some of us have incredible procrastination skills and no real hobbies haha yes indom me

Sorry to hear about Oliver's infection doc. Hope it clears up soon and you get to go home, but glad you both seem to be doing well despite everything.

Going to leave the house for the first time today, realised that El hasn't left the house since she was born. It's so strange (bit awesome) to think where I'm sat right now (front room watching food network) is where she was born! Going to get her weighed today. Feeling a little apprehensive as she hasn't been a poo since Saturday - she did two poos on sat and has been weeing like a trooper but no poos, just wind. I might ask them what I can do (if anything other than feed constantly which I am doing). She's doing well, has alert periods and everything so think it might be a waiting game.

Congrats on your successful morning beaut Grin

Hope those of you still waiting get to see your babies soon!

BumpPower · 21/03/2016 10:03

Indom - I'm 40+7 or 41weeks today!! Sad it's DS1 birthday on Thursday - he is only 2 though so won't notice if we simply postpone cake and cards (he is having a proper party in April) - but still I had plans and now feel like I'm just sitting round waiting for nothing to happen. Thinking very unkind thoughts about my folks and DP who are all here trying to help getting under my feet

MyNameIsSuz · 21/03/2016 10:23

Sorry to all those overdue, it's so frustrating isn't it? Hoping things move for you all soon, plenty of sweeps and good thoughts! Especially hayley as I think we had the same due date and I'd definitely had enough by Friday, at least the end is very near for you.

I'm getting super sore boobs too, the midwife has checked our latch and I think it's ok, and she's definitely getting something as we had a little bit back up after the last feed. I'm struggling to get my head around how much she's feeding - with ds I wrote down every feed, start and finish times and which side, and it really helped to see patterns so I think I'll start that.

I'm feeling weird about not going outside too marmite! Sylvie has at least been out for the journey home but not since, outside is starting to feel like a weird concept.

I'm so impressed Beautiful, I think I'll need tips when preschool is back after Easter. I'm already dreading dh going back to work!

Crispylicious · 21/03/2016 10:42

I'm still sans baby too, but only 39+6. They don't induce until 40+14 here, do have been given induction date of 5 April Shock I'll be going for a 10 month pregnancy

So sorry Oliver has an infection doc, but sounds like they are looking after him well. Have you got a private room?

Waves to everyone else. DD1 has decided sleep is for whimps, so I'm bloody knackered!

docmcstuffins1 · 21/03/2016 12:37

Yes Crispy luckily I've got a side room (I used to work at the hospital so they pulled some strings and I've had my own ensuite room from the beginning one of the few perks of working for the NHS) Grin

docmcstuffins1 · 21/03/2016 12:42

Pressed post too soon. Crispy Oliver was born at 40+14 and though the risk of still birth is increased very slightly from 40/41 weeks, it's around the same as for babies born at 38 weeks. Try not to worry. I recommend downloading the AIMS booklet on induction (it's about £7 from the kindle store) as it really helped ease my worries about induction.

Trinpy · 21/03/2016 14:17

Well I may be in labour or I may not. I thought I definitely was earlier so called out the mw, my dh called in his colleague on his day off, my mum closed down the shop for the day, etc. Now I'm slightly concerned it is another false alarm Blush. Will update after mw arrives.

magpiedreams · 21/03/2016 14:41

Ooh I hope you are trin! Fingers crossed.

crispy hayleybump indom trijo I'm still baby-less too. And only 39w! I do have an eviction induction date of 28th though so only another week of waiting for me. Who else have I missed still in the waiting game? Anyone else tempted to reply to their next "Any news?!" text with "oh. Sorry didn't we tell you, baby Wa born 2 weeks ago. All is well, thanks". I'm seriously considering it.

Trinpy · 21/03/2016 15:07

Yay its been confirmed that I am in active labour! I was so happy when the mw told me I went 'yeeeeeessss!!!! I don't have to do this for another week!!!!'

