We bought a caravan so never have to take two under 5 through a airport the though sends Shivers down my spine lol

So I'm in a pickle

Number 3 yes or no

I'm 38 this year robert will be 3 in September and william 1 in August and can't decide if I should go for number 3

It would need to be because of my age and I'd like to keep ages close but I'm I crazy

I had bad pgp like really bad so how will cope

Also is 3 under 5 just a nightmare

Any thoughts

CumbrianExile · 08/05/2017 16:42

We have a haven holiday booked, not until September though. Can't wait!

Hope you had a good weekend Fate with the Brownies.

Daytona I think if you really want another go for it (although I don't think 38 is too old!). It's a lot to think about but if both you and DH want it why not?!

Nazly · 10/05/2017 19:59

Daytona I agree with Cumbrian on that
Also are you being serious 38 is very young I am 40 and planning another one maybe next year !!

I have no comments about 4 under 5 though ; I think it very much depends on your other 2 too, ds is a sort of child that can not sit still for two seconds
He keeps being a trouble for as long as he is awake ; does whatever we tell him not to do 10 more times, and doesn't really listen to us much
I have to say despite that he is a delightful kid cause he laughs at everything and anything and just makes people around him happy
Having one more with him is a lot of trouble , having two at the same time as him seems impossible to me ... if his character was a bit calmer it would be different
So I guess everybody is different
And people have different abilities too
I would be useless in controlling 3 and even perhaps 2 for that matter ! I sometimes feel useless with one

Nazly · 10/05/2017 20:01

Oh and Fate hope you had a food holiday
What is brownies holiday ?

DH has to go to California in August for work
My sister lives there
So we are thinking of tagging along - that is if our finances allows

Nazly · 12/05/2017 18:52

Good holiday not food holiday BlushCake

FATEdestiny · 12/05/2017 21:30

Brownies are part of Girlguiding, for girls aged 7-10 years old. Brownie Pack Holuday is when you take the whole group of girls away on a residential trip. We went Fri-Sun last weekend. It's a voluntary thing I do. Tiring, but lots of fun!

I had DC4 aged 38 Daytona79, I say hi for it! I didn't have 3 under 5 at any point though. When DC3 was born I had a 4 year old (part time nursery) and a 5 year old (full time school).

I had a friend who had DC1 and DC2 with a 1 year age gap, like me. Then went on to have DC3 with another 1y age gap - 3 children under 2 Shock

I can't imagine how hectic the toddler years must have been. But she now has children aged 12, 11 and 10. I often see then about at sport and school things - it's so much easier when they are close in age. Much more difficult to keep children of very different ages all entertained.

KitKat1985 · 16/05/2017 11:32

Hi all.

Thanks for your messages. My Dad died a couple of weeks ago now and funeral is on Thursday. Going to be a hard day but I'm lucky I have DH and the DDs to lift my mood.

Daytona I say go for it. It sounds like it's what you really want. Yes it'll be hard but it's better than regretting that you never did it.

How did the Brownie break go Fate?

As for holidays here, we're going to Dorset next month for a caravan break. It's not too far for us (about 2 and a half hours if you did it as a straight drive, but we'll probably stop halfway so the girls can stretch their legs). We've also booked to go to Lanzarote in Feb for some winter sun. It's a good time for us to go really as it's cheaper and DD2 will be 15 months by then, and so we don't have the hassle of worrying about sterilising and formula etc by then as she'll be on cows milk. Not looking forward to the 4 hour flight with a 15 month and 3 year old though!

polkadotdelight · 16/05/2017 20:39

Oh kitkat I'm sorry.

We are on our caravan holiday and the weather is atrocious.....

TeamEponine · 17/05/2017 14:21

Kitkat I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

We have two holidays planned this summer, one will be a two hour flight and the other four hours. We've flown with DD a few times now, and it has gone relatively well, so I'm not too worried. Far easier without having to deal with nappies, although the flushing on airplane toilets scared the living crap out of her!

I think we might need to move onto a proper bed and quilt soon. Yesterday DD managed to get herself out of her sleeping bag, and on another occasion she learned she can climb out of the cot without the sleeping bag on. I'm just waiting for her to put two and two together, and realise that she can just get out of her sleeping bag, climb out of the cot, and be free! Shock

FATEdestiny · 17/05/2017 17:02

Oh no Polka, I hope the weather improves for you. If it's any consolation, I remember many a wet holiday from my childhood - they are the stuff of memories and character building, I say.

I hope tomorrow goes ok KitKat and your Dad gets a nice send off. I am so sorry for your loss Flowers We went to The Canaries in February this year, lovely weather.

Team - you could always try a centre-zip sleeping bag and put it on backwards?

CumbrianExile · 18/05/2017 13:20

[Thanks] KitKat, hope today goes ok.

Hope the weather is improving Polka, and that you have a good holiday!

California sounds amazing Nazly, hope you manage to fund it.

CumbrianExile · 18/05/2017 13:21

Sorry, that should be Flowers to KitKat - didn't realise they had changed it!

FATEdestiny · 24/05/2017 12:45

Teething molars here. It's horrendous. Her first set of molars cutting were the worst 4 consecutive nights sleep I've had in her life. Different this time, less intense but dragging on. Two nights with her in the cot in our room, but been slightly better the last couple of days. Not over it yet though.

