Unfortunately everyone can understand DD which wasn't great as she shouted 'stop it!' through her entire swimming lesson yesterday. Everything is an absolute task at the moment, every meal, every activity, every outing just consists of epic tantrums! When does it get easier?! Blush

TeamEponine · 30/08/2016 14:16

Oh, I have a good embarassing one!

DD loves watches, but calls them clocks, but misses out the "l". Can you see where this is going...

The other day, as clear as anything... "Daddy got a cock... I not got a cock, Mummy not got a cock" Blush

She also is starting to talk about how she feels, apart from she always says how she is feeling "today" rather than "in this moment". I've had strange looks from people when DD announces very loudly "I not happy today, I sad today". Typically this is in response to something like not wanting her nappy changed, or not being allowed to touch or take something in a shop. She says it with such a pathetic voice that she really sounds forlorn and like she's in a major depressive episode. Two minutes before and two minutes after she will be telling me that "I happy today", but obviously no one is ever around to hear that!

FATE, I do know exactly what you mean, but we are already moving beyond that stage Sad. Two weeks ago we saw mum my and she really needed my translation services. We saw her yesterday and I was not needed!

There are times when she says something, and I just think she's being crazy, to later realise that she was actually trying to tell me something sensible and serious. The other day we were walking down out road, and she kept pointing into a garden telling me about the donkey there! I responded in a "that's nice dear" way, and she got quite irritated that I wasn't all enthusiastic about this bloody donkey. Walking back in the other direction, I could clearly see the large hideous plant pot in the shape of, you guessed it, a donkey!

She also sometimes says stuff, and she clearly has picked it up from me, but I had no idea I say this stuff so often. For example, the other day after changing her nappy, she said "sorted", which I thought was hilarious, and figured she had picked it up at nursery. But I now realise that I do oftern say it when we finish something up. Nappy changed: sorted. Clothes on: sorted. In the pushchair ready to go: sorted.

It's like having a mirror in front of you sometimes. Although DD looks absolutely nothing like me in any way at all.

Does anyone else have a little one who looks nothing like them? It's strange. When I imagined what our daughter would look like, it is nothing at all like how she is. She is a total clone of DMIL, and doesn't look like me at all!

LillyBugg · 30/08/2016 20:47

Everything is similar when I read all your comments! We to have 'cocks' rather than clocks. DS looks nothing like me, completely like DH. And it would appear that I say 'all done' and 'yeah' a lot. It is odd how you don't realise until they start saying it.

CumbrianExile · 31/08/2016 11:29

Grin to cocks! A's speech has improved lots over the last few weeks, but nothing embarrassing as yet. I am sure it will come though! He does like sticking his hand down my top though!

He is a real cross between both myself and DH looks wise. But some of the faces he pulls are definitely from my side and they aren't good Grin

FATEdestiny · 01/09/2016 17:57

It's the start of our Birthday Month Grin

A schoolyard mum friend of mine had a baby today. The newborn photos on Facebook are soooo adorable. Squidgey, wrinkly newborn - I miss those days

MyGreenSofa · 01/09/2016 20:00

Maybe you could manage a 5th Fate? WinkGrin

I can't believe it's September already and that our babies are turning 2! How did this happen?! I hope that as DD has clearly started terrible two's early that she also gets over it early. She spent half an hour screaming this evening because she wanted ice cream instead of dinner. Sad

CumbrianExile · 05/09/2016 20:31

So we had A second birthday on Saturday. We went to the Zoo on Friday and had a small party (family and close friends of ours) on Saturday. A had a brilliant time. The picture is him with his favourite present Smile

He seems to have come on so much recently! With both his language and his ability to copy what people are doing. My dad was sat with his legs crossed on Sunday morning, and A studied him for about 5 mins, then sat down and crossed his legs. He had such a serious look on his face! It was soo funny Grin

Awww happy birthday to him, we have those pyjamas too!

LillyBugg · 07/09/2016 21:34

It was DS's birthday today. I had a horrendous day at work but then the most blissful evening with him and my in laws. He was so tired from all the presents! Hopefully I won't pay tomorrow for having him up until 8.30 tonight. How did they all get so big? I honestly felt like my chest might explode with love tonight.

TeamEponine · 07/09/2016 22:05

Oh Lilly, that's so lovely!

Happy birthday to all of the new two year olds Cake

I have no idea where the past two years have gone. DDs language has gone through a sudden leap forward, and she's now pretty much speaking in sentences and you can have a proper conversation with her. It's the learning of grammar I'm finding fascinating at the moment. She's not being taught it, but she's somehow picking it up. This morning she started saying "me did it" but stopped and corrected herself to "I did it". She's also losing the chubby baby cheeks. Sad

FATEdestiny · 07/09/2016 23:35

I am always fascinated how me/I develops, and self identifying. "My name is [child name]" is never something you actually say to the child, but they learn it nonetheless.

