Ah, I'm mighty jealous of your cleaner, magpie! I think we're at the point where we could afford it, but not sure I'm ready to let a stranger see the filth we live in!

Jabs here seem to have been booked for DS2, in that we got a letter. They'll be about 9.5 weeks by then too.

High-5 to Ohwool for sofa club.

Sadly, I've just caught sight of myself and I'm going to have to do something about my hair before I pick DS1 up. I look ridiculous! (Is sofa-hair like bed-head?!)

magpiedreams · 24/05/2016 15:50

dom the cleaner is worth every penny. We took the plunge when I went back to work after DD, was perfect timing. Did not want to spend the weekends arguing with DH about cleaning. Plus we had a recommendation from a friend and she is completely lovely.

ohwool haha to exhibitionist feeding!Grin

Me624 · 24/05/2016 16:18

We have a cleaner too and I agree it's worth every penny. So nice not to have to spend precious free time on chores. I refuse to give it up even though with me on mat leave we really could do with the extra cash.

DS still very unsettled this morning and screamed a lot for no apparent reason. I gave him some calpol as it really has been in pain sort of screaming and it seems to have helped as he has been much better since.

Dom I don't blame you for staying up to watch GOT, I shed a tear at yesterday's episode 😥

DomesticAnarchist · 24/05/2016 20:06

Can I ask about the cleaners? How often, for how long, and what things do they do?

MrsElls · 24/05/2016 20:07

A friend told me that getting a cleaner would change my life and she was so right, I will give up all my other luxuries before I give her up!

Me624 · 24/05/2016 20:17

Dom it will depend on how big your house is. We have a 4 bedrooms (1 en suite), bathroom, lounge, kitchen diner and downstairs cloakroom and ours come for 3 hours a fortnight (except there's 2 of them so they do it in 1.5 hours). They dust everywhere, vacuum, mop all tiled areas, clean the kitchen surfaces, hob and bathrooms and empty bins. Worth their weight in gold.

dobbythedoggy · 24/05/2016 20:18

Wish I could have spent the day in sofa club. Will book myself in for friday, although may have a very grumpy dd glued to me as she has her pre school booster jab on Thursday. Today I manages to leave the house without my purse twice so need to try much harder to do an impression of a functioning adult tomorrow as I have double the errands now. So glad eddy will feed in the sling as we've been chocablock since Saturday.

wool I've been chatting to time.

Dh has had a massive tax rebate so you're all making me toy with the idea of a deep clean as well as the new fridge and freezer I'm eyeing up. Have already brought a new sling...

Itsaslingthing are great for postal rental.

magpiedreams · 24/05/2016 20:49

Ah dobby you sound busy! Roll on sofa-Friday.

dom don't you have loads of bathrooms?! I'm sure I remember some nesting bathroom cleaning chat! May hike the fee if a cleaner for you Wink. Mine is similar to me, cleans 3 bed house with 2 bathrooms, kitchen diner and 2 reception rooms, spends about 3 hours but comes weekly. currently stays longer chatting and cooing over DS2 if I'm home Hoovers, dusts, cleans Windows, mops, kitchens and bathrooms gleam. Does the oven and fridge periodically too. Do it!!

DomesticAnarchist · 24/05/2016 21:01

Well remembered magpie! 3 bed house with 3 bathrooms (well, main, en suite and cloakroom).

Might have to start off weekly, given how filthy we seem to be. Blush A cleaner would definitely be cheaper than me working part time to do it myself (and even then I probably wouldn't - as evidenced by the maternity leave filth!)

Timetogrowup2016 · 24/05/2016 21:04

Just a quick post before I try and sleep.
To all the recommendations about trying a sling.
I got sent one from a lovely member on here and I just tried c in it and she fell asleep I'm a second.
If the weather is nice tomorrow I can't wait to for a walk with it.

DomesticAnarchist · 24/05/2016 22:03

Excellent news time! Slings and carriers are amazing!

Swearwolf · 24/05/2016 22:20

That's brilliant news time!

Very jealous of all this cleaner talk, I'd bloody love a cleaner. We're packed into a two bed flat with no storage though, so it's way too cluttered in here... simultaneously the reason we need a cleaner and the reason we couldn't have one.

S had her casts off yesterday. She was supposed to be recast for another week but she was so distressed by the lady taking them off, and one of them had rubbed her big toe raw, that they decided not to. The physio was really happy with her feet, she just wanted to overcorrect them with another week to make up for any amount of reverting, so we'll see how they are in a week and maybe get the casts put back on. I'm exercising them so damn hard to try and avoid that!

Good luck with the booster dobby, my ds was fine with it, he was focused on the chocolate buttons! We've got jabs rescheduled for Thursday, not looking forward to it.

MrsElls · 24/05/2016 22:30

Ah that's brilliant time and so lovely to see people who haven't ever met in rl helping each other out, restores your faith and all that!

swear great news about the casts (other than the sore toe!). Fx everyone is as pleased when you go back next week.

Purpleprickles · 24/05/2016 22:32

Swear great news about the casts coming off. That seems to have gone really quick but probably not to you and S.

Time great news-long may the sling continue.

We have my parents visiting, I'm so happy to have them here. E also did lots of cooing and smiling showing off for them. I have a cleaner too, she has been with us for years so though it's not really financially justifiable whilst on mat leave we don't want to mess her about. She makes my house lovely and sparkly and does 3 hours a week in our three bed.

docmcstuffins1 · 25/05/2016 06:05

Great news time! Oliver has most of his enforced naps in his sling. If I can see him getting overtired and he refuses to nap I pop him in and either go out for a walk, or just potter around the house with him in it. I would love a cleaner, my sister in law used to clean for us but she rudely got a job so had to stop.

