Congrats KitKat! Bet your DD will love having a little sister! Does she understand it at all?

Teeth brushing - I've tried 2 toothbrushes, letting her have a go first, brushing teeth of teddies, dancing aqua fresh man app and none of it has worked. I just hold her now so she's laying in my lap and hold her arms down (sounds awful!) and just do it with lots of praise at the end. She used to scream the whole way through (felt so bad!) but she has become a lot better now and I do get to brush them properly, which is what's best for her in the end.

For those looking at balance bikes - anyone got their eye on one in particular?

cookielove · 17/07/2016 11:29

Bah it just deleted a load of message I typed out (sigh)

Congratulations kitkat two girls how awesome Smile

E is hit and miss with teeth brushing, most of the time we get a quick brush done but I am awful at remembering to do it in the am :(

We had progress with eating and he will now eat meat where previously he would spit it out! Still won't feed himself savoury though!

FATEdestiny · 17/07/2016 13:42

Pic is DD this morning on her brothers bike. I'm not really sure about which type of balance bike, aren't they all pretty much the same aside from colour?

I'm not sure Fate. I've seen some that seem to be like wooden (I guess wooden toys are 'in') and they just look a bit odd whereas I'd want one that looks more like a normal bike. Saw a little girl in the park on just the sort of thing so know it exists!

Your DD looks to be giving it a good go, bet she'll love having her own!

CumbrianExile · 18/07/2016 19:36

Hi Ladies, after a bit of advise if you can.
A has been off colour the since Friday. He has barely ate anything since then, and there was vomit in his cot Fri, Sat and Sun morning, only a little bit, but none today. Although the lack of vomit was made up for in some lovely nappies. Both myself and DH are worried, and DH wants me to take him to the doctors. Dr Google suggests not to do that if it is the noro virus though, unless he seems dehydrated (He is drinking a fair amount of milk so this is not the case). What do you think? The current plan is to keep him off nursery tomorrow and see how he is, but the lack of eating is worrying!

KitKat1985 · 18/07/2016 20:56

Cumbrian can you phone 111 for some advice? I suspect it's not norovirus (you tend to get lots of projectile vomiting with norovirus, so the small amounts you describe don't really fit in with norovirus infection). I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of eating as the milk should have enough calories in it to be keeping him going. Most important is that he is drinking, especially in this heat. No harm in phoning for some advice though.

FATEdestiny · 18/07/2016 21:23

I agree with Kitkat Cumbrian, that norovirus (in fact most D&V viruses) involve copious amount of projectile vomit.

Has it been hotter than normal where you are? My eldest son often vomits when he overheats. This often happens at night because he's s deep sleeper so once asleep under a duvet he doesn't wake enough to kick the covers off when hot - so he overheats until he's sick. Sleeping bags can have the same effect in the heat.

I would be worried though that she was sick and didn't wake you. It's concerning if she slept through vomiting because that's a significant choke risk. Did you hear her wake?

I probably wouldn't go to the doctors as long as DC is well hydrated, alert and responsive.

TeamEponine · 18/07/2016 21:40

Has he had a temperature at all? Is he having plenty of wet nappies? And how does he seem in himself?

If he is getting wet nappies, doesn't have a temperature and seems OK in himself, then it's probably just a case of waiting for it to pass.

If you're worried though, try 111?

Otherwise, cuddles and CBeebies Confused

CumbrianExile · 19/07/2016 07:59

Thanks Ladies.
Yes, he seems ok in himself. Is currently screaming at Thomas the Tank Engine lol. He is still also doing plenty of wet nappies.
You could be right on the over heating Fate, it has been quite warm but we still put him in his sleeping bag up til Sunday night (which was the night he wasn't sick). No, didn't hear him wake at all. Since Friday though I was going in and checking on him a lot, as I was worried about the choking risk.
I will keep an eye on him today and see how he goes.

cookielove · 19/07/2016 11:32

E had a spell of vomiting in the night and not waking me! I would go in and find a small patch on his clothes, and sometimes in his hair (grim) it passed soon enough. Not sure on the cause though (not helpful)

We have all the doors and windows open in the flat and it's lovely and cool and I need to go out and get food but really don't want to move! It is so hot and if we go out he will want to go to the park which has no shade Sad so gonna stay in for now and most likely do a online shop! E is watching telly (bad mum) but we are off to London tomorrow!

CumbrianExile · 19/07/2016 12:57

Its strange isn't it Cookie. I do think it might be the overheating thing now that it has been mentioned though, which has coincided with a bit of a bug (Myself and DH have both had it this weekend, and when I called nursery this morning to say he wasn't going I was told a couple of the staff have had bugs over the weekend).
Anyway, it seems A's appetite is back, in fact he has barely stopped eating today! So I feel better.
We went out into the garden earlier this morning. But we are now sat with the fan blowing and windows open. A keeps passing me his shoes and walking to the door, but its just to hot at the moment to be outside. Plus, since we are both off sick getting caught running round the park wouldn't be the best idea!
What are you up to in London? Have a great day Smile

FATEdestiny · 19/07/2016 13:20

I would love to listen be close enough just to 'pop into London' for the day

Mind you, it would also be lovely to live in the coast and be able to pop to the beach whenever we wanted. Does anyone live near the coast? We are about 90 minutes from the nearest coastline.

cookielove · 20/07/2016 15:43

Well as great as it is to pop into London, it's frigging boiling today and I redder than red! :(

TeamEponine · 20/07/2016 20:49

Yup, it's sweltering here! DD is covered in heat rash and having fantastic temper tantrums Confused I really wish we could just have a few days of low to mid 20's. It's gone from one extreme to another!

