Morning all. Up feeding Martha, who has fallen asleep and so will wake up screaming in half an hour.

I am wondering whether it's worth the effort of going back to bed.

she's a right farty bum this morning

Rosieblossom123 · 12/03/2016 04:54

Wow new thread already Shock Sorry haven't been on here for a while. Never knew newborns can be so demanding although I was prepared!! Currently bf Mia and wishing I could just fall asleep seriously not sure how my body is still going with the lack of sleep!! Congrats on all the new arrivals too!! And hopefully they'll be more babies coming soon.

Mia had her hearing test and prick heal test yesterday day 5 and it all went well thank god had to bf while they did that prick heal test as she probably would've wrecked the place with her crying haha

Sorry TMI but today is day 6 and I'm still bleeding quiet heavy but last night I had a massive lump of blood come out Sad Like a block of jelly shall I be concerned? Ftm so not sure if that's normal or not!!

scaredmum2be · 12/03/2016 05:08

My dd failed her hearing test in the right ear. Having to go hospital Monday. Left ear was ok though.
Rosie- I've had two massive clots!- a few days ago. I to,d midwife who wasn't concerned and my loss was still heavy at six days. Phone midwife if your concerned though x
Hope you all get some sleep soon.
These days go so quick so despite the lack of sleep try to enjoy it as soon our babies won't be babies lol x

Rosieblossom123 · 12/03/2016 05:24

Scared good luck on Monday hun hope it goes well. Oh okay I got super scared couldn't believe how big it was Confused I'll see how I get on over the weekend then phone mw if I need to. I completely agree the time is flying and I keep looking at Mia and thinking please don't grow too quickly haha she's put on 1oz in 4 days bless her.

RhubarbAndMustard · 12/03/2016 05:46

Rosie I had a clot about the size of a walnut with DS1. I phoned the midwife and she wasn't concerned. That said, I would still call yours just to put your mind at rest.

Scared hope test goes ok Monday. Maybe her ear was just a bit blocked with mucus from the birth.

I was so tired yesterday, I put DS1 to bed and fell straight asleep at 7:30pm. Got up for my shift with Jacob at 2 and sat here having cuddles after his second feed. I'm aware how lucky I am to be able to do the shifts with DP and get that block of sleep.

Me The first weeks with a newborn can be really tough. Even second time round I've been googling all my worries- is he sleeping too much, why haven't his eyes opened yet, etc. It's very natural but try to relax. Babies are very resilient and as long as they eat, wee and poo, plus you cuddle them lots, that's pretty much all they need. Try to eat and drink yourself though because you need the strength. Get any visitors to make their own tea and yours and bring food!

Missikat · 12/03/2016 05:49

Morning! Up too in the feeding club, zach's been awake for getting on for two hours, two feeds and one massive poo later I'm hoping he may now settle and go back to sleep. Zzzzzzz

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/03/2016 06:03

Morning all, another member of crap sleep club here, been tossing and turning all night and was up for about an hour in the middle of the night just wide awake. Finally gave up on sleep at half 5 when I needed the loo. Still doesn't feel like baby will come anytime soon but BH were quite frequent yesterday so hopefully body is getting prepared! I did try another diy cervix check yesterday but couldn't feel anything so think I still have a ways to go.

wooden that sounds really stressful, hope you're all ok! I think the sense of anticipation and not knowing is probably what's doing it for all our DCs at the moment, hopefully things will calm down once babies arrive!

indom sorry to hear you're also in CSC, hope you managed to get some decent sleep in last half of the night.

Commiserations to everyone in night feed club! It can be pretty relentless and for quite a long time if you're unlucky and have a sleep monster like my DD but fx you guys manage to get a bit of sleep this morning.

me sorry to hear about your anxiety, but glad things seem to be going better. Not sure if you have tried this but if you feel stressed and baby unsettled try just stripping both of you down and doing lots of skin to skin feeding (under a blanket to keep yourself warm!).

scared my DD failed her hearing test in one ear and they couldn't get a clear reading on the repeat test either. They told me it was likely just she was small and was difficult to get the hearing thing in her ear to test! I have poor hearing in one ear so they have kept an eye on it and she's had six monthly checks since. As far as they can see she has congestion in her ear which they aren't too concerned about but can't discharge her till she's clear. Her speech etc is fine and she shows absolutely no signs of any hearing loss so I'm not too concerned. Anyway I think it is quite common for babies to fail one ear on first test but be fine on second one, so good luck for Monday.

