Poppins - it's crazy he's a different baby at the mo didn't know if it was something I was doing wrong, everyone keeps saying give him baby rice or formula that will sort him out but I'm not sure I want to unless I have to surely that's not the only answer?
He might not even be hungry just might have the hump this week Confused

FirstTimeMummy25 · 11/07/2016 23:18

Oh and I have nothing to compare to however I never noticed nieces or nephews being like this but then again that's not quite the same is itHmm

Timetogrowup2016 · 12/07/2016 07:54

How many people have babies who don't just feed in the night but then take ages to settle after? I'm aware this is probably more normal than having a baby who just feeds and goes back to sleep but my god it's frustrating especially when you can see she's still so tired.
Dd settled her self at 8pm and woke at 8:30pm for 5oz and straight back to sleep. She woke at 12:45am but I suspect she had been awake for longer because she was playing and rolling onto her side in her cot. I fed her 5oz and she didn't go back until 2:30am. She then fed again at 5am and didn't go back till 6 and is kind of dozing on/off now.

We have given dd a bit of baby rice mixed with formula /Apple purée as per advice we've been given, she doesn't understand what to do with it and she's still the same baby and she still has her tounge thrust reflex so I'm going to stop and try again in a month or so. Feeling guilty now though as she's only 21 weeks/16.5 actual weeks. I know a little bit probably won't harm her in the long run though.

My mum came and took her for a walk yesterday which was nice... And she drove us to tescos which is handy as I don't drive and can never do a big shop on my own.

Dd gets bored now easily to. She really wants to sit up on her own and can hold her self very steadily with her just holding my fingers with her hands but isn't quite their yet. She enjoys a walk in the car seat though when she's awake as she can look around. It's so hard knowing what to do with them.
Also dd doesn't reach for toys yet or grab unless I give them to her - even then I feel it's accidental and not because she's actually interested. Is this normal? She'd rather me talk and sing to her all day long...

Timetogrowup2016 · 12/07/2016 07:56

Dd eating haha.
Also she tends to fall asleep during tummy time... and she can only hold her head up for a few seconds to which also worries me...

I second the Jumperoo, O wasn't sure at first but now loves it. Still can only manage short bursts in it as it all gets a bit much for him!

Thanks Trinpy glad to know the nappies are not going to last (hopefully), and yes the middle of the night change is a real pain isn't it.

Q yes to the stinky pumps - OMG they stink.

Time O is also one that constantly needs entertaining, and loves to be sung too. Not sure how DH is going to find that when he's in charge HmmDon't worry too much about milestones. All babies hit them at different rates. The HV was really concerned about my niece as she wasn't crawling. She then went onto crawl and walk for the first time in the same week! C will still have a lot of catching up to do as de was so early, so will be late hitting them. She'll catch up eventually though. The pics are so cute, especially the face plant time one Wink

On a happy note, O slept from 8 till 3 last night, then took an hours sleep a half to settle but slept again until DH got back from nights at 6:30. Hope the rest of you have got some sleep.

Maybebabybee · 12/07/2016 09:10

DS is another fan of the jumperoo.

time mine needs a lot of entertaining too though often this luckily takes the form of sitting in his bouncy chair watching me cook/do things etc. He also doesn't grab much yet. He'll hold something if you give it to him but won't really reach for stuff.

vroc81 · 12/07/2016 09:22

Sorry have been lurking.. My mum keeps visiting and staying for days on end which seems to take over all my time despite the fact that there are 3 of us to look after her in the day?!!

R is getting bored easily she rotates around my lap the mat the jumperoo and the chair during the day but nothing entertains her for long at the minute..Time I am also doing a lot of singing....

We have had a roll! I didn't see it Blush but she was suddenly on her stomach so waiting for a repeat! She is grabbing the toys on the mat but mostly to stuff them in her mouth.. She also seems to be a bit grumpy at the moment and I'm Struggling though to get my pumping time if she's not asleep with her not kicking off but can suddenly see I can probably keep this pump lark up to six months..

Trinpy · 12/07/2016 09:44

Yy I remember the won't-settle-at-night-anymore phase and was dreading it. I'm typically up for 1.5-2 hrs a night with ds2, it's knackering. Maybe it's a developmental thing? They're suddenly so much more interested in everything at this age, wanting to explore and learning lots of new skills, maybe they're busy processing it all at night (this is just speculation, I have no idea what goes on in their little heads!).

First you might know this already but it is normal for some ebf to go days at a time without pooing. It's only an issue if the poo is hard little balls. Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know! Also, I'm sure your milk is enough, the night waking is just a stage.

Trinpy · 12/07/2016 09:53

Yay for another rolling baby vroc!

You've all convinced me I need a jumperoo. Just need to sneak it into the house when Dh isn't around so he can't moan about having yet more overpriced plastic tat in the house .

TheMshipIsBack · 12/07/2016 10:28

trinpy haha - I'm not the only one browsing jumperoos then? I think T would love one ...

QforCucumber · 12/07/2016 11:08

I can't justify the cost of one however checking out Gumtree there are a couple in my area at £30/£35 so going to try those. No finding nemo ones though Sad

Maybebabybee · 12/07/2016 11:20

I got a jumperoo on gumtree for £15. It's the older model but it's exactly the same except for the colour.

