Congratulations Bump! Amazingly swift too! And they share a birthday?! (We are in with a chance of that too!)

TriJo · 25/03/2016 09:31

5 days over now. Had a sweep at midwife appointment yesterday - few twinges since but nothing of substance. Induction booked for April 1 if nothing stirring by then.

Crispylicious · 25/03/2016 10:36

Congrats bump! That sounds like an amazing birth and super quick. Love the name. Congrats to french too. Hopefully nix will have a bubba soon too.

Am knackered today. I just can't sleep anymore and just want the baby here now!

Ohwoolballs · 25/03/2016 11:05

Morning all! I'll catch up as soon as I can, looks like it was a busy night!
Had my little boy at 4:15 this morning. Still no name, we are currently on the lovely hot ward in the sun all skin to skin. He was 6lbs 2 - a tidgy little thing I wasn't expecting! Had to send out for emergency tiny clothes! I'm euphoric.

trijo you will be winning the prize, I might just send you an Easter egg. 🍰

IndomitabIe · 25/03/2016 11:20

Congratulations OhWool!

Who's still in the end-of-the-month gang? TriJo & me... anyone else left?

I'm 40+2 and won't get a sweep till Tuesday.

nixxxy · 25/03/2016 12:09

Well, after a speedy and shocking 4 hour labour (brought on by one pessary and bear in mind I'm a first time mum!) We were were very proud (and relieved...) To welcome Eleanor Elizabeth at 04:00 this morning. Gas and air/pethidine only - was planning an epidural but didn't have the time! A little assistance from the doctors helped her out :) She weighs 6lb 14 and is a bundle of sunshine!

nixy and wool gorgeous babies, congrats! This thread is producing some beauts.

indom meeeeee. I'm 40+3 and they don't induce until you're 40 + 14 here . Am convinced I will be the last. Absolutely no twinges!

Timetogrowup2016 · 25/03/2016 12:46

Congrats two both of you.
Ohwool- Calais is in tiny baby clothes and they finally fit her after being hugely baggy for weeks. So nice to have clothes that fit her finally
Suz- hope your ok it's so worrying having a baby let alone with extra worries added in

This is dd belly button this morning. Her cord fell of at day 10 but looks like this today. We've had no issues so far but am I bit worried, she seems fine in her self.

Calais failed her third hearing test at fhthe hospital in her right ear :( so being refereed to audiology on 4th April to see if it's hearing loss or just mucus etc. absolutely gutted and very scared. Her left seems fine but am scared she'll loose all hearing one day

Timetogrowup2016 · 25/03/2016 12:47

Also Indom. Well done you for making it so far at work. Can't believe you done it and with a ds to!

MyNameIsSuz · 25/03/2016 13:01

Congratulations wool and nixxxy, gorgeous babies! Hope you're all doing well and recovering.

I'm feeling better about Sylvie's wonky legs. She spent her first night with the new padded bum arrangement (one nappy as normal, a folded up muslin between the legs, and a second nappy on top backwards) and was only mildly disgruntled by it. And it does look hilarious.

Sorry to hear about the hearing test time, do you know how quickly you'll be referred? Hopefully it's nothing.

Trinpy · 25/03/2016 13:01

Wow a rush of babies arriving all at once!

Congratulations to bump, wool, and nixxxy!

Wonder whether we will manage an Easter baby on this thread?

marmite well done for working so hard on getting the latch right, it spunds like its starting to pay off now. I'm always better at feeding on my right side and have to force myself to keep using the left side lots until it becomes second nature.

IndomitabIe · 25/03/2016 13:07

Congratulations nixxxy!

Crispy & TriJo, we are a depleting group!

dobbythedoggy · 25/03/2016 13:42

Congratulations wool and nixxxy, two more beautiful bouncing babies for our group.

suz if you're in the south west I can recomended a couple of fantastic support groups for parents of children with dhd. Dd had it and it took until 2 yrs 4 mths for everything to be normal and for her to be discharged from the othopedic surgon. Glad to see your feeling a bit better about it today, but remember it being terriably emotional even though her case was very mild and didn't require intervention just monitoring. She was/is involved in a clinical practice trail; and had intensive physio while she was under consultant care and will be reviewed into adulthood to see if the physio had a positive effect long term. Her right hip joint was slower than it should have been to solidify but was initially shallow, only recomendation we were given was to wear her as much as possiable rather than use the pushchair. Other than crawling with a limp she appeared perfectly normal.

Eddy has his hip scan in a couple of weeks to make sure his hips are fine because of her history.

It's a beautiful sunny day here, took dd out walking the old rail way tracks and to get a couple of bits from the shops. Lovely to actually let her play out in the garden too. Eddy's been enjoying the sunshine too, was quite happy lying in his pram kicking while we were walking also loved the ring sling I've been practicing with. So pleased as it fits in the change bag and takes up vertually no space, so fantastic for when he gets fed up of the pram while I'm shopping.

MyNameIsSuz · 25/03/2016 14:03

Thanks dobby, I'm in Oxfordshire so not exactly south west but close to bits of it. I'd also thought I'd wear her a bit more, I didn't use my Moby wrap as much as I could have with ds, I'd like to use it more this time (before the weather gets too warm). I was quite surprised they didn't mention it actually.

