I wish I could say it felt fast to me, but tbh it's felt endless as its been a much tougher one than last time.

And also last time I went 10 days over so it could be the end of Sept yet! Hmm

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/09/2016 16:52

Happy ds2 did that Mon was going round houser calling ds1 and when we got back from toddler group did the same and then searched for daddy.

Ds2 has wooden farm bits for bday and xmas probably happyland.

Although has taken to postman pat yep the one thing (actually that n thomas tank) that ds1 didn't take to.

happypotamus · 09/09/2016 18:05

anna wow, only a week to go. I had had both of my DDs by that point. Hope the birth goes well. Am looking forward to seeing pictures of your DS and new baby. Walking is going well. When we picked DD1 up from school, she asked to get out the pushchair, ran round the playground for a bit with DD1 and her friends and then walked all the way home. It took an absolute age but she has never walked that far before. She has also recently started talking about rain but it sounds like it hasn't been raining as much here.
eastmids Yes, when she wasn't looking round for DD1 she was looking and calling for Daddy. Obviously, I am not very interesting on my own.

haventgotaclue1 · 09/09/2016 20:00

ONE week!!!???!! Oh Anna, fingers crossed. Thanks for your thoughts - must admit have been feeling pretty rubbish over the last 2-3 weeks (including one particularly literally yucky weekend) - it's come as a bit of a shock as apart from 4 days of slight nauseous last time, I was lucky and was fine. I'm banking on it all miraculously disappearing after the 1st trimester...

Anyone else finding their DC taking a sudden liking / desire to posting things out through the letter box? Hmm DD suddenly finding it really funny to post her socks through the letter box....thing is, she does it when I'm not looking, then when I can't find them, she runs to the front door laughing her head off.... Gotta love 'em Grin

ladydolly · 11/09/2016 06:47

anna a Week? It feels like, even it came round so quickly! Good luck!

I'm struggling with shoes here, dd refuses to wear any of the new winter shoes I've got her. They fit fine she just won't wear them. Any advice?

We've got an outdoor playhouse for dd for birthday and a dolls house for Xmas. Grandparents will buy a scooter. Not sale in a couple of weekends where I'll pick up little stocking fillers.

happypotamus · 11/09/2016 16:48

DD has started asking 'CBeebies please?' And 'chocolate please?' Accompanied with especially cute smile! How has this happened? At this age DD1 didn't know what CBeebies or chocolate were, and she still doesn't have very much chocolate so I don't really know how DD2 knows to ask for it.

haventgotaclue1 · 11/09/2016 19:19

No advice on the shoe front lady - DD is almost the opposite: constantly asking for her "do-s", we put them on, then 2 mins later she's taking them off again...Hmm

Feeling rather pleased with myself today as went into Jojo Maman Bebe and picked up a dress that was reduced from £20 to £15 (still a lot to pay, but it's going toy be a "special occasion" dress (birthday parties, Christmas and anything that requires her to look vaguely smart). Anyway, we tried it on in the shop and one of the buttons dropped off - it's a pinafore dress. Took it to the counter and informed them that the button had just fallen off: they took off a further £4! Bargain! Grin

happy we're getting demands to read particular books at the mo ("Hat" - for "Rosie's Hat" and something that resembles "Gruffalo"...not that we're BIG Julia Donaldson fans in this house Wink)

Hope you're doing ok Anna...

Annarose2014 · 11/09/2016 19:37

Yes, all fine here. 39 weeks today, so pretty bored hanging around the house!

DS is also the opposite - has twigged that shoes off = not going out again, so kicks off hugely when we try to take them off. Yes, we have on occasion put him for naps still wearing them! Thankfully we can take them off then.

Im one that hates them wearing them in the house, but sometimes you have to pick your battles. Basically I've discovered the best time to take them off is when he's distracted by Paw Patrol. Hmm

Strawberryfield12 · 12/09/2016 13:40

For once there is no problem with shoes here, quite the opposite, when we dress her in the morning she often looks at her bare feet and asks "shoes?"
DD has figured out that when she wants something and we dont seem too eager, she has to say "please" and we are out of excuses.
Nursery is having Roald Dahl dress up day this week. Not that easy with a child too small for face being painted and not tolerating anything on her head. Ended up making oompa loompa dungarees from her leggings. Had a look at different costumes online to have an idea. The thought of spending £15-£20 for something to be worn just once is unnerving. I might start to look at buying sewing machine and make things out of old clothes etc.

annatha · 12/09/2016 19:36

How exciting anna!

We're going to Edinburgh zoo for dd's 2nd/ ds's 1st birthdays. so me and dh can celebrate the end of "two under two" present wise she's getting a bed for her teddies from ikea, a proper Aqua doodle (we had a cheap Ebay jobby to see if she liked it but she rubbed food into the mat) and grandparents are getting messy play stuff to stay at their house thank god

moggle · 12/09/2016 20:22

We've had some dressing up days at nursery, I've gotta say I have just ignored them! Am thinking of sewing something for Halloween though...