No chance of a 5th for us GreenSofa, although DH did mention babies the other day and I have him a sideways quizzical glance. I think we both like the idea of another child, but know we won't really consider it.

Happy Birthday to those who've already had their birthdays!

My biggest DD started secondary school this week. I had a cry. It seems like the blink of an eye since her 2nd birthday. She'll be 12 next week.

TeamEponine · 08/09/2016 22:01

Oh, FATE if I remember correctly, you have lots of September birthdays? Perhaps including your own?

DD did her first wee in a potty tonight! We weren't really expecting it. She's just been sitting on her potty before her bath every night recently, mainly because she like to wipe her bottom and flush the tissue away, and tonight she did it!!! Guess we need to come up with a proper potty training plan soon Confused

FATEdestiny · 09/09/2016 17:08

Yes, 4 Sept birthdays in our house. My birthday has a zero in it this year [gulp]

Exciting times ahead with potty training. You'll save a fortune in nappies!

MyGreenSofa · 09/09/2016 17:10

Ah congrats team! And happy belated birthday to Lily and Cumbrian's DS's.

DD's bday is Thursday but we are taking her out tmrw as DH can't get her birthday off work. But it's the one day in the next week it's forecast to rain! Angry

KitKat1985 · 09/09/2016 21:38

Ahh happy birthday to all the new 2 year-olds!

DD's birthday is Monday. We're not doing a party this year (I figure this is the last year I can get away with it before she becomes more aware of birthday parties!) but we're taking her out for the day on Monday to a local zoo / kids activity centre.

I've got a few 'empty' days at the end of next week as I'm off work so I'm going to give potty training a bash. Shock I'm not massively confident that she's going to 'get it' but the advice I've been given is to try for 3 days, and if after 3 days she hasn't got it at all, then to drop it and come back to it in another couple of months. It would be great if she did get it though, so we don't have to fork out for two lots of nappies when the new baby comes (how am I 28 weeks already)?!

FATEdestiny · 10/09/2016 23:01

Gosh 28 weeks, thats gone so fast Kitkat.

Are you planning on doubling up on equipment or hoping DD1 won't need stuff anymore? With my 14 month are gap we needed 2 highchairs, two cots/cotbeds, double pushchair.

LillyBugg · 12/09/2016 17:09

Well after being one of the first on the thread to start trying again, I am pleased to say, finally, after 8 months and 10 cycles, I am pregnant!!! It hasn't quite sunk in yet, but I am so so relieved.

Kitkat how are you 28 weeks already?! It's gone so fast.

FATEdestiny · 12/09/2016 17:11

Yeh! That's awesome Lilly. Congratulations! When's due date?

LillyBugg · 12/09/2016 17:16

22nd May, we found out Saturday. My period isn't even due until tomorrow. I soooo hope it sticks! Thank you Smile

MyGreenSofa · 12/09/2016 17:23

Congrats Lily! So pleased for you, fingers crossed for a sticky one!

I'm 9 weeks today. Had an early private scan yesterday and saw the little bean all looking as it should!

KitKat1985 · 12/09/2016 20:49

Wahoo congrats Lily! So pleased for you!

Really pleased to hear of your positive scan yesterday as well MyGreenSofa!

Fate we're hoping we can get away with re-using most things. DD can walk quite a long time without a buggy now, so hoping we can get away with it. Though we will need an extra cot-bed at some point no idea if it'll fit in DD's room though as they are going to have to share, but in denial about this right now!

DD turned 2 today. I think she had a good day, although we did wear her out!

Wow, birthday and bumps this month!

CumbrianExile · 14/09/2016 15:52

Congrats Lilly Thanks

And Happy Birthday to all the ones I have missed Cake

Good luck with the potty training KitKat. I am still putting off that idea, but he really hates nappy change time! Its hard to know when is the right time to do it.

Zanashar · 14/09/2016 16:39

Awwww congrats Lilly and Greensofa!
Kitkat - she's so cute!!!

Z isn't 2 until then Tuesday. We are also just doing a small thing ( myself and DH are both working so will have a day out at the weekend ).

I've made it to 14 weeks and survived the nausea ( and constipationSad).
Due 14th March.

All is well here but I've yet to tackle potty training ( hoping to have it nailed before March as don't fancy endless nappy changing!

Zanashar · 14/09/2016 16:42

Oh and happy birthday to all the babies who have had theirs too!! Smile