It's breaking my heart now she is teething while having well developed language. She's able to explain how she feels in a way she never could before.

Mummy my mouth hurts soooo much
oh my teeeeeth
I can't eat this because it's hurting me.
I'm hungry but eating hurts
Mummy the medicine isn't making it better
Ouch! Oww it REALLY hurts a lot Mummy
I'm tired, make it stop hurting now

Sad

I feel so bad for her. Even with the maximum dose of everything I could give, she had 2 really horrible days. She appears to be over the worst now, but it's not stopped hurting fully.

I can feel the spikes of all four second set of molars, so with a bit of luck they'll all be fully through soon and this horrid pain will be over for her.

polkadotdelight · 24/05/2017 21:45

Oh love her. We have one molar partly through, I saw it one day last week when I was tickling him but he won't let me put my finger in to feel. He has only complained of pain once but I can tell by his behaviour when his teeth are giving him trouble. Poor little things, it's no fun for them.

CumbrianExile · 24/05/2017 22:49

Oh bless her fate, hope they come through soon and her pain stops soon.

KitKat1985 · 25/05/2017 20:42

Oh that's heart-breaking Fate. Sad How is she now?

Tomorrow I think we're going to break out the paddling pool and ice pops. How are you all planning to cope with the hot weather?

FATEdestiny · 25/05/2017 21:11

We got the paddling pool out today. DDog had just as much fun in it as DD did!

She is much better today. She's not back to normal, but much happier than she was. I haven't braved a feel of her teeth so I'm not sure if they are fully through or have just paused in pushing through for a bit.

CumbrianExile · 27/05/2017 14:04

Ah Fate you inspired us to get the paddling pool out this morning. I think I ended up wetter than A, he had a great time splashing around Grin

Hope your DD is feeling back to normal with her teeth.

Daytona79 · 02/06/2017 08:13

Anyone have a non stop screaming toddler.. robert has started doing a high pitches scream every time you remotely ask him to do anything or tell him no

It's driving me bonkers

He was behaving really well but just this last two weeks seems to have started on major meltdown mode

TeamEponine · 02/06/2017 08:24

Yup! DD has started to just scream when she wants something. She's very "emotional" and can cry at the drop of a hat! She is trying to explain and justify it afterwards though, which is kind of sweet...

I think I was thirsty and wanted my milk. I think that was the problem.

I think I was missing daddy. I think that was the problem.

I'm tired and wanted my dummy. I think that was the problem.

She's also started to discover some words that she's not always using correctly... Realise, easily and direction are all frequently used at the moment!

When she's not having a meltdown, she's really lovely at the moment. The meltdowns are very trying though.

KitKat1985 · 02/06/2017 21:13

Yes we're having a lot more tantrums and bad behaviour at the moment. Her language is still quite behind compared to some of your ladies so sometimes she doesn't even explain what she's having a tantrum over, so it can be frustrating!

How are you pregnant ladies doing?

I know it's still 3 months away, but have any of you ladies put any thought into what you are getting your DDs / DSs for their 3rd birthday? We were thinking of getting DD a bike with stabilisers as she's obsessed with bikes, but not sure if she's too small yet. I was also debating (because I'm clearly mad) about getting her some sort of pet as she loves animals (we only have fish right now, so no cuddly pets).

Daytona79 · 02/06/2017 22:58

We have bought Roberts already we got him a 2nd hand Islabike With pedals no stabilisers as he is ready to go straight to a bike

We bought him the Islabike rothan balance bike for his 2nd bike and he is awesome on it now. He can fly down hills, feet up all the way, he can use the brake easily, and he can pedal as he has a go kart so he ready to just go straight on a normal bike

Here he is on them , he wears a full face helmet now as just full pelt on the bike all the time and he has had two bad falls and ended up in hospital with one, he was ok the red helmet did its job luckily. but try slowing a over confident 2 year old down. So we switched him to a full face helmet just for extra protection.

Daytona79 · 02/06/2017 23:02

Kit Kat I would get her a rothan by Islabike you get them 2nd for around £80

Give her a year on that till she super comfident and using brakes etc then for her 4th birthday I'd move her straight to the Islabike cnoc14 - and skip stabilisers altogether

You get a 2nd hand cnoc for between £140 - £200

TeamEponine · 03/06/2017 06:39

DD is advanced with her language, but behind on motor stuff. She's only just learned to jump, and she still can't quite manage the scooter! I can't imagine she will be ready for a bike by September.

We have decided to change her cot into a bed around her birthday though. We have two trips away planned over the summer, and want to keep her in a cot for those. But once we are back from the second trip, it's big girls bed time!

Daytona79 · 03/06/2017 08:19

2nd birthday that should say not 2nd bike

Robert still sleeps in our bed, and shows no sign of moving

We did buy him a big plastic shaped Thomas's tank engine bed but never managed to get him to stay in it for more than a few hours, he would scream and cry he was scared of dark & shadows and I'm a wimp and couldn't let him be upset so he just sleeps with us still.

Me him husband and baby William all in one bed thank god it's a super king :-)

We have decided when William is 2 and Robert 4 we will move them both to same room into bunk beds. If robert asks to move himself before then fine he can but I'm very much doubting he will, he too attached to "mummy's bed"
