way too little?!

DS feeds every 2.5 - 3 hours night and day...

Me624 · 16/07/2016 18:44

Maybe DS is ff so bit different anyway but he normally goes 6.45pm - 5.30am or thereabouts without a bottle. I suspect during the day he'd quite happily go 4 hours but I usually offer him a bottle every 3-3.5 hours otherwise we wouldn't fit 5 in and like you I think 4 doesn't seem enough! I guess once they're well established on solids he may drop one then.

Dom it often feels like DS is growing by the day at the moment too. My DPs who see him about once a week say he looks bigger every time.

I am having issues with nappies at the moment - virtually every time DS poos (which was 4 times today!! A prolific pooing day) it is going up his back requiring a full outfit change. Very annoying. He's in size 3 nappies and they are still huge on him so I don't think going up a size is the answer. Any tips? I'm constantly washing pooey clothes!

1frenchfoodie · 16/07/2016 19:47

me were size 2 nappies too small/ not providing enough capacity? E was 13lb3 a week ago and we are still using up the odd size 2 when out and about though 3s seem a better fit. Otherwise she is in reusables and the only real answer is to domthe nappies up a bIt tighter than you'd naturally go for.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 16/07/2016 20:01

maybe the baby whisperer is well known to be completely out of date just plain wrong advice for breastfeeding. Think it was written about 12 years ago and Tracey Hogg passed away a while back so its never been updated. Personally i hated the book as i found the writing style annoying and her advice on bf irritated me. I actually recycled the book as didn't want it anymore but didn't want to pass it on to anyone else 😂

me what brand are you using? Might be worth changing. We use reusable nappies most of the time and find they keep poo in better- i often find if we have dd2 in disposables (we use aldi brand) and she does a poo that she leaks.

We use disposables at night and annoyingly dd2 has leaked 4 times this week. In fact the only two times she hasn't leaked has been when I've bothered to change her nappy at night. So think we might have to move her up to size 3+. Its annoying as i bulk bought size 3s and we don't usually use them in the day so have loads to get through! Have stopped using the reusable nappies so that i can get through them during the day but for the time being will need to change them at night which is a faff.

Three days till dh is back. I do feel i can cope with two by myself and we are getting into a routine but god its knackering. Really need a break now. Dh is back Tuesday morning and im getting my hair cut on Tuesday afternoon and dyed ombre style! So he's going to hang around town with dd2 and bring her in when she needs feeding. Couldn't be arsed with trying to get her on the bottle/pumping between now and then...

Trinpy · 16/07/2016 20:13

Me possibly lots of wind blasting it up the back? I don't think you can do anything to stop it but I like cheap white vests that can be put out in the sun to bleach the stains out very useful for this reason Smile.

Maybe Dh bought me The Baby Whisperer when I was pregnant with ds1 and it went straight back to the shop because it all seemed completely incompatible with current advice on bfeeding (and I don't really agree with her methods but that's just imo).

TheMShip we're going straight to a booster seat too. Really can't be doing with tripping over highchair legs all the time and I think ds2 will like being sat up at the table with all of us. We got a basic mothercare one for ds1 which is similar to the one Dom linked to. I'm planning to put him in it before we start weaning so he can still be involved in mealtimes even if he's not ready to eat yet.

You know how some days it feels like you've really got this parenting thing sussed and other days it all goes so horribly wrong you just want to run away away and hide? Well today has been a run away and hide day for me. Ds2 has refused to be put down all day except when sleeping and Ds1 has been throwing some fairly epic tantrums. I ended up losing it a bit this afternoon when every time I got ds2 to nap ds1 thought it was funny to make as much noise as possible to wake him up again. He thought mummy getting cross was hilarious so no harm done (except to my blood pressure levels maybe) but I still feel guilty about it. Gah, if I hadn't had kids I could be on a cruise or something right now...