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 13/09/2016 18:33

For Halloween get gap Skelton PJs buy 2-3 they last 2yrs shove £shop Skelton gloves and socks on outfit done and pnjs can be worn all yr. Ds1 had 2-3 and 3-4 and 3-4 still fitted last hr now to small at 6 but think john Lewis do a onesie

moggle · 13/09/2016 19:39

That's a good idea east! It bugs me how here in the uk the kids all dress up as horrible Halloween characters like witches and stuff ... Seems like we imported this US tradition all wrong - there they dress up as absolutely anything!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 13/09/2016 21:04

We like the Skelton not to gruesome and until last yr ds1 never liked masks and still hates face paint.

Fancy dress wise we have a lot now mostly from sainsburys sale. Although need new pirate one as ds1 is doing pirate theme at school n couple dress ups planned.

Strawberryfield12 · 13/09/2016 21:40

We've got a pirate dress up in few weeks time, luckily I bought for DD for next summer a black and white striped dress which dressed up with some details could go down the "pirate" theme. Halloween hasn't been announced, but it's almost unavoidable, right?

happypotamus · 13/09/2016 22:21

Fortunately our nursery rarely does fancy dress days. They do World Book Day, but it was always on a day DD1 wasn't there until she was in pre-school. Oh, and I think they did superhero theme for Children in Need last year , but, luckily, I had bought the official Pudsey Bear tops so DD2 wore that. 1 year olds dressing up for Roald Dahl day seems a bit silly when they won't know any Roald Dahl characters. DD1 has never had to dress up for Halloween though we have bought her witch costumes once she was old enough to want one.

Annarose2014 · 14/09/2016 09:47

Thank God no fancy dress here so far. Though there are worrying photo collages in reception which indicate it may be coming at some stage. I'm hoping it's for the 3+ kids!

We seem to have another virus here as he was boiling up yesterday though his temp was ok today & he seemed fine so we sent him in. It's so hard to know what to do when there's nothing you can put your finger on this morning but you know they're not right!

Embarrassingly, his key worker reported he has started to have "moments of madness" which is her nice way of saying throwing wobblies. I was hugely apologetic but she says it's normal. He is definitely finding it very hard to be told No or Shhh or Gently. He goes Incredible Hulk and goes all frustrated and red in the face! He actually threw himself on the floor in defiance just because she asked him to sit at the table! Blush

Annarose2014 · 14/09/2016 18:05

Popping back many hrs later to say once again Thank Fuck For Frubes!

Have discovered they are perfect Calpol Trojan horses. Even the right shape. Cut off top, squeeze syringe of Calpol in, and they're sucked down like a Hoover.

I think there's someone here who's a calpol refuser so it may be of interest. dS is in bed now already as he is v poorly. Wanted to go up at 5 actually. And has been very pettish and obstinate about Calpol but hes boiling so needs it badly.

All Hail Frubes! Grin

happypotamus · 14/09/2016 22:06

anna hope he's feeling better soon. Well done on discovering how to get calpol into him. Very innovative!

HalfStar · 14/09/2016 23:23

That's genius Anna. Am I the only one whose kids can't get enough of calpol? They get excited about it even when they're sick and can barely move Hmm

You are all talking about Halloween already...thats dd2's birthday. Feel obliged to make a big deal but will be bringing out last year's skeleton babygro which will totally still fit her as it was massive last year. No presents bought or thought of yet.

MrsAukerman · 15/09/2016 19:23

Keep falling off the darned thread. We're all good. Just about to take ds up to bed after ITNG.

OP posts:
eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 15/09/2016 19:38

Half star ds2 cries for calpol (medicine) before bed often he needs something for teeth or piriton for a reaction he brings me the syringe so we give him water in it saves the tears.

ladydolly · 15/09/2016 20:56

Yes little calpol addict here too. She hasn't had any for ages but was really hot and poorly yesterday, she went to bed at 6 after nearly falling asleep on me from about 5. Had to send mum out to get a fan to keep her and her room cool. Woke up right as rain this morning although clingy this evening.

No progress on the shoes unfortunately.

Speech seems to have taken another leap forward. We're almost having conversations now it's just MAD. I'm surprised everyday. Today DP dropped his bag. 'Oh daddy, you dropped it!' he says can you pick it up, she toddles over 'Ok here you go!' so it's not that it's really long or difficult words but she seems so grown up using them!

Still no colours though, I ask her all the time but she just says everything's blue. Confused

happypotamus · 16/09/2016 13:11

I spent nearly 2hrs from 3-5am trying to get DD2 back to sleep, then, when the alarm went off at 7am, I turned it off and accidentally fell back to sleep for half a hour, which didn't help the usually rushed and stressful challenge of getting reluctant DD1 to school. It's not that unusual to spend 2hrs of the night in DD2's room though, so I don't know why that happened.

Strawberryfield12 · 16/09/2016 17:00

Since last week every time I get email about a new post on the thread, it crosses my mind that it might be Anna with the baby news. Definitely more exciting when you don't have to do the hard work yourself Wink

Yesterday I picked DD from the nursery and offered her baby biscotti asking "biscuit?". She replied "Cup of tea" and scoffed the biscuit.
