Kitkat - I wonder if she was stealing it something like that? That would lead to immediate dismissal. If it was anything child protection related you would have been told.

DD has a stinking cold at the moment. I am going to get the flu vaccine for her, just waiting for her to be well again first. I have been pondering the fact it's a nasal spray. I'm not sure DD would understand an instruction to "sniff", like suck air in through the nose, when they do the spray.

I (finally) have her 2 year hv check tomorrow. Will be the first time I've seen a hv since she was about 20w old Blush

FATEdestiny · 19/10/2016 20:55

Oh, didn't see your post there on the next page GreenSofa.

cookielove · 23/10/2016 11:54

The cut off is random, my friend has a little boy who was 2 on the 15th if Sept he got the flu, my other friends was 2 on the 22nd and he dosn't get it!

FATEdestiny · 23/10/2016 14:14

My 7 year old has bought a letter home from school saying he needs to get the flu immunisation. So when I book him in, I'll ask about youngest.

First World Problems: it's a nightmare finding places for all the cards when you have 4 family birthdays within 2 weeks! 😄🎁

Love that picture FATE!

DS is full of cold here, currently asleep on my lap which doesn't bode well for tonight. I'm having my flu jab at work tomorrow but hadn't really thought about getting DS done. We took him out earlier when he was feeling brighter and he had everyone in stitches - he was telling older children on a climbing frame to be careful and not bang their heads! I didn't realise I said it that often!

TeamEponine · 24/10/2016 09:58

Happy birthday FATE, and to the mini-FATEs who have September and October birthdays.

Polka - it's so funny how sometimes you hear them just parroting back what you've said to them. DDs current favourite is, when asked if I can do or have something, she replies "course you can". It's really funny the way she says it. Ever so slightly patronising! Grin

We are currently in gold star hell! To help with potty training we've been giving DD a gold star every time she does a wee or poo in the toilet. She's now decided that everyone in the house needs a gold star every time they go to the loo! We all went out this weekend covered in them Grin

Kitkat - any update from the nursery?

TeamEponine · 24/10/2016 18:25

It's funny the things you get sentimental about. Earlier I realised that I won't be buying nappies again. For a moment I wished that I'd realised that when I was buying the final pack of nappies so that I could have somehow marked that moment. Funny, really!

CumbrianExile · 26/10/2016 09:40

Haha Team loving the image of you going out covered in gold stars Grin

I was looking at A earlier, gabbling away to himself and laughing and thought I was going to burst with pride. Then I tried to get his coat on for nursery and we had a mini tantrum!

I got told a funny tale of A's antics yesterday and it still makes me giggle. He has a pair of trousers that are a little big on waist and kept falling down, he also is in Morrisons nappies with the elephant on the front. When ever his trousers fell he would pull his vest to once side and point to the nappy and shout 'elphan'. Although it made me laugh, it as also made me a little sad that I missed it.

jaykay34 · 26/10/2016 21:16

I've not posted on this thread for a while, so am really happy to drop in and see it's still going !
Just had a catch up on some previous posts, it's amazing how quick our little ones are growing up.
Happy belated birthday to all of the "babies".

Still no potty training here but we seen to be in track with everything else. J is a very smiley, sociable and boisterous little boy who loves cars, climbing and numbers.

I'm quite enjoying his toddler days - perhaps because I know he's my last, and he is so much easier than the twins. (My twins are now teenagers, so I think his tantrums pale into insignificance compared to some of the dramas my eldest two bring home Grin.)

J is so cute jay!

No potty training here yet either. I don't think she's quite ready yet though would like to get it done before new baby comes but will have to see. Still 5.5 months to go so lots can change in that time!

Team - your DD must be doing very well with potty training not to be buying nappies anymore!

KitKat - when is your due date? I think it's soon?!

TeamEponine · 31/10/2016 08:41

Happy Halloween! 👻🕷🎃

We still have a few nappies left as I bulk buy, but she only has them for nights. We have some pull ups, which she will start wearing for nights, and we stick one on for long journeys or if we are going somewhere with unknown toilet facilities. She really freaks out at the sound of loud hand driers, so even if there are toilets, she may not use them! Carry a potty everywhere now!

Here is ds in his Halloween costume!

We are so no where near even offering the potty lol!

TeamEponine · 01/11/2016 15:29

Cookie - that costume is awesome!!! Grin

CumbrianExile · 01/11/2016 20:22

Fab costumes! We didn't dress A up, he doesn't seem to like fancy dress at the moment. I suspect we will have screaming at Santa again at Christmas Grin

KitKat1985 · 02/11/2016 13:30

Hello again all!

Some very cute Halloween pictures there ladies! We didn't dress DD up for Halloween but she was rather intrigued by the trick or treaters. I made the somewhat stupid mistake of giving her a funsize milky-way when I gave some out to trick or treaters and then she got the idea that knocks on the door = chocolate, so started knocking in the door herself, seemingly in the hope that more chocolate would appear! Smile

Team I love that your DD has been giving you a gold star each time you go to the toilet! No I never heard anything again from the nursery as to why her other keyworker was fired, which I'm hoping was a good thing in the sense that I guess they would have had to have told us if it was related to child protection or similar in some way.

Still no successful potty training here, despite a brief bash at it. I've decided to wait a while and follow her lead. Most of the other things she's learnt (using cutlery, beakers, etc) she's learnt from watching other children / adults do and then start copying them in her own time, so I'm reasonably confident that in a few months she might 'get the idea' from other children in her nursery group. If she's still clueless in a few months time I'll give it ago next spring when the weather gets warm enough for her to run around bare bottomed again! Realistically we're going to be very distracted by the new baby for the next few months anyway. I'm over 36 weeks now so technically this baby could turn up as early as next week (!) although late this month seems more likely. How are you other ladies with bumps getting on?