Purpleprickles · 25/03/2016 14:11

Hi all- congrats Wool and Nixxy and to any other new arrivals I haven't mentioned since my last post.

Suz and Time sorry to hear you have extra appointments and worry Thanks

E is doing well, I took her to work yesterday as a colleague was retiring. She got loads of cuddles as well as pokes and strokes from one of my old classes. On child even decided to clean her gunky eye with her finger! I did deep calm breathing.

My parents left today and now DH is off for the week. To be honest at the moment I'd rather have my parents. I'm feeling really emotional and I don't know why but he doesn't get it. Plus he is going out tonight to wet E's head which is fine but he wanted to leave at 6 which would mean I would do dinner for ds and bath and have E on my own. After words he is now going at 7.30. I just feel a bit alone even though he is here but hopefully it will pass. Is anyone else emotional on the Sad side?

Time E's belly button is a bit weepy too, I couldn't see properly on your pic but I think they say if it is quite gunky then get it checked. Ds ended up having his quarterised-wrong spelling at a few months old which was painless for him.

magpiedreams · 25/03/2016 14:26

Wow congratulations to bump, wool, and nixxxy!

indom, crispy, trijo I'll pul, up a chair next to you on the 'still waiting' couch.

suz, time sorry to hear about your worries with the babies, I guess a positive is that these things have been spotted early and are being sorted and looked into. As upsetting as it is for you, and when others don't seem to 'get' it, at least the baby will have no memory at all of the worry and stress! I remember when DD was really unwell aged 7days my DH and MIL who were there seemed incredible blase and un-concerned. I think we still have an incredibly powerful bond that others may not have yet. The newborn phase is sometimes described as the 4th trimester and i think this is very accurate. Your feelings are totally valid and normal.

DH has taken DCs into the garden to play and cut the grass. I'm lying down to minmise chances of labouring today not that it was looking likely anyway

marmiteandcheeseplease · 25/03/2016 14:58

Congrats nixxy and wool!!

time we had the exact same thing with DD1, and we have a history of mild hearing in the family (me and DPs mum) so they were concerned. She's never 'passed' the hearing test and has been diagnosed with glue ear (basically mucus) and is still under observation, as it's gotten better but not gone away yet However, her hearing really is fine and at 27 months her speech is excellent (nursery assessed her speech as advanced) so it hasn't intefered with her development at all. Try not to worry as it's very common to have mucus, and that's likely the issue if it's just in one ear.

Also, E's belly button is a bit of a mess, I think it's quite normal so long as it doesn't smell. Hers is very weepy and even a bit bloody, we showed it to the GP this week and he wasn't concerned. Also showed it to DPs mum today (she's a health visitor) and she said it was fine. I'm sure Calais is fine but if you're worried you could take her to a drop in and see a health visitor or contact your health visitor about it?

purple sorry to hear you are feeling emotional. I had my weepy day a few days ago but seem to come out of the other side now. Hopefully it will pass for you too.

IndomitabIe · 25/03/2016 18:15

Any more excitement?

Nothing here. I just got the rest of the newborn clothes out of a vac bag and into DSs bottom drawer.

Changed the crib sheet (cat hair!).

Made emergency birthday arrangements for DS (should it all happen then!).

Come on baby.

IndomitabIe · 25/03/2016 18:49

I just realised that at this point last time (evening of 40+2) I'd already been in labour with DS1 for 3 hours. Hmm It would be another 9-ish hours till he finally arrived though.

nixxxy · 25/03/2016 19:21

Exhausted and spending the night on the ward to make sure my BP is okay and get BF established with Ellie. DH has gone home at my insistence that one of us gets a decent night's sleep. My DM & F came over yesterday to stay until Ellie comes home (my DM was also a birthing partner) so at least he's getting fed!

El is fine but a bit sleepy from the pethidine I had - she latched great this morning and fed/fumbled for ages but is too tired/stoned to latch now. Midwifes here are great, coming in every few hours to help me out/express to a syringe so she gets something. Fingers crossed next time all goes well and she latches on good and tight.

Woodenmouse · 25/03/2016 19:53

Congratulations everyone on the new arrivals!!

I'm having a nightmare at the moment, ds1 has bad conjunctivitis and has been screaming in pain. Dh is at work and dex needs to feed. I've given ds1 some calpol and his eye drops and managed to get him to bed but i can hear him sobbing. I'm feeling such a failure today.

dobbythedoggy · 25/03/2016 20:06

Oh wooden you're no failure! Hope the eye drops work fast and ds1 is feeling more comfortable very soon. Much sympathy to him (and you), conjunctivitus can be horriably painful, burning, itching you've got something in your eye type of feeling.

TriJo · 25/03/2016 20:42

Not a flicker Indom. Have been having pretty much a day-long meltdown about being overdue...

IndomitabIe · 25/03/2016 20:56

Oh wooden, that sounds so difficult. The calpol will have him feeling better in no time though.

I can relate, Tri. I'm not there yet, but I can envision it happening sometime next week.
