We are at my Mum's in France. But it gives the kids lots of English exposure so it's good for them to hear it being used around them - although obviously not outside the house Wink

DH would plan on coming here for them to see Grandma and have fun and learn a bit of French etc. But we need more relaxing time. We might look into the cost of a holiday with some sort of childcare included. We'd just really like a rest. The kids are great but they are not easy going kids.
Coming here is as close as we really get to any family support at the moment.

MrsNutella · 23/07/2016 11:12

DH doesn't like to see this servant behaviour either - it's one his parents have modelled for his entire life - but he is capable of occasionally slipping into a bit of it if it suits him.

Oh, and DD has pretty much toilet trained. Since she decided a few weeks back she wanted to wear pants.

WreckTangled · 23/07/2016 17:56

Oh dear Nutella I would hate that too. Well done to dd!

Ds just ate cucumber and pepper!! He's usually a veg refuser, will eat sweet fruits and cherry tomatoes only so I'm really pleased. I didn't say anything to him though.

WreckTangled · 23/07/2016 19:22

Then he weed down the slide. Ffs.

GeoffreysGoat · 23/07/2016 19:59

Sorry Wreck but 😂😂😂

We're off to peppa Pig World tomorrow. Haven't been before despite proximity. R only knows we're going to the biggest park he's ever been to, that it's bigger than The Big Park and if he behaves we'll go to McDonald's on the way home :o

Justin Fletcher will be there too. I'm dreading it, detest crowds!

WreckTangled · 23/07/2016 20:10

It was in the playground and then he went down the slide. Honestly my children are trying to ruin me.

Oh we've been there a couple of times. Get there for about 15 mins before it opens and go straight to PPW. You'll beat the main crowds if you do that. I'm sure you will but definitely take a picnic with you as the only food options are rubbish. R will be tall enough to go on almost everything in the park.

GeoffreysGoat · 23/07/2016 20:23

Thanks. We're going with the boys' godmother, picking her up at 9:30. It's a 30 minute trip and she's not an early riser... I figure with JF around it'll just be hell lol

WreckTangled · 23/07/2016 20:29

Yep Grin well it opens at ten so you shouldn't be too bad. Although there's a big car boot on near it on Sunday's so traffic gets pretty heavy although you might go in from the other side to us

GeoffreysGoat · 23/07/2016 21:17

Nah, I'll sneak up the old road ;)

GeoffreysGoat · 24/07/2016 19:34

It was busier early doors! Think a lot of folk did pp first to keep the toddler happy then went off with the big ones to do the rest of it. Was actually not too bad by 12, queues maybe 20 minutes but R was a star and just chatted with me/godmum

WLmum · 24/07/2016 22:03

Glad it was ok goat we're off there later in the holidays having sworn I wouldn't do theme parks anymore - crowds and queuing hell. Sigh.
wreck T wee'd on the ground at Wisley today - friends ds said he needed a wee - we pointed him to a big bush, T said she needed a wee, I said I would take her behind the bush, she said she didn't want to go there, lifted her dress and pee'd right there and then! Obvs she had taken her knickers off earlier and refused to have them back on. Feeling your pain!
Dm is doing OK - bloods are much better, just needs a stable temp and she'll be allowed home.

halestone · 25/07/2016 09:29

WL i have my FX your mum has a stable temp and can come home soon. I hope your ok Flowers

Wrecked that made me giggle, especially him coming down the slide afterwards.

Goat, i'm glad R enjoyed PPW.

Nutella, that would frustrate me as well, i hope you find somewhere you can relax also.

1st proper day of the hols and i have promised the girls they can cook. Now i have to figure out what to cook, i'm thinking biscuits.

WLmum · 25/07/2016 10:54

hales nigella banana and chocolate muffins are super easy for kids

halestone · 25/07/2016 14:56

WL i think that might be tomorrows recipe as i have some bananas that need using and that would be a great idea for them. We made fairy cakes. They look good but the kids can only have them if they eat there tea. i know evil mum

GeoffreysGoat · 25/07/2016 19:00

Thanks for the tip wl

I'malways that mum hales Blush

WreckTangled · 25/07/2016 19:08

My dc had a slush puppy today for the first time ever. My friend was Shock that I'm 'so strict' with their diet. Even more Shock that they've never tried candy floss Grin

WLmum · 25/07/2016 19:09

Me too - was broccoli before ice cream (special treat) tonight!

GeoffreysGoat · 25/07/2016 20:24

We had ice lollies. Frozen fruit puree. R was tremendously excited! He had candyfloss a few weeks ago for the first time. I daren't give him slush, still reeling from The able Ice Lolly Incident two years ago 😨

MrsNutella · 25/07/2016 22:02

Able ice cream goat?

DS is allowed ice cream and ice lolly type things (fruit lollies - absolutely no chocolate) and the occasional bit of haribo - mostly gummi Bears. At the moment he is having ice cream pretty much every day. When DD wakes from her nap they have an ice cream/ lolly for their afternoon tea. But that is generally their only sweet treat for the day, and we are on holiday.

DD seems to have come on enormously with her language. She can sing all of twinkle twinkle - it's really quite sweet. But tonight she was standing in her cot shouting "I need the toilet" which was basically her master plan to get out of bed, get attention and cuddles with mummy Angry cheeky madam!!

WLmum · 25/07/2016 22:43

Aha Nutella she's smart - she's worked out that even though you know she's fibbing, you'll never take the chance! She sounds adorable.

MrsNutella · 26/07/2016 06:48

Goat Sorry, able ice lolly incident.... Can you tell us about that?

WL you could say adorable but I think Madam President might be more appropriate Confused

GeoffreysGoat · 26/07/2016 13:10

Ffs. The Blue Ice Lolly Incident

A couple of years ago dh took him to the park on a hot day. Let him choose his own lolly in the shop, he chose the fluorescent one, as small children do.

That following week was hell. His sleep fell apart; he threw enormous screaming tantrums over nothing (R usually has some kind of obvious trigger); he watched the same 4 episodes of Thomas on a loop, having had quite eclectic taste; he pinched one friend and pushed another, the only time I've ever known him be deliberately aggressive; he was stroppy and argumentative and melodramatic and overemotional and just utterly vile. Once the sweeteners and colourings were out of his system he returned to his normal sunny disposition, and I'm still living in fear of him going through the biting/hitting stage!

MrsNutella · 26/07/2016 13:55

Geoffrey ahhhh totally understand! That's exactly how DS is after certain colourings. Blue colouring (which are often in a popular green flavour and cola flavoured things here - not that DS knows what cola is Wink) seems to be the worst.

We are usually fairly strict. I think all the ice cream on holiday is having a detrimental effect at the the moment and it's making him prone to being easily overtired.... But otherwise he seems ok. I'm looking forward to a return to "normal" though.

GeoffreysGoat · 26/07/2016 14:19

He's bad if he has squash too, even Ribena! I'm the horrible evil mum that won't let him have a fruit shoot. It's not worth the behaviour the next day. Luckily my dad and I both react to sweeteners too so can normalise it somewhat.

R doesn't know what cola is either, neither dh nor I drink much fizzy apart from the grape based variety although dh did get some funny looks in the pub with him recently, sharing a Stella glass of appletise 😉

WLmum · 26/07/2016 22:29

Dm is home - yay!

Dd1 is 9 and never had any fizzy drinks! Top trump!