MrsElls · 12/07/2016 11:52

Anyone had any success with breastfeeding dresses? I bought 2 in the frugi sale but find that in order to not get slobber/milk dribble on it during feeds I have to make a massive gap which means I have to wear my shawl anyway. Just feeding C before popping in to work just to say hello not to do any work but I'm convinced I'm going to be covered by the time she has finished as she is really faffing!

Anyone after a jumperoo check out local facebook groups for mums.my local one is the snappily titled Bexley Borough Mummies Free, For Sale and Services page. There are always jumperoos on for about £30. The Bexley one is a closed group but I'll add anyone local if you pm your facebook name.

1frenchfoodie · 12/07/2016 12:21

Time I'm another non driver. Internet food shopping is a godsend. It works well with my current dodgy memory as I can put stuff in my online trolley as I remember it.

MrsE I feel for you, E goes through phases of being faffy when feeding and dribbles so much I need muslin tucked into my bra. Just dressing in shists / stretchy ts now.

We had a roll too - work to E sleeping face down and she now likes to flip back and forth after her morning feed.

One +ve side of 16wk jabs was E sleeping 10.30 - 8am. No sign of grouchiness either. She is a petty self sufficient baby so long as she has a few sessions with bouncy chair toys, activity mat etc each day. She spends a lot of time just babbling to herself.

Trinpy · 12/07/2016 13:06

Thanks for the tip on jumperoos. I've just had a look on Gumtree and there are a couple on there going for £30. Do the normal ones fold up or is it only the space saver ones that do that?

MrsElls I keep a muslin tucked in between me and ds so if he pulls away to look at something more interesting I can pull the muslin up quickly to keep (some) modesty and stop milk spraying everywhere. Also means if he brings some back up then it soaks straight into the muslin and not my top.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/07/2016 14:02

time my dd1 was a frequent waker who stayed awake for ages and she continued to wake at night even when I night weaned her at a year, and it was even harder to settle her Confused she would literally be up for two hours. Sometimes even now (at two and a half) she does it. FX your Dd is different!

Ftm I imagine it's just a phase and weaning isn't going to make a difference . Baby rice has basically no nutritional value at all but I'm not sure how old your DS is so whether you have any other options if you want to wean. In my experience I have found people are always quick to pile on the pressure to wean, I've got no idea why. Even my mil who is a hv and knows the guidance was on at me to wean dd1 at 5 months and I caved in and regretted it. This time I'm waiting till 6 months unless dd2 takes food off me herself when I'm not paying attention!

Dd2 is four months on Sunday and sleep has gone to pot, up every two hours and yesterday she nap refused all day. Hoping it's just that we went away for the weekend and unsettled her and not the four month sleep regression ie the new norm...

DH has been away for five days now and I am coping, just about. But I have a heart rate monitor on my watch and I checked it today, my 7 day avg resting heart rate has shot up from 52 (last week) to 65 (this week)! It's pretty much always round the 52-55 mark so think the stress of looking after two DDs alone is getting to me. He's not back from his work trip for another week! 😱

Mrsells I have some JoJo bf dresses which I found easy to use without flashing but they're too big for me now so I've just started wearing wrap dresses or shirt dresses and tucking a muslin into my bra (too hot for a scarf or shawl!). I always need a muslin anyway as dd2 is still very sicky and possettes after each feed so need to have one to hand anyway.

Purpleprickles · 12/07/2016 15:56

You are all making me think we need a jumparoo! MrsE I assume you mean Bexley as in Kent? If so we might be very geographically close to each other Smile

E had her 16 week jabs today at nearly 18 weeks. She was furious that it happened. Another baby went in after her and came out all calm while I was still in the waiting room trying to pacify her. She is going to be a very feisty teenager.

Maybebabybee · 12/07/2016 16:00

MrsE I'm near Bromley so relatively close to you too Smile

If anyone's in south east London can recommend the mummy's gin fund Facebook group for buying and selling baby and kids' bit.

FirstTimeMummy25 · 12/07/2016 16:31

Marmite - DS is 18 weeks I think it's too early to wean him in planning on breast feeding until 6 months but everyone like you say is so quick to judge, it was my mum who said well maybe you need to top up or give some baby rice the poor lad could be hungry... Then it makes you doubt yourself but I'm going to go with my gut on this I think, I will speak to HV and make sure he's putting on weight at next weigh in etc...
Sleep gone to pot here too but then again it's never been great, he has just had a 2 hour nap tho which is a one off and allowed me to do the ironing.

MrsElls · 12/07/2016 16:54

Yes purple Bexley, Kent. I'm in Bexleyheath so really not far from Bromley maybe.

I'm going to have to start doing the muslin tuck trick. C always seems to save her faffing fir when I'm out on my own, or maybe I just notice it more when I'm on my own.

I second Mummy's Gin Fund for South East people!

Purpleprickles · 12/07/2016 17:09

I'm Eltham MrsE and Maybe and I'm
a gin funder too! Grin

Maybebabybee · 12/07/2016 17:31

Ooh we're all very near!! Small world :)

Timetogrowup2016 · 12/07/2016 17:48

C loving her walker for the first time haha

Maybebabybee · 12/07/2016 17:59

Aw she's so cute!

Timetogrowup2016 · 12/07/2016 19:07

Thank you.
I was shocked how well she supported herself in it .
I do really want a jumperoo though but we are tight on Money at the moment and getting oh to agree will be a mission.
plus I already have rhe bouncy chair, swing chair, play mat and Carry cot in the lounge...
C is going in her own room tonight as I'm struggling to sleep with her in the room with us due to her noises... Hopefully it goes well