Rosie I'd also check with MW about any blood loss just to be on safe side, even though its likely fine.

nixxxy · 12/03/2016 06:04

Morning mums, I'm in the CSC again - no newborn here, just anxiety and restlessness! Ended up back in Mat Assessment unit yesterday after my 38 week midwife appointment as my BP was high as a kite! No protein in my wee though and I was monitored and bloods taken at hospital. They gave me Labetalol to bring my BP down which worked and now I have a prescription to take it twice a day. Looks like gestational hypertension which is better than pre-eclampsia I suppose! Have to go back next Friday for a check up - induction was mentioned but only if it measures high again or if anything changes in the next week. For now I just have carpel tunnel to deal with too, joys!

maybebabybee · 12/03/2016 07:43

Having a shit time. Contractions ramped up to every 3 minutes last night around midnight so went to hospital only to be told I am only 1cm dilated. Sent back home to try to "sleep" Confused. Got very very upset which did not help with the pain.

Was still contracting regularly until an hour ago when they tapered off and are now much milder and further apart. Don't know how I feel. Relieved to get some respite but gutted as I thought that was it. Really cannot cope with another week of this Sad

vroc81 · 12/03/2016 07:45

Yep I was in csc but forced myself to not look at phone didn't help me get back to sleep though...

Nixxy easier said than done but try not to worry too much it does nothing for the BP,Wink they put me on that labetalol at 39 weeks after a couple of spikes since 36 weeks, the tablets have worked very well, and weve been monitored very thoroughly since.. But with no signs of PE at all either and after two maybe we'll induce you chats and assessments this week they're now letting me carry on until they'd have induced me for been overbaked anyway..

TheMshipIsBack · 12/03/2016 07:58

Oh maybe, that's miserable. Fx that your body practicing will make for a quick labour when it does come. If it does go fast, insist on getting checked more often than the stupid every 4 hour rule - if they'd done that with me, Tam would have been born before they'd bothered to do a second exam!

Off to the heel prick clinic and day 5 weigh in today. I'm feeling quietly confident that all the feeding we've done the last two days has paid off. BFing is going so much better than with DS; my boobs are achy and sore but I haven't made the same mistakes (pumping too soon, accepting an inferior latch just to get a feed in) that gave me cracked and bleeding nipples and horrendous engorgement. Plus Tam is a total milk monster Grin - she can strip a breast saggy in 20-25 minutes.

Woodenmouse · 12/03/2016 08:11

Morning everyone!!

Maybe sorry to hear that!! Hopefully it means you are nearly ready.
nixxy fx it will go back down!
scared that happened to a friend's dd and it was just because she was tiny fx for you that everything is fine.
Thank you marmite I'm hoping once baby wooden is here things will settle down.

On a happy note my waters broke at 6.00 this morning but I'm only having mild contractions. I promised Ds we would go to the park so we are I'm hoping a walk will bring on proper contractions, my parents are on standby to have ds it's all very exciting!!

MyNameIsSuz · 12/03/2016 08:15

Oh maybe I'm sorry you're having such a rough time Flowers It won't be like that for a whole week! It's a shame they've tapered off again, could you have a bath and take yourself off to bed while the pain isn't too bad?

mship, you have no idea how encouraging that is to hear - I had a really bad start with ds and am hoping exactly the same, that I won't make the same mistakes again! But I was worried that it was all down to the baby or that I'd forget everything I knew, so good to hear that's not the case for you.

vroc81 · 12/03/2016 08:16

Cross posted maybe that's rubbish, hope things get going again for you!!

Yay wooden no sneezing a baby out on the swings!!

Mship hope all goes well with the checks.

IndomitabIe · 12/03/2016 08:23

Hugs for maybe ThanksBrewChocolate hope you can do some snoozing before it ramps up for the main event.

Ooh, exciting wooden! Good luck!

scared, I remember being warned about hearing tests often picking up things that turned out to be nothing. Hopefully this is the case for you.

Good luck to anyone having heel prick tests today.

Paperblank · 12/03/2016 08:25

Cheering Maybe & Wooden on!