IndomitabIe · 21/03/2016 15:19

Ooh, exciting Trin! Hope it's swift from now on though!

I've had some texts subtly enquiring of my wellbeing! I'm ok with it, I know when my friends/sis were this pregnant the suspense was killing me! I might change my mind if I'm still waiting next week!

I've had a lot of BHs today, but nothing of note at all. I thought I was feeling better earlier, but then I moved and have coughed my muscles back into reminding me why I'm not at work!

MyNameIsSuz · 21/03/2016 15:38

Ooh trinpy how exciting!!! Good luck!

TriJo · 21/03/2016 16:24

Best of luck Trinpy :)

Ohwoolballs · 21/03/2016 16:37

I just typed a super post which was all kinds of supportive/hilarious (not really) but I lost it 😐 Here's the gist of it.

indom tri bump hayley trinpy magpieI feel like the last one of us will get a prize... I've been having morning cramps for the last three days but they fizzle out by 10am. Been for a lovely long walk with my mum today at the park which obviously led to tea and cake at the cafe. 😬

Ah! Just read that you're in active labour trinpy Woooh! 🌟

I must admit that getting to read all your wise words on the first few days/weeks/boob feeding and all the rest is making me happy I'm at the end of the month. You will all be pros when I'll be begging/nagging asking politely for advice.

Off to the MILs birthday tea this eve, really glad that WoolBump isn't sharing a birthday with her though, it would be forced joint parties for years. and MIL would act like it was all planned for her, the super grandma😧

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 21/03/2016 16:41

Exciting stuff trinpy! Hope to hear baby news soon!
Can I just ask if anyone had stiches? I had a 2nd degree tear that was deep rather than long and it's stinging and still very uncomfortable. It was only done on Friday, and I know it could take a while to heal yet, but is it normal to still be wincing and walking like John Wayne at this stage? I went to make a sudden movement to get off the sofa a few minutes ago and couldn't help crying out 'ouch' and the stinging brought tears to my eyes briefly Sad
I actually had a 3rd degree tear first time around but I think because I was on painkillers for a couple of weeks afterwards it numbed it more.

Trinpy · 21/03/2016 17:36

Hello, just popping back to let you know all is progressing well. Contractions getting very strong and close. Just going to have a nice bath. Not long to go until I meet my baby Smile.

IndomitabIe · 21/03/2016 17:36

It's only been 3 days, Charley! Get on the ibuprofen.

I've been having regular BHs for an hour and a half. My back is aching, but that could be the ball bouncing more than anything. I'm pretty sure they'll stop if I move back to the sofa though.

IndomitabIe · 21/03/2016 17:36

Yay! Good luck Trinpy!

MyNameIsSuz · 21/03/2016 17:57

I had a second degree tear with stitches too charley. One thing the midwife said was to get a squeezy bottle (I'm using an empty fairy liquid one I dug out of the recycling) and fill with warm water and lavender oil, and squirt it all over your stitches after a wee instead of wiping, then pat dry. It's definitely working for me so far, every time I go to the other toilet and can't squirt it feels much sorer.

BumpPower · 21/03/2016 18:05

Good luck trin Shamrock very exciting (not jealous at all Envy)

vroc81 · 21/03/2016 18:15

Ooh good luck Trinpy hope all is going well!

woolballs I was also very pleased to miss MILs birthday and any chance of shared parties by a day!

We got home last night, was pleased to escape after one night in but have to go back to have her tongue tie dealt with Wednesday.. Today's community MW visit agreed with the discharge midwife, as her tongue is being pulled into a heart that it's quite bad but quite a lot of the midwifes on the ward had a bit of a get on with it and try harder attitude which was fairly upsetting when we were both trying pretty hard to get things right!