DD has this bad habit at the moment of excitedly kicking her legs all over the place, especially when I'm trying to do nappy changes or get her ready for bed, and she keeps kicking me (and bump) in the stomach. I've tried telling her off firmly and saying no, but she just seems to find that really funny and do it all the more. Any ideas?

I tried phoning my GP surgery again today to see if I could get DD the nasal flu vaccine and they said they still don't have it in stock, which seems a bit bizarre to me since the NHS campaign for it has been going on for several weeks now. Confused

TeamEponine · 04/11/2016 11:14

Ok, so we've had a really rough 24 hours. I think DD has been possessed. She has had three meltdowns that are unlike anything I've ever witnessed before, in any child. It is so unlike her, and I just have no idea what is going on or how to deal with it. I'm actually scared to pick her up from nursery today. Spoke to one of the nursery workers for ages earlier, and she was really helpful, but I'm seriously worried. What has happened to my lovely little girl?

KitKat1985 · 04/11/2016 11:25

Hey Team. What is it she is doing? Is she just screaming or is she hitting out etc?

TeamEponine · 04/11/2016 12:42

It's like a switch is flicked, and she just suddenly flips out. Screaming, throwing herself around, kicking, hitting. I couldn't do anything, I just had to leave her to it until she finally started sobbing where I think she was actually scared of herself and out of control. It's just so unlike her, and I don't know how to deal with it Sad

There's been no changes to routine or anything, so signs of illness, no teething, no late nights or missing naps. I just don't understand. And three in less than 24 hours has left me really shaken.

I mean, she's had tantrum before, but I've been able to deal with them and they don't last too long. This is just something else.

FATEdestiny · 04/11/2016 12:45

Maybe she's just poorly Team? Hope she's in a better mood soon though.

Oh my God at your baby being officially "due" now Shock. Was DD1 late or early? How was your birth first time around and have you any different plans this time?

I'm really excited for you! Grin

We gave out 80 bags of sweets on Monday evening. Ours is a magnet area for
Trick or Treaters since lots of the houses are dressed up for Halloween. I went trick or treating with the youngest two (dd2 ds7) and a neighbours children. Our eldest two went unaccompanied but were close by to me anyway. All-in-all 4 children came home with far more than 80 bags of sweets altogether - more than I bought to give out!

Vast quantities of sweets and chocolates eaten in our house this week. But then, it's what trick or treating us all about and it's only once a year so what the hell.

I'm low on ideas for DDs Christmas present. What are you all getting?

TeamEponine · 04/11/2016 14:10

Nothing seems poorly about her, but perhaps. Even when she's had tantrums before due to illness or tiredness, it has been nothing like these three. I'm just hoping she's ok this evening.

Wow, in my shitty mood, I totally missed the imminent arrival of baby KitKat - how exciting!

We didn't go trick or treating. I think DD is still a little too young. But next year we will. She did love the pumpkin carving though.

Sounds like you have a plentiful supply of sweeties FATE. I'd struggle to not just scoff them all!

FATEdestiny · 04/11/2016 15:01

I am scoffing large quantities! Ha!

I don't know what to suggest with the tantrums Team. I don't want to teach grandma to suck eggs, but have you developed that inane chatter to give predictability?

I'm so used to doing it that it's second nature and I hardly notice now. But my children are all better when they know what's happening, when.

Right from getting up I start with the "this is happening next, then this":

"Peppa pig then breakfast. You'll be having cerial.Apple or orange juice?" (All decicions made before breakfast is even started).

"Time to wake up (after nap). We need to get dressed then fetch your brother from school. Jacket potatoes for tea"

"After we've taken your brother to school today we are going shopping. If you sit nicely in the trolly we will buy a cake for after dinner. Ok?"

That sort of thing.

KitKat1985 · 04/11/2016 18:03

Oh dear Team that sounds really tough to deal with, especially if there's no obvious trigger. Fate's suggestion seems a good one. Maybe she's just having a rough few days. If it continues would it be worth phoning the health visitor and asking for some advice?

Yes I'm quite freaked by the imminent arrival of baby KitKat now! My official due date is 28th November but DD was a few days early so we'll see. First labour was quick (6 hours first contraction to baby) and the midwives have warned it could be half that time second time around, so we have decided to go to the local midwifery unit rather than the consultant-led unit (which is quite a bit further away). Also I have a family history of quick labours (my Mum's first being also 6 hours, and her second was 50 minutes!) so they've had to coach me a bit on what to do in the event of an unplanned home birth..... Ekk! Shock

CumbrianExile · 04/11/2016 21:24

Oh Team that doesn't sound fun. Hope you DD picks up soon.

Wow KitKat your pregnancy seems to have gone really fast! Hope you manage to make it to the midwifery unit and there is no side of the road delivery Grin

To make you laugh, we have finally braved removing the cot sides tonight. I looked in on A 5 minutes ago, and he is flat out in the middle of his bedroom floor! Going well I think Grin

cookielove · 08/11/2016 20:13

Wow kitkat that had come round so quick! Awww soon a new baby :)

team I have the fear too but not with tantrums with meal times. E is no longer eating :(

polkadotdelight · 08/11/2016 20:17

DS threw a massive strop at bedtime tonight. Lovely.

He has also turned into a fussy eater and it's stressing me out trying to get decent food in him.

Exciting times kitkat!