Hope you get tout meet your babies today xx

sherazade · 12/03/2016 08:35

good luck maybe and wooden please don't leave me behind
have decided to postpone induction till Monday so i'll be just under 2 weeks over. See what they can do for me in terms of extra monitoring. Deadlines freak me out so i'll feel less under pressure this way.

BumpPower · 12/03/2016 08:49

Sounds good wooden do you have to go in after a certain amount of time if your waters have broken?
maybe really feel your pain. I never had this stop start before and it's emotionally exhausting as well as painful! everything ramped up nicely for me yesterday and then started to taper off but my bump was so hard for so long I couldn't feel baby move at all. Rang midwife and took their advice of a deep hot bath whilst drinking a cold drink. Whilst I could barely feel baby move you could see it jumping about all over the place so it is clearly fine! Sadly the bath completely killed off any contractions and I went to bed at 2000 and slept pretty much straight through until 0700! Just waking to think 'nothing is happening....'
So dtd this morning, and stuck legs I the air like a fool, will go for a walk later and fingers crossed.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 12/03/2016 09:06

Good luck maybe, wooden and bump! Hope things progress for you today I'm so jealous

maybe I totally feel your pain re being sent home barely dilated - I had that exact problem with DD. Do you know what position baby is in? With DD I had regular contractions but no dilation and later found out it was as she was back to back. Wish I'd known as I'd have worked on turning her (ie all fours positions, leaning over birthing ball etc). FX things progress for you.

Sher glad you have managed to get some control over your possible induction. I'm dreading my MW appointment on Monday but DP is coming with me for moral support. People who have had sweeps - does it hurt and is there anything I can do to make it easier?

maybebabybee · 12/03/2016 09:06

Thank you for the support everyone, Flowers to everyone else having a crappy time.

Lost some of my plug this morning so do hope things will ramp up again. Could do with my waters going really.

maybebabybee · 12/03/2016 09:08

X posted with marmite - I was worried baby was back to back but according to midwife he is not, he's in the perfect position. Sigh!

The sweep I got last night was so painful but I was in distress and contracting at the time so I'm not sure it's representative of all sweeps.

sherazade · 12/03/2016 09:16

thanks marmite
sweeps seem to vary from woman to woman and also how aggressively it is performed. I will be really honest with you and say that mine was very painful and I wish I had known beforehand how painful it was going to be. I think she wanted it to be as thorough as possible. However pain seems to range from 'uncomfortable' to 'agony' from woman to woman! I hope this doesn't scare you and although mine didn't work am glad I tried anyway.
hope this helps and better luck with yours.

MrsElls · 12/03/2016 09:19

Ooh good luck everyone who might be in early stages of labour, fx there might be 3 babies today! I have such quick labours I find it strange to think of people having a bath or going out mid labour, my two have been mad dashes to hospital! Also I second the call to request more frequent monitoring than every four hours if you feel you need it, with ds I did the whole first stage on my own until I told dh that he needed to get a midwife because I was ready to push, he arrived 17 minutes later. With dd the midwife was trying to open the delivery pack one handed as baby was crowning before she decided it was best to just deliver the baby and then sort out whatever she was faffing with afterwards! I remember one midwife doing a handover to a new one at 8am and telling her that my next check should be at 11.40 and me thinking there was no chance I'd still be in labour then, dd was born at 8.12am...

hayleycookie · 12/03/2016 09:19

Ooh good luck Wooden and Maybe! Fingers crossed for lots of progression and fast labours for you!

Marmite just try to relax. I've had 4 and the only one that hurt was when I was all tensed up and stressed out. They're really not that bad :)

Nothing happening here!! 40+2 now. Lots of plug loss but that's nothing new for me. Gonna be left on my own at this rate!

OP posts:
vroc81 · 12/03/2016 09:32

Marmite I've had three this week, Blush the first hurt the most as not only was I nervous about it but I was also completely not ready for it.. in fact from my notes I'm not sure whether she swept or just had a pull about?! The third one was just a bit uncomfortable and she said it's because things were softening up so suspect it will depend on how things are for you unfortunately... It might have been one of our fellow Marchers that suggested a couple of paracetamol before you go on another thread..

Good luck bump I'm not at all jealous of all this action I'm off for a long walk!