Paperblank · 25/05/2016 07:25

Morning!!

If I didn't know better I'd swear I was pregnant.... I am having the strangest dreams. I always had strange dreams but the one I've been having this week ate very odd!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 25/05/2016 07:30

Jealous of everyones cleaners... we've discussed getting one but our house is really messy/cluttered so I'm not sure how they would clean it!

Great news on the sling time! And fingers crossed the casts stay off swear!

Terrible night here, poor DD2 is really struggling with this cold and is very snuffly. she had reasonable sleeps from 7-11.30 and then slept till 2.45 but woke at 4.30 and has been awake on/off ever since snuffling and struggling to breath. Ended up co sleeping with her so that I could doze.

TheMshipIsBack · 25/05/2016 09:08

Colds here too, must be something doing the rounds. DS has been sniffy all week and last night it became obvious that both DH and I were coming down with it. T's fine so far, thank goodness. We're having a bed morning, T nursing and dozing while I surf kitchen renovations. My promotion came through a few weeks ago and we decided to bite the bullet and get the kitchen redone. It's currently got a weird corner oven and hob, and not enough storage for a serious cook, let alone all the bloody plastic stuff little kids require! Thinking of doing a wall oven - I used my mum's last year when we visited (overseas) and it was really handy. Very envious of all the cleaners!

Timetogrowup2016 · 25/05/2016 09:11

Morning.
We had a shit night again but to be honest i think I just have to accept that's the way it is now. It's not going to get better is it?
I can't work out the sling this morning. My oh helped last night.
I spent an hour trying this morning and I can't seem to do it. Baby cried. I cried and we both got in a right state. Don't know where I'm going so wrong with all this I really don't. Things are meant to get better? Their getting worse.
I can't get her to nap and my eyes are stinging are my legs aching from all the walking I did yesterday to. I really don't want to go out but I guess I'll have to. But she wakes up the second I walk into a shop or stand at the traffic lights. It's so annoying. She can be sleeping so deeply and then I stop and ping. The baby is an over tired mess every day come the evening and I can't stop it. Nothing's working.

Aibu to think " what the fuck have I done with my life?" . Gosh that sounds awful. I love her so much but I can't do this. I can't physically live like this.
I am so close to picking up the phone to my boss and asking to arrange a meeting about going back to work because I think I need to. At least that way the time I do have with her I will enjoy.

Sorry I'm so " me me me " . I just can't think straight this morning.

Swear- great about the casts :)

TheMshipIsBack · 25/05/2016 09:51

time if you've ever seen me with T in her carrier, you'd probably laugh as I keep bouncing gently when I stop walking. It must look ridiculous. I also have to whip off her hat when we go indoors, she's so temperature sensitive. Can your oh take C for a walk in the sling this evening, give you an hour off? There's nothing wrong with going back to work. Sort a child minder or do opposite shifts to your oh, and feel no guilt. It's still all about survival when they're this little, and you do what works for you.

docmcstuffins1 · 25/05/2016 09:59

Time sorry if I'm stating the obvious but have you looked at YouTube for video demos of how to put the sling on? I had to watch one every time I wanted to put O in the sling for the first few weeks until I got the hang of it DH still can't do it on his own now!

Getting my Mirena coil fitted today, feeling very nervous about it as the first one I had was awful and painful, but it should be easier now I've pushed a baby out of there right?

Timetogrowup2016 · 25/05/2016 10:00

Thank you.
I try to rock the pram when I've stopped walking but it doesn't work haha.
My oh does so much for me already. His so shattered to and is falling asleep on his lunch breaks at work. His truly amazing at helping but I wish I could give him a break in the evenings but I so stressed by that point it's impossible.
The thing with work is I don't want to regret if in a few months it's all so much better and more rewarding. I need to think about it though.
Off to get c weighed today, then I'll go for a latte in a coffee shop somewhere I think and go along the sea front. I'm so tired but a screaming baby never seems as hard to deal with outside than it does stuck between four walls does it?

Timetogrowup2016 · 25/05/2016 10:01

Yes I tried several different videos but got so stressed. It was so easy with my oh last night and she fell right asleep so I know it works.
His off work all next week and I'm hoping it'll give me a week to re set my self and see things more clearly.

DomesticAnarchist · 25/05/2016 10:18

Morning all,

We had a 4-feed night again so I'm planning another sofa day today. Perhaps with more tidying this time!

What type of sling is it, time? Have you looked up videos on YouTube? (Oops, doc got there before me!)

I felt like you with DS1. I'd had enough and wanted to go back to work by 12 weeks. It did get better! And it will for you, I promise.

I also do the bouncing with the carrier on. And rocking, and swaying. And then I realise I haven't actually got the carrier on! (This persisted for years, by the way. I'd find myself swaying at the front of the classroom at times!)

doc, just lie back and think of labour! As I recall it did hurt, but nothing like labour!

Me624 · 25/05/2016 10:46

Time just practise a few more times with the sling when OH is there to help. I used to have to get my DH to help me put it on and get DS in but once I'd done it 5 or 6 times I could do it by myself and got quicker and quicker every time.

You must do what's right for you but I wouldn't hurry back to work - you can't get maternity leave back again and if I remember rightly Calais is almost 3 months on her corrected age which is when I think it starts to get a lot better for a lot of babies.

We had a very unsettled night too, poor DS was very snuffly so I wonder if he's fighting a cold. Not a lot of sleep for me! I long for the day when he goes in his own room and I hopefully get to sleep a bit better!