We are just under an hour from central London and just over an hour to the coast. So we can visit either quite easily, although we don't often do either!

cookielove · 21/07/2016 19:26

On a fast train it's 20 minutes into London Kings Cross :)

E is not eating well, very annoying as he had just been doing so well with food! And we are all shattered today! Zzzzzz

FATEdestiny · 21/07/2016 21:04

DD went out with MIL today to a local petting farm and got bitten by a goat!

It's all ok though. She had a cry, distracted by feeding the ducks then went back to the goats, made friends and fed them again.

What's up with Es eating Cookie?

TeamEponine · 22/07/2016 15:18

Oh no FATE. Is she ok? DD once had a goat try to eat her dress and still says that all goats are naughty!

Might reduced eating be due to the heat?

cookielove · 22/07/2016 17:43

Not sure really, he has a high temp today and was up coughing last night :(

KitKat1985 · 23/07/2016 11:06

Glad your DS seems brighter Cumbrian.

Sorry to hear about your poor DD Fate. Was she badly bitten?

Sorry as well Cookie to hear about your poor DS. Is he still poorly today?

Lots of poorly / injured toddlers on here at the moment. Sad

All pretty good here. Only thing is that I finally went and got DD weighed again on Monday as had not done it since January and I only really went in because I had to go into the health centre anyway to pick up my MATb1 form from the midwives and they say she has dropped her weight centile from about the 25th to between 15th-25th (she's 22lb exactly), which wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't still on the 60th centile for height, so she's starting to border on the underweight side. I'm not massively worried as I think she just takes after DH a bit when he was younger (he was very tall and just naturally skinny) and she does eat when she wants to but just is naturally very active. Need to try and get a couple of extra lbs on her though I think (wish I had that problem - bloody pregnancy weight gain)!

polkadotdelight · 23/07/2016 19:21

I'm so behind! Congratulations kitkat, boy or girl I'd be saying the same as it's all awesome! I can't offer any advice on the weight issue though as I'm lucky with DS.

Loved the bike pic FATE although being bitten by a goat isn't so good!

How is DS today cookie?

We can be by the sea in about 40 minutes (ish) but I find that DS always falls asleep in the car so we have to be strategic about when we go out! His speech is coming on really well now and dare I say it, bedtimes are getting back to normal.

Second birthdays are coming up and I haven't a clue what to get him or what to suggest to the grandparents. I really don't think he is safe with a balance bike (he is bonkers) so Im stuck!

KitKat1985 · 23/07/2016 20:47

Glad bedtimes are getting back to normal Polkadot.

Oh I meant to say Fate we're only about a 10-15 minute drive from the coast, but it's the south coast so they are all pebble beaches and not sandy, so not that great for toddlers. We do go reasonably often though.

cookielove · 24/07/2016 20:32

fate sorry to hear your lo was bitten by a goat! Did it draw blood? Glad to hear she wasn't traumatised!

Ds ate much better today and is sometimes feeding himself which is really good. We had an active day today which has worn him out Grin

Here he is doing some diyGrin

CumbrianExile · 28/07/2016 15:48

Great picture Cookie, good to see your DS is feeling better.

Fate hope your DD has recovered from the goat incident. I think I would be more traumatized than A if that happened to him Grin

We are about 60 minutes from the beach, and to be honest I never think of going. We should really, as A loved being on the beach when we went to Wales. Unfortinaltey it looks as though the weather is going back to the usual North West weather now, it has rained all day today Sad

I am not sure what to suggest for A's birthday either Polka. We don't have the outdoor space for a bike really, and I wouldn't trust him out on the street as he would just ride out. He keeps pointing at Thomas toys, so I think we will probably just get him a few little things and he needs clothes in 18-24 months (yep, he is just going into that size!) but that doesn't seem exciting for a birthday present!

TeamEponine · 29/07/2016 13:12

Awww Cookie, that's so cool! Glad he's eating a bit better too.

Cumbrian, I'm still buying 18-24 month clothes and they now just about fit her. Her pj's are still a bit long in the leg though Grin

DD is starting settling in sessions for moving up a room at nursery today. I'm so nervous. She's so happy and loves it so much in the baby room. I think she will struggle with the move and being away from her key worker, but she really does look too grown up to be with the "babies" now Sad

Has anyone started potty training yet? My mum said yesterday that she thinks DD is ready and that I was potty trained at around this age. I think I'm going to wait until she's moved rooms and well settled before even thinking about it.

cookielove · 30/07/2016 10:28

E has had a few settles for the 2-3 room as well! He hasn't been in babies for a while though! He will be fine as he just loves playing lol!

He is also just in 18 - 24 clothes, but is also wearing loads if 12-18 still and the occasional 9-12. Depending on what it is!

We are not potty training ever so often I pop him on the potty after a nappy change to see what he will do, he hates it so I am not forcing anything!

Urgh E has been fighting for independence again, he wants to walk down the stairs without holding on to my hand! He is positively terrifying sometimes!