Charlie can't help with stitches Theresa mine are round the front but get yourself some painkillers i keep getting told it's easier to keeps head of the pain instead of playing catch up with it?

ffauxlivia · 21/03/2016 18:20

Hi all, sorry I don't get to post much in here but I'm averaging about 1 hours sleep in 24 hours with a gruelling feeding, pumping and supplementing schedule to try and get Seren's weight up and its exhausting! Discovered that her tongue is causing the problems which can be easily resolved (with a little snip (is that tongue tie?) so feel better as spent yesterday with her crying and me crying with tears dripping all over her when trying to feed, I felt like such a terrible mother, and it was just awful! I think that was the infamous day 5 baby blues but hopefully getting better now

But just wanted to say charley that I had a second degree tear too, on Tuesday, and experienced exactly the same as you. It's only really yesterday/today that I don't feel swollen and its starting to feel a bit more normal. They gave me strong ibuprofen Doses in hospital but the last few days I haven't needed to take anything .

indom you can totally steal the name, I think Seren would definitely work for a boy outside of Wales, I love people using names differently. Hope the little tinker comes soon and puts you out of your misery

trinpy eek good luck, you sound so calm well done!

doc hope Oliver is okay Thanks

charley I am giving Seren expressed milk in a bottle too and it's fine, they told me to always do breast first and Use the slowest flow bottle nipples You can find which are wapparently he enfamil disposable ones you get given at hospitals. Not sure if have them in UK? But they fit the Medela accessories if you have a Medela pump. She spits up a lot too so they said go as slow as possible and burp every 15ml. She hasn't gotten lazy with the boob and still sucks hard, just hardly gets anything! I tickle her feet/under arms and massage my boob to get her to keep going when she slows down or gets sleepy. This is all stuff the lactation consultant taught me so sorry if you know it already! Oh and also use a hot towel over the boob and give it a massage before feedin and pumping, so good for easing the pain!

Will try and catch up with everyone else when I can!

Welcome back neh!

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 21/03/2016 18:21

Thanks for the advice- I thought it was a bit soon for it to stop hurting- wishful thinking on my part Smile
I've been having paracetamol, but one of the midwives told me I couldn't have ibuprofen if breastfeeding and stick to paracetamol only Confused
I'll definitely try the squeezy bottle suz. I'm also going to have a bath with some lavender oil which I hope will help.
Glad things are progressing trinpy and hope things are happening for you as well indom.

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 21/03/2016 18:27

X post with ffaux thanks for all the advice. We dug out the hospital teats we used last time and they definitely suit her better. Am also making a conscience effort to wind her a lot during a feed- although she'd prefer to carry on!- and that seems to be helping. Will try your other tips as well.
Another mention of ibuprofen- think I must have been given the wrong advice from that midwife!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 21/03/2016 18:39

Ooh good luck trin!!!

ffaux sorry to hear things have been tough but hopefully things are on the up.

charley its definitely normal to still be in pain, unfortunately Sad theres a huge amount of variation in healing time i think. with DD1 I had an episiotomy which is supposed to be comparable to a 2nd degree tear but healing is worse and I was in pain for weeks. This time round I had a 2nd degree tear but the midwife said most of it was skin and not muscle so think it wasn't a bad one, and it's been a lot less painful and I can walk fine. If I was you I'd dose up on the iboprufene.

Feeding has gone better today, E is more alert and as a result is opening her mouth wider so I can ram more boob in. It's still not quite right but I feel like it's getting better which is good.had her weigh in today and she's only lost 3.5% birth weight so feeling like the cluster feeding was good for something. E hasn't done a poo since Saturday though Confused they want to review it tomorrow when I go in for heel prick test so hoping she does a poo before then or I'm not sure what they'll suggest Sad

BumpPower · 21/03/2016 18:54

charley I had stitches at the front last time (the phrase cliteral tear still makes me want to cross my legs). Agree with painkillers I also used the plastic baby bath we had as a make shift Beddau (is that how you spell it?) in the bath and washed everytime I went to the loo for at least 2 weeks. Didn't get infected which made healing a lot quicker.