Me624 · 16/07/2016 20:21

Thanks ladies, we're using Pampers which he has always been fine with up until the last week or so. DS is just under 16lb (chunk!) and size 2s got too small quite a few weeks ago. We don't by leaking wees, it's just these poos at the moment! Trinpy you might be right about wind, he certainly seems to be using some force to expel them and has been generally more farty lately. I think I'll just have to make sure they're tight round the back and if it continues try another brand.

TheMshipIsBack · 16/07/2016 20:21

marmite have you considered going fully reusable? I'm using little lamb bamboo with motherease wraps for both day and overnight and they're brilliant. If T doesn't poo she can easily go 12 hours in one. Leaks of any sort are very rare, and T's a prolific pooper, minimum 3 a day.

Dom that booster looks perfect, in I'm going to order one. Thanks!

I made strawberry rhubarb pie with classic lattice top for dessert at the PILs tonight. It was amazing. FIL is a huge fan of that pie filling and I thought his eyes would pop out when he saw it! He mowed our lawn yesterday, something that we've been struggling to stay on top of, so the pie was my thanks for that.

1frenchfoodie · 16/07/2016 21:09

mship that pie sounds amazing. I've not tried rhubab and strawberry together but now I am intrigued.

We are another reusable in the day only household (+ when on longer journeys) tbh they very rarely leak but I've just followed my sis, who lent me the nappies, in using a disposable overnight. Nobody else I know irl uses reusables. Sadly pukes so much we go through a few outfits a day that way.

magpiedreams · 16/07/2016 21:39

Just caught up on the news here...from my tent...yes, we are camping- with a 5 year old, 4 year old and 15wk old. And it's actually really fun! This time last year we were also camping and when we got back I got my BFP so fond memories.

Hope everyone's weekends are going well, bar wakeful night, puke and poo explosions, the usual...

woodenmouse · 16/07/2016 22:10

Trying to catch up why everyone as I haven't been on for a while!!

D is 18 weeks and weighs 16lb 6oz and wears 9-12 months clothes. I saw my cousin today and her 2yo is tiny, she still wearing 9-12 month clothes as a joke I held D up next to her and my 18wk old is taller than her 2yo it made me sad because he's growing up too quick.

DomesticAnarchist · 17/07/2016 07:24

Morning all,

Me, I discovered I was doing nappies wrong and getting the 'up the back' issue. I had been putting the nappy up as I could to try to contain it, but that seemed to make it worse. I've found I need to leave the bum area a bit baggy, to leave space for the poo to fill (but not so baggy it comes out the sides). Does that make sense? Like creating a poo-pocket!

Oh,Trinpy what a nightmare. That's the kind of shit that our DS1 likes to pull. Don't feel guilty, we've all been there.

Wow, that's brave magpie! We're supposed to be camping next weekend. I haven't committed to it yet!

We've been slack on the cloth nappies. They come out, we've got enough for about 2 days, then they fall victim to laundry mountain and were on disposables till they get through the wash.

Is anyone around? Things have got bad round here and I need someone (anyone!) to talk to.

Timetogrowup2016 · 17/07/2016 08:29

Trin- are you ok?

QforCucumber · 17/07/2016 08:30

I'm up and available trinpy Brew at the ready

1frenchfoodie · 17/07/2016 08:37

Hi Trinpy, things didn't chill out then?

Me624 · 17/07/2016 08:38

I'm around Trinpy if you need anyone else. Flowers

DomesticAnarchist · 17/07/2016 08:44

I'm here and sympathetic

OP posts:
Trinpy · 17/07/2016 08:45

Had an argument with Dh . Well not so much argument as him completely losing it. He shouted at lot at ds1 and then at me (for no reason) then threw ds1's toy truck at the wall and then down the stairs until it broke Angry.

I've no idea what came over him (well extreme tiredness obviously) but I'm furious with him.

Trinpy · 17/07/2016 08:46

And ds2 is still crying every time I try to put him down. Ds1 is destroying the house. And I can't do this anymore. This is really fucking hard.

1frenchfoodie · 17/07/2016 08:53

trinpy that is shit, hope your DH comes to his senses. Hope you have rl support to get some space and tlc of your own.. Does D2 settle if held by anyone else?
