I was just sat here thinking that some of our early September babies, who were born in August, will be starting school in the next week or so. Indeed if we have any Scottish families (?) they've already started school.

Oh my gosh, where did the time go?!

My DD has another full year at nursery before full time school. Mind you, aside from her afternoon sleeps (she still naps most days) she would be ready for full time now.

I've used the last two terms when DD first started nursery to focus on myself for the first time in more than a decade. I've used the 3h child free time I get each morning to become healthy - plan healthy meals and exercise. I'm now 7 stone down since 1st January 2018 and at the weekend I did a 10 miles (16k) run for the first time.

7 stone down is amazing, I've only managed 2! DS won't hit 4 for another few weeks so will be staying in nursery. Our nursery and reception year are mixed this year due to some changes so the teacher has said that some stuff will be done based on the child's ability rather than age. He is staying part time for a bit but will start staying for lunch very soon.

We are definitely sticking with just one child, everyone's decision is different and this works for us.

We have finally, finally ditched the bloody dummy, there was a successful haircut last week and 5am starts are thankfully now few and far between! He is getting quite boisterous now with play fighting and acting out TV programs that he has seen. So much more fun now!

Wow, all of our little ones must either just had or planning their 4th birthdays - I can't believe how quickly it has gone!!!

DD has another year until school starts, but I think she would be very happy starting now. It's such a shame they can't start earlier really. She does love pre-school, but I worry she's going to get bored as the year moves on.

FATE - 10k - you're amazing!!! And polka - 2 stone is also impressive. Flowers

I've not managed to actually lose any weight, but I have started trying to get fit and exercise, and I can see the difference in my body.

Oh WooW @FATEdestiny , that's brilliant ; 10 miles run, ha? I would love to be able to do that just don't know where to start ... I am doing some light exercises after work currently and go swimming twice a week; I can feel how unfit I am with this little exercise ... on weight I only need to lose 4-6 pounds to get to the weight I'd love and my BMI is healthy; I lost the pregnancy weight a while back with a very strict but brief diet and since then I have been trying to eat healthy - but honestly, being fit which requires quite a bit of exercise is just something else ... and I wish I could do that

@Polkadotdelight I really do envy everybody who has closed out the decision of staying with one kid or going for more, just that decision making process in itself is being hard ; on one hand I am quite happy and have a lovely life now with one kid and the thought of going through all the challenges again gives me a headache ; on the other hand I just would love DS to have a sibling as we don't have family in this country and he will be lonely if we decide not to go for the next
I am also quite wary of the risks of having a kid in older ages ...
So don't really know where to go from here ...

Hello everyone.

Good to see this thread is still alive!

I've just had another little boy, born 3 weeks ago. A is quite jealous but also quite loving to him at the same time. I'm struggling with sleep deprivation as it's been a while since I had to do middle of the night feeds haha. But it is totally worth it.

A missed out on starting school this year, but I think he is probably ready! It's a shame really but he will love it when he goes next year.

Nazly · 09/09/2018 22:56

Aaaaww many congratulations @CumbrianExile Thankshow was the birth ?

CumbrianExile · 11/09/2018 01:50

Thanks Nazly. Birth was ok, ended up in theatre for forcep delivery but it went as well as it could given the need for forceps. DS had an infection though, so we were kept in hospital for a week so he could get antibiotics, that wasn't fun, especially as DS1 didn't understand why I wasn't at home.

TeamEponine · 18/10/2018 09:44

Massive congrats Cumbrian!!!

DD also missed out on school, and I think she would have been very ready, but she's loving pre-school, so all is fine.

Zanashar · 09/04/2019 20:07

How has your DS settled into school. We’re a week away from school place decisions here and I’m all 🙈 about it.
Ds2 is a 2yo now!
How is everyone else doing?

Zanashar · 09/04/2019 20:07

Ooooh! Congratulations Cumbrian!

Polkadotdelight · 13/04/2019 19:30

Ooooh I was just thinking about resurrecting this thread!

How is everyone doing! DS is doing full days at school but only 4 says a week although that will be going up very soon. It isn't the norm I know but it's worked for our circumstances. He isn't the biggest fan of school and he's very excited to have just started Easter holidays! I have to say that apart from the occasional strop he is very easy at the moment. I've jinxed it haven't I.......!

FATEdestiny · 11/09/2019 10:57

I thought id look up this thread as our children all start school. A big, big step.

My DD is loving it, I hope everyone else's LO is too?

Thinking of you all...

Polkadotdelight · 14/10/2019 20:45

I think everyone has disappeared! School is going very well and I am extremely relieved!

CumbrianExile · 26/10/2019 22:33

I'm still lurking!

School is going well here too. But he is developing a real attitude. Answering back, eye rolling, smirking when being told off. It's all fun 😡

FATEdestiny · 05/12/2019 17:13

My daughter's first proper nativity play next week Xmas Smile
