Oh, I have a good embarassing one!
DD loves watches, but calls them clocks, but misses out the "l". Can you see where this is going...
The other day, as clear as anything... "Daddy got a cock... I not got a cock, Mummy not got a cock"
She also is starting to talk about how she feels, apart from she always says how she is feeling "today" rather than "in this moment". I've had strange looks from people when DD announces very loudly "I not happy today, I sad today". Typically this is in response to something like not wanting her nappy changed, or not being allowed to touch or take something in a shop. She says it with such a pathetic voice that she really sounds forlorn and like she's in a major depressive episode. Two minutes before and two minutes after she will be telling me that "I happy today", but obviously no one is ever around to hear that!
FATE, I do know exactly what you mean, but we are already moving beyond that stage
. Two weeks ago we saw mum my and she really needed my translation services. We saw her yesterday and I was not needed!
There are times when she says something, and I just think she's being crazy, to later realise that she was actually trying to tell me something sensible and serious. The other day we were walking down out road, and she kept pointing into a garden telling me about the donkey there! I responded in a "that's nice dear" way, and she got quite irritated that I wasn't all enthusiastic about this bloody donkey. Walking back in the other direction, I could clearly see the large hideous plant pot in the shape of, you guessed it, a donkey!
She also sometimes says stuff, and she clearly has picked it up from me, but I had no idea I say this stuff so often. For example, the other day after changing her nappy, she said "sorted", which I thought was hilarious, and figured she had picked it up at nursery. But I now realise that I do oftern say it when we finish something up. Nappy changed: sorted. Clothes on: sorted. In the pushchair ready to go: sorted.
It's like having a mirror in front of you sometimes. Although DD looks absolutely nothing like me in any way at all.
Does anyone else have a little one who looks nothing like them? It's strange. When I imagined what our daughter would look like, it is nothing at all like how she is. She is a total clone of DMIL, and doesn't look like me at all!
